Rosa's pov

We walked through the city of Nimbasa. we spend a few days here to have some fun and check out if there was any criminal activity going on. after all that was set, we went to the Pokemon Theater to watch a show. it was a great one. the Pokemon were enjoying them selfs

"Rosa, check this out!" Nate called after we exit the theater room. I walked over to a wall he was looking at and saw a picture of Angel surrounded by a bunch of Pokemon! A Zebstricka, a Cinccino, a Pikachu, a Serperior, a Zoroark, a Chandelure, a Vicini and her Reshiram! I looked down at the title

'Best show of the decade: Angel meets sunshine' this was dated two years ago. I cupped my hands together and looked at the picture in awe

"She's so beautiful" Nate giggled and walked me out the building

"It's so cool that she has a Victini and a Reshiram" he said

"I know" I smiled

"It's cool how you even have a Meloetta" I shook my head

"She's not mine Nate"

"Why not make her yours? I heard stories that Angels victini stole her Pokeball and went in on its own! Didn't one of your Pokemon do that?" I scratched my head

"Meloetta doesn't steal, so she won't just put herself in a Pokeball like Victini did"

"She stole my Pokeball to capture Lanturn" I looked at him surprise "but that's alright! I would've gave it to her anyways" I sighed and looked down the box my Pokemon gave me... it's pretty cool how I have my own personal fashion designers

'Angel had her own fashion designer also' Meloetta giggled

"Really?" She nodded "how you know?" She pointed at herself

'I'm a psychic type, I can know whatever I want to know. if it's personal, I leave it alone' I nodded and hugged the box

"You think I should change and challange the gym leader..?" I asked Nate, shyly

"Yes! Let's go get you changed!" He pulled on my arm and took me to the Pokemon Center to change. I looked at the box nervously... I send out my three designers

"Everyone... can you help me out? I'm afraid I might damage your work" my Pokemon nodded excitedly and started changing me to what felt like a dress. Sewaddle used her silk thread to tighten the sides. Smeargle added some final touches, and Ampharos made sure it was puffy and straight enough

"Sew!" Sewaddle yelled. I opened my eyes to look at the mirror and cupped my mouth amaze. I wore a tight black and white dress that hugged my sides and reaches to my knees on the front, and to the ankles on the back. The designs were almost vine like with roses and pink, the top was sleeveless and in a heart shape over my chest... Smeargle put some white ballot shoes and wrapped the ribbon around my ankles to my knees and tied them in a bow. Ampharos did my hair to a single tight bun on the middle of the back of my head and curled the remaining till the curls were big enough to make my hair reach to my ankles... I blushed and hugged myself

"This is beautiful! But it's so... flashy! I have to walk around the city looking like this!" Sewaddle giggled and made some white silk lined clothes. Ampharos grabbed them and put them around my bun so it could be a laced bow. the rest of the ribbon curled down with my hair. Meloetta finished putting some makeup on me from I don't even know where. she was finally finished

'You look beautiful!' Meloetta cheered and spun in place 'let's show Nate! Let's show Nate!' I blushed as she pulled my hand to the lobby of the Pokemon Center

I could feel people staring at me, asking each other if I was a model or a celebrity... This is embarrassing...

Nate was feeding his Pokemon with his back facing me. I bit my lips and took a deep breath "Nate..?" He looked up and turned around. his face changed colors fast! He held his nose

"Wow..." his voice sound funny from his pinching his nose. Meloetta flew over and covered his face for a moment before leaving. he took his fingers away and stared at me up and down. I hugged myself shyly

"D-do you like it..?" He stood up and took my hand

"Turn around?" He lift my arm and twirled me around. I didn't think my face could be any red "beautiful, as usual" he wide smiled

We walked through the city and to the amusement park, trying to avoid people staring at me. a few kids walked up to me and asked if I was a model... Ampharos wasn't making things any better! Her tail was shining my way

"Knock it off Ampharos!" I blushed. she giggled and let out the light. I returned her and the rest of my Pokemon till we reached the Pokemon Gym

Nate walked me in and walked up to a counter "excuse me!" He said to the man "my friend would like to challenge the Gym Leader Elesa!" The man nodded and checked on his computer

"Miss Elesa is doing a fashion show right now, I'm afraid you must wait till tomorrow"

"Oh well!" I said "looks like I can change out this outfit!" Nate grabbed my hand before I could leave

"Maybe if you knew her name, you would change your mind" he told the man

"Oh? And what would her name be?"

"Rosa" the man flinched from the pain in his ear

"Yes Miss Elesa..." he said through the ear piece and looked at us "young man, since you are friends with this girl, you may sit up front" Nate pumped his fist "and Miss Rosa, please step right this way. I'm sure you have a dazzling Pokemon to be by your side?" I nodded and send out Ampharos "very well" a man took Nate to some other place while I was taken to a pair of doors

"Presenting the dazzling Elesa!" The man opened the door and showed me a bunch of people cheering while a black haired girl with a big furred coat walked towards me like a model, I blushed at her beauty

She stood a few feet away from me and opened her eyes to look at me. she smiled wide and cupped her hands together

"If it isn't the famous Rosa I heard so much about! Your eyes are as beautiful as they were described" I looked down and blushed

"T-thank you Miss Elesa..." she giggled and looked at Ampharos

"And a dazzling Pokemon to go with you! A perfect match! I like it!" She snapped her fingers "what do people usually call you my dear? And where are you from?"

"Rapunzle and Kanto..." she nodded and looked at my hair

"Indeed!" She looked at the crowd cheering "everyone! I would like to introduce my opponent! Rapunzle from the Kanto Region!" Everyone cheered for me. Elesa offered her hand "would you walk with me?" I held her hand

"Sure" we both walk through the run way, she posed confidently while I feel like I'm about to have a panic attack

"Stay calm sweet heart" Elesa smiled at me "it is important for a trainer to be bright and confident!" I took a deep breath and nodded, following her till she walked to the dark stage and left me a few feet away

She stopped on her tracks and had three spot lights pointing at her. she turned around and lift her arm in a pose. her face was on the big screen, the presentation was very flashy

"This is my main stage!" She told me "my beloved Pokemon and your Pokemon shall compete! We're going to see whose star shines brightest!" Confedee exploded. Everyone cheered. I rolled my eyes and looked away

"Forget about brightness" I huffed "who needs it?" I looked at Ampharos frowning at me. Elesa was looking at me while holding her chin, thinking "Go, Ampharos" she nodded and ran up to wait for her match

Elesa took out a Pokeball and kissed it before sending out a Emolga. "ema!" It cheered. this is annoying

"Weak" I said. Elesa just stared, then smiled

"She did say you were with a dark heart... your eyes were so bright before... I wonder where they went" she closed her eyes and pop her hip and posed "my shining Pokemon shall find it! Emolga! Volt switch!"

"Cotton spore!" Ampharos made come cotton and blocked the ability for Emolga to see

"Oh!" Elesa frowned. I snorted and already had enough of this

"Agility around than iron tail" Ampharos ran around Emolga as it tried to see again. she build up lightning speed, her tail turned silver "now!" She swung her tail and attacked Emolga to the wall behind Elesa. the crowd went silent. Elesa cupped her mouth surprised

"My! my! I must say! That was very quick!" She smiled and returned her Pokemon "I guess this one will make things confusing... am I right?" She send out a Flaaffy. I shrugged and returned Ampharos

"Come out-" a Pokemon came up behind me and jumped to the battle field... it was a Mienfoo... it looked strangely familiar. mainly because it was a purple Mienfoo, not a red one. i had rescued this little guy in Castelia when its owner was trying to make it train too much. it had a love for fighting, but the owner was too much

"Mienfoo..." he looked at me and showed me a fist "you want to fight with me?" He nodded. I took out my Pokedex and scanned his moves... not bad

"Alright, Calm mind" he nodded and calmed his mind "good" Elesa nodded

"Flaaffy! Thunderbolt!" Flaaffy stored electricity and let out the attack

"Detect" Mienfoo protected himself "double team" he multiplied himself many times around Flaaffy "Jump Kick" they all ran over and jumped to attack

"Thunderbolt!" Flaaffy attacked before Mienfoo could attack and fainted. I pressed my lips together and walked up to him fainted on the floor

"It's alright little one, I rescued you a few days ago and you still haven't recovered from those injures..." I sighed and took him in my arms "where's your cast?" He looked down "I had made you use attacks that didn't require your arm. just rest up" he nodded and looked at Elesa waiting for us

I closed my eyes and threw out Chimecho "Lele" Chimecho started making a peaceful sound, but it couldn't be heard with this crowd "That won't work? Then let's try this... Uproar!" Chimecho made a loud noise to shut everyone up. they covered their eyes in pain "finally..." I sighed "use wish, then Hypnosis" a star started running around and Flaaffy was put to sleep. I returned Chimecho and send out Deino "Deino, senses" she nodded "run forward and prepare for a ice fang!"

"Flaaffy! Wake up!" Elesa ordered, but Flaaffy was out like a light. Deino attacked Flaaffy, and wiggled it in her teeth till it was frozen solid

"Throw it" she slammed Flaaffy down for the ice to be destroyed and showed Flaaffy fainted. I watched Mienfoo watch in amazement. Elesa frowned and ran her fingers in her hair, then brought back that smile of hers

"You have quite the strategy there..." she giggled and send out her last Pokemon, a Zebstricka. a painful feeling went through my mind. I yelped and dropped Mienfoo, then fell on my knees, holding my head in pain. I desperately wanted to scream... my head... my entire body was on fire... I felt like I was getting stabbed all over...

"Rosa!" I heard Nate shout. I ignored him and shut my eyes tightly. I saw black under my eye lids, pure darkness, even if there was lights all around this catwalk...

'I will take your shadow' a deep voice said. my eyes widened, but my eye lids were still closed... take my shadow? 'But you need it... if I take it from you, you will think of your dark past and grow cold from temperature... learn to face the past...' face my past... It's like what Angel told me... 'in Driftveil... be aware of the sky' the... sky?

I couldn't open my eyes, they felt glued. I saw an image of Angel petting a Tepig with a bow on its head "Angel..." she looked up at me and that's when my eyes forced open. Deino was in front of a fainted Zebstricka... we won?

I looked around and saw and heard everyone cheering for me. my face was on the big screen, looking at it confused

"You shocked me through and through! Even with your eyes closed, you melted my heart!" Elesa said while holding her heart... same way Angel does "you... you're an even more wonderful trainer than I expected! No wonder dear Angel likes you so much!" I looked down at Mienfoo frowning at me. Elesa faced me and gave me a hand, I couldn't look at her... my face must look terrible "your sweet fighting style swept me off my feet! here, take this" she gave me a badge shaped as a lightning bolt

I took it and held it close, 4 more to go... I nodded, held my head, and send out Chimecho "teleport me out" she nodded and teleported me outside. I dropped on my knees near a fountain and breath heavily. why am I so tired..?

'Master?' Meloetta called. I didn't look up 'are you alright?'

"Learn to face the past... or I'll get my shadow taken away from me.." I said to myself. That's what that voice said... Right?

'Huh?' I shook my head and looked to my left and saw a Xtransceiver? I picked it up and heard it ring. I flinched and looked around... should I answer? There was no one around besides me, Mienfoo, Deino, Chimecho and Meloetta

I nervously answered "uh...hello?" A guy voice answered, there was no video, only audio

"Yes? Um... I seem to have found your Xtransceiver..."

"Oh, yes, I see. I'm using an old Xtransceiver to contact you at the moment, audio works only"

"Oh..." I held my head and leaned on the fountain side

"I'm glad you answered my call, thank you so much for finding it!"

"Sure... do you want me to give it to you? Somewhere to exchange it?"

"Actually... I'm currently stuck at work and don't have time to get it..." he has work this late? "If you don't mind, could you hang on to it for a little bit?" I looked at Meloetta, she shrugged

"Sure..."

"Eh? Are you sure? Thank you so much!" I chuckled

"It's no big deal, it's just a Xtransceiver" he chuckled

"Still, my name is Chr- I mean... Curtis! Yeah! Curtis!" Okay..? "And you are?" I don't give strangers my real name

"Rapunzle" there was no sound for a moment "hello?"

"You mean... Rapunzle? As in the Rapunzle that is famous in Castelia City?" I sweat dropped

"Uh... famous is a big word"

"Well, Rapunzle, it'll be a while until I can get a break when work calms down, so please take care of my Xtransceiver, please!" I sighed

"Sure"

"Also... I'm sure you'll want to keep in touch until I can pick up my Xtransceiver. so, ill call your Xtransceiver regularly, if that's okay..." I shrugged

"I guess" if he bothers me too much, I'll have Chimecho find him

"Thanks again! Have a good night" he hung up. I pocket his lost item and looked up at the sky.

'You look pale...' Meloetta pointed out

"Face my past or I'll have my shadow taken from me..." I saw a flash of something dark with red eyes... I closed my eyes and felt something approaching me. I stood up and threw a punch, but it had been caught in Nate's hand "Nate..." I felt dizzy and fell forward before he caught me and sat me down

"What happened Rosa..? Why did you look in pain?" He held my head "you don't have a fever..." I felt my body sweating. I frowned and ripped the dress I had on. he flinched and looked away. I put a black shirt on and neon blue jeans

"Nate..." he uncovered his eyes and looked at me "what happens when you don't have a shadow..?" He looked at me confused

"You know this... you have a perfect memory" i held my head

"Tell me anyways" he nodded and sat in front of me

"Shadows leave the body when one person starts to think about one thing... like me for example. when my dad left... he's all I could think about, and I always needed a blanket to keep warm. my shadow left me. Mr.Cheren thought the class last year, when he opened the school, about the warnings of shadows and such... I didn't want to die that way, so I focused on having fun" I nodded and hugged my legs

"Can a shadow... be taken away from you?" He blinked confused

"Why do you ask?" I stayed silent. he sighed "if you really want to know, I can call Mr.Cheren tomorrow" I nodded and held his hand, he frowned at me "Rosa... something is bothering you" he sat next to me "what is it?" I closed my eyes and sighed

"It'll take my shadow if I don't face my past..." My head hurts... I'm not sure if that's what I heard

"Huh..?" I looked at him

"I'm going to tell you about what happened when I was 8"
