Backstory: His mom and dad broke up when his sister was still in their mom's stomach. They broke up, because his dad didn't want to move to Kalos, but instead wanted to stay in Hoenn where he would still be the leader of Team Aqua. When Evangeline and her sisters came from Hoenn to live with them, he promised that he would help keep them all safe.
