Basically, this does indeed count as a canon. The fact that Serena told him and after he smiled, implying that he did indeed enjoy it. In the Pokémon fandom, a canon is categorized as when two characters show their feelings for each other and they both know it. In my opinion, the KISS alone should signal a canon.

This actually explains a lot. For example, why they attempted to age Ash. Obviously, this could be a very viable reason. This alone gives us a lot of doors opened.
