Chapter 85: Pouring Rain

A whole new day and a whole new mission, OZone walks down the hallway with a hollow stare in his eyes. The only sound he could hear is the sound of his own footsteps. The worry he held onto of the concern his admins displayed in previous missions began to wither away. Despite his continuing losses of his highest ranked and loyal admins, OZone was dead-set on continuing his forlong journey to rescue Cyrus from the empty voids of space.

"Good morning, everyone."

OZone was welcomed with somber silence, walking towards the front of the meeting room. He was met with a mixture of worn down and discouraged faces, a sense of dread fumed the atmosphere, but the boss pressed on, even somewhat unaware of their silent plea. He turns to Arc, who stood by his side ready to for him to share the new mission details. OZone admits that Arc may be a bit too defensive in his own right, but seeing how he's the only one wishing to proceed as much as himself is very assuring.

"As you may all remember, Belle's mission to retrieve the radioactive serum was a success. However, she has been captured by the same force who must've caught Buzz on his own mission."

Everyone but Arc traded each other a concerned look. The details about the arrest of two of their co-workers was that one part of the recap they were hoping OZone would hover over, but he wasn't done.

"I need to address something about this force... and it is important for everyone to listen well," OZone said as he fumbled with the remote to start the projector and continued his speech. "Thankfully, Belle had managed to obtain a photo of who were exactly up against, and it goes without me having the need to say... it's not what I was expecting in the slightest."

Now that the projector was on, he presented the photo of the International Junior Police he uploaded onto the device. Several eyes widen to this unexpected surprise, but Arc out of everyone was very displeased to see that photo.

"Are you fucken kidding me?" He scowled, burning his brain of the thought that children of all people had the capability to take down extraterrestrial creatures such as the Ultra Beasts. "If Belle and Buzz lost to the likes of mere kids, then they had no right to the possession of-"

Suddenly, Diachi spoke up, trying to defend the two admins from Arc's criticism. The boy stood up from his seat, Rōzu tried to calm him down, but was immediately cut by OZone himself.

"If I may FINISH," OZone said, straining his voice to make both admins from making any more needless arguing. One deep breath later, he resumed on with the mission. "Who we face is not the issue here. What is important is we stay on top of anyone that comes our way. I don't wish to lose any more of you, which is why it is urgent I share you the photo Belle managed to send to me."

Now changing the slides on the projector, it was now time for the specifics of the mission.

"What I'm after next is a generator, not just any ordinary one. A large generator capable of creating a massive amount of energy. I have the exact model I need for the ID3I," OZone changed slides, projecting a large white generator that looked like it could do the job of providing the energy needed. However, it looked a bit big to move all on its own. Without UB-Absorption's incredible physical strength, it will prove a challenge to move. OZone had a plan to counter this issue. "Because the model is to be shipped from an export carrier, I will be providing a ship to the one assigned for this mission."

OZone said, Arc chiming in to provide additional details on the mission.

"OZone and I have discussed the method to transfer this generator onto the ship without any issue and have come to a decision. The one assigned to the mission shall be assisted by my Alakazam. Instead of physical strength, its psychic capability will be more than enough to move our target."

A few of the admins couldn't help but to acknowledge Arc's tilted eyebrow when he warns the group not to leave a trusted Pokémon to the likes of those police children.

"I highly doubt those brats can take on my Alakazam, but I still advise you to take caution of other possible threats. If you do however, than we will have a major issue."

Arc stepped back, OZone thanks his most loyal admin before taking the center once again.

"As for the two who will be tasked to take the generator, I will be assigning Cypher and Serenity."

Hearing her own name, Serenity suddenly felt a hop on the inside oh her heart. The concerned admins turned their attention towards her as if she's to be walking off the plank of a pirate ship into Sharpedo infested waters.

"I-," She stuttered without thinking on what to say first, which she caught herself before properly replying. "Yes, of course. I will be ready upon the day of our mission."

OZone and Arc nodded, both having slight relief to hear Serenity is more willing to proceed with the next plan of operation. Arc shot both the younger boys a look, wishing he could demand the boys to take notes on acceptance, but didn't wish for the boss to raise his voice second time. That was the same reason why neither Daichi or Rōzu raised their voices either.

"So Serenity's on board, what about you Cypher? Think you're fine going through with this?"

Cypher didn't immediately respond. For a second, OZone may have felt like he was processing the fact he was assigned to proceed with the mission. Before another word could be spoken, the man stood up and nods.

"Sure, we'll get your generator. I'll make a plan to do so right now."

He said before making his way out the door, in which everyone both saw and didn't see coming.

"Huh," Mitsuki sighed, "He sure doesn't seemed phased to be stepping out back into thieving territory..."

After that long pause, OZone granted the admins to depart, closing the meeting for now. He didn't have any comments for the man simply walking out of the meeting room, which the others found a bit weird, but it was time to depart. Serenity urged to find Cypher, hoping he didn't get too far after dismissing himself. It took her a while before finding him in the employee break-room located on the very first floor of Cosmos Corporation.

"Quack, quack, quack-"

His Ducklett squawked, pecking away at a bowl of Pokémon food while Cyrus seem to be lost in thought, sipping away a can of lemon and lime flavored soda. He seemed almost as if he was staring off into space. Serenity stepped into the room, gesturing a small hello, hoping to catch the man's attention without startling him.

"Hello, Cypher..."

She greeted. Her sudden entrance didn't seem to startle the man, he simply replied back with a "hello". One that was is rather for the sake of replying back with lacking enthusiasm. He seemed much focused on whatever he might have been scrolling on his phone.

"Would it be okay if I may join you for a little while?"

"Go ahead."

The woman nodded as she took the open seat across from the man sat at the small table. The atmosphere was awkward, not much could be heard inside of the break room. Just the sound of Ducklett pecking away its bowl of Pokémon food. The woman sat there thinking on saying something, but her mind came to a halt. As much as she was considering to hop on the topic of the mission, she worried if it was too early to do so.

"So... Cypher. If I may ask you again, why did you leave the meeting so suddenly?" She asked, considering that OZone isn't the type of boss to forgive immediate withdraws. "I don't wish to overstate certain policies such as Arc would, but I don't think its the best course of action to-"

She was cut off unexpectedly, the tone in Cypher's voice seemed to be flat, so he sounded as if he wasn't concerned with his informal exit.

"The same reason why you're here I assume. To work on that plan to swipe the generator OZone wants." He spoke without batting a single eye up to the woman. He knows, it was as obvious just by Serenity asking to join him in the break-room. "That's why you're also here, right?"

That question caught her off guard. As mean as it sounds at first glance, it was a legitimate question. Serenity lowered her eyes on the white table, pausing before she looked back up.

"Well-yes. That may be only one of the reasons why I wish to join you, but I was also curious why you were in such a hurry to leave."

"I wouldn't say I was in a hurry, I know this mission isn't to be taken lightly, and I really don't want to end up like Buzz and Belle. So I figured I just start brainstorming is all."

Serenity sighed, feeling displeased to hear Cypher leaving without her to start the development. He's right about starting as soon as possible, but it doesn't excuse him to leave her behind.

"You're on the right track, and I wish to start planning by all means, but I wished you informed me about it before leaving me behind."

"Why?"

There was a pause, Cypher wholly believed Serenity wouldn't have cared if he we're to do all the work, but that wasn't the case at all. At the first glimpse of his sea-blue colored eyes raised from the screen of his cell phone, Serenity took the advantage to truly speak with his attention on the table.

"This is a mission to which we were both assigned to complete. I couldn't possibly stand by if you were to do all the work. Please, let me help you."

That made Cypher set his phone down, keeping his eye contact with Serenity, before slowly lowering his own sight onto the table himself.

"Well... okay."

The awkward silence began to drown the two, this time having both the adults in the break-room fully aware of it. Now Serenity worried if she might have said a bit too much, catching the sight of Cypher being thrown off. She immediately apologizes right after taking a deep breath, excusing herself before leaving the break-room.

"I... think we should pick this up." Serenity concludes, wishing to start fresh tomorrow. "Anywhere you'd like to meet up until then?"

Cypher also stood up, preparing to leave the break-room before scooping up Ducklett with his hands.

"... Ula'Ula Beach?"

The place to meet back up was all that he said, still uncertain to feel about Serenity's earnest plea. With that in mind, the two wished each other a nice farewell before leaving separate directions.

***

The rest of the day after the meeting may have ended on such an awkward note, but Serenity believed that the second gathering couldn't get any worse. Nowhere to go but the top she kept thinking when the next morning arrived. She took a bus towards Ula'Ula Beach, where tourists and locals began to crowd the lovely shore. Lots of colored towels and parasols spread out, as lots of people and Pokémon played on the sand and water. Serenity may have prepared herself for the unbearable hot weather with the appropriate apparel and an extra layer of sunscreen, but the fan she packed was barely enough to maintain a cool temperature. Even under the shade, she couldn't help but fan herself from the sun's oh-so deadly rays.

"My goodness..."

She sighed to herself, trying to navigate herself among the moving masses of individuals, friends, and families who want to enjoy a day at the beach. There was no way she could possibly spot Cypher within a literal ocean of people, but before she lost her thinning hope, she questioned if he was currently catching a wave far off of the shore. She couldn't tell where she stood, and it wasn't the best idea to swim towards the growing waves to find out.

"... On second thought. Maybe I should take a break."

Serenity sighed as she made her way towards the bar not too far from the water. The beach itself may have been packed itself, but seating at the tiki bar wasn't as full as she may have expected. Which was great news to the woman, now she could quench her growing thirst before she ended up burning into a crisp. She ordered a lemonade, the rush of a cool beverage really did hit the spot. The best part wasn't even cooling down in the shade, she turned around to a familiar voice calling out to her.

"Hello, Serenity."

There stood Cypher, standing with his own beverage in his right hand and his left tucked in his pocket of his shorts. He sat on the open seat right next to her without following anything up after his greetings.

"O-oh! Cypher! I-I was just looking for you!" She tried to clear up, honestly being a little bit startled without any signs of his approach. She nearly spilled her own drink because of it, but managed to prevent an accident. "There are SO many people here, I was having such a hard time trying to find you..." She continued her explanation while briskly fanning herself as she turned slightly red of embarrassment.

"It's fine. What matters is that I found you."

Cypher said, literally shrugging off the apology Serenity stuttered to set up. She took a refreshing deep breath, still fanning herself from the hot weather. Serenity nodded in slight embarrassment, hiding away her reddening face with the fan she was rapidly using a second ago. She took a sip out of her beverage before setting aside her fan and look back towards Cypher. She was prepared to resume going over the mission details, thinking Cypher would want to do so to dismiss the meeting as soon as possible.

"So then, shall we discuss the-"

Serenity was cut off once again by the man with a question he currently had on his mind. Despite the consent act of being cut off when speaking, she wasn't upset whenever it occurred. That reason and the fact Cypher doesn't speak as much as her co-workers draws her attention to the point where she's fine with it.

"I'm sorry," He apologized out of the blue without making any attempt to create eye contact with the woman. One quick glance up noticed Serenity clearly didn't understand what or why he was apologizing, so he resumed. "About yesterday. I shouldn't have been so rude to you yesterday. You wanted to help and I assumed I was responsible for handling the details to our plan."

Cypher remained quiet, just as much as an ordinary day back in the office. The woman wasn't expecting any apology to begin with, but was glad to hear they were beginning to be on the same page.

"No, no. Please don't dwell on such a silly misunderstanding," Serenity cleared up, noticing that Cypher's face read that there's something he'd like to ask, but either doesn't know how to put it in words or if he kept it to himself on purpose. "I-is there something on your mind?"

Cypher lifted his head off his resting hand, looking into Serenity's pretty eyes, just as unsure as he was yesterday.

"Why are you being so nice to me?"

There was another break of silence, neither admin spoke a word. Cypher glanced down at his drink, feeling the need to clear himself to her. He didn't speak right away however, neither did Serenity. Both remained silent for their own personal reasons. Cypher kept quiet because he felt like his question was extremely blunt and rude, darting his eyes down on the counter of the tiki bar. While Serenity was left confused, as if it was one of the strangest questions she's been asked. She wasn't upset or anything, but she can't say she's been ever asked on why she is so kind to anyone before. Did she hear that right? She had to ask.

"E-excuse me?.."

"I didn't mean that as an insult. The thing is... I wasn't expecting you to go out of your way to help me with the mission. I get that your nice to everyone in general and all, but... it really shows here."

Cypher sighed, letting out what was on his mind about what took place yesterday. Serenity tilted her head in concern rather than confusion. The last of his words echoed through her mind, "it REALLY shows here". Letting it sink in, she questioned herself if she may have come out as overwhelmingly kind. She felt a bit bad for how much she persisted on helping, even feeling like he's forcing him to agree.

"I-is that so?... I-I'm so sorry..." She looked down, fiddling the tip of her finger on the end of her straw. She hesitated to speak why she has such a high desire to help him but done so for the sake of clearing the awkward air between the two. "I-I didn't mean to come out as clingy or anything, but... Umm... I was concerned about you, about yesterday..."

"Why?"

Cypher asked, which Serenity choked on her own words, trying to force what she wants to say after bringing up the topic of yesterday. She was able to answer his question, even if she looked like she was about to look away, heavily wishing not to see the twisted face of the man.

"Well... when OZone informed us that we'll be the ones tasked to take the generator, you... didn't seem... bothered by it one bit."

There was another pause, this time, Cypher looked at her with a confused expression, wondering if that was really what was on her mind or if she possible sugarcoated the actual issue.

"... Am I supposed to be?"

He asked, genuinely confused on how he was supposed to feel about being selected to do his job. Serenity couldn't help but ask about how he did feel if he wasn't shaken up in the slightest.

"Well, in my personal opinion, yes. We've been ordered to with a task to steal on the open sea. I felt like my heart was about to burst when I heard my name yesterday. I crossed my fingers we wouldn't need to go down the path similar to what happened on the Unnamed Island. How, how do you exactly feel about all of this?"

All that the woman got back in response was a shrug from Cypher. Not that he didn't know how he felt about the previous and current robbery that have taken place, but he didn't really feel anything about it. The unimpressed frown on his face hadn't move.

"Not much. I mean, I realize this is wrong, but as long as I'm being paid well, I'll follow OZone's orders."

Deep down, Serenity could feel her jaw drop through an image in her mind. Was money seriously his biggest priority and concern? Through some thinning hope, Serenity hoped deep down he was just joking, but even she knew Cypher wasn't the most humerus person she knew.

"Cypher... You can't be serious," Serenity sighed, looking at him like he's some major lost cause. "How-how could you say something so selfish?.. Cypher, we harmed people and stole their possessions, but all you can think about is a generous paycheck?..."

The woman wasn't upset, but she wasn't taking Cypher's brutally honest motivation well at all.

"I refuse to think your whole view is of all of this is blinded by your hope become rich through theft and the harm of others, I-I just can't!"

"I'm not."

Cypher bluntly responded. When Serenity asked what he was talking about, to which he responds with a sigh.

"Who said I was getting rich? I'm just trying to get by."

He said. Serenity paused, taking a moment to settle down from her reaction of what she took Cypher was personally aiming for. He didn't seem pleased after sharing his defense on the matter, and looked away from the girl.

"Look, I'm not some brain-dead psychopath who gets pleasure out of harming others. I'm just an ordinary man trying to make a living."

The way Cypher put his words together tried to make it sound like he didn't have much money, which confused Serenity. If she recalled a while back on the mission to capture UB-Assembly, Cypher explained how he was able to move from Unova to Alola by winning the lottery. If that was try, how could he be struggling?

"I-Is that so? If I may ask, you aren't financially struggling by any chance, are you?"

"Not anymore."

Cypher sighed before taking a swig out of his beverage, ordering another one from the bartender, leaving Serenity to let his answer sink in.

"Oh my... I'm so sorry, I didn't think you'd need to worry about money ever since you moved here..."

Serenity said, slightly sinking in her seat when Cypher asked what she was talking about. Upon mentioning the subject of him winning the lottery clicked in his mind. He turned back to the lady and groaned.

"Oh, that," He continued. "Yes, it's true that I won, I figured I'd be set for life. Leaving my dead-end job and moving to the place I dreamed of as a child. All the moving shit and paperwork was all expensive on its own, but living here drained the money I won in about a year."

Upon hearing his savings depleting, Serenity couldn't help but look down to such an unfortunate time for him. The worst part is that he had more to say.

"I was on the brink of eviction from my lousy apartment. I certainly didn't have the money to move back to Unova, I assumed the worst for me. The landlord didn't give a shit that I was about to be tossed on the street, all he wanted was the money I owe. I tried finding a job to pay rent, but no one would hire me."

Cypher continues to go off. The more he opened up to Serenity, the worse she felt for accusing him of being selfish and greedy. It's not like he was lying about his financial crisis, since he's known for being painfully honest.

"I was desperate, but I wasn't going to beg on my knees for spare change either. I was close to accepting that the eviction was inevitable. Nobody cared what I was going through, what I had to say, nor how I was feeling at the time."

The man intended on continuing his point, but the gentle touch of Serenity's hand with a lighten expression on her face pleased him not too. She sighed before letting go.

"I-I had no idea..." She drowned her own voice before clasping her hands together begging to be forgiven. "I'm SO sorry! I didn't mean to bust you with all my significantly rude mannerisms. If I had thought about your side of the story, I wouldn't said such daunting things!"

Opening her eyes after clenching them tight, Cypher shrugged off her apology just like the first time he did.

"It's fine. I don't take consideration on what people think about me anymore, nor dwell on what I think of others anymore."

"I... don't think you should go as far as to block others out like that," Serenity said, grabbing Cypher's attention on her odd suggestion. "It's great to be independent, but I don't ever want you to think that you may be on your own for anything. If I may speak, I believe you having no one at the time to turn to is the reason why you choose to be alone."

Cypher was about to speak up, but didn't quite know on what to say on that.

"I... don't think so? What makes you say that?"

When the man asked her where did she come up with her opinion, Serenity put her drink on the bar's counter top, where she fumbled her thumbs on her lap before looking up to Cypher with an honest look in her eyes, one hoping he would listen.

"I-I say that because I can relate being alone in my life... U-under different circumstances of course," Serenity continued, "When-When I was a little girl, I lost my parents in a horrible fire. I went to live with my grandparents, sure they were supportive... but I missed my family so much... I didn't understand on why I was spared and they weren't... One day, I decided that I will join them."

Now, Cypher's heard of Serenity's past, admitting to feel bad the first time he heard it. He didn't say a word however, he let Serenity finish her statement she wanted to make clear.

"Before I chose a path that I couldn't turn back from, I was saved by a man, OZone. He told me what I was going to do was something that should never be considered. He escorted me back to my grandparent's house. To this day, I'm still grateful to be alive. One day, one moment changed my whole perspective because someone was there for my when I least expected it..."

The woman gently sighed before looking up to Cypher. He understood where Serenity was going with mentioning her past, but there was something about her story that seemed... "off" to him. It was a very touchy subject to Serenity for good reasons, but he asked a question in regards about OZone that day.

"... Serenity, do you remember what happened afterwards?"

Cypher made sure to choose his words very carefully before speaking. Serenity explained that OZone "reassured" her that her choice was never a proper solution, in which brought her to tears. Cypher paused once again, looking down towards his empty cup and taking a deep breath.

"Serenity... I think you may be taking your situation too lightly here. OZone being upset through what you did is an awful way to handle what happened to you."

Serenity paused through Cypher's opinion on the matter, the woman tried to maintain a calm stature after sharing a very sensitive and personal subject to her. She looked up to him as if he was about to leave her for good, in which she shook her head.

"I-I mean, he wasn't wrong to be upset at me. I did something that I couldn't stand back up from."

Serenity stated, before sighing downwards to her half empty beverage. Cypher firmly shook her head, looking at her with his signature frown.

"Serenity, were talking about life and death here. OZone stopping you was the right move, but he shouldn't have been so upset with you. He should have gone with a respectful and gentle approach. I don't mean to be a duche, but this is just something I picked up on. I don't mean to upset you or anything. Sure, he was on the right track, but yet. He just returned you back to your current home of the time with his business card and then left."

He tried to clear up. Serenity didn't exactly know where he was going with this, but she definitely couldn't help the urge that OZone's actions weren't in the wrong like Cypher says he is.

"I-I'm sorry, Cypher. I can't say I agree with you. What mattered the most is that he helped me in my biggest time of need in my entire life, and I-I wish I could be there for you. When you need it most."

Cypher blinked, admitting to be taken a little back at her sudden shift in the discussion. He wasn't sure if she was doing so in an attempt to move on from the subject at hand, or if she really was serious about being there for him.

"...Huh?"

"I mean it, I want to be there not just solely for you, but for Mitsuki, Tony, Molly, Daichi, Rōzu, everyone. I consider you all my friends and I won't allow anyone else to be split apart."

Serenity said. The biggest part that caught Cypher off guard was the fact Serenity used the term "friend" to identify him in. All this time, he believed they were nothing more than just co-workers, which also goes towards the others.

"... You think of me as a friend?"

He asked in which the question more or less slipped out of his mouth. The idea alone of Serenity being considered a friend despite how hollow and unwelcoming he comes off at work made him feel uncertain about himself.

"... I... don't know how to feel about that..." Cypher looked downwards towards his glass, was he supposed bliss, because he didn't feel anything at all. He's so used to being alone, he didn't generally know to respond to her either. "Huh..."

Serenity smiled, she even clapped her hands together with an idea that popped into her mind.

"I propose an offer to you, Cypher! I think you could really brighten your horizons beyond Alola and Unova! After we help OZone achieve his goal, I would like to visit Kanto with you, I would like you to visit my grandparents, if you're okay with that?"

Now Serenity proposed a trip, which at should've been enough for Cypher to fall off his ass onto the sand, but it didn't. To be honest, he kind of liked the idea if he was being honest.

"Well... That's not a bad idea. We'll see when we get through all of this first."

Cypher responded with Serenity agreeing to put the topic on hold before returning back to the big topic on hand. Once the two split up after making some decent progress on the plan, calling it for the night as the two turn separate ways going home. Cypher still wasn't used to the idea of having a friend as kind and determined as Serenity, but it wasn't an awful feeling. Serenity on the other hand, was trying to relax with a nice hot cup of tea, but Cypher's thoughts in regards of OZone clung onto her brain like magnets. Super strong magnets that you'd need UB-Absorption's strength to pull them off. She managed to get it off her mind, but they certainly didn't leave her for good. She told herself that OZone was in the right and Cypher was just... sharing his thoughts on the matter, hoping that would be what makes her stop worrying so much. Several days of ironing out the plan passed, the day of the export carrier was upon them. The two were all set to take off into the ocean and to take that generator successfully.

***

It was a cloudy day to be on the open sea in the Alola region, which was definitely a plus for Cypher and Serenity. Using the same boat which was used to escort them to the Unnamed Island, they were making some decent progress crossing the water.

"The export carrier containing the generator shouldn't be too much farther," The grunt operating the boat informed the two, who was thanked by the woman herself. "I will get as close as I can for you to be carried on board by Alakazam."

The Pokémon nodded, clear of its instructions, almost like Arc with a glare it shared with its owner. Other than that, the ride on the sea was very quiet. Besides the sound of a moving boat, no one bothered to fill the air with any conversation. How could they though? They were about to sneak onboard and steal from an ocean carrier, which was definately easier said than done.

"Are you ready, Cypher?"

Serenity asked, making sure the man wasn't suffering from cold feet. His attention was towards the blurry sight in the distance, it was something massive. It wasn't a Wailord, it was their target. The man took a deep breath, he knew he couldn't turn back now. His heart began to race the closer they approached the slow moving carrier.

"No."

He admitted, but that doesn't mean they weren't taking action as soon as they were close enough to start the mission. He poked his Ducklett on the head to make sure it was ready for the mission too.

"Daaack-??"

"Hush. It's time. Just use Rain Dance Already."

The bird took flight into the air and quacked until the group began to feel some raindrops from above. Cypher pulled out an item which appeared to be a blue crystal with a small rock frozen inside.

"With my Damp Rock, Rain Dance should last us long enough to take that generator and make an effective escape."

Serenity nodded, also joined by a companion of her own, which was a small green Pokémon with a skirt made out of green and yellow leaves.

"Thank you, Cypher. Bellossom and I will put down anyone who stands in our way. With Sleep Powder of course. Right, sweetie?"

"Bell! Belloss!"

She winked, of course having no intention to harm anyone during the mission, which was a slight relief for Cypher. Without any more delay, Alakazam proceed with the mission. The three were lifted off the ground using its immense psychic power, lifting them towards the rails of the ship. Before stepping on board, they scanned of any employees and security guards. No one was seen from where they were looking, so they were lifted on deck.

"The workers must've gone inside to avoid the rain. Everything is going to plan."

Cypher said, he and Serenity carefully sneaked through the layout of containers stacked upon each other, trying to find the one in possession of the generator they're after. They had a few run ins with confused employees and security guards with questions, but were instantly put to sleep by Bellossom. It took them a hot minute until they stumbled the container with the right label they were after.

"Now all that's left is to break it open."

Serenity said, taking a deep breath of her own. She knew doing so would activate an alarm on the carrier to prevent them of escaping with private property. She dug into her pocket, holding a Beast Ball containing the beast she was entrusted with to use.

"UB-Blade..."

She sends out the tiny Ultra Beast, flicking its tiny body in the pouring rain. Cypher and Alakazam stepped back, knowing the dangerous power the beast held.

"Use Sacred Sword and tear down this door!"

Extending its small arms using a white energy, UB-Blade effortlessly slashed open the steel container. The fragments cut of slammed on the ground, which caused the alarm on the ship to go off. Now wasn't the time to behold the mighty power of the Ultra Beast. Alakazam lifted a box containing the generator inside and made a run for it with Serenity and Cypher. They were met with a group of security guards surrounding them, ready to send out their Pokémon if the group chose to resist.

"Stop right there, thieves! Just what do you think you're doing with our generator?? One more move and you'll force us to take you down!"

One of the guards warned the group, but Cypher didn't budge. Instead, he looked up to Ducklett with its next move.

"Ducklett, use Hurricane!"

The duck Pokémon flapped its wings rapidly, creating a gust of wind that began to stir the guards around. The strong current along with the slippery floor caused the guards to lose their balance and even their Pokéballs in their hand.

Serenity and Bellossom nearly lost balance as well, but were kept on their feet thanks to Alakazam's psychic power. The group managed to return to the boat they were escorted on and hit the ocean as soon as they could. They may have taken the generator successfully, but they weren't out of the woods just yet. Or in this case, out of the water. It was now only a matter of time until those police kids showed up ruin everything, so they dashed across the water as fast as they could go.

***

Meanwhile on both Melemele and Akala Island, as soon as the kids heard their communicators buzzing, they knew they were in for another emergency mission of the vile Ultra Beasts. This time, Looker was the one informing them the brief mission details involving the ocean carrier.

"Attention! Calling all International Junior Police! We just gotten word of a robbery out on the sea taking place on an ocean carrier! The target couldn't have gone far! The ship is to west of Ula'Ula Island, get your equipment and report to the nearest police station for your ride Pokémon immediately!"

Taking flight in the cloudy sky, everyone eventually gathered up, looking like a pretty sweet elite of jets as seen in the movies.

"Heh, look at us all! We look like we're going into a battle with a giant ship in the sky!"

Scales chuckled, Acerola giggled at his personal thought.

"Yeah! I can see where you're with that!"

She responded, but was immediately cut off by Iridio.

"Let's not forget why we're up here in the first place!"

The boy said to bring everyone back into focus. Suddenly Bob spoke up, sharing a bit of concern he had on his mind.

"Hey guys, I don't mean to sound so down here, but are we even going to be able to catch these guys before it's too late? Our ride Pokémon are super fast and all, but wouldn't trying to find these guys on the open ocean be like trying to find a needle in the haystack?"

Several of the other children nodded individually, considering the ocean itself streched across as far as the eye could see. Ash raised his hand, wishing to speak of a suggestion.

"I got an idea! We should spilt into two groups, that way we could cover more ground!"

Mallow nodded, fully in agreement to split directions. Sophocles on the other hand couldn't help but chuckle.

"Sorry, Ash, but you're geographically incorrect. We're covering the water, not the ground below!"

The brainiest of the junior police let out a laugh, making Ash pout for correcting him. Needless to say, Len asked the boys to stay on track with the mission. With an odd number making up the group of children, one group will get an extra member once split apart. The first group consists of Ash, Saki, Hau, Len, Lillie, Iridio, and Acerola. This group has decided to go search the northeast direction of Ula'Ula Island's sea where the ocean carrier is located. While Bob, Mallow, Lana, Kiawe, Sophocles, and Scales will search the southeast of Ula'Ula just in case if the crooks managed to gain any distance from the location of the heist.

"Let us know if you find them, and we'll come in to help!"

Ash said, waving as the two groups split up.

"Show them what for if you come across them!"

Acerola also waved before splitting up.

"Good luck to you guys!"

Hau waved just as energetically as Ash and Acerola, but Saki was a different story.

"Don't harm yourselves if you find them yourselves."

"We'll be on our way in case you guys manage to find them. Be prepared in case if we find them first."

Iridio informed without gesturing any hand waving.

"Be careful, guys. The Ultra Beast we fought last time was no joke, who knows what this one will be like."

Len said, raising a small hand in farewell before joining his group. Lillie didn't speak at first, but she looked up to the other group with an agreeing nod.

"Please do be careful."

She said, now the group have successfully split into two groups to cover as much ground as possible. Kiawe took the lead of the second group, as the rest followed behind him.

"Let's keep our guard up and press on!"

Kiawe said, raising a fist in the air looking like he may be pumped up for the mission. That's how it looked to the other boys of the group, but there was no time to think. The second group flew across the sky to find the boat with a stolen generator.

Putting some decent distance from the ocean carrier, Serenity managed to calm her tenses after the run in of surrounding security guards. Cypher didn't really seem all that phased after such an intense escape. He was especially glad that it was all now behind him.

"You seemed relieved that its all over now."

Cypher said, checking out the way she was taking deep breaths ever since they put some distance safe enough for the coast to be clear.

"I-I sure am, I thought for sure those guards would've gotten the best of us."

She giggled, accepting the fact that she is more than relieved to be out of harms way. There doesn't seem to be any incoming ships tailing them nor any signs of the police children anywhere. If someone were to find them however, Cypher doesn't intend to hold back regardless of who it was.

"Don't forget, you have your Ultra Beast with you. As do I. In case if that does happen again under different circumstances, we might just have to use them. As a last resort."

The man stared upon the vast open sea, the sight of Ula'Ula island was near. He Glanced at Serenity, who seemed to be staring at the cloudy sky as if she was trying to read a banner that's connected to a moving blimp. Something was off just when Cypher looked up himself. He could see several figures above, zooming through the air. At first glance, he mistaken the figures above for bird Pokémon, but when they started to descend towards the sea, he knew who they were.

"Shit, it's those damn kids. They're onto us!"

Cypher said, his teeth clenched in anger to truly think that they may have been really in the clear. Serenity gulped, ready to engage in battle to drive those kids away.

"We can't let them take out generator! Cypher, let's team up and-"

Cypher stopped her from finishing her sentence by grabbing her shoulders with a serious look on his face.

"Listen, Serenity. You may not like where I'm going with this, but I need you hear me out," He said. Serenity wanting to ask what he was up to, but he wouldn't be ignored. "If those kids manage to follow us to Cosmos Corporation, it'll be the end for us. I need you to guard the generator back to its destination."

Serenity really didn't like where he was going with this, but it was exactly what she feared when she asked what he intended to do during all of this.

"I'll fend off those kids. I don't intend to lose."

As soon as Cypher said that, she refused to go with his plan, pleading to let her fight the kids along with him. Cypher was dead-set on facing them on his own, and he did so by sending out his Empoleon. Serenity gripped his arm, her last hope to change his mind from going alone.

"Y-you can't go out there by yourself! Don't you remember what I said back on Ula'Ula Beach?! If you were to go alone, you'll end up like Buzz! A-And Belle! Please let me join you and fight!"

There was a short pause, before Cypher stared at her with his sea-blue eyes.

"I remember, but if they follow us back, it'll be over for all of us. It's either me or Cosmos Corporation."

Suddenly, Cypher commanded his Ducklett to use Rain Dance once more, creating another batch of pouring rain in the matter of seconds. While the man was able to remove Serenity's grip from his arm, he didn't let go of hers.

"I won't lose, Serenity. I'll return back sometime tonight. I won't sink to the Abyss, I can't. After all, we were just planning to visit the Kanto region weren't we? Let's start planning ahead, as friends."

Cypher grinned for the second time, at least as far a Serenity kept count of. From there, Cypher climbed onto Empoleon and took a dive out into the sea. As soon as his head was above the water, he went straight for the offensive assault.

"Ducklett, Hurricane! Empoleon, Hydro Pump!"

Two powerful moves that also benefit from the pouring rain hits the group of children, taking a massive hit all together.

"Gah!! Whoever our target is, he's nuts!"

Bob held onto his ride Pokémon Tropius as it struggled to maintain its flight posture from the cycling wind current. The same case went for the Pokémon carrying Mallow, Lana, Sophocles, and Scales. Kiawe on the other hand suffered worse than the others with his Charizard blasted with a high-powered water blast from below.

"Kiawe, that look like it hurt! Are you okay?!"

Mallow asked during the hot pursuit on the man and his Empoleon making a dash on the water towards the beach.

"I'm fine! Charizard doesn't go down so easily even after a Hydro Pump! We can't lose him, stay strong!"

The man hopped off of his Pokémon as soon as they hit the sand on Ula'Ula Beach. The kids managed to arrive shortly after him, the scene was intense. No one seemed to back down.

"Do you have any idea how dangerous your stunt was back there?" Bob asked, pretty steamed after a near possibility of crashing into the ocean of his ride Pokémon lost control. "You could've really hurt someone! Besides technically already hurting Kiawe and his-"

"Deal with it."

Cypher cut Bob off, in which he was not expecting. His mind went blank afterwards, and Kiawe ended up taking the lead.

"Look, we don't want to fight you, nor should we have to. If you would please come with us, we'll make it easier for you to co-"

"Deal with it."

Cypher said again, this time reaching his pocket for the Pokéball in the strange futuristic design such as the last UB-user had. Sophocles and Scales looked at each other before eyeing what Cypher was doing.

"What's your deal? Why won't you let us-"

"Deal with it."

He said for the third time in a row. Now if anyone was fed up with the rudeness of this guy, it was Lana. Bob knew what was starting to come up, she took a step forward and spoke.

"That's enough. No more cutting off my friends and my boyfriend. We're going to ask one more time for you to come with us or else."

From there, Cypher didn't say a word, instead, he sent out his Ultra Beast containing of lots of individual brick-like beings all stacked upon each other to create a rather bizarre creature.

"Staaaaaaaaa-"

The creature known as UB-Assembly mumbled, as Cypher took a few steps back keeping his arms crossed.

"Or else what?"

Cypher asked, but Lana stood tall despite being in the presense of their tallest Ultra Beast yet, but neither she nor Popplio backed down, an ironic fire blazed in her eyes and she yelled high and mighty.

"I'm going to tear down that wall!"

Lana and here Popplio were ready to go, the rest of the guys sent out their Pokémon. Bob sent out his Hariyama, Kiawe chose Marowak, and Scales sent out his Charjabug. Sophocles even pitched in with Togademaru out with the rest of the group. The only one who didn't join in was Mallow because she was currently tending the wound Kiawe's Charizard took from the previous Hydro Pump.

"Big mistake. Empoleon, Hydro Pump again."

The group of Pokémon managed to avoid the blast of water. The group spread out in attempt to overwhelm Cypher's Pokémon. Lana targeted UB-Assembly as Bob joined her for support.

"Okay, Popplio! Use Bubble Beam!"

"You go Lana! Now it's my turn! Hariyama, use Arm Thrust!"

"Protect."

Cypher called out, the large UB created a force-field to protect it from the incoming attacks. This caused both Pokémon to be pushed back. The results of the rest against Empoleon was rather a different story.

"Alright, Marowak! Use Bonemerang!"

Kiawe called out.

"Charjabug, use Thunderbolt!"

Scales commanded.

"Let's go for a Zig-Zap, Togademaru!"

Sophocles pointed out. The large penguin Pokémon may have avoided the bone that was hurled over at him, but was struck by a speedy Zig-Zap, followed by a crushing Thunderbolt. The Pokémon stood, knowing it can still fight, but before it was expecting an order from its trainer, Cypher immediately returned it back into its Pokéball.

"Assembly, Earthquake."

With the pound of its front legs using extreme force, the ground below began to shake and erupt from below. It was a powerful hit for the Pokémon belonging to the children. Togademaru was out cold due to the awful weakness it had for Ground-Type attacks. The rest stood back up. making another attempt to land any attacks.

"Don't let that pile of Legos get the best of you, Charjabug! Use Dig now!"

The cube-like worm burrowed its way into the sand, sneaking its way towards the large beast from below.

"One more time, Popplio! Use Bubble Beam!"

"Hariyama, let's go for a Knock Off!"

"Marowak, use Shadow Bone!"

Unfortunately for the kids, Cypher ordered UB-Assembly to use Protect, all attempts to harm the beast failed just like before.

"Damn it! That Ultra Beast really knows how to take a hit and return one."

Bob said, trying to concentrate on the battle, but the pouring rain may have put him on the side.

"Any bright ideas, anyone? Sophocles?"

Lana poked her head towards the other two boy who were able to continue on. Bob turned his head in response.

"I do actually. I'm going to use All-Out Pummeling, whatever that thing is shouldn't be able to fully protect itself from a Z-Move."

Lana and Kiawe nodded, now aiming to plug in his Fightium-Z, Bob activated his Z-Power Ring to unleash his devastating attack.

"Yeah! You're in for it now! Let's see you block All-Out Pummeling!!"

Now all charged up, Hariyama unleashed barrage of fists in which UB-Assembly attempted to protect itself from, but couldn't block all of the incoming strikes. The beast nearly lost its balance from the overwhelming attack and also due to Charjabug coming out of the ground striking for additional damage. The tilting of the beast revealed what was inside the the sturdy walls of the beast. To their surprise, there wasn't anything to be found, which gave Lana an idea.

"I got it! Instead of attacking the wall on the outside, we have to aim for its inside!"

Now with a plan fresh in their minds, it was time to get back on the battlefield. Popplio and Marowak dashed towards the large beast, Cypher calls out for its next move.

"Keep them away, use Rock Slide."

Now summoning rocks from above to crash down below, Popplio and Marowak managed to avoid the falling boulders and reached the beast. One more Bubble Beam and Bonemerang did some pretty massive damage compared to if they were to hit the outside of the beast.

"Now were getting somewhere! Hariyama, finish with an Arm Thrust!"

Upon striking the leg of the beast, it finally tumbled down and crashed like an old building set to be destroyed. Upon seeing his defeated Ultra Beast, Cypher didn't say a single word. Instead, he returned it back into the Beast Ball. He no longer felt any more raindrops from above. In fact, he felt the comfort of Alola's sun light beginning to clear up the clouds.

"... I lost..."

Cypher said to himself, not upset or collapsing on the ground himself, but he felt a cold sense of losing not only the battle. His freedom and friends back at Cosmos Corporation, especially won't be seeing Serenity for a long while now, or ever. He looked up, the last glimpse of the sky before he was sent off to jail.

"Told you, you should've just come with us."

Lana said, catching a glimpse of the others returning to the scene. From there, the Ula'Ula Police Department escorted Cypher to jail, where he is to be joining both Buzz and Belle in the dark depth hellhole known as the Abyss.

***

It was 9 o'clock within the meeting room of Cosmos Corporation. Serenity sat under the light that illuminated the whole room. She was joined by OZone and Ducklett, who managed to fly away back towards to base before it could have been captured as well.

"I'm sorry, OZone... I'm so sorry..."

The woman apologized to her boss, who softly scratched the belly of his Pikachu. He didn't seem bothered by the matter, so he shook his head and told her not to be so hard on yourself.

"There's no need to be so harsh on yourself. It was Cypher's choice to take on those children. You also retrieved our objective to take that generator."

He stood up, cradling his Pokémon like an infant as he stood up.

"I'm proud of you if anything. Let's make sure his sacrifice for my goal won't go wasted."

He pat Serenity's back to cheer her up, which did work only a little bit. The woman took Ducklett home in the decision to temporary look after it for the meantime. OZone locked up the meaning room after Serenity took the elevator down to ground floor, leaving a grin on his face. Not too big, not too small, but just a satisfied grin.
