3rd person POV:

It was the day. Finally!

The Jubilife City Fair was open, and the public was buzzing, mainly because this was the first one to be seen in Sinnoh. Two people in particular, a girl named Zoey and a boy named Y/n were especially estatic, mainly because they were excited to use the new Polaroid camera that Y/n had gotten for his 13th birthday.

This was also Y/n's first chance at freedom and a girlfriend, because 1. He'd lost the trust ever since he'd risked everything he knew just to snap a picture of a Zapdos on his Rotomdex, and 2. He'd had a massive crush on her ever since 3rd grade.

They went back ever since that moment in the Photography Club:

It started like a usual Photography Club meeting, with Y/n starting off the meeting with his usual greeting phrase: "Okay, has anyone snapped anything cool since last week?"

And everyone stated "Look at this!", which was the cue for chaos and Rotomdexes flying everywhere possible.

But that day, Gardenia, the principal, walked in stating, "Hello everyone! Sorry for interrupting, but we have a new student joining us!" She stepped aside as she stated, "Everyone, meet Zoey! She's going to be joining us from Snowpoint City! Now, remember, we are an amazing representation of Celestic Town, so please make her feel welcome!" Then she left.

Everyone took that statement to heart.

Maybe a little too literally.

Suddenly, everyone was on her like a cheetah chasing a zebra, wanting to know what it was like being the new kid, what her favorite color was, etc. However, the one who chased after her the most was Y/n: it was as if some unstoppable force had taken over him and forced him toward her. At first he didn't know what the feeling was, but at about 10, he realized: "This is love."

"Sorry?" Zoey asked. She hadn't  heard what he'd said.

"Nothing," Y/n responded, looking away as to hide that red face of his.

They became closer friends after that, becoming assistant photographers to Gardenia in 6th grade. Their love of photography never faded.

Which brings us to today.

Unbeknownst to Y/n, Zoey returned his feelings. What attracted her to him was that he tried too hard in everything. She appreciated it when he helped her with edits, angles, etc.

And she pounced at the idea of going to the Jubilife City Fair alone with him and his Polaroid camera, she figured it was time for some memories.

After making plans, packing, and saying goodbye, they were off to Jubilife City!

The next day:

"Thank you for coming, and enjoy the fair!"

A ribbon snapped, and the crowd propelled forward!

The fair was packed, with multiple rides already having at minimum 300 people in line. Y/n and Zoey walked around at first, enjoying the sights and smells, colors and people, but they weren't exactly sure on what to do.

Their stomachs decided for them.

Laughing, Zoey proclaimed, "Let's eat then!"

Seeing a corn dog stand, they went over and bought one for both to share. Except it was ginormous!

Y/n readied the Polaroid camera. "Alright, Zoey, bite into it!"

At the perfect moment, Zoey stuffed her mouth into the corn dog.

Laughing at the picture they got afterward, they begun eating the hot dog. However, they didn't cut it in half, so once they reached the middle point, they realized that they were staring into each other's eyes, their lips not very far apart.

Blushing, Zoey pulled away. "Uh, well..." Looking around for a distraction, she spotted one. Pointing, she exclaimed, "...Let's go to that ride! That seems fun!"

"O-of course!" Y/n said afterward, his face also the same shade.

After packing up, they ran to the coaster, the close call forgotten. Laughing the whole line through, they finally reached the actual ride and got fastened. Then, Y/n pulled the Polaroid out again. "Make the goofiest face you can!"

Once again, a laughing fit ensued. Then the coaster begun to propel forward.

"Ohp, looks like it's time to go!" Y/n stated, putting the picture and Polaroid away.

After the twists and turns of the ride, Zoey puked out half the corn dog she ate, while Y/n had to drink multiple glasses of water to keep it down. Both colliding into each other, they started to giggle uncontrollably. Unable to stop until someone pointed it out, they walked toward the stands (the ones that you win stuff from...?).

Leaning toward Zoey, Y/n whispered, "Bet you I can win a Togekiss charm before you."

"I don't believe it," Zoey whispered back.

"Wanna bet?"

"Absolutely." And so 300 pokedollars was bet.

After hours of playing, Y/n lost miserably. However, Zoey handed him the charm anyway.

"Wouldn't want you without luck!" Zoey laughed (kindly). And as she had her back turned, Y/n thought, I definitely need luck by the end of the night.

Taking another picture with the charm, they moved on to a donut stand. Togepi was carved into the center part of the donut, and they were devoured, with another picture.

Dusk was arriving swiftly, and the fair was slightly less crowded. By nature, this meant that a spectacular moment was about to happen.

Having been around the entire fair and running for around 6 hours, the two were tired. So, Y/n suggested a calmer attraction: the Ferris Wheel of Fairies.

His plan was to take Zoey on the attraction, then ask her out there, at the top of the attraction at the peak of dusk and night. However, the attraction was now broken!

Annoyed, Y/n yelled, "It's not fair! Life doesn't ever cooperate with me! Why can't anything go right for once!"

"Hey, that's not true-" Zoey started. Y/n interrupted.

"This was my moment! This was my chance! I wanted a moment to ask her out! My stupid life is just-"

"Wait!" Zoey screamed. Y/n stopped immediately, worried he'd messed things up even more.

"You were planning on asking me out this whole time?" Zoey asked, smirking.

Embarrassed, Y/n stuttered, "N-no! Why would I do tha-"

He was interrupted by a peck to the lips.

Afterwards, Zoey said, "You should've told me in the first place! I'd love to go out with you!"

Eyes sparkling, another kiss was exchanged as the first firework shone in the sky...
