Blooming In The Dark (contestshipping/ AU)
Previews of chapters one and two

Drew stared at one of the walls in the plain, white room. He was thinking of her, again. It had been a while since he had last seen May and he wondered if she was alright.
He hadn't seen her since he had congratulated her for doing a decent job at the Wallace Cup in Sinnoh.
"Drew."
No, not now. The green-haired boy closed his eyes in pure annoyance.
"Professor Abby."
Silence hung in the air for a while.
"What do you want this time?"
"You know what I want Drew. You know why you're here."
Oh yea. Right. Did I ever mention that that professor is crazy?
"Let's go Drew."
"I'm not going."
"If you wouldn't cooperate, you know what I'll have to do."
"Fine."
Finally opening his eyes, Drew slid off the bed, following the professor out of the room.
"How are my Pokémon?" The young coordinator asked.
"They've been in their pokeballs ever since you've gotten here. How many times are you going to ask me that same question?"
"As many times as I want." Drew replied flatly.
A pause.
"How long have I been here?"
"I can't answer that question."
"Why not?"
"Just cause."
Drew sighed, he had lost track of the time days? Months? Maybe even years ago. The laboratory had no windows, not even allowing him to know when day and night was.
Whenever they wanted him, the scientists would just call on him and expect him to be available, not caring about the time of the day.
Soon, the two humans reached a room labeled 'The Rock Simulator'.
"Here's the place." Professor Abby announced, making Drew gulp.
"You're not... you're not seriously going to do this right?" He asked the professor as they entered the main room. "I mean, the photosynthesis test and the DNA tests should be proof enough."
"They were Drew. That's why we're testing your abilities right now."
"How long exactly are you planning to keep me here?" Drew asked, suspecting that he already knew the dreaded answer.
The professor didn't reply him, making his heart sink even more.
"I'll be going to the other room." The Professor shoved him into the room, shut the door behind him. This efficiently locked Drew in the Rock Simulator room, making him feel a touch of worry for a second.
Great. He thought. Now I'm doomed.
Just as he had thought, rocks came raining down from the ceiling the very next moment.
"Welp..." Drew muttered, dodging the rocks to the best of his ability.
I did mention that that professor was mad, right?
He dodged a stone, hissing in pain as another hit his arm, ripping the cloth on his shoulder slightly.
Red liquid ran freely from the new wound, making Drew feel slightly sick just at the sight of it.
Perhaps, perhaps he should...
No. Don't do it.
But...
If he did it, maybe he'll stand a better chance at surviving.
Still, it held a ton of risks, all on its own.
Another stone pelted his foot, this time, not sharp enough to draw blood. However, it was still heavy enough to hurt.
He would have to do it, even though it meant risking his freedom even more than it was right now.
That, was the whole point of locking him in this room anyways.
The whole point of keeping him here.
Drew moved his hands in front of his body, a barrage of leaves materializing around him instantly and attacking the stones. Most of the falling stones shattered. However more stones took the place of those that were shattered, making Drew wonder if there was an end to these stones.
Great. There's more of them.
He attacked harder, sending more and more of the leaves towards the stones. He panted, already slightly exhausted due to the fact that he didn't do this often.
Finally, just as he thought that he could faint of exhaustion, the stones stopped falling, allowing him to catch his breath.
The door opened.
"Good job Drew! I thought you were going to die there!"
Yea, right. Thanks for wishing me dead professor.
"Your powers are starting to appear. Not bad."
Yea, only because you forced them out.
"Now, let's get you back to your room dear. You must be exhausted after all that."
Don't. Talk. To. Me. Like. That.
They reached the room soon enough, the professor roughly shoving Drew in and shutting the door.
Typical.
Lying down on his bed, he looked at the wound that he had gotten earlier. It was still bleeding slightly, crimson red flowing out onto his shirt.
Frowning at the wound, he decided not to use the blanket so that they wouldn't get dirty. Closing his eyes, he thought of the happy moments he had before he was stuck here, before he had been isolated from the world. A certain brunette popped into his mind, making him smile sadly as he entered the world of dreams.

May groaned, casting a glance at her Skitty. You know Skitty, if you didn't run in here, we could have been at the next town by now!
"Nya nya..." the little cat answered apologetically making May let out a sigh. "It's all right Skitty. We'll find a way out! Perhaps I could ask someone around the area to show me the way to the exit!" She decided, looking around. The facility seemed surprisingly deserted, a long corridor with doors on either side. Every now and then, the corridors would seem to split, showcasing other more interesting rooms.
Walking down the corridor, she realized that there were words on the doors of every room.
"Cheryl... Cilan... Natural... Aaron... What are all these words supposed to mean?"
May looked at the words, confused as to why they were there.
"Trinnia... Sawyer... Hau... Bryony..."
Looking into the small window on every door, she realized that there was a person in every room. Of course, some of them were empty. However, most of them housed humans.
"This..." she shook her head, getting rid of all the weird thoughts that have surfaced in it.
"I'm sure I must be hallucinating." She laughed nervously, not believing what she had seen though the windows.
She continued walking down the corridor, reading the names on each door as she walked pass.
Mallow, Sorrel, Wally, Butch...
Andrew.
She stopped.
That name... she stared at the door. It sounded familiar, somehow.
But why?
She froze slightly as she heard an annoyed growl from the inside of the room. "Is that you outside Professor Abby?"
That voice... but it can't be...
Why would he, of all people, be here?!
Drew...
Could it really be him?
May pieced together all the clues she had, hoping to find herself an answer.
Drew, the coordinator and her rival that went missing two years ago. The fact that he had never called, never contacted her ever since she had met him after the Wallace cup.
He had always asked her to call him Drew, but he had never said what his true name was.
An-drew.
She recalled all the people she had seen earlier. They were very different, that's for sure. However, they all had the same unique trait of housing natural green hair.
"Nya..." Skitty was rubbing on May's foot, trying to snap her out of her daydream.
"Whoever you are outside, you're not... you're not Professor Abby. Right?" The voice came again, making May even more certain that it was his voice.
"No..." May replied softly, looking through the window. There he was, sitting on the bed. However, he seemed unable to see her for some weird reason. She noticed the gash on his shoulder, wincing as she wondered how he had gotten it.
"Who are you?" He asked, clearly looking at the window.
May's heart sank. Does he not... remember me?
"You seem sad, whoever you are. Do I know you?"
May felt her heart palpitating faster. When... when did Drew gain the ability to feel whatever she was feeling?
"I wish I could see you, whoever you are. I know that you could see me but... I can't see you. The door... it only allows people from the outside to see whoever's inside and not the other way round."
May relaxed slightly, so he hadn't forgotten who she was.
A pause.
"Mind introducing yourself?"
May stiffened. Should she introduce herself?
Just then, she heard the sound of footsteps. Realizing that there was someone coming by from around the corner, she quickly fled the area, hiding into a different corridor behind a fire extinguisher. Sure, it wasn't the best hiding spot. In fact, her hair could easily be seen! However she knew that it was the best she could find in her limited time.
She watched as the black-haired women walked pass where she had once been, not even taking a glance in her direction. Still, that was a close call.
She waited for a while, counting the seconds as they went by.
The coast should be clear now.
When she was sure that she couldn't hear any footsteps, she walked out into the open, tiptoeing back towards the door Drew was behind.
"Drew... it's me. May."
———————————
May.
I was hallucinating right? May... it couldn't be her... it can't be.
"Drew, it's really me."
Yet again, that voice definitely belonged to her.
"May... what are you doing here? How did you get here in the first place?" He tried calming himself down.
"Skitty ran into the facility and I kind of wounded up in here." The voice outside continued.
I relaxed slightly. So, they didn't capture her after all.
"May, have you been spotted?" He asked, praying to arceus that she hadn't.
"Nope."
Inwardly, Drew let out a sigh of relief.
"You have to get out of here, pronto. And no matter what you do, do not get spotted. Do you hear me?"
May blinked.
"You can't seriously expect me to leave you here right? I haven't seen or heard from you in two years. Have you any idea how upset I was? I thought you were avoiding me on purpose! Then... I find you stuck here, two years later. I don't even know if I'm hallucinating right now!"
Drew felt as though something had been stabbed through his chest.
"Two years? I have been here for two years?!" He was freaking out, unable to comprehend the fact that he had been stuck in this place for so long.
"Drew?"
"I've been here for two years... two freaking years..."
"Drew?"
He shook his head, his expression full of pain, disbelief and shock.
May had personally never seen him so vulnerable. Making her slightly terrified. What had he been going through the past two years?
"Drew..."
The green-haired boy lifted his head, looking at the door.
"May... get out of here before they spot you. Please." His eyes were pleading, making it difficult for May to protest.
Why do you have to make things so difficult Drew...
"Why?" She finally asked.
"Because, they may kill you if they find you here." His voice seemed to be trembling somewhat, making May even more concerned.
"Do me a favor and escape from here." He continued. "Live your dream of becoming a top coordinator and just... leave me behind."
"Drew, I got that title a year ago."
"Yet you are still unable to control your skitty."
"Drew!"
Silence.
"Drew... before I leave, at least tell me why you're here."
The green-haired boy stared at the door once more. He seemed listless, seemingly thinking about something.
"I'm here because of an insane theory that all green-haired humans are part grass-type Pokémon." He began. "They checked my DNA, and found out that I may be part Roserade. So they're keeping me here to do experiments on me." He gave a short summary. "Professor Abby... she doesn't want the world to find out about her work. If you get spotted, they may kill you for finding out."
He closed his eyes.
"You're not the first person that wandered in here by accident. And the rest of those that did, they never made it out."

This was supposedly a one-shot but...
Umm...
I think it just became a full length story. (That would be coming soon and hopefully not discontinued halfway like my last one)
So, here's the future cover:
Credits to wherever I got the pictures from.
Lol.
