Chapter 55: Mt.Silver*
The snow was brutal were we stood. I had decided to go back to the Pokémon league to enter the mountain many come to to train their Pokémon. No one cannot enter this place without an acceptance letter, and I finally got to use mine.
"I got everything done at this point... It's time to get this over with and go find him"
"Are you sure he's here?" Aaron asked me from the front gate, shivering in the middle of the blizzard as I stared up at the mountain "I mean, I'm not here all day, so I don't even know if the guy left or not"
"Does he come here often?"
"You can say that. He comes by in the mornings when my shift starts, but not every morning. He leaves every other week, from what I heard. I don't even know what that guy thinks when he comes here. He doesn't talk and have that blank look on his face" I gulped, not sure if I'm ready to face him.
I came this far just to prove myself... I got stronger to show off, I grew up better because he freed me. I couldn't ask for anything more. Never a day did I stop forgetting him. As much as I would hate to know he may not remember me, I still want to give my gratitude.
"It's now or never!" I huffed "His friends said he should be here, so I have to go!"
"Are you obsessed about him or something?" Probably "Better hope you find him in the cave! You can't see anything out here!" Aaron covered his face with his jacket "You better be careful out there! Always make sure your locator is running and send signals to us!"
"I will!" I saluted to him "I'll be back within two weeks!" I had to sign a contract of stating how long I'll be in the mountain. If I don't return by the day I gave of when I'll return, they're going to search for me if something happens to my body, or most likely look for me with my locator I was given. There are a lot of wild and strong Pokémon out there that can kill me, so I'll have to be careful... not that I'm really worried about it.
"You got everything?!" I walked forward into the blizzard.
"I got enough supplies to last me more than two weeks! Don't worry!" I waved as I continued forward "I'll be fine!" In only a few steps forward, I couldn't see Aaron at all. The storm was very thick and hard to get through. I really do hope I end up finding him in the mountain and not outside. Who in the right mind would train outside?
"Pe!" Pichu shouted at me through the harsh winds.
"Pichu! Get back in the bag! I told you to get in your ball, but you wouldn't listen!" The road was hard and heavy, and I ended up falling a few times, but we eventually made it into the mountain where it was dead silent and a bit dark and wide.
"We're here..." I took a deep breath, struggling a bit "the air is so thick here. How do people handle this?" I looked at Pichu looking around, leaning on the egg in my bag "We have two weeks to get through this mountain. Hopefully it doesn't take that long to get through and find Red" I sighed and sent out Zorua "When we're not training, we should use an illusion to keep wild Pokémon from seeing us" Zorua barked, happy to help and followed me through the mountain with many loopholes and corners that lead to nowhere. Anyone would get lost here, and it's no wonder I had this thing on my wrist.
"A location founder will help others track my location if I don't show up before the deadline. It's a bit scary to think that people have died here" I sat down after a long while of walking in probably circles, being protected by Zorua's illusion so no wild Pokémon can mess with us again "These Pokémon are crazy strong... even if I trust my own to protect me, it's best to save as much supplies as possible" I curled up to my knees and checked my Pokégear "There's no signal out here... It's kinda scary" the locator vibrated to make me click the button to signal that I'm still alive "This little thing is the only way someone would know where I am if something happens to me" I hugged my legs "Why couldn't I just be patient and talk to Blue or something? He would know when Red is back" I sighed "but I know Blue wouldn't take me seriously. There's no point" I looked at my Pokémon snuggling close since it's gotten late already "It's time for sleep... there's no telling what time it is in this place, but thank Arceus for clocks" I took out a sleeping bag I had on me and opened it to sleep in "Let's continue our trip tomorrow. Time for sleep..."
Sleepless nights piled onto each other. I relied on coffee to keep me awake and became very jumpy when hearing the smallest sound. I would eat thanks to my Pokémon reminding me to do so, but the coffee made me anxious about not being able to find Red before my deadline. I don't know his deadline in this place, so what if he left and I've been here for nothing!?
"This sucks" I whined, placing my oxygen mask to help me breath better. The more days I end up in this mountain, the more harder it gets to breath the higher I go up. My Pokémon didn't struggle as much as I did, which was good. I had Meganium stand with me so her flower can provide some oxygen for me, but it wasn't enough without the oxygen tank I had.
"How do people do this?" I sat on the floor, exhausted "It's almost been a week... Where am I even going?" I turned to Pichu looking around like she's always been "You still can't feel anything, huh?" She shook her head, only ended up finding random trainers around who wouldn't leave me alone unless I battled them. They were really annoying, but I managed to get through and even asked questions about Red.
"A lot of people pointed him out and knew of him, stating how strong he and his team were. He really is famous" I smiled and took out the legendary egg from my bag "this place is the worse place to keep you around, but I can't have anyone else touch you. I took the job in holding you" I hugged the egg close, putting my ear on the shell to listen inside "You are the guardian of the distortion world, the world I seen before that's reversed from ours. I can only find so much information on you, but that's okay" I sighed, feeling sleepy all of a sudden. I could hardly hear my Pokémon yelling at me "I'll raise you from this egg until it's time for you to take on your role in this universe..." my eyes were getting sleepy. I felt relaxed "I can't wait to meet... you..." I fell into an unknown slumber.
My surroundings consisted of a white background with snow covering the space around me. The wind wasn't blowing my hair or my body away. The most I could see was someone standing up ahead in a red hat, staring the other way. His back was turned towards me, but I knew exactly who that was.
"Red..." I reached out to him, only to end up falling down into a black pit of nothingness. Nothing was around but me in the silent void "Hello..?" I looked around, worried about what I'm experiencing "Is this another dream..?" I looked forward and saw a yellow ball of light appear before me "You..." the light flashed and appeared as a part of the darkness with piercing red eyes. Something in me knew I should be afraid of this, but I wasn't.
This Pokémon before was mistreated and misunderstood, later banished to the distortion world by Arceus. I hope someday I can train it to become the entity of this world and fulfill its purpose like what it was meant to do.
"Abandoned and mistreated, misunderstood. I feel like something about you can relate to myself, but because of my given luck, I felt mistreated and misunderstood. I hope you can hatch soon so I could raise you" the dark figure blink and disappeared, dropping me into a field of flowers. I picked up a flower and looked around, wondering why I was here now.
"What's with this dream..?" I looked up at the starry sky, admiring all the stars around me "Beautiful..."
"Mother...."
"Mother!"
"Mum!" I heard at least 40 or more different voices calling out to me.
"We will protect you..."
"I'm sorry I couldn't provide you more wishes..."
"Victory will be among you" They went on and on, speaking their apologies and gratitude all at once. I smiled and stood up to dance in the middle of the field of flowers, giving my own gratitude and apologies for not realizing things before. This luck wasn't just mere coincidence... They really were blessings from the Pokémon my ancestor took care of.
"Why me in particular..?" I asked myself, spinning around "No, not just me. The Zoe family go through crazy situations, but you'd always take care of them. Why does it feel like I have all the blessings? Or does it just seem that way because I had more to do" I smiled, dancing around many white silhouettes of Pokémon flying around me "Either way, I'm thankful. I just need one more thing to do before I can settle down..."
I opened my eyes to see my Pokémon freaking out over me. I pet Meganium's face to calm her down and pat Pichu's head that was on my chest, crying.
"There there... I'm alright" I looked at my locator vibrating, wanting me to click the button. I quickly did before I was seen as dead or something "That wouldn't have been good" I looked at everyone around me "Sorry everyone... I just fell asleep" I looked at the time on my Pokégear "I've been given these blessings. I need to use them to find him as soon as possible" I put my hands together "maybe if I pray... I can get to where I need to be"
I wouldn't count on the legendary and mythical Pokémon listening to my prayers, but I had to at least try. That time back in the Ilex Forest was sort of me acting like I was praying to get help, and got help.
"Children..." I don't know why I said that. It just spilled out my mouth "Take us to where I'm searching for... The spot where he may be. It's crucial that I find him as soon as possible. The air is tight here, and I can't handle it" I opened my eyes and jumped when I found myself in a new place with an exit of the cave covered by a white blizzard "Did it work?" Pichu scurried to look out the exit, seeing something I can't see "See anything, Pichu?" She pointed up ahead with bright eyes. That's a good sign "Okay everyone, return" Pichu refused to get back in her ball "I need all my strength to protect the egg. I don't want you getting sick in that blizzard! I don't even know how long I have to be out there!" She ran off. I quickly scooped her up and placed her in my bag "Stubborn" she smiled, knowing what she was doing. I sighed and tried taking a deep breath, having a hard time breathing again.
"We must be higher than before. The air is so thick here... and that blizzard won't make it better" I used my oxygen mask to receive a bit more to help me forward and finally walk into the blizzard that kept making me fall about a dozen times.
"Stop..." an echo went through my head. I stopped and looked around, seeing the blizzard calming down a bit and I was very close to the edge of the mountain. I could've fell to my death if I wasn't warned.
"That would had been bad" I looked at Pichu and my egg "I would had been in trouble..." I looked around, seeing the blizzard calm down, but it was still hard to see around. In the distance, I saw a person a few meters away in red. A familiar yellow Pokémon was on his shoulder.
"That's..." I gasped, hoping who I saw was who I thought is was. It wasn't very easy to tell, but something in me just knew "Re-" I cupped my mouth when the blizzard blew into my mouth "I can't raise my voice... it would be dangerous to approach him" the person up ahead slowly turned to look at me. I gulped and kept my feet on the ground.
Instead of trying to see who was in front of him, he kept his hat over his eyes and sent out a majestic Articuno! Is this a fight?!
"H-Huh..?" I was taken back. He wanted to battle me? "Hey, don't you know that it's-" I bit my lips, not expecting him to remember me. If it's a fight he wants, I'll have no problem if it means he can calm down and know that I'm not a threat in the middle of this storm. When in this mountain, it's best to be on high alert more than anything.
"Clefable!" I threw out her ball out for a battle. She was ready like any other battle and fought against a sub-legendary Pokémon, struggling to at least get an attack "Sing!" Sina was not effective in the middle of a loud storm "Dammit!" Our opponent returned his Articuno "Already?" He send out his Blastoise. I groaned at myself "this is going to take longer than I thought..."
My Pokémon struggled to take on the different types of Pokémon our opponent had. I dared to use everyone in party, even pass the 6 mark just to get somewhere, but not one of his Pokémon had fainted.
"Why am I doing this..?" I fell on my knees, staring at Zorua, now evolved into Zoroark, in her ball after she fainted after fighting the Charizard watching us "He's far too strong... I trained this hard only to fail so miserably?" I would've felt fine if I knocked out one of his Pokémon, but that was impossible. I'm nowhere near his level. Even if I was close, he returned the Pokémon to switch out a healthy one.
"I have only one Pokémon left..." I looked at Pichu beside me, frowning "Even pass 6 Pokémon, we are no match. I'm sorry Pichu, I don't want you battling" Pichu frowned over at the opponent returning his Pokémon and sending out a Pokémon I never seen before. My eyes widened at its silhouette, bringing back memories of when I seen this Pokémon in the newspaper captured by the current champion and legend of Kanto. I cupped my mouth and crawled back, knowing there was no way I can win.
"I failed..." I bit my lips, stopping my tears "I wanted to at least show him I got stronger, but that's impossible" he couldn't even see me pass the blizzard. Why have I been wasting my time? Why couldn't I just wait for him with our friends like a normal person? I came into a dangerous mountain that is far from what I can handle. I need to leave...
"I shouldn't have came here..." right when I was about to get back on my feet and make a run for it, something shook in my bag "Huh..?" The egg inside instantly started glowing "It's glowing?" There was no warnings that it was going to hatch so soon! Eggs are suppose to be moving in the egg, and this one hasn't, nor was it very warm. I underestimated a legendary's egg... "It's hatching..." the egg slowly formed into a large being of darkness, the same terrifying one that I saw in my dreams, only this time it had a form with yellow patterns.
It's dark ominous wings spread wide, sending out vibes I recognized whenever I see someone I hated in Team Rocket. It was releasing a murderous energy I undoubtedly knew where it was aiming for. Not wanting anything to happen to anyone, I shut my eyes and shouted above my lungs.
"STOP!" The blizzard around us stopped like we were frozen in time. I stood up and looked around confused, guessing a legendary heard my cry. I look forward to where Red would've been, and found him and his Pokémon gone.
