Chapter 5: Birthday•

No matter how many times I've tried leaving the girls who I served before, they kept bringing me over to the dance floor to dance with them when there were other sweaty drunk bodies that was getting on my last nerve.

The girls were genuine and very friendly. Even if I had a job to entertain the crowd, I really didn't want to be around the girls when they're having so much fun and I was being a burden.

"Come on, V! Dance with us!" Misty, the most drunk out of the girl group, cheered "You're a dancer, aren't you?" I shook my head and dodged every moment I can get until I was finally away from the tight space in the dance floor with idiots passing out on the floor and over onto tables, accidentally making everything fall.

"These people are nuts..." I sweat dropped.

"What do you expect?" Sabrina said, drinking her 10th margarita without looking the least bit wasted "Everyone in here are trainers. All they ever do is train to be the best and compete in battles. They drive to be the best and hardly have fun themselves, unless it's for a special occasion" she ate some leftover pieces from the trays I brought in "Being a trainer can suck the life out of you if you take it too seriously, which is why these people are acting like children because they never get the chance to live"

"Not everyone seems to be that way"

"Not everyone in this building is an idiot. Many know how to limit themselves. That's why the idiots are the famous trainers Blue knows, who competes in battle tournaments" Blue, that's the host that's been picking on me to show him what other talents I possess. The more I listen to him, the more I noticed that he came into the building drunk as hell.

"I'm sure Pokémon gyms have a strategy to how much they have to train" I said. Sabrina nodded.

"Exactly" she stood up and took my shoulder before walking off to the bar "A lot of people here are really enjoying your company"

"I'm not sure what you mean. You've mistaken yourself" I sighed as she walked off completely and looked at the place starting to slow down a bit. It was getting late and I have yet to notice the birthday boy anywhere.

"This whole party is for him, yet I've hardly seen him. Was he the one with the Pikachu?" Someone held my hand. I looked over at Erica, all red face, frowning at me weakly.

"I feel funny..." She said, almost sounding like she was about to cry. I didn't know what she meant and took the glass she was holding shakily, noticing some fizz on the top of the water.

"Did you remove your eyes from your drink to talk to someone?" She looked down to think, then nodded "Good thing you came to me. I don't think there's anyone responsible to help you right now" I looked around to see if I was correct, and I was. Although I saw Sabrina just fine, I don't trust a woman who says scary things that involved my future, as well as drink 10 margaritas without acting different.

"How are you feeling?" I had her sit down and felt her head.

"I'm dizzy..." I checked the glass again.

"Dear, this isn't water. Did you pick up the wrong cup?" She started sobbing, looking scared "Don't worry, I won't let anything happen to you" she nodded and held my hand more firm. I couldn't reach the wall phone like this.

"Aaron!" I shouted, making the surrounding people around us jump at my loud call that I'm sure the whole club could hear even with the loud music.

Aaron panicked, almost dropping the dirty dishes on his tray, and came over after setting it down "What's with you? Stop yelling all the damn time. People are trying to enjoy themselves" I pointed at Erica "What's wrong?"

"Call an ambulance. Her drink was spiked and she should go to the emergency room" he quickly nodded and rushed off to make the call. Erica started crying more and hugged my waist.

"What's going on? Is something bad going to happen..?" I kneeled down and moved her hair from her forehead.

"Don't worry now, you're in safe hands. I know you only came here to celebrate a birthday, but you need to be more careful with your beverages anywhere. Men are disgusting creatures and will do anything to take advantage of you" I pet her head "I'm glad you came to me for help. You're going to be fine now" she sobbed more and hugged me suddenly. I was a bit surprised and just stood there, not returning the hug.

"T-Thank you..!" I smiled and nodded. I stayed by her side until a few paramedics came in all cautious with a gurney. I stood up to face them being escorted by a bouncer.

"Please take this young woman. She's been drugged and had already passed out. You know the rest" a few of her friends noticed what happened and raced over as she was being carried away.

"Erica!" A flower girl exclaimed "What happened?!"

"How about you ask the host of this party?" I looked over at him staring with a horrid look on his face after what he saw "I haven't seen him all night and not once had I noticed him check on his own guest"

"Y-You're putting the blame on me?" I walked up to him to stand close to his face.

"Who else am I going to blame? After all, this is a private party and someone here spiked her drink. Poor thing. She'll probably never trust another man again. What a party you've made" I huffed and walked away to my post. Aaron glanced over at me sitting on the table next to the sink, minding my own business.

Ronan quickly came into the room to talk to Blue about what happened. I looked away to avoid being part of this "Bartender!" He yelled out to me. I huffed and ignored him, so Aaron took my place and explained what happen. This happened at the same time the boy in the red hat walked over to listen on what happened and glance over at me.

"Where was he the entire night?" I groaned to myself "Why have a party if you're not going to be part of it? What a waste of time"

Ronan bowed to the girls and Blue and walked back to talk to me "Valerie" he spoke

"I'm surprise you even said my name. It's been awhile" I huffed, annoyed "What is it? Gonna scold me again?"

"You did a good thing there before. I just wish you were more open to the people who were worried. They're fine now" I sighed.

"That's good" he thought to himself and went over to Blue to talk to him after speaking to Red all upset like. The girls hurried over towards me.

"Thank you so much for taking care of her, V!" Misty frowned "We should had been with her like we promised when we convinced her to come here with us!"

"No need to blame yourself. You were having fun. I'm glad she came to me when she couldn't get any of you. All that matters is that she's safe" everyone nodded.

"Still... We better go to the hospital and check on her. She's our boss and friend, after all" the flower girls left soon after saying so. The rest of the girls looked uneasy and unsettled. It wasn't good to have them worry even after everything was resolved, but what can I do to make it better?

Someone in red walked through the girls to sit on the bar seat in front of where I was standing.

"Red!" Misty gasped "Where have you been?! Blue has been looking everywhere for you!" She glared.

"In the bathroom" he stated plainly. So I was right. He was hiding.

"You were hiding?" Janine asked. Blue soon returned to hit Red on the side of his head. He'll probably needed a drink...

"Dammit Red! If you weren't hiding this whole time, things wouldn't have turned out this way!" Red rubbed his head and said nothing "The vibe is all ruined" Blue looked at everyone starting to slow down and getting tired "I just wanted you to have fun for once and instead, this happens"

"Exactly what I meant by those trainers who act like children due to battling and training so much" Sabrina said, next to Red "Even the quietest ones are too stubborn to do anything for his own good"

The atmosphere completely changed around me. Just earlier, the girls were having fun eating and dancing and they got struck with their friend suddenly needing to go to the emergency room. Blue was too worried about looking for Red, and Red didn't even want to be here.

"Here" I handed the boys some drinks "I'm sure what happened just now was sudden and not planned, but you have this moment to enjoy yourself a little longer. Don't look back on your time as something negative. Getting to have fun is a blessing" Sabrina watched me from the side of her eye "Erica is fine. You all have fun and try not throwing up on the dance floor"

Everyone looked at each other and requested a drink. I gladly handed glasses with drinks over and watched the girls leave to dance again. Blue grabbed Red's shirt and pulled him into the dance floor towards the stairs where the dancers were waiting for them.

I got chills when feeling Ronan standing beside me all of a sudden "Those are some big words for someone who hates being around anything that breaths"

"What do you possibly know about what I hate? I know I hate you, but anything else? You wouldn't know" He snorted and looked at the stage where Kathy brought Red to a chair in the middle of the stage and started yelling out something I wasn't paying attention to.

"Take care of him" Sabrina suddenly said before leaving the building without looking back at me. I furrowed my brows confused and wanted to go after her to see what she meant, but I was held back by my boss. Knowing the atmosphere was pretty down before, I had the feeling I knew what he wanted.

"Go get dressed, it seems like the birthday boy isn't interested in his own party. You know what to do" I looked at the girls throwing themselves at him while the crowd cheered. I sighed and went to the dressing room to change into my dancing dress.

The red color gently fell towards my ankles and both sides of my legs were exposed, leaving little to the imagination. My top was cropped and had no straps but the sleeves on my arms exposed my bare shoulders and everything.

The dress was something I loved being in. It had a free feel to it and I'd always dance around my old home enjoying it. Before I was given the dress, I'd take it from my grandma's closet and sneak to my room to dance like a fairy. Precious memories are turned into a disgusting game of pleasure for other men to see how my body moves.

Approaching the back door of the stage was the highlight of my night, aside from meeting the girls. I witnessed Red trying to escape his seat while his friends were laughing at him and holding him down. Some friends they are. It's surprising to see a man not wanting to be near a beautiful girl, but I do know not all men are the same.

I approached them and moved them off, catching them off guard when I decided to sit on Red's lap sideways and lifted my leg to point at the boys who were holding him down, including Blue.

"You can go now. It's my turn to make a scene" the boys slowly got off the stage as I looked at Red and wrapped my arms around his neck "What is it? You don't like beautiful women touching you?" His face was already red to begin with, and looked even more embarrassed when I got on him.

"I-It's not that..." he choked nervously. I giggled and lifted his chin.

"This is your party. If you want to leave, I can help you" I winked "If not, I'll have to dance for you. Either is fine by me" my finger came up to flick his bottom lip gently, making his face even more red.

I curiously looked over at the bar table where I handed him his drink. It was empty and still there "Can't hold down your liquor?" He looked like he got a little mad at that. I just smiled and stood up as soon as the music started playing.

Unlike the music that was playing the entire night, the music I dance to was more relaxing with a slight beat to it, in which was good enough to still be appropriate for a club to play.

I spun multiple times and pointed my toes to stand high with my hand gently reaching out to Red staring directly at my eyes, not at all noticing my limbs exposed for his eyes to gaze on. He was most focused on the message every move demonstrated possessed and looked as he forgot people were around us. It was like we were the only two people in this room.

Even if I forcefully added sexualized moves to the dance I was forced to put into and even sat on him with my legs wide open with him in between, his hands gently felt on the skin on my back and his eyes never left mine.

Adding more moves I hated adding, I went on my knees and slowly reached towards him from his feet to his head, standing very close to him. He flinched and turned away a bit when I did that. I took his chin and forced him to look at me. When he did, I almost choked when he looked at me with the eyes of someone who wanted me to stop.

I didn't function as I expected myself to. He kept his eyes on me the entire time I danced around him with grace and didn't mind when I was on him, but as soon as I turned the dance into something the other dancers would do, he didn't like it.

I didn't finish the dance like I always did, but people still clapped and cheered for me and Red. I kept my eyes on him looking into my eyes, watching me with the eyes of someone who didn't like seeing me this way. I've seen this all too much from the others who's been trying to care for me after all these years. My hair had fallen to cover my face, hiding the tears I couldn't control.

"Stop looking at me like that..." my fist were shaking. He stood up to face me. I walked backwards and wanted to leave, but was taken by Ronan into his shoulders and thanked everyone for joining us. I could still feel Red watching me with those eyes... I hate it... I hate it...

I remained in the dressing room for the rest of the time until everyone was asked to leave for the night. I did nothing but stare at my reflection, looking at the makeup that ran after I cried again when leaving the stage.

"Things are getting worse..." I pulled my hair "Even when I danced... Even when I forced a smile that was convincing to all... I still got that look I hate so much..." I gasped, almost sobbing "I can't handle this anymore... Not even my own dance can save me now. I'm a mess" someone walked into the dressing room. Lilly walked up to the mirror and leaned on my shoulder to give me a thick envelope that carries cash.

"Here you go, dear. You deserve every dollar" I wiped my tears away.

"I don't want your money" she pet my head.

"I didn't earn this" I looked at her gently smiling at me "You made those girls comfortable while being here. They were grateful for your time and energy and wanted to give you this" I slowly took the envelope and took out what's inside, counting with a frustrating twitch in my eye "The best tips your received in a long time. Congratulations" I lowered the money. It's almost enough to help me get halfway to my goal, but I was shocked either way.

Those girls gave me this much after just spending time with them and serving them..? I was only doing my job, but knowing they didn't want to be there, they seem to be grateful enough to give this to me as their appreciation.

"Thanks..." I grabbed a wet wipe, finally, and removed my makeup from my face "Is everyone gone?" She didn't say anything, confusing me. I stood up and faced her, about to speak before Ronan came into the door, giving me the sign that he wanted me to...
