Severed Hearts(Pokémon x Final fantasy iv crossover)
Many years ago, a world renowned Pokemon professor named Samuel Oak found a crying infant in the tall grass near Pallet Town during a research trip. He was shocked when he saw that the baby boy resembled his lost daughter, Sky. Taking pity on the baby, he took him in and named him Blue, because the baby boy had the same colored eyes as his daughter. He then raised him as his own.
Also eventually taken in by Oak, was Red. His father had left for a journey shortly after he was born, and never returned, leaving him and his mother alone.
And so, the professor raised the two with only the best. They grew up so closely that they considered themselves brothers. Both became prodigies at Pokemon battling. Oak couldn't have been more proud.
Sometimes, when the two would practice in the tall grass, they would see a girl their age playing with Pokemon. She had bright eyes and golden hair. When the two talked to her, they found out that her name was Yellow. Her father, she said, had died years ago. She only had an Uncle these days, but he was never home. That was the day their group of two grew to three. Blue and Red even introduced the girl to the Professor, who instantly began treating her as one of his own children as well.
Things began to change as they got older though. Both Red and Blue were working towards their dreams of becoming Pokemon Masters, while Yellow honed her skills as a Healer. You'd think that this would make them closer, but it didn't. Slowly, Yellow began spending more time with Blue, and Red was left alone. As it was, Blue and Yellow were developing feelings for each other, while Red had unrequited feelings for Yellow. However, he hid these feelings so that he could remain friends with both of them.
The professor began asking the boys to accomplish strange tasks for him, but he taught them everything, so they obeyed. After Blue questioned his requests one day, Professor Oak sent both Red and Blue on a mission to Cerulean City. Their job was to deliver a package there. Together, they departed.
They met three older girls wearing summer dresses by the city limits. In fact, they were blocking their way. "Excuse me," Blue told them. The girls shook their heads, and one pointed to the box they were carrying between them.
"What's in the box?" She asked.
"Don't know," Red shrugged and tried to walk around them, but they just stepped in front of him.
"We can't let you pass," they said. "Please, return from whence you've come." Blue shook his head.
"We have to deliver this." Both girls withdrew two pokéballs each.
"Then we have no choice but to stop you ourselves." White light erupted from their capsules, and Red and Blue hardly had enough time to bring out their own Pokemon.
After only fifteen minutes later, all six of the girls' Pokemon had fainted, but Red and Blue still had all of theirs at nearly full health. "We have you defeated. Now let us pass," Red stated agitatedly. The girls lifted up their heads, blue eyes somber.
"You still wish to enter?" The boys each nodded, and then the girls took out switchblades.
"We'd been hoping it wouldn't come to this." And they charged.
Had old Professor Oak not been a retired boxer himself and taught Blue and Red how to defend themselves, they would've been dead the moment the girls drew blades. However, they knew how to protect themselves, and managed to keep those knives from slitting their throats. Blue finally knocked the final girl's switchblade away.
"Please stop; we only want to pass."
"Well we can't let that happen!" She snarled, pulling out another knife and raised her hand, ready to plunge it into his neck. Only an attack from his Charizard prevented that. The fire type used a body slam to throw her to the concrete. A few feet away, Red was facing the same dilemma. Venusaur also had to rescue his Trainer from two girls, with a Hyper Beam.
"You okay, Red Fire?" His partner grunted in response.
"Peachy. You?"
"Just fine," he replied sarcastically. Then he saw the girls all sprawled on the ground, unmoving. He rushed towards them and pressed a finger to their necks, rushing to the next when one gave no pulse.
Nothing. From any of them. He turned back to look at Red.
"Red.... They're dead. All of them."
"We had no choice. It was them or us. They were going to kill us, Blue." The ginger scrunched his face up.
"Still, I wish it didn't have to come to this."
"Stop worrying about it. C'mon, let's go."
Much to their surprise, the package burst open the moment the two stepped foot with Cerulean City, and released hundreds of shrunken pokéballs onto the concrete, where they expanded into their full size and clicked open.... Releasing an angry horde of Voltorb and Talonflame. Blue and Red could only watch with horror as the flaming birds torched buildings as they flew, and the Voltorb bounced everywhere. One rolled over to a transformer box... And used Self-destruct. One by one, the Pokemon exploded.
Screams were heard everywhere as the Pokemon wrecked havoc. Several people ran into the streets with their hair and clothes on fire, only to fall down dead after a few steps. Blue was in shock.
"This... Is what we were sent to do...?"
Staring at the flaming scene before them, Red answered lowly. "He wished this city torched."
"No....
"Why?" The teen collapsed on his knees, and smashed his hand into broken concrete. "WHY!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?"
Loud sobs could be heard nearby, close to the entrance where the two came in. A girl about their age kneeled beside the bodies of the three girls. Blue and Red couldn't help creeping closer.
The girl had red, almost orange, hair styled in a side-ponytail and was sobbing uncontrollably. "My sisters... Why did you have to get killed? Just because your Pokemon fainted...." More sobs wracked her body. "WHY DID YOU HAVE TO KEEP FIGHTING TO PROTECT OUR CITY?!" she finally screamed. Blue exchanged a glance with Red.
"They were only trying to protect their city?" The girl gasped and looked up at the two boys.
"You-you're the ones who killed them?" She asked shakily.
"I've heard of them," Red said lowly. "The Leaders... Protectors of their cities." Blue stepped forward.
"Forgive us... We didn't mean to hurt your sisters..." The girl backed away with fear clearly shown in her eyes.
"I suppose our mission was to destroy this city and each and every protector. We'll have to kill her as well." Red pulled out a pokéball, but Blue jolted.
"Red!"
"It's her or us, Blue."
"She's even younger than us!" Red lowered his capsule.
"You'd defy our guardian for her?"
"Any man who'd request this of us is no guardian of mine," he stated boldly. Red stared for a moment, then laughed harshly.
"Heh, I thought you might say that."
"So you're with me?" He asked hopefully. The black haired teen nodded.
"I owe the professor much, but not so much that I'd soil the name of Trainers in his.
"Us walking away from the professor means nothing if we remain alone. We must travel to all the cities; all of the regions. We must treat with other Trainers." His red eyes zeroed in on Blue's bright irises. "And Yellow.... She must share our fight." Blue nodded.
"And she will. Thank you." Red turned away.
"I'm not doing this for you."
"Huh?" Flames continued to lick at the buildings. At this point though, there was no more screaming, but corpses littered the streets.
"Quick, what of the girl?" Both looked quickly at the younger red head.
"We take her with us."
Blue stepped closer to the crying girl and reached out with a hand. "Hurry, come with us. It's not safe here." She jumped back.
"No!"
"We don't have time for this!" Red snapped. "Use force if you must!" The girl took off running, and Blue and Red followed.
"Leave me alone!" She shouted, her voice thick with tears, taking out a pokéball. And she screamed as the capsule opened.
"I HATE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
A Mega Blastoise erupted from the ball, and used Hydro Pump. Then Blizzard. And then earthquake.
It all happened so fast. Blue was only aware of the water quickly freezing around him and the tremors beneath his feet. The water surged over his head and the earth split apart under him. Red ran to him, but was thrown away from the earthquake's jolt.
"No...."
It was snowing heavily. The icy water began to recede. But there was no sign of Blue, or the girl, as a matter of fact.
Both of them were just gone.
Only Red returned to Pallet Town, and he told everyone that Blue had been killed. Distraught, Yellow refused to believe it, and left alone on her own quest to find Blue.
~*~*~
She'd spent weeks searching for him. Her search had brought her all the way to the far reaches of Johto. Her legs were shaking, and her vision swam.
Exhausted, Yellow finally collapsed near the summit of Mt. Silver, where her search had brought her. Her Pokemon, Dody, Chu-Chu, and Ratty, all tried to get her up, but they couldn't. The girl would be killed if she didn't become warmer soon... They nudged her and pulled at her clothes, but she wouldn't move.
As she lay there, it finally crossed her mind that maybe Red was right. Maybe Blue was dead. All of the hope that she'd been clinging to preciously these past weeks disintegrated and she realized how alone she really was.
....
I'll never see him again. I will never see those shining blue eyes looking at me like I'm his entire world ever again. I'll never be able to be surrounded in his warm embrace. There will be no more joyful flights through the sky on his pidgeotto; with the wind rushing through our hair.
There will be no more warm kisses. There'll be nobody to run to when I'm upset. Red will be there, and I know he feels something for me. But he's not Blue. He isn't, nor will he ever, be Blue. Blue is the one I love.
I have nothing without Blue and my Pokémon. I would trade every last one of my powers to be able to have Blue with me again. However, I can't; there's no way I can do that. There's only one way to be with Blue now.
With that thought, the young blond looked at her three Pokemon sadly. "Go home and take care of each other. It's ok. I'll be fine," she mumbled weakly. They squeaked and squealed in protest. A faint smile came on her face. "Really guys, it's ok now. Really, I'll be fine." Reluctantly, they turned away and began walking down the snowy mountain. Only Chu-Chu looked back, and her brown eyes developed tears because she knew their master wasn't coming down with them. Yellow smiled gently. "I love you guys. Go on- be happy." The pikachu only nodded her head heavily and scurried after the others.
Yellow then laid her head against the snow and closed her golden eyes for the last time.
Goodbye, world.
Someday, let's meet again, Blue.

Alright, this wasn't completely FFIV. But there are so many tragedies in that game. The girl and the earthquake actually did come from the game, but the main character doesn't die during the earthquake. However, I've cut parts and modified them to make sense and to fit the qualities of a one-shot.
Here we are, Pokemon_Random . Here's my entry for Round 2. Best of luck everyone!
