Rosa's pov

I was 8 years old... I lived in Lavander Town my whole life. I was usually quiet and shy around people, but at home, I'm a little booger, or what my daddy called me

I walked around the town, enjoying a stroll with my mommy's Smeargle. I looked up and saw a poster of the girl that had been missing for two years... I'm not sure what her name was, but she was 2 years older than me and her Litwick had always rescued me from bully's trying to hurt me. now that they were gone, I've been hiding at home ever since... today is a different day, today is a day where me and my parents go to vacation! Away from this place! I'm so excited

"It's so sad that that girl is missing... I hope she's still alive... I'm sure we could've been friends" I said to Smeargle. he nodded and looked at the poster with me

"Yo! Rose!" A bully name Nick, called. before I could think, I jumped and ran away, like I usually do, with Smeargle "where you going!?" I knew him and a few other bullies were chasing me. I reached home and shut the door, heavy breathing

"Rosa, what's wrong?" Daddy asked concern, while packing. I couldn't answer because I was heavy breathing "is it those kids again?" He glared. I slowly nodded. he walked pass me and walked outside "Get away you rotten kids!" He glared. he can be pretty moody and has anger problems

"H-honey..? Are you alright?" Mommy asked daddy. mommy was always a nervous kind of person, but she's very lively and happy. I can say that I fit in right in the middle. daddy came back inside

"Those damn kids are trying to hurt my baby again" he snarled while looking at the door. mommy picked me up and checked for injuries

"Are you alright baby?" I nodded and looked at daddy walking over to look at my face

"You sure?" He asked. I nodded and brought them to a hug. I love how I have people who care about me like this... this is all I need...

"Are you ready to go to Unova? You're going to love it there!" Mommy giggled.

"Yes!" I cheered and went to my room to pack. a few hours later, we were all set and got on the plane out this region and to this new region called Unova! It looked so cool from the sky! It was like 3 different areas!

We landed in a place called Mistralton City. we rented a car and drove to a area called Striaton City, where mommy said there will be wonderful things to see and eat! We will also be staying there and travel the rest of Unova the best we can

It was dark and it started raining, it was too dark too see... even with the lights on. I held onto Smeargle, terrified "Sweet heart, please pull over... this is dangerous" mommy told daddy. he didn't look so good, he was pale and was sweaty

"We're almost there... we just have to pass this forest and we'll be in the next city" something had appeared in my hands... a golden orb.. huh? Before I could react, the car shook and fell downward into some water.

My parents head smashed onto the front of the car, making blood explode everywhere, even to my cheek. My body wasn't even effected by the crash... my eyes widened and I screamed like crazy! Mommy! Daddy!

"Smear!" Smeargle cried. I held onto him tightly as water started to creep into the car... I shut my eyes tightly and prayed that I'll go where ever mommy and daddy were going...

A light came from the water. I looked up and saw something oval with two lights on the top coming towards us

"Chin!" The thing cried and attacked the window to open. it was a Pokemon... it used its lights to grab my arm and swam me out the car with Smeargle. we swam to the surface and coughed out the water in our lungs. the Pokemon who saved us was staring with a frown

"W-who..?" I was too sad to asked who it was... my mommy and daddy... so much blood... "mommy..." I made a crying face "daddy... Noo!!!!!" I shouted and hugged on Smeargle "I want my parents! They can't leave me! I don't wanna be alone!! I don't wanna!!" Something large held my shoulder. I look up and saw a red Pokemon smiling at me near a few others... two different kinds of fox, some blue puff balls flying in the air, and the light Pokemon that saved me...

"Darm..." the big Pokemon offered its arms. I sobbed and ran to hug it. the rest of the Pokemon came over and hugged me, except for the light one... it swam off and came back with a berry to offer. I smiled and took it

"Thank you..." I whipped my tears away "I miss mommy and daddy..." I looked at the berry and sobbed "was I a bad girl..? Did I do something wrong to deserve this..?" Smeargle whipped my tears away. I looked at the Pokemon smiling at me "will you be my friends..?" They nodded and took me deep into the forest, where I will be safe

"So... yeah" I frowned while hugging my legs "a Darmanitan, a Chinchou, a zorua, a eevee, a few Woobat, took care of me... I lived with them all for years... ever since Eevee evolved into a Espeon, they all suddenly disappeared... that's when Team Plasma came into Pinewheel Forest for some research... they found me and offered me a job, they told me they use their power to save Pokemon from foolish humans, so I didn't mind working for them"

"Your friends who rescued you, were taken from Team Plasma" Nate said while we still stayed on the fountain till morning

"Smeargle never left my side... he was a loyal partner and didn't want to leave me lonely. the rest of the Pokemon usually go out and find me food" I sobbed and hugged my knees "it hurts..." my mom and dad protected me for years... they always made sure I was healthy and happy, they even chase off the bullies for me... My hands were growing cold, oh no... I had always felt lonely when I thought of them... even when I'm surrounded by friends, I just couldn't stand being without my parents

I stood up and ran off, leaving my Pokemon and Nate behind. I didn't care if they were calling after me, I need some space...

I went over to look at the sea and heard my Xtransceiver ringing... who can I be? "Hello?" Was this Curtis?

"Curtis?"

"Is this Rapunzel?" I sniffled and whipped my nose

"Yes... do you need something?" Im not in the mood right now... my body is freezing... I want my mommy and daddy...

"I just wanted to see if you would pick up from your Xtransceiver" I heard chuckles "anyways, is something wrong? I thought I heard sniffles" I sniffled again

"They aren't sniffles, they're working around here" I lied

"Oh! That makes sense" he laughed. I found myself smiling "don't you think it's annoying how we can't see each other? We won't recognize each other even if we pass on the streets" I closed my eyes

"I'm sure my Psychic type would know if she knew I was talking to you"

"Awesome, oh! My colleague is calling me. I have to get back to work! Good bye!" He hung up. I raised a brow and took a deep breath. I don't even know who this guy is. for all I know, he might be a old man with 30 skittys. he seems nice, I might keep him along for a chat

"Hey" Nate ran towards me with my Pokemon "why did you run off?" I rushed over to place my body on his chest, curling my arms close to me "Rosa?"

"I'm really cold..." I was shivering. he held my hand and flinched

"Look at me" I looked up, seeing him in a worried frown "I know what it's like to loose someone... don't think too much about it" he took both my hands and blew hot air on them for me "your shadow will leave you... you help me get my mind off my dad so it won't happen to me" he looked at me in the eye "I'll help you with the same" I small smiled and looked down while he continued giving his hot breath

"If I don't face my past, my shadow will be taken from me..." I caught myself repeating the same thing since that shadow appeared in the runway

"Huh?" Nate asked

"Can a shadow be taken from you?" I had already asked him this last night. He stared at me for a moment before taking his jacket off, put it around my shoulders and put me on his back. I hugged him closely while he carried my off. he's so warm...

"I'll rent us a room with two beds, I don't want you sleeping in the state you're in by yourself. I'll keep an eye on you" I stared at him staring forward "dammit Rosa... you're cold" I frowned and buried my cold nose in his shoulder

"I'm sorry for having you put up with me..." my eyes were growing heavy. he chuckled

"It was my choice to have you as my partner. partners help each other. you help me so I help you!" I smiled and went to sleep. A flash of Angel appeared, she was looking at her Xtransceiver while sitting with a Tepig in a bow I saw before

"Don't let your shadow leave you Blade" she was talking with someone

"I really miss you Angel" it was a boy

"I miss you too! I'm your sister after all!" She smiled. she had a sibling? "Don't think too much about me Blade, I'll be back soon... I don't want your shadow leaving you because you're thinking too much about me" she held her heart "remember?" She took out a notebook and looked through it "if a person thinks too much about one thing, their shadow will leave them because of obsession. if you think about one thing for too long and only think of it. it becomes unhealthy. shadows don't like when the body is going through obsession... the heart's light will go down on its own and the shadow will leave. there's no light to keep it there... once the shadow leaves. the body temperature will drop dangerously to 25 degrees. a normal temperature is 98.7 degrees, if it goes anymore lower than 90..." She frowned "you can result in death" I gasped

"But how long did N's shadow been away from him?" Lord N?

"A couple of years since he was a child... his positive bright heart was keeping alive" she sighed and looked at her notebook again "positive bright hearts that had a lost shadow will last longer than a negative bright heart... which won't be bright for long if they keep thinking about negative things over and over..." I looked at my ice cold hands and frowned "I'll never forget how cold his hands became after our battle... I had to tell papa to give him back his shadow so he can live. he went too long without the shadow. his bright heart can only stay bright for so long in that state " tell her papa to give him back his shadow? Was it taken from him?

"Have you found him yet?" Blade asked. Angel shook her head

"No... but I'm still looking" she sighed "please Blade, get your mind off me, I know it's hard. I'm going through the same thing, but I have my new Tepig to help me out" she smiled while petting Tepig happily

"Okay Angel" he sighed "I will try, just come home safe, we all miss you" she blew a kiss at the screen

"I miss you too bro. love you!" He laughed

"Love yah too! Come back to the Pokemon League too! I'm getting old and I need a break!" She giggled

"Oh? So you're tired of it now?" She smirked "alright, bye" she hung up and sighed "that Blade... we really are one" she smiled and moved her eyes so they connected with mine, i looked at her surprised. she smiled "I hope you're doing well Rosa" I gasped, she's really talking to me "what lovely shine you have in your eyes" she picked up her Tepig and walked away into the darkness

"Wait! Angel! Come back!" I want to talk to her... she ignored me and fated away...

Nate's pov

I put Rosa on her bed on the right side of the room near the window and placed the blanket over her, along with a few extra I found in the closet so she doesn't freeze... I have to prevent her shadow from leaving her... she's ice cold

It was around 9 in the morning. we send the night talking near the fountain about her past life... I just can't believe all that happened to her... she must be scarred for life, that's why her eyes continue to flash from bright to dull...

I picked up my Xtransceiver and gave Cheren a call. I think he might be in the middle of class, this is an emergency, he has to pick up. a few moments, he did

"What is it Nate? I'm in the middle of a lecture" I was right

"This is an emergency" he looked alarmed

"What is it?"

"I think Rosa's shadow is trying to leave her..." I looked at Rosa hugging her pillow, her lips were blue. oh Rosa... I looked back at the Xtransceiver and saw that it was moving like Cheren was running

Now there was a bunch of page flipping, his face came back to the screen "what is she thinking about? Is she cold?" I nodded while frowning

"Very cold... like ice and she was telling me about the time her parents died... in a terrible accident" he ran his hand in his hair

"Negative leaving..."

"Negative leaving?"

"It's something that Angel researched a few years back. It effects a regular shined heart extremely... Look, N had a bright heart, and his shadow left him because he only thought about one thing, which was setting Pokemon free, which to him, was a good thing. he survived the low temperatures since he was a child till the day of the battle. now with Rosa, she has a bright heart and was thinking of a negative thing... it says here that if she does that, it'll cause the heart to loose its light from the depression and her temperature will drop to a point where she'll only live for about a month" my heart dropped, breaking into pieces "a regular heart like mine, if I loose my shadow, I can probably die within a week... Rosa has a bright heart and she needs that to stay alive if her heart goes through shadow lost. don't let her hearts light go out... her brightness is keeping her from dying too fast" my knees went weak "how is she?"

"Her lips are blue" my hand was shivering, I could hardly see Cheren's face right now

"Nate, Nate calm down" how can I calm down?? Rosa might have a damn month if I don't get her mind off that accident. why did she have to tell me?! Meloetta told me her heart had been dark for a long time and her loosing her parents is the reason why her eyes go from dull to bright over and over... she's not going to get over this...

"How can I calm down..?" I started panicking "her heart had been dark for years... because of what happened" I bit my nails "negative loosing..." i looked back at her and saw that she was turning white. I rushed over to her and held her ice cold hands "Rosa..."

"Nate, listen to me" my arms continued to shiver, I'm scared to know that she won't wake up, but I want to keep her warm "there's a chance she can live longer, it's only research, not exact facts" that made me feel kinda better... "try your best to keep her mind off that memory. where are you now?"

"Nimbasa City"

"Well that's perfect, you can take the Ferris wheel and go on the roller coasters, anything will help" I nodded quickly at the good idea "I'll give you a call after I call Angel" I nodded

"Oh.. and one more thing" I remembered what Rosa asked me "Rosa asked me 'can a shadow be taken from you?' I thought I'd ask you" he stared at the screen in shock

"I'll call you later... just keep her warm through the day"

"We've been outside all night... we lost a lot of sleep"

"Than keep her warm with more blankets" I gave her all the blankets I found!

"Alright..." I hung up. I have to figure things out on my own while Cheren helps me. I held Rosa's hands close and blew my hot breath as much as I could. please be warm... please be warm "Rosa... don't think about it too much" this is getting frustrating, I don't want her leaving me

"Nate..." I looked up and saw her eyes looking into mine

"Hey" I sad smiled

"I heard everything..." I frowned and continued giving her heat "it's hard to forget about it Nate..." I nodded

"I know" I kissed the back of her hand "but it's good to keep looking forward. I'm sure that what ever happened never happened, we wouldn't had been friends" she smiled and closed her eyes

"It's weird having a friend... but it's nice" her hands were getting warmer, I smiled "thank you... and if I ever do something wrong to you, please understand..." I chucked and pet her head

"Go to sleep, I'll be right here when you wake up, if you need me" I could see Meloetta appearing with a happy smile on her face "call Meloetta and have her come to you if i don't wake" she giggled and closed her eyes

"Thank you..." I nodded and rested my chin on the mattress

"Let's get some sleep" my eyes were heavy. her hand squeezed on mine once. I'm not letting you have a negative loose, having a dark heart is bad enough. dang... why does knowing about shadows have to be so hard?

'Good job Nate...' I heard Meloetta say before darkness came over me as I fell asleep
