Chapter 45: Eeveelutions•
The dance theater was empty and quiet. The kimono girls were talking amongst themselves until they heard the door's bell ring and gasped in delight at the sight of me.
"Welcome!" The kimono girl with a Umbreon on her side came up to me first to take my hand while the others surrounded me "My name is Zuki! Remember me from Violet city? I had a look at your pretty egg!"
"Oh, yes. I remember. It's hard to forget the face of a pretty girl in a kimono" I smiled. Zuki blushed with a smile and stepped away.
"Remember me?" Another one asked, next to a Espeon and Zuki "I'm Naoko, We've met in Ilex Forest, where you suddenly came out of nowhere after being helped by the spirit of the forest?"
"Of course!" I dug in my bag to take something out.
"Are you feeling alright now? You looked so stressed and pale" I nodded and handed her back her handkerchief "Oh!" She took it back from me.
"I'm very well now! Thank you for your help!" She smiled.
"I'm not sure if you remember me" the girl next to me giggled "I'm Kuni, I was in Goldenrod city when you were taking on Team Rocket!"
"Yes, you were quite lucky to have gotten away from those lunatics" she giggled at my statement.
"Of course, you remember me!" The girl who I've met in this very place, twisted her body from side to side playfully "I'm Miki, we met here on stage! You know.." she tried not mentioning what happened before. I nodded "Are you okay?"
"Yes! I'm sorry you had to see that before! I'm better now, I promise!" She nodded.
"I'm glad to hear it!" The girl hugging my arm wiggled to get my attention.
"Of course, you have to remember me!" She jumped out my arm to hold her hips with a big smile "I'm Sayo! You rescued me from the ice path and got me to the Pokémon center on time!" The girls looked surprised.
"That was you she was talking about?" Zuki gasped "What a hero! You've made a great name for yourself! If you weren't there to help Sayo, we could had lost her!"
"She even said you took off your shirt to provide her warmth!" Miki said.
"I'm sure that was pretty embarrassing" Kuni blushed.
"Not really. It meant more to me that Sayo got the help she needed. I didn't matter as long as I got her to where she needed to go" the girls started gushing over me. It's not everyday I have girls behave like this around me, but I can't say it never happened.
"That's only what a true hero would say!" Naoko squealed excitedly. I'm a bit confused... Am I that admirable?
"Say!" Sayo jumped up "How's that egg I gave you?" I had send out my Eevee licking its fur. The girls squealed excitedly and started gently playing with Eevee, who took it as flattery and accepted the petting stones.
This form of admiration had reminded me of the time I met all those gym leaders back in my last night of working for the club. It was a refreshing sight to see and it made me happy.
"So adorable! I wonder what it'll be destined to evolve into!" Miki spun around with her Flareon.
"Let's focus now" Zuki said, getting serious "In order to bring back Ho-Oh, we needed someone with the right bond with Pokémon. We asked Mr.Pokemon to give this mystery egg to whoever showed true potential" she explained how it was passed around until I went into my hands "Although... It seems as it was meant to be, since you were born to care for eggs!"
"What do you mean?" Kuni asked.
"Didn't I say before? She's a member of the Zoe family!" Everyone gasped.
"What a blessing!" Naoko said.
"It totally was meant to be!" Sayo clapped her hands.
"Though this alone will not be sufficient to face the power of this Pokémon" Zuki became serious again.
"This is a bit too sudden. Um... Since we're really doing this... girls, if I may ask?" I frowned "This destiny was written in stone, you can say. The master of the bell tower had set my parents together so that I can be the one to face this Pokémon" Everyone looked at each other "He knew my mom was a member of the Zoe family and aimed to have my talent be the way to this future"
"It is a pure coincidence that the egg had been given to you" Kuni said "there was no way we would've known who this person he was waiting for. The ones he matched together had unfortunately died in a mysterious fire and there was no sign of their child"
"What a miracle it is that you survived, but your destiny is written in stone. You cannot die so easily. The master didn't see that future" Miki said.
"Because you were thought to have died, though it wasn't likely, our father who works in the tower had needed to find another way to face Ho-Oh" Kuni said.
"And then the egg had been our plan to find that special trainer" Sayo said "It had found its way to the true person we've been wanting to put our fate on. You" I bit my lips.
"The master of the Bell tower was wise and sought a future we couldn't see. You can only imagine the confusion and stress we all faced in order to find a loop hole into what he saw... His last words have been said, but we all heard differently" Zuki hid her mouth with her sleeve.
"If I may ask, what did you hear?" They looked a bit uncomfortable to answer, but were willing to tell me "A man named Revenoo had told me he heard... the destiny of our future may struggle in the beginning, but all will fall together ~by~ to bring peace back to our land and bring Ho-Oh back to the tower" I paused "Then Morty told me he heard 'together, all will bring peace to our future'"
"I heard..." Naoko started "The destiny of our future is a struggle and may fall by the tower"
"I heard..." Sayo started "The struggle in the beginning will fall and bring peace back to our land"
"I heard..." Zuki started "All will fall in our future and Ho-Oh will bring struggle to our land"
"I heard..." Kuni started "Our future may struggle but all may bring peace to the tower"
"And I heard..." Miki finished "In the beginning, our destiny will struggle, but peace may fall in our land by Ho-Oh in the tower" every one of their words had a connection with the same words rephrased in different sentences. Not a new word was used at all, yet they all heard different things. How is that possible?
"It doesn't matter now. What the master had saw had lead us here today" Zuki said "We already know you are capable of doing this task, but we must test you to see you are ready. If we may" the girls stood next to each other with their Eeveelutions beside them "We will test you individually in battle" I nodded and got to battle with every individual kimono girl of a specific typing I had the advantages of with either my Pokémon typing or attack moves.
I had let my Dratini, Togekiss, Clefable, Meganium, and Eevee battle against each girl and all were successful. Because Eevee had learned Shadow ball from Clefable, he was able to take down the Espeon fairy mildly due to needing more training, but everyone was successful in the end. Eevee had jumped up and down in victory.
"I knew you'd do it" I smiled at her excitement like the kimono girls around us. Eevee had ran towards me and jumped in the air, suddenly glowing mid jump. I quickly caught him and watched his body grow a ribbon like form to wrap around my hands. Soon after it wrapped around me, his body grew and expressed a happy pink Pokémon with a bow on his head and neck. Eevee evolved!
"You're kidding!" I gasped "You evolved!?" This new Pokémon had cheered and cuddled with me with his ribbons wrapped around me like a hug. I don't even know what to call this Pokémon... I never seen it before.
"Wow!" Every girl in the theater had came up to see his cuteness and practically melted. Even the girl's Eeveelutions had came to see the new form.
"I never seen this form before!" Miki squealed.
"So cute!" Kuni squealed as well. Zuki looked back at her Umbreon standing in the same place it stood before "What's wrong, boy? What's with that look on your face?" Umbreon looked a bit uncomfortable. My new Pokémon had noticed the dark type keeping its distance and decided to wink in a flirtatious way. I choked in laughter as Umbreon got upset and ran off.
"Umbreon!" Zuki ran after it. I placed my Pokémon down and pet it's head.
"I got myself some flirty Pokémon" Zorua and Pichu on my side giggled at what I meant. I got up and faced the girls.
"We've learned about you as a trainer head on before we knew who you were as a Zoe" Zuki walked up to me, holding her uncomfortable Umbreon in her arms "You have proven your strength and deserve this" she handed me a Clear Bell the size of both my hands "Pretty, isn't it?" I stared at the Clear Bell in my hands, seeing how similar it looked with my dad's good luck charm he gave me.
The door to the theater had slammed open, letting in a little girl in a rush towards us on stage "big sisters!" She panicked out of breath.
"What's wrong? What is it?" Naoko asked.
"I just saw the big shadow of a Pokémon over the Bell Tower!" I flinched while the kimono girls looked at each other and nodded.
"Valerie" Zuki looked at me with a serious face "We'll be at the Bell Tower. See you there!" I nodded and watched them all leave the building except for one. Sayo had stayed behind to face me with a guilt look on her face.
"What is it, Sayo?" I asked. She didn't have it in her to look at me in the eye.
"I... I had left the Pokémon center a day after I was brought from your rescue" she took a deep breath "I looked around for awhile and entered the Dragon's Den"
"You were there?" She nodded, still not looking at me.
"I was listening when you were talking to the elder..." oh... "I shouldn't have been listening. I felt so dirty" she bowed "I'm so sorry! I am ashamed!"
"It's okay..." she got back up, hiding half her face with her sleeve, trying not to cry.
"I never heard such sensitive words before... Every word you said had made my heart hurt. You have a way with words, and even if I'm ashamed that I was listening, I was truly moved and was glad to hear it" she closed her eyes "I shouldn't say such things..."
"I see what you're saying" I took her hand, making her blush a bright red "It's okay. It's all behind me. I am not who I am today if it wasn't for everything I experienced" she stared at our hands holding.
"Y-Y-Yes..." I cleared my throat and walked away from her "L-Let's go to the Bell Tower!" I smiled back at her.
"Let's go then" she had lead me towards the barrier station, where a bunch of monks were praying on the floor. She lead me to Revenoo guarding a large grand door that looked like was made of gold.
"We meet again" Revenoo bowed to me and stepped to the side "No need to explain your reasoning for coming. I had promised to let you through the next time you come" he got up and nodded with a smile "Go right ahead" Sayo giggled and pulled on my hand to follow her pass the large doors and towards the outside to experience the beauty of the colorful trees in our path.
"This place is always so beautiful..." she spun around, admiring the trees "Since Ho-Oh left, many people have gone up to the tower to try to bring it back, but none have succeeded in making it appear... Morty, the gym leader, is one who has tried as well, and that says a lot"
"Really? He didn't tell me this"
"It would be embarrassing to tell someone you failed, don't you think?" I guess she's right "He's helped you a lot, hasn't he? With his ability?" I nodded "He cannot see the future without a physical touch, so it was pretty frustrating on him"
"Know him well enough?"
"Pretty much. He comes to wash away his problems with his friend, Eusine, at the theater. They always come to have a good time and talk about silly things" she giggled.
"Pe!"
"Zo!" Pichu and Zorua had cried out for my attention. Zorua, in my bag, dug through it while Pichu was hanging on and watching from the side. Zorua had taken out my box with the feather. The rainbow feather was glowing inside.
"That feather..." a monk who was standing next to the entrance of the tower had gasped at the sight of the glow "You've done it" he gestured his hand towards the entrance "Please, come in" Sayo had jumped to stand in front of the entrance and faced me with a smile.
"We made it!" She turned her back and winked at me "See you at the top!" She ran in.
"Wait!" I hurried inside and saw no sign of her "What..? Where she go?" Pichu climbed down my leg to take the lead "You already know what to do!" I smiled and followed her through the tower to get to the very top by climbing a bunch of stairs and getting pass the few wild Pokémon that were around. The building was much taller than the bellsprout tower, and left my legs shaking for some reason. Could be because I was tired or... overwhelmed?
I finally made it to the top where I walked out a window and walked up a set of stairs heading towards a large floor guarded by tall golden bars with bird statues on every corner.
"This is the place..." I stared at the lonely gray skies "Dad told me about" I thought back at the time he told me a story before bed time.
"The Bell Tower was all mine to protect. The god of the skies creates beautiful rainbows in a peaceful day and will bless those with happiness if seen by those it wishes to be seen by. It hasn't came to the tower in so many years and many people had tried to bring it back, but all have failed. I believe there would be a bright trainer out there who will be worthy of this happiness and good luck and share it with those around them. Not just anyone can summon a god" his smiles were so gentle and warm "With a luxurious name that came from your moms side of the family, who knows... You may be the one to bring us this happiness"
"Do you really think so?" My little self asked "Rainbows don't exist, daddy" he chuckled at me.
"They do exist, but because our sun had been blocked by a fog in the sky, we cannot see it. May our god of the sun bless us with its warmth once again" our world had always been shaded up above. We knew about things like the sun, but we never been able to see it with our own eyes. The orb in the sky gave us light and provided us with food and nature, but it had a barrier we couldn't see pass. I had thought that dad was making up stories before, but if my destiny was really written on stone, maybe I can bring back this sun dad told me so much about.
I haven't known it at the time, but when he told me these stories, he wasn't saying it to a curious kid who wondered if she may be able to be worthy, he was saying it to a kid who was worthy, but only made it out as a question more than a statement to ease my excitement and not crush my spirit if I failed.
This very moment has came to face that very Pokémon my dad spoke very fondly off... The one that is said to bring good luck and happiness to the person who seen it, the one who can only choose who can see it, the one I saw before a storm came to kill my parents.
