Raise the Red Gyarados!
Ethan's POV
"Not on my watch!" Lance, one of the most powerful trainers in the world and who is also a Pokemon Elite member stepped inside the room. He picked up my belt on which my Pokeballs were attached from a table and threw it inside the cell in which I stood.
"L-Lance." Butch managed a smile. "Cassidy, I think we should- uh, run?"
Lance stared at Butch continuosly. Butch started shaking in terror. "Uh, Cassidy?" He turned around only to discover that Cassidy was gone. He seemed to be panicking and made a run.
"Lance!" I said. "W-what are you doing here?"
"Saving your life, I suppose." He opened the cell and walked outside the room. I followed him. "So what do you know about this place?"
"Nothing much except for something to do with a red colored Gyarados."
Lance stopped and tilted his head a bit, looking at me with the edge of his eye. "A red Gyarados? What do you mean by that?"
"We can just go back to that room and I can show you." I pointed backwards.
"No. Team Rocket have bigger plans, and I know they have nothing to do with a Red Gyarados." Lance justified.
"Bigger plans?"
"You can't take over the world by a discolored Gyarados. Team Rocket is not that simple. Their plans have something to do with their old experiment - Mew 2." Lance opened a door which seemed to be an exit.
"Mew? As in the mythical Pokemon Mew?"
"Yes! Now we need to hurry outside, thanks for mentioning the Gyarados. I know just the place we need to be." Lance took a deep breath in, while looking at the sky which changed to dark in a fast pace.
Red's POV
Mahogany Town looked like an ancient ninja village which was built just a days ago. The buildings and streets were well maintained and looked as if they were made recently.
The sky had a bad face, it was getting cloudy and it was definitely going to rain. Lyra had also predicted the weather and had brought out her Marill to play. Marill loved the rainy weather.
"Is that-" Said Lyra and I at the same time.
"Ethan?" Said Lyra.
"Lance?" I said. Both of us looked at each other and started walking in their direction.
"What's Lance doing in Johto?" I asked. I kept myself steady and expected a Pokemon battle.
"Johto is Lance's home, Red. The big question is that what Ethan is doing with him? You know after that time travel thingy, we don't even know what Ethan is like anymore."
"I did not want a reminder of the mess I made. Anyways, let's just follow them. Or do you want to go - 'oh hey, Ethan!' ?" I imitated Lyra's voice, which turned out to be a bad mimicry.
Lance and Ethan walked without any stop. They were headed to the northern part of the town but my guess changed after they walked past the last house in the north Mahogany.
One thing was clear to me, that why they called the town that, because it had way too many mahogany trees. Any house we went by had atleast two mahogany trees next to it.
Finally, Lance and Ethan's venture came to an end when they stopped right in front of a lake.
Ethan's POV
"The lake of rage, is what they call it. When I was your age, I used to call it Magikarp Lake." Lance looked around as if he searched for a particular thing. "Look, Team Rocket!"
I saw a few Team Rocket Grunts at the opposite side of the lake. Suddenly, the ground shook and came out what looked like a beast, a Gyarados with the color of death.
I couldn't believe what I was seeing. How could be a Pokemon of a different color? That means there could be more Pokemon with altered colors, which sounded very absurd.
I looked around and saw two familiar faces. Fortunately they didn't belong to the beloved Cassidy and Butch, but instead belonged to Red and Lyra.
I was a hundred percent sure that they had followed us here. Why so? Writer's wish.
"Would you like to join?" I asked them. Both walked forward.
"Uh- sure." Lyra mumbled. "What's going on?"
Red and Lyra were stunned to see the Gyarados and froze for a couple of seconds. Lance looked at the two. "That we need to know." Said Lance, running around the lake to reach to Team Rocket.
Suddenly, the Gyarados used Hyper Beam at the Team Rocket Grunts, but the beam was aimed incorrectly and destroyed a house next to the lake.
"Oh my god." Said Lyra, running after Lance. Red and I followed along.
The Gyarados used the attack again. Again, the attack didn't even touch Team Rocket and shattered the forest in the northern side of the lake.
"Now that's legal deforestation." I said, detaching one of my Pokeballs. "Go Typhlosion."
The Red Gyarados turned to me and was enraged by my move. "Typhlosion, use Flamethrower."
The attack was inaffective against the water type Pokemon.
"That won't possibly work against a Gyarados." Red suggested. The Gyarados used Hydro Pump. Typhlosion fainted.
"Then I might need some assistance." I looked at the three trainers standing by me.
All of them smiled and detached a Pokeball from their belt.
"Go Ivysaur." Red sent out his Grass type which had a type advantage.
"Go Togepi." Said Lyra, overconfidently sending out her weak Pokemon.
"Go Larvitar." I said. "Use Dark Pulse."
Red walked forward. "Ivysaur, Solarbeam."
"Okay then, Togepi, use Metronome." Togepi used Fire Blast."
Lance watched us battle the Gyarados and probably believed that we could handle it ourself, he ran towards the Team Rocket Grunts and sent out his Dragonite to deal with them.
The Gyarados used Hyper Beam at my Larvitar. Larvitar fainted. "Why always me? Larvitar come back. Go Xatu. Use Psychic."
Ivysaur used Solarbeam.
"Togepi, Metronome." Said Lyra. Togepi used Thunder. Gyarados wasn't able to handle the move and fell back into the water.
I wasn't able to see it. Almost like it disappeared, never to come back. "Where is it?" I asked. Lance was still fighting the Team Rocket Grunts.
Suddenly, Togepi flashed blue in color and started growing in size and shape. It was evolving. I pointed my Pokedex towards the Pokemon.
"Togetic, the Happiness Pokemon. It grows dispirited if it is not with kind people. It can float in midair without moving its wings."
I didn't know about Togetic but after seeing Lyra's emotions I would say she was the Happiness Pokemon.
The Red Gyarados cane out of the water and seemed to be back to normal and ready for a rematch.
"Let me deal with this my way." I said, throwing a Pokeball at the Red Gyarados. It went inside the Pokeball and the Pokeball fell into the water, floating on the surface. The ball shook for a few seconds and the Gyarados broke free.
Red and Lyra called their Pokemon back inside. Gyarados used Iron Tail.
"Xatu, dodge it with a Teleport." Xatu teleported behind the Gyarados. "Now use Confuse Ray."
Gyarados was confused, he hit himself in his confusion. I pulled out an Ultra Ball and threw at the Gyarados. The Ball once again fell into the water but this time it didn't float, it sunk.
I just stared at the lake. Gyarados didn't seem to appear. "Oh no." I said. Running near the lake and diving inside.
The water was cold and I didn't the like the feeling of swimming near huge Magikarps. I swam underwater towards the sinking Ultra Ball, which did nothing but shaking.
I was going out of breath, but I had to get it. I continued without caring about myself. And suddenly, I was out of breath and went unconscious.
I coughed. I was back onto the surface, lying on the Earth, next to the Lake of Rage. Red and Lyra looked worried, sitting next to me. I threw out water from my mouth.
"That was familiar." Red smiled.
"What was familiar?" I asked.
"I used my Wartortle and my Ditto who transformed into Wartortle to go get you as I knew you'll go unconscious." Red gave me a towel. "Like before."
"That never happened before." I said.
"It did. Before we messed up the timeline." Said Lyra. I had to believe what they were saying which was ridiculous. "Anyways, how are you feeling?"
"I lost the Gyarados." I said. "Not good."
"You didn't." Red handed me an Ultra Ball. "It's yours." He said. "And your bag has been shaking too for quite a while now."
"What?!" I exclaimed, rushing to my bag which was lying on the ground and I unzipped it. The egg I got from Professor Oak was breaking.
"It's hatching!" Red exclaimed.
"Another Togepi?" Asked Lyra.
The Pokemon came out. "Pichu." It said.
Lance came back. "That Gyarados must be kept safe. Team Rocket used an evolution stone on it because of which it was in so much rage. The same thing happened last year in Safari Zone, if you remember, Red."
"Yeah, with the Dragonite. Wait, so you mean Team Rocket reacted the Gyarados with the Mega Stone?" Red asked. "So why didn't ut evolve?"
"Because each Pokemon has it's own Mega Stone." Said Lance. "And Team Rocket just has one and it's unknown to which Pokemon it belongs."
Lance looked at my hatched Pokemon. "Wow, a Pichu. Haven't seen one of those in a while." Lance walked away. "See ya in the league, kids."
All of us looked back at the Pichu.
"Pichu." He said.
