Chapter 81: Into The Swarm
"Good morning, everyone."
OZone walked into a conference room full of silence. The noticeable vibe of his admins wasn't present, nothing but a eyes staring at him, possibly through him. Everyone one of them knew damn why they were attending this meeting in the first place, to find out what was left to secure for the ID3I. No one but Arc wanted to be present, no one but Arc were willing to put their life on the line for a second time, and no one but Arc were willing to harm innocent people and Pokémon once more. Yet, they still show up regardless of the current stakes and conditions for their own reasons. As much as the boss wanted to life the somber hollow room back to its lively self, OZone knew deep down he couldn't achieve that with the details of the mission projected on the screen upfront. What he could do is to remove the band-aid as fast as he could, to get the details out of the way so they aren't kept in such a sickly place.
"As you may know, there are only a handful of missing elements needed to conduct our final step in our mission," Speaking how the entire mission they've been working so hard on could possibly be near its end lightened the mood a little bit. For a second, it felt like OZone was on the right track to restore the reassurance back to everyone. "Needless to stress, we need to continue headstrong until we reach that point. For the meantime, we need to intercept a special delivery."
Stepping aside, he used the remote of the projector to pull up a photo of a big suitcase containing several capsules holding a strange substance.
"What might that be, OZone?"
Serenity tilted her head, the man answers her question which brought a chill to the group, uncertain how to respond back.
"That, Serenity, is a radioactive serum that originates in the Unova reason. Its use here specifically is kept classified, but the matter here is to retrieve it for ourselves."
Whatever reassurance and hope OZone attempted to gather up faded in front of his very eyes, seeing the group with nothing but a look of concern in their eyes.
"You-you want us to retrieve a suitcase containing something radioactive?!"
Daichi eventually blurted out, his attempt to stay below the radar to avoid possibly being chosen for the mission failed after finding out what were they specifically after. Rōzu padded his back, before Daichi's lone voice could fill the silent room any further, before feeling like he had the need to clear things up.
"O-OZone... You, you really aren't considering us to break into some kind of nuclear power plant, are we?..."
The boy asked the man in front of the projector, he wanted to speak, but nothing came out. He wanted to resume the details of the mission to clarify what needed to be done, but all he did end up doing was just standing there in one place. He could feel sweat running down from the side of his forehead toward where his jaw was located, he had an urge to wipe with his arm, but remained in his original posture.
"No, Rōzu. The main objective is to take the source from the vehicle its secured in."
OZone took a deep breath in while Arc scuffed at the two boys. The glare that he's known to wear returned, with something that was needed to be heard.
"Its the same damn issues with you two. Why do you both always have to either question OZone's orders and assume the best and worst when he isn't even finish explaining the details of our mission?"
For a second, it sounded like Arc was going to raise his voice after Daichi and Rōzu simply ignored the man's question, and things were going to get as noisy when it comes to an ordinary meeting. Suddenly, the man was cut off by Belle, who clearly wasn't in the mood for any senseless yelling.
"Just leave them alone, Arc," She sighed annoyingly. "I'm not in the mood for any yelling today, I have a headache. Can we please resume with the meeting?"
She asked directly to OZone, since he was the one hosting the meeting. He nodded, sticking with his plan to finish the details as fast as he could to dismiss everyone for the day.
"Yes. Allow me to cut to the case," OZone said while changing the slides to a projection of a map, specifically a route of the course the vehicle will be taking towards its destination. "Once leaving Hau'Oli City, the route requires a turn that leads to the forest-"
While the boss explained the rest of the specific directions of the route, Buzz payed close attention to the map, almost as if he was trying to shoot lasers out of his eyes.
"Hmm..."
The forest felt awfully familiar to the Bug-Type enthusiast, almost as if he's been there himself. He asked himself if he has in fact visited the same road before out on a trip to study Grubbin in its natural habitat. Before he knew it, he pulled out his phone for a quick search search just in case. This caused Mistuki and Tony to peek at what he's up to.
"Is everything okay, Buzz?"
Mitsuki whispered, so she wouldn't interrupt OZone. Tony more or less poked his eye downward at Buzz's phone, understanding what he was aiming for.
"Checking to see if the road leading to the forest rings any bells?"
"Yes, check this out." Buzz nods, before closing the web browser to show a photo he's taken of a group of Grubbin digging inside the dirt road and all over the trees. "If you look here, you can see them scrapping the tree's bark with its big mandibles for its sap."
Mitsuki, from a photo perspective, found the small bug Pokémon cute, so did Tony, even if he didn't come around to say it out loud. To their surprise, after putting his phone away, Buzz raised his hand right after OZone wrapped up the slides. What he said caught everyone off guard, especially by how cool he was with his proposal.
"Sir, I believe I could intercept the serum without raising suspicion."
Buzz sat back down, now all the attention brought down on him, for the most part with surprise and curiosity. OZone however wasn't in awe or shock, but curious of what Buzz was brainstorming.
"I recognize the route that will lead into the woods. It shouldn't be too hard to create a seemingly natural roadblock. With the help of my Bug Pokémon, I'll put the guards to sleep with a Sleep Powder, and the serum is as good as ours."
The idea actually sounded good to everyone, as long as he doesn't plan to put himself in harms way. If it does work in his favor, he really would be robbing them blind.
"Huh, never thought I'd see the day Buzz's obsession will actually be put to use."
Cypher said, which was probably the nicest thing he said about the scrawny man's studies of Bug Pokémon. In fact, Arc was pleased to hear Buzz's plan.
"I second, Cypher. I'm impressed by your plan to swipe the targets without being seen. I do hope you return with the best of results, Buzz."
Buzz nods, Molly actually surprised to hear Arc wishing the man luck after believing the man was filled with nothing but hatred.
"Oh sure..."
Molly muttered to herself under her breath so Arc wouldn't catch what she said before OZone dismissed his admins to stay below the radar. Everyone stood up from their seat, Buzz smiled after OZone wished him luck before departing.
"If you're certain you can take on the mission, I'll leave that responsibility to you. We're all counting on you and wish you the best of luck."
"Thank you, sir. I won't let any of you down."
It was no less than two days ever since the latest meeting in which Buzz solemnly chose to partake alone. He seems confident in himself that his plan will run as smooth as he pitched it, but needed to prepare before the big heist. It shouldn't take too much time to properly set up as the delivery wasn't until several days, all he really needed were his Bug Pokémon all in the correct positions before snaring the suitcase containing radioactive products. If all else fails with his back pushed against the wall by any possible threats, he won't hesitate to use UB-Absorption. However, he feared a growing worry if he were to use such a horrific extraterrestrial life-form against others, worried if he could indeterminately injure anyone or Pokémon that attempts to stop him. All he could do to comprehend the thought was to hope the mere sight of the red beast would cause those to flee in panic, but the day soon approached. Putting him to the test real soon.
***
Returning to the peaceful island of Melemele, the bell of the Pokémon school rung, signaling everyone's dismissal.
"Alright, class. That concludes another day focusing on type immunity. Have a nice weekend, everyone."
Professor Kukui said while waving to the children already walking out the door. Ash returned the wave with his own, with Pikachu and Rotomdex tagging alongside with him.
"Bye, Professor Kukui! See you back at your place!"
Ash said before catching up with the departing group of friends who more or less left him behind on school grounds.
"Heyyy! Wait up! Guys! Why are you leaving me-WAH!"
He said before he ended up tripping onto his face on a crack in the ground, which caused the group to turn back and help him up.
"O-oh! Ash! You really need to watch your step! Are you okay?"
Lillie asked, managing to approach him before any of the others did. Ash played off a chuckle, before taking Kiawe's hand to get back up on his feet. He seemed totally fine from the impact, not a single bruise spotted on Ash's rather rugged forehead or non-pinch-able cheeks of his.
"No need to worry, I'm fine."
Ash said, before the group resumed walking back on the trail back home. It was a peaceful day on Melemele, not as sizzling hot as most days are and some clouds were set above. The group went back and forth talking about the day and what was coming up in the future. The weather was just right for a hike on a mountain trail or even a simple stroll in the park, which begs a question in Mallow's head for the upcoming weekend. She stopped, which made everyone stop as well, except Bob caught off guard by his Dartix pecking its own feathers.
"So... guys. Do any of you have plans tomorrow?"
The girl asked, receiving a few different answers from the group, but no one had anything too important to complete over the entire weekend such as training for upcoming trials. Saki, who didn't have any interest to drop her free time from school to immediately train knew what was up. She felt like she knew Mallow was considering an activity or an event that involved the group, which she even asked about it.
"Nothing really comes to mind, but I'm guessing that's where you come in?"
Mallow nodded to Saki's question, in which she slowly narrowed her sight towards the west, the direction of the road that leads deep into Melemele's forest.
"That's right! I was thinking its been a long while since we've got to hang out together because of training or helping around with others. So I thought I might propose a spark!" She placed one hand on her hip, while pointing her other high into the air. Her Steenee copied her pose, adding a cute little twirl that caught everyone's attention. "A spark of a new day, a spark that marks a new period in our lives, a celebratory spark!"
She proudly declared, and the best part was that she sounded super convincing. Bob was kinda lost on where she was going with her idea, but he liked the idea of a friend gathering.
"Count me, in! What do you have in mind?"
It didn't take her that long to replay, the idea was set towards the direction she's currently so focused on.
"Let's all spend the night on a trip in the woods!"
Everyone was caught off by Mallow's firm suggestion, but she was serious, so there wasn't any point on questioning her a second time.
"I-I don't know, the woods seem so... so..."
Lillie spoke, feeling a slight chill in response of spending any night within the wild. The vision of scary Pokémon made her feel unsure, but suddenly, Kiawe of all people insured Lillie there wasn't to be anything to be afraid of.
"I'm down, Mallow. I enjoy a camping trip every now and again. The forest is full of nice spots to stay the night in. I took my little sister out camping back in Akala." He said, letting go of Lillie's shoulder. "In case of anything, we'll keep you out of harms way."
Ash nods, raising a fist in the air on board with the trip.
"I say I'm all in for it! Can't say no if Mallows the one cooking!"
Ash being convinced almost by food alone was very much in character, so everyone played off a chuckle so he wouldn't be left hanging. Sophocles also drawn in by the idea of the trip, Mallow's cooking being one of the reasons and the other of not wanting to be left out.
"Me neither! And who knows? Maybe we'll see a SUPER rare Pokémon that the world in its self has NEVER seen! I'll be the first to get it on camera!" He whipped out a camera out of his backpack almost instantly and raised it in the air with a forced laugh. "Just leave the scientific capturing to me!"
He declared, looking to his right to see a slightly frightened Lillie, overthinking the actual possibility of discovering this 'super rare Pokémon that the world in its self has never seen' on their trip. Regardless, she was still looking forward on going.
"With Sophocles, its as good as a done deal!" Lana smiled with Popplio wrapped around her arms, which suddenly wrapped around Bob's hand. "I'm looking very forward for a weekend all together, including you, Bibby Boo."
Bob still wasn't used to the immediate hand holding, but embraced it by gently pressing his grip on hers.
"O-oh yeah, definitely! I could hardly wait!"
Bob faked a hearty laugh, which everyone knew he did to play off his shyness, even as going far as to ask, "any objections?! Speak now or forever hold your piece!" Which only made him cover his face since he's only heard that at wedding ceremonies of all places.
"Oh, Arceus! Help me!"
The boy said to conclude his embarrassment, hearing his friends chuckle at him. Mallow on the other took his word seriously, as raised her arm in the air once more.
"Alright! Since no one disagrees, we'll all spend the day at the woods! pack up only the necessities, and we'll meet up at the Pokémon School! Our fun day awaits!"
"Yeah!"
Everyone shouted, except Saki, who had a fraction of the energy released in the group.
"Let's do it."
***
The very next afternoon brightened the land with its beautiful blue sky above, a blanket of heat warned the people and Pokémon of the Alola region, just like any other day of the year. The Pikipek resting on the tree branches pecked away the bark on the tall sturdy trees as the Yungoos below gathered berries before the sight of the falling horizon. The Pokémon which inhabit Route 2 were only gathering its material the same way their used to, mother nature itself providing their personal source of food to aid their survival. The Grubbin that dwell down below however, were provided honey smeared across the dirt road, but consumed the golden delight no less than a feast.
"Gubb. Gubb. Gub. Gub. Gub."
"Gubb-ubb-ubb-ubb."
"Ubb, ubb, ubb."
The sound of satisfaction intensified as no less than a hundred Grubbin sipped the honey on the ground that stretched across the road to attract the small bugs attention. The lone sight brought Buzz restless joy, watching the slurping Grubbin like a cook observing satisfied costumers with a dish that knocked their socks off.
"So I take it you Grubbin enjoy the honey, yes?"
He legitimately asked, expecting no proper response for the honey provided for the colony of Grubbin. He had to at least use over 20 jars of certified Combee honey to cover a proper portion of the road, but it was all worth it in the end. Buzz stood up from a squatting position and checked the time on his phone, which brought a smile to his face.
"Heh, perfect."
He slipped near an isle of bushes to take cover, expecting the armored van delivering the radioactive goods at any moment. He took the opportunity to send out his Parasect from its Pokéball for his big plan.
"Haha! Its show time!"
The sound of a vehicle in the distance approached the dirt road from the horizon, only to slow down due to the road of Grubbin to halt their travels.
"The hell is this?"
The driver of the delivery stepped out of the van to check out the hold up, being join by the second delivery person in the passenger seat.
"Whaddya know? A whole bunch of little buggers blockin' the road. What do you suggest we do?"
The two workers go back and forth on how they could clear the path without initially harming the Bug Pokémon, but they seemed pretty stumped. That's when Buzz's Parasect sneaked on top of the van and awaited for the signal of its trainer.
"Now!" Buzz loudly whispers, loud enough for Parasect to hear without alarming the delivery workers. "Use Sleep Powder!"
Parasect's massive mushroom that lies on its back shook, spreading a light bluish-green powder towards the two guards. Before they could turn around and discover the Pokémon's attack, they fell asleep in an instant. Buzz clapped, stepping out of the bushes now wearing a gas mask to prevent lingering powder in the air affecting him.
"Excellent work, my friend! Now its time to get down to business!"
He returned Parasect back into its own Pokéball and swapped for Scizor, who was ready for the next phase of the plan. The radioactive serum was locked within the back of the armored vehicle, which Buzz planned to break the doors intact open to obtain it.
"Our desired source is beyond those shut doors, lets tear them apart! Scizor! Metal Claw!"
His metal insect struck the door at dangerous speeds, slashing the back of the van with its hard claws, but the doors remained closed, barely damaged from Scizors speedy strikes.
"O-oh, dear... This isn't good-"
The van delivering his wanted possession deemed tougher than he had wished it was and now faced with a surplus of issues that formed in his mind. The guards sleep could wake up at any moment from the pounding sound of Scizor's attacks. The Grubbin still out in the open could get mixed into the situation if things didn't pick up soon, but the worst surprise out of the two was something not even Buzz was aware of. He looked down his lab-coat pocket, which held his Beast Ball containing his 'last resort', UB-Absorption. He had the urge to send it out to rip open the doors with its unnatural strength, but worried that such commotion could alert the resting workers in an instant.
"... Gah!! The doors more sturdy than I anticipated... I don't want to resort to such drastic measures, but it leaves me with no choice..."
One quick look around the woods to ensure no passerby or witnesses were spotted before he sent out the towering bulging Ultra Beast. However, he was stopped from tossing the Beast Ball after hearing a dim beeping sound. Buzz investigated where the sound was coming from, which was present at the front of the van. The sound was going off from a map next to the dashboard, following by a red flashing light.
"O-Oh no," Buzz shivered from what was now unfolding. After the van taken some hefty blows from Scizor's attack, Buzz unknowingly triggered an alarm sure to attract reinforcements. "Calm down, Buzz, calm down! I need to think this through, just relax and think!.."
The man paced around in circles under lots of pressure to think of his next act before he was surrounded by guards or even police officers. suddenly, he looked back to the two delivery workers under the effects of Parasect's powder and the road block of Grubbin still feeding on the honey.
"I... I think I know what must be done."
Buzz said to himself while sending out his Ultra Beast, UB-Absorption, flexing its massive muscles in the open.
"ZZZZZZZZZZZZ!"
"Alright, UB-Absorption. We don't have much time. We need to get those gentlemen and the van somewhere, ehh... at an 'undisclosed location'."
The giant insect beast nodded, after mindlessly tossing the two workers inside the van like rag-dolls, it lifted the vehicle off the ground all by itself. Buzz couldn't help but clap for Absorption's amazing strength.
"Amazing! You're doing a fine job with this! The Grubbin can finish their sweet helping of honey and we can go someplace else to obtain our source without being pestered!" For a scrawny man, such as Buzz, he cleverly clung himself on one of UB-Absorption's four giant legs. "Fly my muscular friend! Fly! But not too high-."
Slowly taking off, Buzz was airborne in the matter of minutes, now zooming over the trees. It was actually a nice experience to Buzz to see the land and sea in the distance, as if he was freely paragliding in the refreshing breeze. When he completed his objective, he might just have to try this again in the middle of the sea with UB-Absorption, away from anyone to spot them.
***
Since Buzz was too caught up with the gorgeous view of Melemele Island, he failed to notice that he wasn't the only one present within the forest. Down below several acres of land away, was a nice little river. A few tents were set up by none other than the group of kids, a day of fun and relaxation went underway. Bob enjoying a cherry flavored soda pop with Dartix resting on a hanging tree branch with his music speaker playing some soothing tunes. Mallow and Steenee whipping up a big pot of curry that was going to be served for dinner. Lillie couldn't help but to take a nap under the shade of a tree with Snowy, Lucky, and eventually being joined by both Nebby and Bebe, who snoozed long after the blonde did. Saki simply watched Mallow prepare the curry, keeping an eye on a pot steaming the rice.
"You sure you don't need a hand, Mallow?"
She asked, just to be sure her friend didn't have her hands full, but was answered by a firm head shake.
"No, I'm okay, Saki! I'm happy you want to help, but I know the recipe like the back of my hand. You can join the others if you'd like."
Saki quietly winced, looking up to see Ash, Sophocles, Kiawe, and Lana playing Keep Away with an empty soda can on the grass. Bob sure was getting one heck of a show as he slurped his beverage and watched the boys tumble over each other.
"I'm telling you guys, there's NO WAY you can win Keep Away with Lana! She truly is one of a kind!"
Ash, Sophocles, and Kiawe all caught their breaths while Lana chugged down on some fresh water.
"Yup, Bibby Boo's right. I am no less than an expert at party games. Harper and Sarah put me through a lot of training, if you want to be technical of course!"
The girl giggled, before the guys chuckled.
"Heh heh. Nah," Ash perked up, his arms resting behind his head. "This is just the beginning, I'm already ready for the next ro-."
Ash suddenly stopped after peeking up in the sky for a second, seeing what appeared to be a large red figure, a man, and a fucken armored van in the sky before dipping into the land.
"... What the heck?..."
Sophocles more or less also saw a glimpse of the moving figure in the sky, in which he blinked.
"Umm... Are we on something to mess with our vision right now? Because I thought I saw a flying car in the sky..."
Ash looked down and gasped, surprised he isn't the only one who to catch such a bizarre glimpse. Kiawe and Lana looked back at each other, Bob even approached the group, wondering what Ash and Sophocles just saw a second ago.
"A flying car, you say? Both of you?"
Saki asked, also walking towards the group, which made him think just what could he have seen that caused such an obscure image in his mind.
"Could it have been a Pokémon? Only one way to find out!"
Ash dashed towards the direction where he saw the strange figure, Pikachu immediately catching up with him.
"Sorry guys! I'll be back before dinner!"
Bewildered and not at the same time, Sophocles grabbed a camera he packed and followed Ash as best he could.
"Hey, Ash! I wanna catch what you find on camera!"
Kiawe, Lana, and Bob also joined in the matters, wondering what has gotten into the two.
"Ash! Come on! I'm also coming to see what's this all about!"
Kiawe said, running along with Lana and Bob.
"Wait! You got me curious too!"
Bob yelled, having a hard time trying to maintain a steady pace.
"Come on, Bib! Don't fall behind!"
Saki was set back in disgust, telling everyone to come back before trailing them herself.
"Hey-wait! Guys! Dinner's almost done at any moment!"
With everyone gone, Mallow decided to stay back to keep an eye on Lillie, while she resumed making dinner for tonight.
***
"Alright, place the van right here."
Buzz commanded while releasing its leg after UB-Absorption safely lands onto the ground. Buzz lets go of its leg, while the insect lets go of the vehicle carrying the prized possession. Now that the two delivery workers were removed by Buzz, there was nothing holding him back from busting the secured doors open.
"Alright UB-Absorption! Use Mega Punch!"
Just one blow, the doors burst open, the suitcase containing the serum slipped out almost effortlessly by the scientist.
"Ahaha! Mission accomplished! Now we just need to smash this metal tin can into pieces. Tear it to bits with another-"
Before any more orders were given to really seal the deal, Ash and the rest of the group arrived onto the team. At first, nobody said a word. Buzz was silent, the children were as well. UB-Absorption was more than prepared for battle, but Buzz immediately called it off from doing any possible harm.
"I-uhh... Heeeeeey. How-How do you do, fellow kids?.."
Buzz replied, desperate to think of a possible response that wouldn't shake them up or anything. However, due to the specific circumstances, it was proven to be difficult.
"Umm... Hi?"
Lana replied, trying to keep whatever hope there was to maintain a peaceful vibe, until Sophocles took a snapshot of UB-Absorption. Buzz gasped in fear, starting to sweat now that there was photographic evidence of an Ultra Beast caught on camera.
"So THAT'S what was flying over us a second ago! That's a super cool Pokémon you got there! I never seen it before!" Sophocles exclaimed, more in awe rather than unnerved from the towering beast. "I wish Rotomdex was here to scan it for some data."
Ash was downright speechless, wishing Rotomdex wasn't running an errand with Professor Burnet now of all times, but what caught his attention were the two workers still unconscious. Which certainly wasn't good on Buzz's end of the spectrum.
"Wait a minute... What is going on here exactly? Why are those guys on the ground?"
Kiawe asked for an answer, Buzz at this point couldn't respond, he was choking on the lump in his throat, and even if he could, he couldn't spill the beans on his plan. So he had to take even more drastic measures than before. He had to scare the kids off.
"... Look. What I'm doing is none of your business. I really don't like bending people to do my bidding, but I need you to hand over the camera and leave. D-Don't make me ask twice."
Buzz stepped back, UB-Absorption flexed its muscles ready for battle, but Ash wasn't turning down. Pikachu hopped off from his shoulder, prepared to fight the Ultra Beast.
"Not until you tell us what's going on here and what you're after!"
Buzz's arms shook, pointing towards Ash, and commanded it to attack.
"Use, Earthquake..."
With one swing of its fist into the ground, UB-Absorption shatters the ground, causing everyone to tumble down. Pikachu managed to leap in the air to avoid such a devastating move, which made Ash regain his posture.
"You kids are fighting a match you can't win! Turn back now!"
Buzz begged, but Ash wouldn't listen, not after he attempted to harm him or his friends. The battle was on. Pikachu and UB-absorption collided with an Iron Tail and Mega Punch. In terms of strength, Pikachu was far outclassed for its opponents unnatural raw strength.
"Ash! Are you crazy?! You can't fight this battle alone!"
Kiawe sends out Marowak, ready to fight with its large bone aflame. Bob joined in the fray with Dartrix, although he questioned if they could even win a fight against something so bizarre and powerful.
"K-Kiawe's right, you'll need a hand! Or a lot of them!"
If that wasn't enough, Lana joined the party with Popplio. Saki chose Torracat, even if she wasn't sure on the idea of battling either.
"Don't worry, I'll join too!"
Lana said, while Saki prayed she wouldn't die to a scrawny man and his muscular insect.
"... I'm sorry, OZone... Please forgive me. Absorption, Use Lunge."
The large insect leaped into the air, coated in a lime-green energy and targeted the group of Pokémon below.
"Pikachu, Use Thunderbolt before its too late!"
"Use Bonemerang, Marowak!"
"Popplio, Bubble Beam!"
Being struck by three moves all at once may pack a bunch, but managed to land an attack that was just as devastating. Buzz looked away at the intense parts, fighting children and the Pokémon they're raising and caring for, and he's using what's supposed to be the key into helping OZone's missions. Using UB-Absorption was one thing for the mission on the Unnamed Island was one was one thing, but using it on children filled his stomach, mind, and heart in shame. He tried to fight the irksome feeling off of him by commanding it to use Mega Punch, but was beating by Saki and Bob making their move.
"Torracat! Fire Fang!"
"Dartrix, Use Ariel Ace!"
Being struck by some super effective attacks right from the back, Buzzwole stepped back before striking both Pokémon with a Lunge.
"Now's your chance, Togademaru! Strike it with a Nuzzle!"
Sophocles commanded Togedemaru to sneak in and to land an attack that may lack in power, but stunned UB-Absorption from freely moving around too much. Buzz forced himself to snap out of his troubling state by slapping his own face.
"Gah! What am I thinking-?! Arrrgh! Absorption, use Earthquake!"
One more blow to the ground, caused everyone on the ground to be pushed back by the extreme force. However, Buzz forgot that Dartrix wasn't affacted by the attack, so UB-Absorption was struck with an Aerial Ace. Trying to use Mega Punch in return, the beast couldn't move from its paralysis.
"A-Absorption!!"
Suddenly, Buzz felt like he couldn't move, as if his legs could break just by the slightest of movements, but one look up made him fall down on his back. One glance of Ash using his Z-Ring to power up Pikachu, he felt like he was going to legitimately die.
"Is... Is this it?..."
"Okay, Pikachu, let's go! All-Out Pummeling!"
It was all over from there. UB-Absorption couldn't resume, it flexed its muscles one last time before colliding onto the ground in defeat. Buzz returned the beast back into its Beast Ball. He couldn't get up, even to the sounds of approaching police cars arriving onto the scene. He was under arrest for several charges he racked up that day and for being highly wanted.
"I... I failed you... Sir..."
Was all that he could muster, before being escorted into a police car. The Officer Jenny on the scene confiscated the radioactive serum and UB-Absorption's Beast Ball. The sudden arrest of one of the many thieves of the Unnamed Island was big news, meaning there was much to be done now that one of the admins responsible was placed under arrest. Especially needing to reach out to some "important" people about their recent arrest.
"You kids put up a brave face against someone who is currently highly wanted. Thank you, I wish to heal your Pokémon myself, but I must get going immediately. Here, some Full Restores should do the trick. Stay safe out there."
While Jenny and the other police officers cleaned up the mess Buzz have made, the others returned back to the camp sight and enjoyed a nice curry dinner. Ash told the whole story to Mallow and Lillie, which the green haired girl was by surprise to hear about a massive insect beast. Lillie however, wanted to spare herself from the details. She wasn't fully up to hear any specifics about any unusual beings not after her experience involving the mysterious blue monster that nearly consumed her. Despite a shivering reminder, the group spent the rest of the night having a good time as they roasted marshmallows and chatted up the night away.
***
The night may have lit up billions of stars across the sky not limited to the Alola Region, but it was a night of aching somberness for Cosmos Corporation. It all started with OZone trying to get a hold of Buzz by all means, but only to left without any response to speak of. He waited all night for at least a message to inform him that he was doing fine, but still had no notifications to speak of.
Around 2:30 in the morning, OZone was suffering through a sleepless night, so he tried everything in his power possible to find Buzz's whereabouts. Its not like Buzz to simply choose not to inform him of status reports, which is what caught OZone in a state of panic. He checked his home computer late at night to find anything possible, and then there it was.
"What?... No, no, no, no, NO!!"
He slammed his fists on his keyboard multiple times, reading an article titled, "Highly Wanted Criminal Caught In Melemele Forest".
The bad news didn't end there, by the time he was done simply reading the article, he held an emergency meeting right on the spot. One by one, the admins responded to the online call, greeting by a face in which made OZone look like he drank himself into depression.
"... ... ... Everyone. I-Thank you for coming at a highly unreasonable time, but I have some critical news to be shared."
First off, he explained how the mission was deemed a failure, which brought worry to everyone, except for Arc's twisted expression.
"He-he failed?! Even with the power of-"
He was immediately cut by Belle, who was admitting not to be in any mood for Arc to down talk on anyone.
"Shut up, Arc! Wha-what happened to Buzz?"
Belle asked, but OZone didn't have an answer. He knew what it was, but reading where he was place in under short time was something the boss was not ready to answer just yet.
"He-he was taken to... The Abyss."
Molly gasped, thinking he was literally thinking he was taking to an actual trench in the sea and sank to the bottom with an iron ball chained to him.
"He's dead?!"
She couldn't help but cry out, as Daichi and Rōzu felt a shiver just to the idea of that, but thankfully wasn't the case.
"No, Molly... He's been taken to a remote island. A man-made one similar to the Aether Foundation, but far from here."
There was a long pause, in which OZone had to explain, even though he'd rather eat broken glass than to break in the horrid news.
"The Abyss is an island for holding prisoners. The worst planet earth has to offer, I hoped it wasn't fit for someone as Buzz, but it looks like whoever caught him isn't holding any mercy on him..."
Cypher out of everyone was the least afflicted by the news, even after OZone telling where Buzz has been taken.
"OZone, can we save this for tomorrow and just break him out then?"
"No."
Now that caught everyone by surprise. The caring boss such as OZone admits not to save Buzz, but to leave him on such a nerve-racking prison. OZone explained that the security guards on that island weren't just made up of first come first serve employees with little to no battle experience. These were made of elite trainers, hand picked all across the world brave enough to stand up on anyone who dares break in. The Pokémon weren't all scrambled either, they were placed in particular teams to ensure a maximum strategy, which would prove a difficult challenge even with the Ultra Beasts.
"So, what are we supposed to do then?.."
Tony asked for an answer, but OZone sounded like he was all out of options. Which he wasn't of course, but needed time to think until then.
"Return tomorrow in the meeting room, then we'll talk."
He hung up, one by one, everyone did too. The night may have ended in a sweet dream on Melemele Island, but was a total nightmare in Ula'Ula.
