Basically the title.

Most of these are fandom headcanons... or so I think.

1. Surnames
For some weird reason, nearly everyone uses 'Hayden' as Drew's surname and "Maple" as May's. I've been wondering how this became a thing for the longest time and I've still no idea.

2. Overprotective Norman
In about 90% of the fanfictions Norman appears in, he would be the one getting in the way of May and Drew's relationship due to him being overprotective of May. It's just one of the common things you see while browsing fanfics.

3. Caroline
In a way a continuation of the last fact, Caroline is usually the supportive mother. Well... I don't think this is as common as the Norman thing though.

4. Nicknames
like "grasshead" and "tree" for Drew and "airhead" and literally any month name (besides May) for May.  At this point, these are staples and possibly must haves.

5. Evil Brianna
While being mostly harmless in the anime, Brianna is often portrayed as the villain in contestshipping stories. In a way, it makes sense as she does have a crush on Drew. Then again... she doesn't seem to be the kind to ruin his relationships.

6. Game rivalry
Brenden is also usually another "villain", mostly portrayed to have a crush on May and being childhood friends with her. Usually, it's him and Drew that'll get on each other's nerves, mostly leading to May being upset with the squabbling  or annoyed at Brenden. Another not so common (but still common) portrayal of Brenden would be him having a harmless friendship with May and Drew getting jealous due to his insecurities.

7. The meaning of a rose
In 90% of these fanfics, May wouldn't know the meaning of a singular red rose (somehow) and other people would ask her about it leading to her being curious and trying to seek its meaning.

8. Quarrels
A lot of contestshipping stories (especially oneshots) occur because Drew and May got into a quarrel. Then again I guess I'm not surprised. It is an easy way to set up conflict, which is often used as a plot device to move stories forward.

9. Backstory
In most contestshipping fics, Drew doesn't get a backstory, mainly because the anime doesn't give us much to work with. Still... it's pretty weird to think about at times.

And um well... that's all the headcanons I could think about for now. (I'll add more if I think about them later I guess)

On another completely separate note, I currently feel like writing some Pokémon masters fan fiction for my future self to read, mainly because no one else is going to provide the content in the near future. (Maybe besides one person). I... I don't really know anymore... **looks at my many unfinished projects**

Honestly I've been a little mentally tired lately, so I may be breaking a bit from writing my works up here once more. I know I shouldn't but I'm just... tired in general. I'll go on a Wattpad hiatus for a little break, but I don't want to ghost everyone up here either so I guess I'm staying. Well wishes to all and Merry Christmas (I'm about a week early but oh well).
