The Truth From The Heart

I don't know if this is a sad or happy oneshot. I actually got this idea when I saw a girl in my school got bullied. She can't talk or speak, and she's teased by the bullies for it. Of course I did stopped them, but I'm not sure if she'll feel happy or optimistic in her life anymore. Oh, and guess what, she almost f*cking committed suicide because of this. You're happy now, bullies?

So I decided to write this oneshot, especially dedicated to her. So if "you" are reading this, I just want to tell you not to be ashame or sad about it. You still have some "real" friends who are always beside you. You can't talk, but that's okay, at least you still have a heart to speak out the words for you.

She had lots of problems in her life. Stress, family difficulties, school, bullies,... But she couldn't say anything about it, or even shout out her feeling to let them out

Why? Because... she couldn't talk.

Meet Serena Yvonne, 15 years old. Her life was a completely misery. She could see and walk, but talking was an impossible thing for her to do. She knew body language, which helped her in her life, but could anyone understand them? Oh, let's ask further. Could anyone feel what she was feeling deep inside and be sorry for her?

Life wasn't as beautiful as it was in the fanfics. The unfairness always appeared everywhere. But could people understand? The answer is no.

However, if you were complaining about how your life was pathetic, then I'd suggest you to open your heart and feel for this girl. Let's do a little comparison, your life and her life, which is more pathetic, which is sadder, which is more painful.

She didn't have any friend, well, except this guy. His name was Ash Ketchum. He knew about her disorder what she had suffered because of that. He became her best friend and promised to do what is best for her.

He gave her a small notebook for her birthday. He told her to write anything she wanted to say and showed it to him. She brought it everywhere, as something for communication

However, even with Ash by her side, she still not know how to smile

One time, a substitute teacher walked in for the absent one. She started checking the attendances.

"Serena Yvonne... I say Serena Yvonne... Is Miss. Yvonne here?" The teacher asked. As usual, Ash stood up and answered for Serena, but the teacher didn't care

"What kind of position are you to speak for her? I want to see the real Yvonne!" She scolded Ash and called Serena once again. Serena then stood up and raised her hand, but the teacher signaled her to come. When Serena stood in front of her, she started scolding

"So, you don't have any mouth to speak, huh?" She asked. That question was like thousands of knives stabbing Serena's heart. She felt insulted, but she couldn't do anything. She just shook her head, but the teacher saw it as a sign of disrespect

"You dare disrespecting me? Was that what your parents teach you?" She asked. All Serena could do was bowed her head. Some little sounds of sniff could be heard from her.

"What? Now you're crying? For disrespecting me, young lady?" The teacher asked, and Serena couldn't hold her tears any longer. Ash saw this, so he ran to the teacher and whispered something to her. She widened her eyes and started regretting

"Serena... I'm sorry. I didn't know that. You may go back to your seat" She said softly, but that didn't help. Serena went back to her seat, but as soon as she sat down, she burried her face in the table. Some small wimpy sounds could be heard. Then she felt a slight tap on her shoulder

"Serena, you're alright?" Ash asked. She took out the notebook Ash gave her and wrote something on it, then she gave it to Ash. There was a word "yes" on the page, but it was a little unclear, like there was written because of a shaky hand. Ash didn't accpet this as a truth, so he decided to meet her in lunch time

Lunch time soon came as Ash was looking for his best friend. She was still at her old place to eat, but she had a sad expression on her face. Ash noticed that so he approached her

Meanwhile, Serena was thinking about the word from the teacher

"You don't have any mouth to speak...?"

"Your parents didn't teach you well..."

She was in some deep thought, then she thought further, about the bullies. They always bullied her, at least until Ash came. Since the day Ash decided to be by her side, she wasn't bullied anymore, but their words still printed in her brain

"Speechless mutant..."

"Monster with no mouth..."

"Tongue-less girl..."

"Miss. Can't-speak..."

They were the nicknames she was given. Of course she didn't like those, but she had to accepted it, or she would face the consequences. As she was thinking, Ash sat in front of her and talked

"Serena, the truth. Are you alright?" Ash asked. Serena seemed hesitated, then she took out her notebook and wrote something

"Can I ask you something?"

Ash nodded, then Serena wrote something

"Do you think I'm a speechless mutant?"

Ash was shocked from this. "Of course not, I don't-" He was about to say something, but he received another page

"Do you think I'm a tongue-less girl?"

At this point she was about to cry, with some sniffles from her. Ash was stunned, he didn't know what to say. Before he could speak out, he received another one

"Do you think I'm a monster with no mouth?"

After that, she started sobbing. Ash could feel the pain came from the girl. He stood up and walked to her. She was about to write something, but Ash stopped it. He put her pen away and hugged her. She started sobbing on his shoulders, letting her pain out

"Shh... it's okay, Serena... just let them out..." Ash said and patted her back. Soon her sob slowly faded away, and she looked at him, but with watery eyes. Ash then wiped her tears away

"You don't have to be sad about it. Those who told you that are heartless. But you're not. You may not be able to speak, but you still have something to do the job. Your heart. It will speak out what you think, you want to say, and all those words are the most beautiful. So don't be sad about it, just be yourself"

That was what he said. Serena looked at him and let out a small smile. It was the smile that he hadn't seem for a long time. For Serena, she felt happier, because she had something to lighten up her life, to lead her out of the darkness she had to suffer. She didn't care about all the words talked about her, because they were just like a wind. The just passed through her, and went back to the air, just like her pain, as long as she knew how to get over it
