Chapter 3: Dancer•

Looks upon looks and even whistles were shot towards me as I walked the streets of Saffron in a small skirt and exposed shirt that hardly let me close up to at least some part of my body, but my figure failed to let me do so. I'll be kicked out the hospital before I get the chance to go inside.

"Damn girl, if you got enough to show off like that I'm sure you don't mind showing off that number of yours?" Some old man swooned over me. I rolled my eyes at the bad pick up line and moved along to the hospital near by.

Getting cat called was always annoying in my book, but it's something I got use to during the years. I learned to ignore it by not going out in the revealing clothing my boss gave me as street clothes, and only wore what I stole from my clients.

There's no way I'd ever accept a cat call unless I'm told to by my boss. It would often end with me leaving with them to their place and got force into a one night stand, in which I can't back out of because I always have a bouncer watching me enter someone's home and my client is given questions to see if I was satisfying enough to them. It's like my boss demands to know if I'm doing the job he's not getting paid to do... I can never get into that man's head, but after awhile? I learned that he just wants to keep a good reputation for the club with a guaranteed session with any girl a guy picks.

Avoiding the eyes watching me walk every step in the streets, I finally arrived at the hospital and walked up to the front desk lady, who looked up at me confused before looking down at my shirt.

"I would like to enter the financial office for a payment" she slowly nodded, looking like she was skeptical if someone was pulling a prank on her or something, and got up to escort me there.

Again, I had to ignore the wandering eyes keeping themselves on me and my body before entering the financial office, where I met up with the woman who I was talking to earlier.

"Good afternoon, Miss Black" I greeted, making her look up from her computer and look at my clothes before standing to smile and get up to come and give me a hug. I stood there as still as I can be, not really a hugging kind of person.

"It's good to see you earlier than expected. I see you were able to come in early. From the looks of it" she added "You're working early in the day time?"

"Unfortunately, Yes. Forgive me" I handed her the money in my wallet "this is all I can give you today.." she slowly took the money and started going through it.

"I'll accept this, but like I told you before, your balance had to be half done or more next month in order to catch up before the 3 month is over" she folded the money together "They don't take any excuses after that. Must I repeat myself. If you don't pay as soon as possible, they'll-" I groaned.

"Don't make things worse on me by repeating yourself. I heard you loud and clear" I turned away. A jacket rested on my shoulders suddenly, making me look back at her placing it on me to cover up better.

"I'm sorry, Valerie. I tried to keep the deadline as long as I could, but it's out of my hands" I looked away and patted her hand on my shoulder.

"You people always try to help me... Every last one of you" I looked down "I do not deserve your kindness. I am grateful for all you've done for me so far, letting me keep my Pokémon and not send it away to where it'll be given to a new trainer. I've held on for so long, hanging by a thread, hoping I'd be able to surpass the payment, but I think it'll be better off if my little one finds someone who can take care of it better than I can"

"You still have three months. Give that some thought and don't push yourself. No matter what, I'll still help you" I shut my eyes. Why do I have so many people in my life who does this to me..? Who cares... I deserve none of it.

"Thanks" I walked out without looking at her, taking the jacket with me and headed back to work with less eyes watching me thanks to the jacket hiding my cleavage.

Returning to work, I found that everything looked normal and the girls were still playing with their makeup. I ignored them noticing me walk in and headed to where I was assigned to work. My coworker I work aside with was in the bar carrying some bottles with what looked like Kathy's Abra.

"So she got her Pokémon to do my work. Great" I sighed, looking around to see if the boss was around "Aaron" I called. The bartender looked over at me and simply handed me the bottles he was carrying.

"I heard what happened. You left for something I don't really care about. Now that you're back, do the rest of the work so this Abra can leave. It can't follow directions correctly" I looked over at the Abra putting bottles of liquor into the cleaning supply cabinet.

"Right" I set the bottles I had in hand and pet the Abra about to teleport away before noticing it was me "Thank you for your hard work. You may go now" it disappeared without a word, letting me take care of the mess it caused unintentionally.

"You are a different person when it comes to Pokémon. It seems so unreal, like I'm meeting a new person who turns into a total jerk when they aren't any around" Aaron smirked at me holding of the face of 'shut the fuck up or you'll get hurt'

Since I knew my coworkers for so many years, it's only natural that I got to know their Pokémon as well. I got along with their Pokémon more than the actual people I worked with, which is more understandable since Pokémon are less annoying than real people, but then again... I just grew up taking care of Pokémon, so it's natural that I get along with them so easily.

"Your point? Quit talking and let's just get this over with. I swear I better get paid double for this" I loudly tapped a bottle on the counter in frustration "No matter what it takes... I need more money" all Aaron did was stare at me and then went on with continuing to prep the bar while I started cleaning around the tables to get them ready for guest to sit and watch the dancers strip and tease for them for tips.

Everything was normal, since this was what we had to do on a normal basis every night, but what was different about today was as soon as we finished cleaning, the girls and our boss walked out from the back to sit down with me and Arron waiting on our seats to know what else we can do in this early time of the day.

"Reporting for duty! Boss" one of the girls giggled to his pleasure, winking at him, as well as the other girls. I was disgusted and turned away.

"Good afternoon, everyone" boss smiled "I'm glad to see everyone here to hear the report about the upcoming party tonight-" I placed the heel of my foot on the table I was sitting by, quite loudly, enough to get his attention and see how annoyed I was.

"This better be worth it since I was dragged out my place without permission!" I glared "What's so special about this stupid birthday party anyways?"

"There's a birthday party?!" One of the girls gasped in joy. The boss nodded with that stupid smile of his. It's like it's imprinted on his face...

"Yes. They are very important guest, so we have to respect them to the best of our ability and entertain them and their friends"

"Out with it" I yelled out "What's so special about this birthday party?"

"I'm getting to that. The young man who requested the private party is a very strong trainer who once held the title; Champion of Kanto" I hummed at the interesting information, but it wasn't interesting enough to impress me "He's holding this party for his friend who is the current champion" everyone looked at me to see my reaction. I didn't have one.

"How lucky we are to be to host the party for two impressive trainers!" A girl clapped happily "I'll make sure to give them extra attention"

"Don't forget their friends as well" another girl said "This will be fun!"

"This party will be a private one, so it won't be a full house tonight. As you may know, this young man who requested the private night offered a lot of money to make it happen, thus giving us a boost of costumes and liquor for everyone" everyone but I, cheered "there will be a total of 20 guest in the building. Remember you have to make each one of them feel special, but the birthday boy is most important. Got it?" Everyone nodded. He turned to me playing with my jacket "Make sure to take off that jacket when it's time for the guest to arrive" I rolled my eyes "You might be dancing tonight, so make sure to put on some make up to make yourself look pretty" I huffed and looked up at him without lifting my head.

"Don't I look pretty enough?" Everyone sweat dropped when seeing the bags under my eyes "There are 10 dancers working here and you're telling me I MIGHT dance?" I scoffed angrily.

"I like how you always refer to us as dancers when we're just strippers" one of the girls giggled with the rest. Strippers, dancers, whatever "you're a dancer, Kitty, we're not. Your ballet dancing is what makes the audience love you. You throw in a uniqueness to the stage we can never do" I didn't respond, knowing what she meant.

The boss would ask me to get on stage and dance for the audience if the girls couldn't spice things up more or calm things down, and my technique wasn't dancing on the pole and shaking my ass like the rest.

My dance comes from a traditional grace dance that had been passed down to me by my late grandmother who was also a dancer for the pleasure of her audience in her young days.

It wasn't sexual in the sense, but with added accessories, brief exposure to skin and a long flowy skirt that was cut aside of my leg to my thigh was enough to make anyone swoon over my movements.

"I rather stay behind the bar" I got up and stood in the place I was most comfortable when people are around "I make good drinks, I do my work right and am highly respected for the skills I have behind here. People don't tip as well, but it's much better than having men nose bleeding over simple movements that mean nothing" Lilly stood up.

"This again? You really think your dances mean nothing?" Not since I had to perform for these horny men who don't deserve it.

"You're getting paid to work any position I give you" the boss said. Checks are one thing, but the tips is all that counts the most for an honorable living, or at least a better one than what I have.

"I already know that. I'll do whatever you ask me to, it's my JOB anyways" I narrowed my eyes "You'll be the death of me, Ronan" I flipped my hair and looked for some more work to do around the counters while the meeting continued without me.

"I expect all of you to make this night special. Remember, these are the people that gave us these new things. Be grateful" I felt the boss looking over at me "Lilly, get Kitty to put on some makeup" I picked up a fork and threw it at him, having him catch it before it hit his face.

"Stop calling me that. I swear, if any of you call me that stupid nickname again, you'll regret it" he lowered the fork.

"I never heard you complain about it when you first got it 7 years ago" he said.

"Oh yeah, like you listen to anything I say" I have been complaining about it since I received it, but apparently he becomes dense when something he doesn't like is being told to him.

"The host of the party will be coming soon with the party decorations he wanted to prepare" he continued to the meeting like we weren't having a conversation "Help him out, will you, men?" The bouncers nodded "Girls, you know what to do" the girls nodded and went back to the dressing rooms while Lilly took my hand to take me there as well.

"Will you let go of me?" I said, annoyed.

"Sorry, Boss's orders" I rolled my eyes "Besides! I wanted to do your makeup before you had to take that phone call" she slowly stopped when we arrived and sat me down on her personal mirror and makeup table "How was it, by the way?"

"None to your concern" I glanced at how awful I looked in my reflection "I'm just glad I got to make the payment"

"I'll be more than happy to offer my tips I make tonight and give it to you. There's always tomorrow. It's a Thursday night with minimal people. If there's not enough, I can offer you more next time" she started brushing my hair happily. I sighed and watch her do so.

"You got 1 million on you?" She sweat dropped at my joke "I said I don't need your money. You've tried and tried many times. What makes you think I'll ever take your offer?"

"Why don't you?" I sighed.

"One thing goes through one ear, and out the other... I don't want to feel like I owe anyone"

"You won't!" She accidentally yanked my hair! "S-Sorry!" She had a hard time going through the knots in my hair "I wouldn't ever want my kids to struggle with money, so I don't mind giving them what they need. This is only my second job. My first job provides enough for them, but this job is for me" I looked down, thinking how nice it would be to have two jobs.

"And it should stay that way. I am not your kid, so don't give me money I don't deserve. You're working for yourself, and I'll do the same for myself"

"You deserve so much for the crap Ronan puts you through. I still don't know how you're able to do it, but you deserve it all. You work so hard. You're so talented, and you've been here so long without letting others help you that I feel like a mother who can't even give you anything you work so hard for" I looked at her makeup starting to run "I never seen you cry... It broke my heart" I closed my eyes.

"You're worrying about the wrong thing... You wonder why I end up at a place like this at my age. I'm not worth any concern. Look at me" I looked at my reflection and looked at what a disappointment I was "I don't want to ever hear you say you want to give me money. Understand?" She picked up a makeup wipe and cleaned her running makeup.

"I'll find a way" she finished and started fixing my hair and my makeup for a more natural look than the more popping colors than the girls had, which I appreciated. After the time spent in the dressing room preparing and prepping, it was finally time to meet the host of the party. Kill me now.
