Chapter 48: Sabrina•

"Sabrina?" Sabrina helped me back on my feet and continued holding my hand to guide me around the building to take me to a cafe with many food options.

"You look famished. Let's eat" well... I am pretty hungry... I had only snacked on the little snacks I brought from the reception area and didn't get the chance to have a full meal since I've been walking through Victory road.

We sat down and all Sabrina did was look at her menu she picked up from a wall basket. I took one as well, but was more interested in why she was here.

"Instead of looking at me, why don't you order something?" She said without looking at me. Soon after she said that, a waiter came over to take our drinks and we ordered whatever sounded good. He left and I looked at Sabrina waving her finger around while Pichu was trying to play with it.

"I didn't expect to see you again" I finally said. She used her powers to levitate Pichu off the table and leaned on her elbows to look at me.

"Are you not happy to see me?" I waved my hands.

"I-I can't say that! You've helped me so much that I'm a bit surprised to see you in person! I'm so use to talking through your helpful messages" I bowed my head "I thanked you a lot through the Pokégear, but I'm glad I can get the chance to thank you in person!" Sabrina chuckled, making me look up at the slight smile she finally gave.

"No need to thank me. I only thought it was necessary for the future" I nodded "if I didn't help you, you would had gone through a path that would make things more complicated. I don't want to keep having headaches when something goes wrong and I have to message you to do things right"

"Is that what I am!? A headache?!" I cried out "You're so cruel! After all this time of thinking fondly of you, you treat me this way!?" I placed the back of my hand on my forehead and turned away dramatically "I'm hurt!" I peaked at Sabrina snorting in laughter, trying her best to hide it behind her hand.

"My... Since when you became so funny?" She continued to try to hide her laugh. I smiled and watched her calm herself down. Once she did, she looked back at me and looked a bit surprised.

"Hm? What is it?" I asked.

"Nothing... It's just that" she cleared her throat "Your smile is lovely" I flinched at the unexpected comment.

"Oh!" I smiled bigger "Thank you!" She smiled a bit more. Our drinks had arrived and she got herself a fruity alcoholic drink while I just ordered ice cold water.

"You've changed a lot since I last saw you" she sipped her drink while her hand supported her chin "Before, you were a broken little girl who wanted nobody's help. I had helped you come along way, but I never really got to see how you grew up on your own and make your own decisions. I kept you out of danger and I gave you the best advice I could. I've even see your anger get the best of you... but I never got to see how lovely you became" I blushed, a bit embarrassed.

"In my defense, there was not much I could really do about that. I can only see the future has to hold. I can't see how you became, but I've seen the outcomes of what your anger would lead you if you didn't stop on time" she played with her drink. I looked down "If you never thought to look up at your Pokémon, you would had definitely killed that man" she closed her eyes "But it wouldn't have been counted against you in the court of law because they were criminals and they can't report anything to the police without them getting in trouble to. You would had still been in bed today, and Team Rocket would had won"

"I-I see..." the guilt I had felt before started building up again, and shaking it off wasn't as easy as forgetting that strange dream from the other night.

"Don't beat yourself up for it. Those people had killed much more for the sake of power. I know what you're feeling, but remember that it didn't happen. You're fine" I nodded.

"Okay" I said. Our food had finally arrived and there was no time to waste. I ate like no tomorrow with my Pokémon while Sabrina ate like a princess. I calmed down when spotting her watching me with one eye open, and slowed down my pace.

"Careful, you'll get a stomachache if you eat too fast. Wouldn't want that before a battle"

"R-Right..." I watched her finishing her drink and asking for another one "So why did you come here? Did you come to see me off?"

"Actually, even though I knew you'd be here, I wanted to tell you in person that I can't help you from now on" I set my fork down "I've helped you through this journey through out most of it, but even if it seems that you're almost finished, you're not even close"

"Huh..?" She got her drink and started drinking it before answering "I'm not?"

"You did this journey for the sake of becoming a better person and becoming someone that was worth saving, right?" I blushed immediately "Most of this was all for Red, right?"

"Y-You should know the answer to that" I pouted. She just smiled, enjoying her drink "It was mainly to help myself find the path that best suited me. If I can become someone that I can say I'm proud of becoming, I can show him all the things he did for me. I want to repay him... and pay him back" she nodded.

"He's still in Mount Silver" she glanced away "He had returned home in the middle of your journey and constantly kept coming to my gym, asking me the same thing over and over" she rolled her eyes "Do I see anything? That's it. He wasn't specific, so I only gave a smart response he most likely didn't get"

"What?" She nodded.

"That's exactly what I said. Unfortunately I can't choose what I see. Even if he did ask me a specific question, I wouldn't be able to answer him. He asked me the same thing every time, but it had seemed like he was looking for something" I bit my lips "He doesn't talk much, so I'm sure that's why he didn't bother saying what he really wanted to say"

"I see" I sighed "Well, I'll be searching for him soon after I beat the league"

"Are you that confident he'll recognize you?" That's not the question I expected her to ask when I mention beating the league.

"I don't expect him to" she held her chin "I just want to thank him and pay him back"

"I see..." we finished eating and got up from our table "Listen, even if I or Morty can't help you up to this point in your life, you'll be fine from here" She didn't look at me "We did all we could to help you in that path through Johto, but there's a path you're going to have to walk on your own. It's a rather strange path I can't really explain"

"So you've seen that path?" She nodded "Explain as much as you can" she thought of it for a moment.

"I'll say... It involves an egg" an egg? "That's all I can really say. There's a lot of darkness to it. Nothing really worth saying" I nodded and took her hand, making her look back at me confuse and look at my smile.

"Thank you so much for everything, Sabrina" I hugged her "I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for you" she smiled and patted my back.

"Even if that was partly true, I'll have to deny that" I looked at her confused "You wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Red" I smiled again "Take care of yourself out there, Valerie" she pet my head "You deserve every type of happiness out there. Don't let things overcome your decision to make yourself have a better future. If you see Red, tell him I said hi" she winked and walked away. I smiled and walked up the stairs that lead me towards the entrance of where I will begin my first league battle.

A man who stood by the desk separating me from the entrance had saw me coming and asked for my appointment pass. I was given the option to rent out a room since every battle had separate days of participating.

I agreed and was informed that the members of the league live in separate small castles that joined in on the walking path towards the entrance of each castle. Each member is busy and not present today, but as of the next day, my battle with Will will begin as soon as I see him. I'll have to wait at his castle until he arrives.

"How unprofessional" I said to myself after walking pass the gate. When stepping out those doors, I was greeted with a cool breeze blowing through my hair as I stared up at a grand road with beautiful silver iron bars on the side of the edges. The floors were tiled in a beautiful blue color and single golden tiles in a pattern lead me to where I needed to go.

"Since Will is going to take his time coming home, I might as well take my time walking this road and admire the view" I looked above my path and spotted a mountain with no access to see its peak. That's where I want to go... but if I do manage to become champion of Johto, I probably won't have time to get there as fast as I could.

I turned to the right side of the edge of the path to see Kanto from a high point "I can practically see Saffron city from here" I sighed "To think... I'm all the way up here now" I pet Pichu's head on my shoulder "I said this a million times, but I can't believe I came this far"

"You know" I turned towards the path to see a man in a pink suit and mask standing a few feet away from me "Its rude to keep me waiting" I faced him, confused "You made a appointment with me at this time, yet you're gazing at the scenery"

"I was told you weren't here yet, so excuse me" I sweat dropped.

"I don't tell those people my business, now hurry up, Miss Zoe" he walked away, waving his hand "Time is ticking" I followed him towards the first castle in my view and was faced with a wide battle field in a room with nothing but a large staircase that leads to another floor. That's probably where these people live in their own castle.

"So" the man known as Will had turned towards me as soon as we walked in "Let me introduce myself before we battle. My name is Will, I have trained all around the world, making my psychic Pokémon stronger"

"So you specialize in Psychic type Pokémon" I said.

"But of course!" he smirked "And at last, I've been accepted into the Elite four! I can only keep getting better! Losing isn't an option" he pointed at my face "You might have that confident spark in your eyes, but I'll beat you down to a pulp and crush that spirit. Beating me will not be easy. Remember that!"

"Right" I sighed, finding this guy annoying "You're very bold to think you can make such a confident claim just because you have a title"

"E-Excuse me?"

"True, you had worked hard to make your Pokémon strong, but if you're as confident as you are, you wouldn't say such things. It's unprofessional and makes you look cocky" he glared and ran to his side of the battle field.

"I'll show you whose cocky!" He send out his first Pokémon, an Exeggutor. I sent out my Togekiss and begun my battle with the illusion Zorua made to have us standing in a pink glittering field.

I had never faced a strong opponent before and it kind of threw me off my game. Many of my Pokémon had fainted after an hour of battling, each. Every move had been tossed back and forth and dodging was mostly the best method to counter an attack. Both our teams had fainted multiple times and it was down to one on one after a six on six battle. He send out a Jynx. I gulped and stood my ground.

"I... I can't believe I'm down to only one Pokémon. You are very strong, Miss Zoe" Will snorted "but this isn't the end. With my ice type going against your grass type, I have the type disadvantage!" I snapped at Meganium to come to my side "What's this? Are you giving up?"

"Sorry, but our battle is over" he laughed.

"Excuse me, but you have no say into that matter. This battle will be over not because you say it's over" I shook my head.

"I demand you remove this Pokémon from the field!" Him and the Jynx were confused.

"You can't just make demands on that because you can't take a type disadvantage!"

"That's not the problem here!" I widened my arms "It takes a powerful person to be able to handle psychic type Pokémon! You are very strong in your abilities with your Pokémon, but I would hope that you know this Jynx shouldn't battle!" The Jynx looked uncomfortable and peaked at its trainer.

"And why not?" Will crossed his arms. I sighed and held my hip and pointed with the other hand.

"She's expecting!" The entire place was dead silent. The sound of the wind couldn't even get through the cement walls. The only thing I could hear was my own heart pounding and see Will astonished with something he didn't understand. His own Pokémon slowly faced him.

"W-What is this..?" He ran to the field and kneeled down to his Jynx "You're looking at me with that face... You don't mean" Jynx nodded "Why didn't you say anything?"

"Pokémon don't tell their trainers or even other Pokémon that they're expecting. If other Pokémon can sense it, the expecting Pokémon will find every way to protect itself and make it unknown to anyone until she lays the egg privately. For someone who can handle psychic types, I'm surprise you didn't see this prediction, or at least sensed it" I looked away, removing my eyes from how Will was expressing himself to his Pokémon before returning it. I looked back at him looking at me.

"So your name continues to hold the talent of anything that involves eggs. It's quite scary, you know?" He sighed and walked up to me "It's as you said... The battle is over. You have one remaining Pokémon left" he glanced away "I'm glad I got to battle you instead of someone else. They wouldn't be able to know about my Pokémon and stop anything from hurting her. Sorry I was rude before" he bowed his head "Even if I was defeated, I won't change my course. I will continue battling until I stand above all trainers, but my Pokémon comes first. Valerie Zoe, goodluck on your next challenge" I bowed back and went back to the Indigo Plateau to go to my room and wait for the next day to come around until I will face the next Elite four member; Koga... I think I heard of that name before.
