List of underrated pokemon
A list of underrated Pokémon I think should have a story/be in a story:
-Metapod: I just don't think this middle evo gets any love. Unless it's from the mystery dungeon games.
-Kakuna: Anything with a shell as it's body gets ignored for Beedrill and Butterfree
-Rattata and Raticate: These things are nonexistent in the Fanfiction world
-Spearow and Fearow: I just like them too much and I think these two are super good and underrated enough. Plus where are they in fanfictions?
-Ekans and Arbok: Good snek. That's all.
-Oddish and Gloom: Isn't it gloomily odd-ish that these two are barely seen in fanfictions?
-Paras: Who else? Someone who doesn't scream for attention in legends Arceus?
-Venonat: Why isn't this cute thing popular? It's one of the more unique bugs.
-Mankey: Raging isn't the only thing they're good at.
-Bellsprout: Just Bellsprout. The other two are too popular...I make no sense.
-Slowpoke and Slowbro: More Slowpoke is good. Slowbro is your bro.
-Magnemite, Magneton, and Magnezone: Besides battling and being officers these guys are very interesting fellows.
-Farfetch'd: I know what it says, but it's not so farfetch'd.
-Dodou and Dodrio: I see nothing for these guys. I think of them way too much for them to be ignored. Probably because they're my favorite flying types in Gen one. Blame Yellow?
-Seel and Dewgong: This needs more attention because seals are cute.
-Grimer and Muk: Stans of the Poisonous Squad. Yes. More will be cool.
-Shellder: We don't need more Cloyster. Just this cute little guy.
-Onix: Because yes to a long rock snek. We don't talk about Bruno—no no no!
-Drowzee and Hypno: This is such a sin. They're so good. Alakazam is so frail anyways. Plus they're tapirs. Tapir power!
-Krabby and Kingler: Needs more attention. Just yes.
-Cubone and Marowak: These are such good ground types. Criminally underrated. Might or might not be my ultimate favorite ground type here.
-Hitmontop, Hitmonlee, Tyrogue, and Hitmonchan: Surprised there's no hitman story for Pokémon yet. These would make it lit.
-Lickitung and Lickilicky: One of my favorite normal types. Beefy and interesting. Not to mention criminally underrated in fanfictions. Their tongues aren't just there for licking.
-Koffing and Weezing: Poison types are almost always underrated. They should be used more often. And not just in Pokémon mystery dungeon Fanfiction.
-Tangela and Tangrowth: One of the coolest grass types. It's called variety.
-Kangaskan: writing about this one will help you figure out how to spell it properly. Also for an popular Pokémon this Pokémon isn't used in fanfictions much. A mother and her kid. What a story.
-Goldeen and Seaking: Most underrated water type. Though it is pretty bad right now in my water only run in sword, it's still a cool Pokémon and definitely deserves a story. We have beautiful Milotic who was ugly then beautiful as a Feebas and then weak Magikarp into big strong Gyarados. And then this Goldeen? Beautiful into sort of eh. But life's full of unexpectedness. Goldeen and Seaking have a ton of Potential. Like a ton.
-Staryu and Starmie: Definitely another underrated water duo. They're the stars of the sea.
-Mr. Mime: Because alakazam is not nearly as good. Just forget it. Mr. Mime can create barriers and can be gentle as well. Plus looks aren't everything.
-Jynx: When Psychic types are criminally underrated as well as strange. But hey Jynx is the kind to jinx you.
-Lapras: Not much is written for this cool Pokémon of the sea.
-Porygon, Porygon 2, Porygon Z: What no super cool hacker story with them? No nothing? Such potential wasted.
-Omanyte and Omastar: Definitely a creepypasta situation.
-Kabuto and Kabutops: The potential. I can't even think of anything good because all the options for this are wider than a snorlax.
-Chikorita, Bayleef, Meganium: Yes they're starters, but what stories are there? Probably very limited.
-Sentret and Furret: What potential. Fluffy and cute. Tons of pasta-bilities.
-Hoothoot and Noctowl: Might be even more criminally underrated than even Dodou/Dodrio
-Ledyba and Ledian: Bugs are so underrated. Especially this Gen two one.
-Spinarak and Ariados: Or perhaps all the Gen two bugs deserve better. Bugsy was right to put them into light.
-Chinchou and Lantern: So much potential for greatness. Under the sea. A different landscape for Pokémon stories.
-Hoppip, Skiploom, and Jumpluff: Greatly underrated grass types. They deserve better.
-Sunkern, Sunflora: The only grass type I think gets worse hate than this is Chikorita. People say Sunkern is a stupid seed. Horrible.
-Misdreavus and Mismagius: One of the more underrated ghost types. Poor Mimikyu and Gengar made it never get its chance to shine.
-Unown: So unown why these strange little guys can't get a chance to shine. Only one move? Psh four is easy. Try one.
-Girafarig: Criminally good and underrated. Ghost types can't hit it. Only dark. This guy deserves a spotlight. Definitely one of my favorite Gen four Pokémon.
-Snubull, Granbull: These two are probably my favorite species of fairy type Pokémon. Not to mention as a normal type I think they were really cool. Plus having stories about Snubull and granbull makes these two even cooler than they already are. An example of intimidating, yet cowardly.
-Qwilfish: There's not much to say about this Pokémon. It's mostly greatly ignored. But it's a good Pokémon no matter whether it's the Hisuian form or the regular one.
-Shuckle: This Pokémon is definitely built differently than other bug types.
-Heracross: Despite it being one of the more powerful and more known bug types, Heracross isn't used much in fanfictions.
-Slugma, Magcargo: What a good fire type Pokémon that isn't thought of much. I really feel like these two Pokémon are one of the most underrated fire types of all time. Especially with it being Rock and Fire type. It has some very good coverage and despite its design's facial expressions being weird, it's a very good Pokémon that just deserves more love on screen and in fanfictions.
-Corsola: Even with an evolution this Pokémon didn't get much attention. I would love to read a story with Corsola as the main character. Perhaps in an attempt to escape from the jaws of Mareanie.
-Remoraid, Octillery: these two Pokémon are also underrated water types. Though, they're not the most underrated, they're still very underrated. Especially in fanfictions where they seem nonexistent.
-Delibird: So much potential in fanfictions and yet nothing has come from this beautiful specimen. So many presents to give and so much santa to bring. Ho Ho Ho.
-Mantyke, Mantine: These guys are underrated just because there's so many flying-water types out there anyways. But this is definitely one of the better water-and-flying types if you ask me. Could use a good story.
-Skyarmory: This thing is soo good, yet so criminally underused in battles and in stories. Use Skyarmory please.
-Phanpy, Donphan: The OG elephant before we got the steel elephant that stole everyone's hearts. Rip Phanphy and Donphan. You'll always have a cooler design to me. And more potential within a fanfiction. Although I doubt Copperajah and Cufant have any Fanfiction cameos either.
-Stantler/ Wyrdeer: This one just has so much potential it kills me to see such a powerful normal type get the boot. It's so strong. And now it has an evolution in Wyrdeer. So much potential.
-Smeargle: Playful, cute, and so much potential. Why isn't this cute normal type getting much besides tough battles? We need more stories with smeargle. 101 smeargle story please. Lol.
-Miltank: It's the sausage nipples guys. It's more than meets the eye I swear. Lol. A motherly figure...or a badass female. What a good Pokémon to keep having your Pokémon faint to as well as read about. Sheesh
-Zigzagoon, Linoone: Before Obstagoon, these two were so criminally underrated. I mean you can use the Galarian forms and such, but the normal type only Ziggy and Linny are so cute. Imagine a cutesy story with them in it.
-Dustox: I felt like only picking Dustox. Why? I feel like people value the wrong bug type. Sure Beautifly is cool and all, but it's got nothing compared to Dustox's coolness and swagger. A cool bug story for this Pokémon is needed. Might as well include it in a story myself as well.
-Lotad: I feel like this is the only hated one of the three. Lotad is super cute as well as has potential to be a stepping leaf....this Pokémon could have so much writing Potential too. A story about a Lotad being emo would be funny tbh.
-Seedot: Idk why I keep saying the first form only, but I have to say Seedot deserves a spotlight just as much as MD Nuzleaf and outlaw Shiftry.
-Taillow, Swellow: This is such a good birb. Why ignore a good birb? Many birb stories can be found with such a birb.
-Slakoth, Vigoroth, Slaking: Such a good normal type. Why does it feel like normal types are ignored? Well, maybe not Slaking, but still in stories I don't see any of these guys. It's criminally awful to see most stories focus around Eevee and Eeveelutions that to see such cool Pokémon be ignored? Yeah I hate it.
-Nincada: I'm pretty sure the other two are also underrated, but Nincada gets the brute of it. It's a ground type bug, so you think it'd get some credit right? Wrong? This Pokémon is ignored by the fact that Shedinja has an op ability. And while that ability is a cool concept to write about, Nincada is one of those Pokémon who should be written about. Mostly because Nincada doesn't evolve into a ground-bug type. I think it should. Imagine if they did make Ninjask into a ground type. I mean it is kind of a ninja...lol. Either way Nincada needs more story time.
-Exploud: I feel like only talking about exploud. It's so good, yet I don't think this pokemon's ever been fully utilized in a good story.
-Makuhita, Hariyama: Such a good fighting type. It's too bad this is one of the most underwriter Pokémon in fanfictions. Could make a good body guard.
-Nosepass, Probopass: This rock type is actually my favorite. It looks like Mario and it's also something I would like to see used more in stories.
-Sableye: This is just the OG Dark-and-Ghost type. Yet it's not used in stories. Why? I think it has a cool design. Plus the gems it has cool use some backstory in a fanfiction. Really cool.
-Plusle, Minun: I felt like grouping these two together because they're a pair. Anyways these two are such cool Pokémon. They have good designs and despite not evolving they have a great team up going for them in their plus and minus abilities. One cannot work without the other. I think a good story on this would be a cool and niche idea. As well as a Clone squad story. I think making a story about the clone pikachus would be cool as people tend to push them off to the side as not nearly as cute as the original Pikachu. But in my opinion you've got so many good ones that Pikachu himself isn't as good as he seems. I think these two definitely deserve some love in stories.
-Volbeat, Illumise: these bugs are actually really good bugs. Not used much in battle and I'm sure they're not nearly as used in stories as they could. I know I used Illumise once. And it was a fun idea. Besides being cool fireflies these guys have such a unique design that it would be cool to see a story on both of these guys.
-Gulpin, Swalot: Probably a more loved poison type species, these two are generally one of the more well seen poison types. Though seeing stories with them is hard to come by and the more I see of gulpin and Swalot the cooler this world becomes...I'm ranting at this point.
-Carvanha, Sharpedo: Despite being a really cool typing these two aren't used much in the line of Fanfiction. Besides maybe a bad guy or the occasional shark swimming to drown someone situation. But these two have more than just wanting to eat fish tonight kind of vibes. These two could give such a good storyline. Maybe a bad guy turned good or perhaps even an unlikely ally situation. There's so many things you can do with this Pokémon its hard to even describe.
-Wailmer, Wailord: Despite being the lords of the sea these two don't get nearly as much fanfictions. But seriously imagine a fanfiction where there's a Skitty and Wailord falling in love. Quite interesting.
-Numel: I felt like Camerupt has been used more in fanfictions, but idk. I know Numel is very underrated and very cool. Would make an interesting character in a story.
-Surskit, Masquerain: For a water-and-bug type this Pokémon is greatly underrated. In battles it is only known about in the first Gen six gym battle. And Masquerain is actually a pretty decent 'mon as well for deleting the water typing. Overall I think a story about these bugs would be very cute and very original. How fast is Surskit anyways?
-Spoink, Grumpig: Overall I just feel like alakazam just makes it way into peoples hearts more than the psychic types that have more potential than people credit. I feel like the Psychic typing is one of those typings that is so underrated that it could compete with Bug, Normal, and Ice for most underrated typing.
-Cacnea, Cacturne: What more is there to say? Loads of wolf west stories in the making just by staring at these two. But who's to risk such a thing over a cactus?
-Lunatone, Solrock: Definitely another underrated psychic duo. It sure does feel like people hate these guys more than they should. They're way better than people credit them for. Plus a story about a rock who wants to be the sun and a rock who wants to be the moon is an interesting plotline. Sounds like some shenanigans to me. You think there's so missing science to it?
-Barboach, Whiscash: the only one I can remember besides Wallace's is the one from mystery dungeon. And even then he's forgettable. I can't even begin to say anything about Barboach. A story about them or with them in it would be cool. Underwater spectacular story?
-Corphish, Crawdaunt: I sometimes feel like I look up the wrong words to find stories about Pokémon, but I feel like a good majority of water Pokémon who aren't starters, Vaporeon, or Gyarados just don't get the love in fanfictions. The fact that it was probably the original water-dark type before Greninja is also a sin. It deserves more fanfictions and such. And love. Lol. And Corphish as well.
-Baltoy, Claydol: For a really good typing, ground-and-psychic, it doesn't get much. The most it got was probably in the fan game Hoopa Unbound where it serves a vital role in annoying the literal shit out of the evil team. Besides that these two get really no fanfiction glory or even a decent cameo in stories. It's the perfect past Pokémon, so it should deserve to be at least in a story of the past. Would be interesting to see for sure.
-Lileep, Cradily: Would love to see this Pokémon form a rescue team in a story. Would also love to see a possibly Fossil Squad, but I might already be digging my own grave with everything else. Lol.
-Anorith, Armaldo: Super underrated for being a great bug type. Sure it's weak to water, but at least it can also fight water with water...Gun. Lol. Either way this would be a cool Pokémon. Gosh I'm trying not to imagine such a thing as a Fossil Poekmon Squad, but with this Anorith being top five favorite bug types I might just have to. Gosh so much story potential with Anorith and Armaldo. And it's not just for that special in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky either. You're not the explorer of these skies—idk why I had to quote Skye from Paw Patrol there.
-Feebas, Milotic: I just feel like I rarely see these in fanfictions. Maybe even less of Feebas, but I feel like Milotic is still relevant to have even more stories about it's beauty. Or about it's Grace. Idk.
-Castform: This Pokémon should take its role as the king of MandJTV's heart. And in fanfictions as well. I feel like weather can be explained with just Castform. Like if it's raining:Castform. Easy cameo in fanfictions. Yes. Just random appearances with weather. Make this Pokémon friends with Thunderous while you're at it. Lol.
-Tropius: it's a really cool typing and I would love to see even more Pokémon be grass-and-flying types. Although this makes it frail, I think a story showing off the beauty of banana Pokémon is a really neat story idea and seeing more of Tropius always makes me happy. Though I fail to use it sometimes myself.
-Chingaling, Chimecho: this is probably the one Pokémon I know at least one person hates the guts of. And this is another forgotten and well underused Psychic type duo.
-Snorunt, Glalie: I just feel like this ice type could use some more Fanfiction work done. It's a really cool Pokémon with a really huge head....
-Clamperl, Huntail, Gorebyss: Am I the only one who thinks these water types can make some interesting villains or anti-heroes in a story? I mean Gorebyss' Pokedex entry is enough proof to create something special with these Pokémon in a fanfiction.
-Relicanth: I don't really see much with this cool Pokémon. When I saw it in the Pokémon Manga I thought it was a cool Pokémon and wish there was some more hype with it. It's just a really rare and really cool Pokémon. Imagine the lore within a fanfiction of it.
-Luvdisc: It needs more than just a cameo in a fanfiction about love. Perhaps make this Pokémon have a love story too as I'm sure there's plenty of Luvdisc who deserve such a story outside of just being the Pokémon that lovers see if they're destined.
-Regirock, Registeel, Regice, Regileki, Regidrago, and Regigigas: Now I know two of these guys are new, but there should definitely be an ancient Pokémon fanfiction on all of these guys. I don't really see many legends in fanfictions, but knowing that these guys are not chosen as any of the possible legends to put in a fanfiction is just criminal. So much history and so many possibilities with every single one of them. I'm probably gonna try to see where I can place these guys myself as they could make interesting characters.
-Bidoof, Bibarel: I know I could have mentioned the other legendaries within the Hoenn region, but I think Bidoof and Bibarel have way too much story potential. It's the Pokémon God meme lords, yet there's nothing I can really find on these cute guys. Would love to see a goofy or serious character built from these two. Or just any character.
-Kricketot, Kricketune: Now I know I'll have a bug squad, but seriously I need more bug types in fanfictions. More cute and friendly bugs who aren't left out of the picture for some dumb starter who's already popular—well not dumb, just overly used. Seriously I like variety in my fanfictions. Plus Kricketune is such a powerful monster if you know how to use it. Not to mention how cute Kricketot is...
(Artwork by LuckyLucario on Deviantart.)
Who could say no to that face? I cannot.
-Cranidos, Rampardos: Feeling some serious Fossil squad vibes...Nooo!!!! But yeah these two deserve some tlac
-Shieldon, Bastiodon: Am I the only one who thinks a lot of fossils are so criminally underrated that stories with them are rare? Only me? Only I want to see Dino-like Pokémon show up in fanfictions? Eh...
-Burmy, Wormadam (all forms), Mothim: I watch Adrive, so I might be pretty bias—I am so bias right now—but I think that Mothim, Burmy, and Wormadam just deserve way more than what they get. Fanfiction wise and of course competitive wise. They're so much better than what people give them credit for. I know Mothim is 4x weak to Rock, but Mothim is actually a really good Pokémon if he knows the move Quiver Dance. I would love to see more with bugs and I just really love to see these guys make it into way more fanfictions as good and or bad guys.
-Pachirishu: What more can I say? A really great Pika-clone that's actually one of the closest to being Pikachu actually. Not to mention how cute it is should qualify for more shipping too. Lol.
-Buizel, Floatzel: I'm not sure about Buizel, but I just feel like Floatzel is way too left out of fanfictions. And I thought it was a relatively decent Pokémon. I also think Buizel just needs a bit more fanfictions to be in.
-Cherubi, Cherrim: Do you remember these guys? Yeah they deserve to be in a fanfiction. Maybe a story about how to find the ability to feel again... or maybe a sunny side up story about a grass type who just wants to be loved for who they are rather than to feel like they're always ostracized. Idk.
-Shellos, Gastrodon: These two are just begging to be in fanfictions. They're so cute. Idk what else to say. I think they're criminally underrated, especially when compared to Mudkip, Marshtomp, and Swampert.
-Drifloon, Driflim: I just really would like to see these guys more in fanfictions. Such cool ghost types. Might end up putting one in my fanfictions so at least one can feel the love that Gengar and Banette get.
-Buneary, Lopbunny: I'm actually pretty sure Lopbunny is only used as some sort of jealous mechanic in LucarioxBraixen stories, but I feel like these Pokémon still get some short end of the stick. They deserve better.
-Glameow, Purugly: I seriously swear normal types aren't put in fanfictions. Or I'm not looking in the right places. Also am I the only one who thinks Purugly is pretty cute?
-Stunky, Skuntank: Poison types get a short end of the stick. But seriously other than Pokémon Mystery Dungeon where do you see Skuntank? And Stunky gets no action. Unless they put this Pokémon as a bad character or something.
-Bronzor, Bronzong: Another Psychic type that should be in a relic Fanfiction about past Pokémon. No seriously it would be so cool to see this Pokémon in some sort of in the past kind of story. Or just in any Fanfiction rather.
-Chatot: Imagine this Pokémon being a bully in a fanfiction. Just don't call them Berdly. There's already a really cool blue bird called that. Lol. Also all the mimicking this Pokémon could do in such a fanfiction.
-Skorupi, Drapion: Not gonna lie I thought at least Drapion would be in some human stories but I find little to none. I would really like to see a story where a Drapion looks scary, but isn't as scary as they seem and are actually quite gentle, sweet, and cuddle-able.
-Croagunk, Toxicroak: A Pokémon battle story. That's all that needs to be said.
-Carnivine: Probably one of the most forgotten about grass types. This not only deserves a different form or preevolution/evolution, this deserves a fanfiction. The joys of being a carnivorous plant.
-Finneon, Lumineon: I feel like these Pokémon are always the one that are said as underrated. I don't think I've seen any stories on them either and they're usually ignored. #moreforthefishEons.
-Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf: I feel like the story potential for these three is way grander than people see. In fact, at least two games imply that these three Pokémon are important. After all, they do create the red chain and show humans how to contain Dialga, Palkia, ect.
-Dialga, Palkia: despite time and space being essential, nothing outside the games shows this importance. Would love to see such a story where there's distortions and time and space are all messed up. Hmmm....
-Victini: For a mythical it is truly a myth to see this Pokémon in fanfictions. I mean it's so cute it should be in a fanfiction. Idk. I might just be wanting more fanfictions that aren't just eeveelution based, Lucario based, or starter based.
-Patrat, Watchog: these two are just two normal types I think should get even more fanfictions. They might have a few, but idk. They seem like they should get even more fanfictions and should get starred in a few of them.
-Purrloin, Liepard: I just don't see them in fanfictions that often and think it would be cool to see more of them. More stealing and even false accusations of them stealing would be interesting as well as a possible love story for one.
-Pansage, Panpour, Pansear, Simisage, Simisear, Simipour: Does anyone think circus Pokémon stories would be cool and interesting to see? I think seeing these monkeys more in Fanfiction is a great idea.
-Munna, Musharna: I think outside of mystery dungeon Munna needs to be used. Especially in Fanfiction. Would love to see a story with Drowzee and Munna as either friends or "evil" partners in crime. Would make a good dynamic.
-Pidove, Tranquil, Unfezant: I feel like Gen five gets so much bad rep, but these three are so good and I feel like these guys need to have more fanfictions or any at all on them. They're all way too cool to be neglected like this.
-Blitzle, Zebstrika: not gonna lie these two horses are more deserving to have even more fanfictions based around them. They're just way too interesting and I think a story could use them/ do with them well.
-Roggenrola, Boldore, Gigalith: Just more rock types I think should get more fanfictions is all. Yep. Imagine these guys are part of a hilarious construction crew.
-Woobat, Swoobat: While these two might not be that popular, I feel like having these two in a fanfiction would be interesting. Cutesy or perhaps bloodthirsty vampires who think people/Pokémon are willingly donating their blood. How nice.
-Timburr, Gurdurr, Conkeldurr: Construction worker Fanfiction yes. Building houses absolutely. Destroying "bad guys?" Maybe.
-Tympole, Palpitoad, Seismitoad: We need a frog story. Or perhaps that's just me agreeing with Pokemen7 here for no reason at all. But still we need more Gen five in our lives. And in our fanfictions. Tons and tons of these lovely frogs in our fanfictions. More possibilities. More fun. Yes.
-Throh, Sawk: I'm surprised there's no wrestling Pokémon Fanfiction with these guys in it yet. There's definitely a story behind those black belts as well. Also why do they look like muppets?
-Sewaddle, Swadloon: I just think seeing these two in a Fanfiction is more interesting than Leavanny. Plus I think there might be a few with this Pokémon in it. Not that Leavanny isn't welcome as a nanny or something ins. Fanfiction. Just thinking I might have seen this Pokémon a few times somewhere before.
-Venipede, Whirlipede, Scolipede: I'm not sure if Scolipede is used as often in stories really. I just think seeing more of these guys is a cool idea. The idea that Whirlipede could be a beyblade in a story is an interesting idea to me.
-Cottonee, Whimsicott: For being Grass-And-Fairy types these guys are definitely underused in stories. I could see tons of story possibilities with these two from a story where they travel to a story where they come on top and prove just how powerful grass types can actually be.
-Petilil, Lilligant: I feel like the Gen five grass types who aren't Snivy have the most potential of being cool in stories. Too bad I don't see either of these powerful-yet-underrated grass types being utilized. Imagine one being a Sargent or a powerful leader in some kind of group. Now that's a nice idea.
-Sandile, Krokorok, Krookodile: I think I mostly see these guys as villains or just bullies. Let's stop dark type shaming and make them heroes—even unlikely heroes or unwilling heroes. There's a reason why I kept Sandile alive in my murder story.
-Darumaka, Darmanitan: despite Darmanitan being also fire and fighting like three of the starters, I don't see either Daru or Darmana in fanfictions as often. I would most certainly like to see a relic story on these Pokémon or just any Pokémon. Even with their added ice typing would be a cool concept as I feel like alternate forms of past Pokémon are almost always more underrated than their current form. Plus a Galarian Darmanitan is such a good Pokémon to add to any Fanfiction. I've typed are greatly underrated. Especially if they're not Weavile or Glaceon.
-Maractus: I feel like any cactus Pokémon automatically doesn't get any attention. Especially this cactus. Gen five gets both a lot of love and a lot of hate. Am I the only one who thinks Maractus is exactly like that one Mario enemy?
-Dwebble, Crustle: Definitely a really cool bug type with the added rock combo. Not kidding. This Pokémon is Adrive approved too. Lol. Not that other Pokémon arent. Just that Dwebble and Crustle are really powerful and I feel like there's not enough on them in the story community.
-Scraggy, Scrafty: as crafty as these two can be, I feel like they're used more as bad guys. Dark type and fighting type can do that to Pokémon. Stereotypes if you will within the Pokémon Fanfiction community. I just feel like these two can be either unlikely heroes like in Mystery Dungeon Gates to Infinity or possibly just misunderstood heroes who just talk in a punk language people think are bad. But they aren't bad. They're just misunderstood. I think one of my friends kind of explored this idea but didn't get far.
-Sigilyph: Do we have too many Psychic/Flying types? Yes we do. But does that mean this Pokémon should be ignored just because it might be bad? No. Honestly I'd like to see more of this Pokémon. It's pretty unique and it seems to have some lore that people are ignoring. I would actually love to see a story based around the possible lore or storytelling of a Sigilyph. Perhaps a mysteriousness about the Pokémon or perhaps this Pokémon is close in relation to the Pokémon Unown.
-Yamask, Cofagrigus: I swear I myself keep forgetting about these Pokémon. I should add them to the Ghost Squad. Not to mention how much curiosity is with these two Pokémon. I mean Yamask cries when holding the mask—it could possibly be a face, while Cofagrigus is a sort of curious Egyptian-styled Pokémon who definitely has some kind of lore to it. I just really like the lore.
-Tirtouga, Carracosta: Seriously fossil Pokémon are underrated. I keep forgetting about these two as well. They definitely deserve more. They're good Pokémon as well as a good maker of stories. I wonder what it actually is like to be a fossil Pokémon being reborn into society. It's kinda an interesting thing to think about and predict about.
-Archen, Archeops: I see these two even less than Carracosta and Tirtouga. I feel like the ability keeps people from adding them to a story, but imagine how much more stronger it will make them look if they come on top in some sort of battle story. Amazing.
-Trubbish, Garbodor: These don't really feel as underrated anymore. I just feel like there's more story to add to the trash Pokemon. Like what would happen if they were cleaned out? The video game Pokepark Wonders Beyond actually explores this a bit as the Trubbish was nervous when a Minccino was going to clean him. I think it's an interesting concept outside a Poison squad ngl. Also Trubbish and Garbodor are like those underrated Pokémon I feel like rooting for since they're just trash essentially. They don't feel like being anything but a sentient trash bag.
-Mincinno, Cincinno: Could these be considered as Pika-clones? They are chinchillas. Eh. Either way I feel like these are the one normal type who deserve to be in fanfictions. They're so cool and so cute. Would love to see a possible story about this Pokémon being a janitor or just an underdog who gets the attention she/he deserves.
-Solosis, Duosion, Reuniclus: I decided to choose these three over Gothita, Gothrita, and Gothetelle because I think those are in more stories and I don't see Reuniclus around much. But Gen five is still pretty underrated in my book so both groups are probably more underrated than alakazam and Espeon. I would love to see these guys be scientists or possibly explorers. I can seriously imagine a Reuniclus in an Indian Jones styled hat and it's funny.
-Ducklett, Swanna: I'm surprised I don't see more flying or water types in fanfictions. Not even just floating around in ponds or in lakes. I would absolutely love to make a story about a Quaxly and Ducklett love story since they're so similar, yet both so cool in different ways...although I will say Quaxly kinda looks more interesting with his hair(?).
-Vanillite, Vanillish, Vanilluxe: These are some of my favorite ice types. I just love their creative design. Sure they look like ice cream, but the fact they put so much in these just makes me wish they were in more stories. If there's a blizzard I would love to see Vanillite, Vanillish, and Vanilluxe as a part of those blizzards or a result of them. Imagine if they added the ghost typing to this Pokémon. It would definitely be just as interesting if not more than interesting to see if they did that. No seriously if anyone from Gamefreak is seeing this we need another Ice-and-ghost type and we need more regional forms. Lol. Either way this Pokémon has so much potential for a story. Like imagine the creepiness if you see this Pokémon out and about in a storm.
-Deerling, Sawsbuck: The problem with having Pokémon who are normal type is there are usually normal types you're bound to forget are even normal types. This is it for me. And Litleo/Pyroar. And probably that one Normal-and-Water type that probably isn't Bibarel. Lol. Either way I'd love to see a Bambi styled story with these guys in it. Or an interesting love story with these guys and a different deer Pokémon...perhaps Stantler? Idk. I just want to see more with this Pokémon. Imagine a deer team in the police force. Be interesting alright.
-Foongus, Amoongus: Like these Pokémon would seem sus, but they aren't. They didn't do any murders. But they'd still be sus because of their names. Lol. I could also imagine a sad story about a Foongus trying to make a friend, but failing due to their poisonous spores or whatever. I just want to see more of Gen five not gonna lie. Hey, that rhymed.
-Frillish, Jellicent: The water needs more exploration in Pokémon stories. This is a crime. One of the greatest water types still has nothing much for stories. An underwater adventure is needed. Yes. Under sea Pokémon need to be shown way more often. Maybe in more aquariums or small ponds. Who knows. Just would need more of these Pokémon. Maybe a backstory on how this Pokémon was once a different Frillish/Jellicent, but they all died and turned into ghost types. That appears to be the case with Galarian Decidueye.
-Alomomola: A love story with this and Luvdisc is sensed. Lol. That or a motherly figure is what this Pokémon could play. Or some sort of unknown strong-yet-mysterious fighter. Like Quagsire in Mystery Dungeon Gates to Infinity.
-Joltik, Galvantula: I feel like this could be a great Pokémon to add to any fanfiction. It could be a very strong Pokémon that's just assumed to be weak because of the bug typing or the size of the Joltik is under appreciated due to it being the smallest Pokémon ever. Stuff like that.
-Ferroseed, Ferrothorn: A great steel/grass type. Why am I getting a steel squad vibe here? Anyways imagine this thing being a leader or some sansei. Would be a cool and interesting idea. Of course, there's other good ideas with this Pokémon like a love story with it and a fire type and so on and so forth.
-Klink, Klang, Klinklang: Some serious lore behind these guys. Why do such gears exist? Are they related to Magnemite, Magnetone, and Magneton? Are they a part of why Magernea is even alive? There's so much story potential with these three. Are they man made? Are they ghosts? Should they be electric types as well? Ect.
-Elgyem: Beheeyem: imagine a story where they're ostracized because they look like aliens/Ultra Beasts, but they're not. I could see so much with these guys. Like where did they even come from? It'd be an interesting thing. Like space is different than just worm hole things, but it'd be interesting if they were Ultra Beasts just able to breed.
-Litwick, Lampent, Chandelure: Looking at all these ghost types I haven't used it's surprising to see how many cool ghost types could get even more stories than just some dinky ghost squad. Also the creepy lore with ghost types, especially the Lampent—Shield: It lurks in cities, pretending to be a lamp; Once it finds someone whose death is near, it will trail quietly after them. Now that's got some potential for a misunderstanding. Especially in a story. Creepy.
-Cubchoo, Beartic: I feel like they're mostly used as some sort of bully or abuser in fanfictions. I would love to see some bear love tbh. Like enough with the bears being bad. We need to see reformation or see some good bears. Especially ice type bears who could definitely be a good bodyguard.
-Cryogonal: This Pokémon is so forgettable we need a good ice story, ice squad, with Pokémon like this who get the spotlight. Definitely a Pokémon with the same amount of background as Unown and Sigilyph.
-Mienfoo, Mienshau: This is probably one of the most underrated fighting types. Besides Bernie Sanders and Muppet man. I would like to see them more in fanfictions. They're fighting types, and fighting types should be seen more in stories. And not just Lucario and Riolu.
-Druddigon: Probably one of the most underrated dragons. Don't really see it much in fanfictions, and I prefer to see this over the two other species lines of Axew and Deion since those are more common to find in fanfictions even if they are not much more than Druddigon. This reminds me of the Dragon Squad. It's not a good squad, but I can create something interesting for it if I want to. The leader is a Druddigon.
-Golett, Golurk: The past of these Pokémon are curious as well. This could also make a good addition to the ghost squad if I think about it long enough. I just think this is another Gen five Pokémon that can sometimes be overlooked for Ryperior.
-Pawniard, Bisharp: I think I see these more as villains. Not heroes. Anti-heroes are also cool and all, but making them completely evil is kind of boring. I kinda want to see a dark squad or some sort of dark team that proves they're good.
-Bouffalant: A good portion of deer-like Pokemon are ignored. Especially if they're just a normal Gen fiver like this guy. Would love to see what people could use this beefy guy for. Something with strength for sure. And possibly other things as well. Like perhaps they can carry a person like in the games or something. A rider Pokémon that can be their best friend. Something like that.
-Heatmor, Durant: I just thought I'd put these two together since they coexist as predator and prey. I feel like Heatmor is definitely an underrated Heatran. I honestly could see this guy evolving into one tbh. And Durant is one of those other steel-bug types other than Scizor. And I think it needs more inclusion as well.
-Larvesta, Volcrona: I don't really want to address these two since I think there might be a few stories on them, but since they're bugs I still feel like more is needed on them. Not to mention how since Gen five needs more representation, these guys should be included.
-Cobalion, Terrakion, Verizon, Keldeo: while I have seen a few involving these I think there's definitely more stories that can be made out of these Musketeers. Especially Cobalion and Terrakion. Keldeo and Verizon I have seen in a few fanfictions tbh. Especially Keldeo. But I would like to see more from these legendaries.
-Tornadus, Thunderous, Landorus, and Enamorous: Yes the last one is super new, but I still haven't seen as many for these Gen five legends. And I'm sure someone can make a decent Fanfiction using these guys. They scream misunderstanding. Especially in legends Arceus. Lol.
-Meloetta, Genesect: In general I feel like these two mythicals are just generally ignored. I keep forgetting Genesect is technically a bug legendary, but even then he's not...so..yeah. Also a story involving Meloetta would be pretty enchanting.
-Quilladin: Now as heavily underrated as this Pokémon is alongside Chespin and Chesnaught, I feel like the one that's the most underrated is the mid evolution...though it does look like one of the worst mid stages in my opinion and I don't like it as much as I could with Dewott or Charmeleon. However, having a story with more Quilladin would definitely give more glory to middle evolutions like this one who deserve better than to be called ugly.
-Bunnelby, Diggersby: for me, it's more on Diggersby since I know of at least one story with my man, Bunnelby. But still, I feel the underratedness of both of these bunnies. These two are chads in their own right. Not to mention how much I actually like Bunnelby and Diggersby over Lopbunny and Buneary. No offense to Purplecliffe or any due hard Lopbunny fans. Though perhaps being thirsty for alpha Lopbunny is a sign people need to touch some grass. Not to mention Garde...anyways, these two Pokémon bunnies deserve to be used in fanfictions more. Especially in some cute bunny romance Pokémon style.
-Scatterbug, Spewpa, Vivillion: Bug types again are greatly underrated. Nothing better than seeing the colors and uniqueness of Vivillion and the other two in fanfictions. Not gonna lie it would color up any fanfiction and make people notice that Bug types are superior to Fire types. Though they are 2x weak to it.
Litleo, Pyroar: I forget about these two as being normal-fire a lot. Not to mention they're mostly used for villains in stories. Why does it feel like the cat-like Pokémon are almost always some sort of villainous figure? I remember this one story where a Meowth was a little bit of a jerk, but he wasn't necessarily a villain. Most of the other things I've seen for cat Pokémon are evil basically. Or portraying them as super huge assholes who aren't redeemable. I would like to see a noble story on a noble lion who does anything to protect even those who've wronged them.
-Flabebe, Floette, Florges: Despite these Pokémon being cool Fairy types, I don't really see much out of them. Even less than some other Pokémon out there. I would absolutely love to see more people use these Pokémon in battle, especially since X and Y focused on a resurrection of Floette. But seeing them in stories would be a great idea for showing these three a little love.
-Skiddo, Gogoat: Despite these being powerhouses I don't see much for these really good grass types. I would love to see these guys in any kind of story. They're really cute and really intriguing. I could imagine some kind of herd story for these two that focuses on them sticking together and trying not to fall apart or divide and conquer.
-Furfrou: I think this was a villain once? Idk. Feels like this would be what this Pokémon would be if given into the children's grubby hands. But I can imagine a story where a wild Furfrou has to be adopted to save his/her life and they experience getting groomed for the first time. It would be a cute little story to see.
-Espurr, Meowstic: I don't think these are as underrated, but I haven't seen much for them. Welp it's not as if I haven't had a lot of cat Pokémon romance going on. Lol. But yeah. Espurr and Meowstic would be really cool to see more fanfictions on and just even more love.
-Honedge, Doublade, Aegislash: I feel like this might be self explanatory. There aren't really much for these Pokémon in terms of Fanfiction and stories. There's tons of lore on the sword Pokémon as well as just general cool ideas that people could write based on this sword Pokémon.
-Spritzee, Aromatisse, Swirlix, Slurpuff: I decided to put all four of these together since they're so underrated in fanfictions they're mostly used as foodies or "fat" Pokémon. They never really add much to the fanfictions they're in, and I think they could add a lot of interesting things. Plus they're fairy types. It's not like using these Pokémon in fanfictions is forbidden. I'd really like to see them become more relevant in fanfictions. They deserve this.
-Binacle, Barbaracle: Where are the fanfictions for these two? I think it's a cool idea to use these two in fanfictions. Anyone up for some BisharpxBarbaracle? Idk. It was a cool ship I just thought of for this Pokémon. But I could also easily see these two as adventurers or possibly some sort of move tutor. Maybe even more just depending on all the possibilities within the fanfictions.
-Skrelp, Dragalge: These are really cool water types. Definitely a cool setting in the ocean. Imagine a guild or some sort of squad within the ocean. Would be pretty sick.
-Clauncher, Clawitzer: Powerful Pokémon who deserve to be in some sort of fanfiction. Perhaps a lifeguard or some kind of misunderstood hero?
-Helioptile, Heliolisk: I want to see more fanfictions with these guys. Do they have fanfictions? There's lots of possibilities with these two Pokémon. Romance, police officer, or perhaps some kind of underestimated villain who isn't seen too often, but is way more powerful than the actual villain in the story.
-Tyrunt, Tyrantrum, Amaura, Aurorus: I feel like fossils are severely underrated in fanfiction. I know Amaura and Aurorus are. They're really cool. I'd like to see a lot more fanfictions with fossils in general tbh. Am I the only one who can see Tyrantrum as some sort of motherly/fatherly figure? But it's more unwilling....idk. I just feel like there's so much potential with these fossils in specifics.
-Dedenne: I feel like pika clones are super hated on just because they're the general mouse-like Pokémon of the region. I'm pretty sure they have regionals for dogs and cats too, so wouldn't Pokémon like Luxray also be Meowth Clones? Questions are hard. Lol. But yeah. Dedenne should get even more fanfictions than the two or three fanfictions I have with Dedenne. Lol. It's a really unique typing of Electric-and-Fairy.
-Carbink: I know this Pokémon isn't the best, but it's such a good setup for a story with Diancie and Carbink and just the work force with Diance and Carbink in it. Or a love story with the two. Or something with Carbink. Perhaps some kind of treasure story? Idk. There's a lot you can do besides high school stories and LucarioxBraixen.
-Klefki: I mean it's a key. It could be in a treasure chest finding, or rescuing story. Plus imagine how underprepared other Pokémon would be. Seeing the Klefki and thinking they could win only to get beat up. 🤣
-Phantump, Trevenant: I love these two ghost types. I would really like to see more on these in stories. There's a lot of story and lore potential with these two Pokémon. I'm not even sure if it's been explored fully, but that's a creepy story waiting to happen. Like imagine if you're a child who got lost in the woods and died and then became these two Pokémon. Spooky.
-Pumpkaboo, Gourgeist: It's funny how there's two back to back Grass-and-Ghost type Pokémon who are on this list, but like I said Ghost types are greatly underused in fanfictions. Spookiness in stories is advised. I like a good horror element to my Pokemon fanfictions. Or even just a slight spooky feel. Plus it could make such an interesting character to have a Pumpkin ghost just exist somewhere. Literally could have a detective ghost pumpkin trying to solve mysteries. Or perhaps their past are the memories? Huh? Huh? 🤩
-Bergmite, Avalugg: Hisuian or regular, these Pokémon are greatly desired from myself in fanfictions. I like it when there's ice types in fanfictions. Imagine if someone gets lost or a Pokémon gets lost and an ice type like Bergmite or Avalugg go and help them. Or perhaps they help the said Pokémon or trainer on a journey just out of curiosity of the world outside of blizzards and mountains. So many possibilities to explore.
-Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde: I'm pretty sure these are used way more than most of the Pokémon on this list. At least Xerneas and Yveltal. Though, I've seen Yveltal being used as such a major baddie. I can understand that Yveltal does steal the life out of Pokémon, but I don't think this Pokémon would just randomly attack a main character out of nowhere. What's the story behind the death Pokémon destroying said Pokémon? Is it because it's hungry? There's just so much more to Yveltal than death and destruction it's so insultive to see. Not to mention that Zygarde has such an important role in the trio, but yet only two really make any appearances in most of the fanfictions. I would like to see all three work together in a fanfiction tbh. Where Yveltal destroys an evil entity or Pokémon who's causing a lot of damage, where Xerneas brings back anyone who gets hit by Yveltal's beams in order to ensure the survival of the innocents in the area, and Zygarde making sure havoc isn't wreaked up and make sure Yveltal and Xerneas don't try to kill one another. That would be a cool idea.
-Diancie, Hoopa, Volcanion: I'll be honest: I think these three mythicals aren't nearly as underrated as the rest, but I do believe there is a lack of good stories with Diancie, Hoopa, and Volcanion outside of the anime. I would really like to see more lore related stories with these Pokémon. Isn't Hoopa kind of antagonistic too? I feel like Diancie is really and truly one of the more interesting of the three. I mean Diancie has what a mega? I would like to see more prehistoric stories with these three. I think seeing such stuff could be interesting and add more diversity to the stories. Perhaps these guys could be a part of some really important research or plot? Would be cool.
-Grubbin, Charjabug, Vikavolt: There. Is. So. Much. Potential! Why is Vikavolt so popular if it's not gonna be in stories? I don't understand the bug hate! I think seeing this Pokémon in a story is a cool idea. Vikavolt could be an interesting character to see in a fanfiction. And Grubbin and Charjabug? I would love to see some small details about them in stories or more. I just think it's unfair these are so popular, yet I see little to nothing on these cool bugs. Then again, they are Gen seven.
-Crabrawler, Crabominable:Ah yes. A sort of yeti Pokémon that I could imagine being a good fatherly figure to a Pokémon abandoned within the mountains or within the tall grass. Ah yes, what a good Pokémon with a pretty cool typing. Would love to see this in more fanfictions and I think a romance with Crabrawler/ Crabombinable would be cool. There's at least two other sorts of crabs. Though they're not yeti crabs it seems.
-Oricorio: Probably the most underrated birb. Would love to see a dance themed story around Oricorio since there's specific typings. Or perhaps a story about two Oricorio learning to like each other who dislike each other and their dancing moves. Both girls possibly. I think it would be a cool idea.
-Cutiefly, Ribombee: When you think of bees this isn't the bees. Although I feel like these two are cool bees who deserve more fanfictions. Justice for bug types tbh. Imagine a story about a Cutiefly or Ribombee trying to help their hive or perhaps leave their hive to find more flowers. Or perhaps a friendship/love story between Ribombee and Florges. Would be a pretty powerhouse of a friendship. Not kidding a flower and a bee being friends is such a cute dynamic.
-Wishiwashi: Isn't this one of the most powerful water types out there when there's a school of them? Imagine a story where there is a hive mind or some sort of group projection and the leader has to bring all the other Wishiwashi to a safe place and they have to fight their way to survive as a group. Something of the sort. I think it's a cool idea. Perhaps the big Wishiwashi entity is something else entirely...who knows. I just know possibilities with Wishiwashi aren't as limited as they seem.
-Mudbray, Mudsdale: Honestly the only reason these two I feel aren't as written is because there's more noted ground types. But the ground type horse is one of the coolest ones. I feel like a wild-like story with horse Pokémon could be an interesting thing. Or perhaps we see what the ride Mudsdale feels when walking on rocks and all.
-Dewpider, Araquanid: Honestly because it's Gen seven I have to say it deserves more notability. It's a good bug type. Most of the good bug types aren't being written about and it sucks because most of the good ones aren't weak to things like fire or flying. Honestly seeing this Pokémon in any sort of setting in a story would be nice. These two Pokémon deserve way better off.
-Fomantis, Lurantis: Honestly I feel like Grass types in this generation outside of Rowlet and it's evolutions don't get as much love as they deserve. I actually really like Fomantis and Lurantis' designs, but I just never bothered to use it since I had favorites and all. And Mudsdale was just too op. Lol. Anyways, these Pokémon deserve to be the main focus of some story or some really important side characters. I actually would like to see stories where they focus specifically on just one type of Pokémon and give underrated Pokémon in that typing more love and more attention. Making main characters or important side characters one of these two Pokémon would definitely be a decent idea as well as change the face of storylines forever. We don't need to see starters as often. There's over 800 Pokémon by this point. Probably even over 1k by the time Scarlet and Violet are released. So not all attention needs to be on just popular Pokémon. There are Pokémon like Lurantis and Fomantis who have very good designs who deserve a lot of fanfictions or storylines.
-Morelull, Shiinotic: Now this is probably one of the most underrated grass types of all time. A grass-and-fairy type. Yet I keep thinking there's nothing for Grass-and-fairy. Lol. Anyways, I personally think a story of any kind with these two cool Pokémon would be a good idea. I mean Parasect exists and these two Pokémon are basically mushrooms as well. Imagine a good character being this Shiinotic able to convince villains with their spores to be good. Usually it's to do whatever the heck they want them to do, but in this case it would be for good. There's even more possibilities like perhaps a friendship between this and an Impidimp. Or something. I just feel like this Pokémon should get more love in the Fanfiction community. It may not be the best grass type, but it is one of the more underrated, yet powerful.
-Bounsweet, Steenee, Tsareena: Now I've been giving these three a little more love in my fanfictions. I've introduced a villain Steenee, and a hero Tsareena—which I might keep the eeveexpikachu just because of the possibilities with Tsareena. Now these three Pokémon are also greatly underrated Gen seven grass types. And I think we could use even more of them. Reminder that that grass focused story could exist. There's plenty of options to include. Also aren't these Pokémon tech silly considered waifus? Also can anyone else imagine a romance involving these three and Smoliv or some other Pokémon like the Budew line. It would be a pretty unique idea to have these in stories. Plus I just love seeing more variety of Grass types in stories.
-Comfey: Tbh if you think comfey just think it might be underrated. This unevolveable Pokémon is especially underrated as well. I would like to see a couple fanfictions involving this Pokemon. Am I the only one who can see a ComfeyxKlefki?
-Oranguru, Passimian: These two monkeys honestly are some of the coolest monkeys within the whole franchise. But I don't see much for them. I would definitely love to see some wild stories with these two Pokémon.
-Wimpod, Golisopod: When all the good bugs keep getting ignored for Lucario who isn't as good as the bug type. Not joking. I think Golisopod is way cool and stronger than Lucario. Lucario is just the portrait of furries, so it's easier to use in fanfictions. Or perhaps I'm just complaining about how overused in fanfictions Lucario is. Not kidding. Give Golisopod a chance to shine. It would be way cooler to see. We already know Lucario's aura stuff and such. We need more bug appreciation.
-Sandygast, Palossand: Honestly this is the one ghost type I can never remember. And this is a good typing too. I would really like to see all the creative ways these two can be used as these two are literally beach creatures who are in the sand. Imagine if these Pokémon never left the sand of the beaches or that the sand makes their attacks stronger....anyways it's a cool idea to see these Pokémon in fanfictions as I feel like these guys don't really get enough love.
-Pyukumuku: a one staged Pokémon who I think could be a good addition to any story. You could make tons of interesting fanfictions from this Pokémon alone. Doesn't it have some sort of strange ghost hand as a tail? That could make an interesting story if it's pulled off right.
-Type:Null, Silvally: As op and popular these two are I rarely see anything with them. I would love to see a story where these two show up. In Pokémon specific stories it would be cool to see this Pokémon be in possession of the RK types without a held item. Would be a pretty neat way of showing how they no longer needed items since they were in the wild. I think it's also just an interesting idea to boot.
-Minior: Honestly I'm down for more lore about Minior. Especially if it's within a story or a fanfiction. Does the Pokédex even fully explain where these little star rocks come from? Also why is the shiny Minior black and looks like it has confetti in it? Lol. There's so many mysteries surrounding this specific Pokémon. Also Minior stories would be pretty badass. Or adorable. Who knows.
-Komala: I always forget about this Gen seven normal type. It's such an interesting Pokémon too. You could easily create lore stories or just a story about an obliviously strong Komala who is fast asleep when they fight others. It would be an interesting story idea for sure.
-Turtonator: I don't think anyones jumped on the train to write about this cool guy. It might be me watching Fusion play Emily Wants to Play and imagining Turtonator having this, but I can imagine one of these guys having a job as a clown and becoming a hero who is misunderstood. Idk. I'm just ranting here. I really feel like there's some missed opportunities with this guy...imagine all the ships with this guy.
-Togedemaru: Though I don't think this guy is nearly as underrated as said dragon above, I feel like this guy is just deemed as a pika clone and hated because of it. It sucks because this Pokémon could have many cute stories. Possibly ship stories with Pikachu and all the other clone Pokémon.
-Bruxish: though this isn't one of my favorite water types, the fact that you could make a ship story with this Pokémon is a great possibility. Also imagine an underd—underfish story with this Pokémon. You could always have an ocean story like I said or you can always get the fish out of water. Anyways I feel like this fish is greatly under appreciated and deserves some of the spotlight. After all, these fish can learn Psychic Fangs.
-Drampa: Let's be honest, this Pokémon would make a great grandpa in a story. Or perhaps a fatherly figure or guardian of some kind. Would be cool to see/ make a story about a Drampa trying to help a Dunsparce out. I really wish Drampa was the evolution of Dunsparce. It felt like a missed opportunity.
-Dhemise: Anothet ghost and grass type. But this one gets even more put under the rug. Imagine a story where a Dhemise is trapped in a sunken ship and needs assistance. That would make a good mission for the Starter Squad not gonna lie. Or you could have this Pokémon go on an adventure to find treasure. If the coin Pokémon exists in Gen nine then that would make the story even better.
-Tapu Koko, Lele, Fini, Bulu: I would pronounce all of the Tapu, but I think you know their names. Anyways, I really feel the need for a story about all four of these guys. I feel like it would be a cool idea. There's many things you could do with these guys. They are island guardians after all. It wouldn't be so far fetched as some of those romances I've read. Idk why I still read them. Anyways, you could always focus on Tapu Koko since this one seems to be the main one and there can be some kind of plot that's someone or some Pokémon going against them. Idk. I feel like there's just so much potential for a story I might just make a Tapu KokoxTapu Fini plus a story focused on this since it's definitely a missed opportunity.
-Ultra Beasts: I don't want to go into specifics of them, but I feel like these specific beasts aren't as utilized as they could be. Imagine if there was an alien invasion of these guys within the Starter Squad universe. I say this because I have a few universes with SS being one and PKMD being another one entirely. But still these guys could have plenty of potential as well as villain/anti hero material.
-Magearna, Marshadow: I wanted to put these two together because I feel like these two are considerably important, yet I rarely see them in stories. I would love a lore story on either of these. I would also just love to see them represented in a story. I know Marshadow is a little bit misunderstood, and Magearna is considerably more of an interesting lore factor. I would love to see what would happen if someone or a Pokémon thought Marshadow was a bad guy and tried to take them down only to be proven wrong and the real villain managed to get away or was tricking the hero. Would be a neat touch. It wouldn't help that the Marshadow was trying to thwart the plans of the hero or gave a bad impression. And Magearna could easily be robot-like and have to learn how to act more like an organic Pokémon. It would definitely be something to consider. I just feel like this site lacks any of these two representation.
-Poipole, Naganadel: So the fact that these two Pokémon are super cool yet don't have many fanfictions is kind of disappointing. I really like their designs as these two are the closest two in strange looks wise to our legends in scarlet and violet. Also, just their out of world-like lore would be a very cool thing to explore. Plus imagine a mystery dungeon version of them where they explore. It would be a cool thing.
-Zeraora: I would honestly like to see more lore and more stories on this one. Though there's already a good few selection.
-Meltan, Melmetal: I don't really see anything on these two. Their lore and so much more could be explored. I really feel like people don't explore these two enough. I would love to see some kind of story on them.
-The whole of Gen eight: I will be excluding Scorbunny and the starters since it feels like these will be the ones who get stories on them above any other excellent Gen eight Pokémon. A few Pokémon who I feel like might need some stories are Scwovet, Greedant, Blipbug, Dottler, Eldegoss,Silicobra, Sandaconda, Arrocuda, Dracozolt, Arctozolt, Dracovish, Arctovish, and Regileki.
-Gen nine: obviously since it's new Gen nine and all of its critters are underrated. There might be a story on one or more of the starters by now, but I doubt it. If anything I do feel like the starters will be out of this list soon enough since people obviously like to....uhm.... "Anime" Sprigatito.
Anyways this is the huge list. Could be bigger, but I feel like a good portion of Pokémon I ignored were either popular or somewhat popular to not get on this list. There's obviously over 11k words worth of Pokémon who deserve more attention and I feel like it would be a good idea to start going through and trying to write about at least 50 of them or greater.
Let me know which ones you think I should add to stories and which ones deserve a little extra love as I continue to make romance stories about Pokémon that probably shouldn't even be written.
