Chapter 28: Farm•
Getting myself together, I had looked up after walking for who knows how long and ended up looking towards the sky, seeing a burned tower right where I stood.
"The Burned tower... I walked this far?" I asked myself before walking towards it. There was a sign saying to keep out, but I walked in anyway when seeing a man in a purple suit looking around with Morty by his side. They looked towards me walking in and Morty was the first to approach me.
"I'm glad to see you left the clinic in one piece" he smiled.
"I wasn't going to die, you know?" I sweat dropped "Morty, I found you just in time. I need to ask you something" he listened before the guy in the suit interfered.
"Sorry, but we're in the middle of an important search right now"
"It can't be any more important than what I have to say" I furrowed my brows. The guy in the suit was taken back.
"E-Excuse me?! We are on the trail of a Pokémon named Suicune! And you are?!"
"Eusine, stop it" Monty said "This is a friend, the girl I told you about who passed out in the middle of the streets" Eusine looked back at me.
"Oh! So you're that girl? My bad, I thought you were just one of Monty's little fans. If I let one of them intervene, we'll never get stuff done"
"You see, we heard rumors that Suicune was here in the burned tower, so we came to see. If you look down that hole" we glanced at the hole in the middle of the floor to look down at the bottom floor at a majestic creature resting on the floor "it's right there. We're a bit busy, you see, but I don't mind hearing out what you have to say" Monty said. I frowned and felt bad for bothering them. It can wait...
"I won't intervene then. I have to calm down before I come and talk to you again" I walked ahead into the burned tower "go ahead and do what you have to do"
"Are you sure?" Monty frowned. I nodded and looked up ahead of me, seeing someone standing by the hole with his long red hair covering his face.
"Silver?" My feet were still walking when I saw him. I didn't get the chance to see where I was going. The solid flooring under my feet disappeared at a simple step forward.
"Valerie!" Monty gasped. I panicked and felt the flooring come back underneath me, lifting me back to the ground floor and set me down on the floor. I looked up at what picked me up and saw the majestic creature from the basement level staring down at me.
It's blue body and purple wavy mane shined beautiful before my eyes. It stared down at my face before licking my cheek and jumped up in the open hole on the ceiling before disappearing. I held my cheek surprised, watching it leave.
"What was that..?" I asked myself. Monty and Eusine rushed up to help me off the floor. Monty took my shoulders take shake me out my shocked phase.
"That was dangerous, Val! You should be watching your step!" I looked down.
"Sorry, I got distracted"
"Getting distracted by something that may not be as important as your own life" Silver walked over to me.
"Silver... I knew that was you" he looked at me with a plain look on his face.
"You could had died. I know I wasn't the one that distracted you" I frowned and looked down.
"I'm surprised you actually care" he snorted and walked pass us.
"Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't want to see a girl get hurt, no matter how much I don't care about people" he looked back at me frowning at him "You were lucky that legendary Pokémon saved you, but don't think you're anything special. I don't care what happens to you" I frowned deeper.
"Says the one who reached out when I fell" he looked away "I saw that... Silver, I-"
"I don't have time for this. You get distracted so easily" I looked at him confused "Look at you, pathetic... You've gotten skinny again"
"Wha-" he walked away without another word "Silver! I'm trying to talk to you!" He ignored me and kept walking. I sighed and walked farther from the hole and hurried to the entrance to get away from the danger, and Silver had already disappeared "It's so hard knowing what he's thinking about"
"You got to see Suicune first hand..." Eusine said "I've been chasing Suicune for almost 10 years, but I never seen it get that close to anyone. It was clear that Suicune took a notice of your presence" Monty held my shoulder and nodded.
"And that can mean so much. Legendary Pokémon are said to come to people only when they recognize their talent" I looked at him surprised "anyway, what is it that you wanted to talk about?" Oh right, I came here to see him for a reason.
"Did you know me before you followed Falkner to Kanto?" He looked beyond surprised, but let it go and sighed.
"I see where this is going... First off, why are you asking?"
"I went to the Barrier station and I was told about what the Master there said about something" he nodded "the man who told me what's written in stone can be confirmed with a fortune teller. I instantly thought of you and Sabrina"
"So you know Sabrina?" He thought for a moment "That was my grandfather's brother they were talking about" his grandfather's brother? "He can foresee events that happen way pass a few generations, and is why he is called a master. I was blessed to gain that ability to foresee a future, but it's nothing like what he or Sabrina can do. With me, I have to know what I'm looking at and physically touch it in order to know that specific thing's future" he continued.
"I didn't know you before I followed Falkner, but when I got to see you and physically touched you back those years ago, I saw something I didn't understand at first" he closed his eyes. I took his shoulders, getting him to open them.
"What do you mean? It seems that everyone is confused on what's happening and even Sabrina won't tell me details. She always knows what to say at the perfect time and I know she knows something I don't. Please tell me something, Monty" he frowned and looked down.
"I'm sorry, but the reason why she won't tell you too much is because it's bad luck. I cannot tell you what I saw" I slowly let go of him "But I can tell you one thing..." he pointed at my bag "That feather in your bag"
"Feather?" He nodded.
"It'll make the most difference if you hold onto that for dear life. The only thing I can tell you is what I heard the master say before he died" my eyes widened "Yes, I was there when it happened, and it seemed that those who were there heard something completely different" I took his arm again.
"Okay. What did you hear?" He sighed and closed his eyes.
"Together, all will bring peace to our future" I let go of his arm.
"Those are part of the words Revenoo heard, but mixed up" he nodded.
"Who is there to say that those who heard him heard mixed up words as well. Go ahead and continue your journey. All may be difficult, but you'll find the right path. In order to help you get through that path" he showed me a Pokéball "I challenge you to an official Pokémon gym battle" O-Oh! "Any person who can foresee the future will help you as much as they can, but they will not reveal the truth, or all will be reversed"
"Are you saying I'm part of this destiny after all?" I bit my lips "My destiny was actually written in stone?" He shook his head.
"Nothing is absolute. You'll be the one writing what will be written in stone" I nodded, quivering my lips "Let us go to my gym and battle" I nodded and followed him to the other side of the city to have our official battle.
It was a straight forward match between me and Monty. He didn't hold back with his ghost type Pokémon and I needed my girls to fight first hand. Bayleef battled like she always did, but returned back to my side to let Togepi and even Cleffa battle. It was a difficult road, but what saved them from losing and even getting hurt was their psychic abilities. They were successful and I'm pretty sure they gained experience from it all.
"I knew you'd win" Monty chuckled "but in order to make sure I wasn't just seeing things, I went all out. So don't think I was just being nice to you or the little cuties who were brave enough to face my ghost" Yeah... At first the babies were too nervous to face the ghost making scary faces, but one good look at me and they brushed it off like they weren't scared just a second ago.
"Yeah, they're pretty great, huh?" I smiled. He walked up to me and handed me his badge.
"I'm sorry I can't tell you anything yet, and I'm sure what your feeling is all over the place"
"I don't even know what to make of it... The master of the Bell tower had set up my parents so I could be born, but I don't want to think it was for something written on stone" I held my heart "I will choose my own path. I have the right to choose whatever I choose fit" he nodded.
"As you should" he handed me a piece of paper "Now that I got to physically touch you, I can help you out by sending you messages or call you when I see something"
"You make it seem like I let you take advantage of me for information" he jumped and turned red. I winked while sticking my tongue out "Well, I better go" I bowed "thank you again for everything..." I made sure my Pokémon were set in my bag. Pichu was secured on my shoulders, so left the gym in search for the Dance Theater to look for Miki to know what the Tower Master said.
When going there, I saw that it was closed for the day "You're kidding..." I frowned, looking up at the building "Oh well... I guess it's time to move on"
"Pe" Pichu frowned, lowering her ear.
"It's for the best, I guess. I'm all exhausted from everything being thrown at me all at once. I need to take a break" I looked at the city "As much as I want to stay here and look at the scenery, I can do that after I deal with what I'm aiming for" I took my Pokémon to the Pokémon center for healing and made my way out the city to route 38.
The day and nights had gradually went by smoother than the other times I had traveled through routes to get to the next city. Because I had Bayleef constantly remind me to eat with her and the others, I had so much more energy and didn't get irritable while getting around battling other trainers.
I wish I had thought to do this on my other trips, but because I guess I'm pretty stubborn or forgetful, nothing has happened until recently. Days went by smoothly and there was a moment when I didn't care to find the next city. I just wanted to relax and play with my Pokémon.
In the middle of our trip getting to the next city, we had made it to route 39 and stumbled upon a large field with nothing but short grass and Miltanks roaming around. The sun was setting around this time and I wanted to do something that I was looking forward to doing back in the dance theater, but thought to do it here.
It wasn't an option to change clothes in the middle of the open, but my red dress came with two frilly scarfs I hold up to give an illusion of fire every time I wave them around.
I went into the field and danced around with my wings, spinning around and jumping around the field around me. The Miltank surrounded my stage and my Pokémon enjoyed every moment of it. Dancing is my soothing meditation I haven't used in so long since what happened. I'm not sure if I can blame my outburst for not dancing, but all I can feel is peace as I dance through the grass barefoot and feel like I was flying...
The moment I stopped dancing, I heard someone clapping. I looked to the side to see a set of twin little girls clapping for me with the Pokémon who were watching me. I smiled and watched them approach me.
"Wow! That was so pretty!" One of them said "You looked like a fairy!"
"A fairy who was dancing with fire! So cool!" The other said. I giggled and walked back to my Pokémon by my bag.
"Thank you girls. Sorry, I shouldn't be here, and neither should you at this time. I'll be going now-" my instincts were pushing on me. I looked around and saw a farm on the other side of the field.
"An egg?" I felt an egg near by, or at least something like that. The girls looked at each other.
"What? Do you know that our Miltank is expecting?" One girl said.
"Wow! She must be magical!" The other gasped and took my hand "Come on, fairy, come see our Miltank!"
"W-What..?" I was dragged by the both of them pulling my hands and had my Pokémon simply follow me. We entered an open barn with a man petting on a Miltank laying on the floor in pain. I stayed by the door as the girls rushed towards him.
"Daddy! Look!" The girls yelled out "We have a fairy here that can help Miltank!" The man looked at the girls confused before looking at me.
"I'm sorry, I was only on my way to the city and stopped by the field to rest. These girls insisted I should help" I walked a little more into the barn and held my arms "I heard that Miltank was expecting?" He nodded and stood up.
"Yes, she is. I'm sorry my daughters dragged you here out of nowhere. They've been trying to find passerbys who are willing to help us. I keep telling them it's dangerous, but as long as they're around the Miltank, I know they're safe. If the Miltank trust you to come this far, I know you mean well" he smiled "Our Miltank is expecting and she doesn't want to give birth. It's been so many days and she's in pain. We had a doctor that was going to help, but he had more important things to do" he looked down "I'm pretty desperate here. I don't know who to depend on to help Miltank" I walked up to Miltank to pet her head and observed her stomach.
"How long have you been with her since you found out she was expecting"
"The entire time. We never left her side for the pass week" I shook my head and walked up to the man.
"I might not know much about birth... but that's mainly because Pokémon don't give birth in front of people" the man blinked a few times, not getting it "As far back as when Pokémon eggs were discovered, not one person had seen a Pokémon lay an egg. I come from a family who nursed eggs for generations, and even they haven't seen it for themselves. Pokémon cannot give birth with people around. They need their space, and since you haven't give her any, I recommend to leave her alone for tonight"
"H-How do you know this? Are you a doctor?"
"I'm an egg expert, that's all. There is no other option for you to take. Trust in my word and give Miltank space" the man frowned at Miltank frowning at him.
"I haven't dealt with this kind of thing before. My dad knew more about raising baby Pokémon than I do. These Pokémon were born when he was around, so I don't know what to do" I took his shoulder.
"It'll be okay" I reached to pet Miltank "I'll make sure your egg is well and healthy, okay?" She nodded and I had moved the man and girls away from the farm to let Miltank do her own thing.
"I hope you're right..." The man said.
"It'll be okay, daddy!" One of the girls said. I nodded.
"You're lucky to have me here at the right time. There's not a thing you need to worry about. This is what Pokémon deal with in the wild. They don't need anyone's help" Miltank was crying in the barn. The man was about to storm in before Bayleef pulled him back "Don't. You'll only make her stop and it'll cause her more pain" the man looked pained and watched the barn as Miltank continued to cry on her own. This is the miracle of life in a Pokémon's world. No one shall see the birth, for it is a sacred thing that makes Pokémon them. We are not to interfere, and it is what my family learned since raising thousands of eggs in their life time. This Miltank will be just fine.
