Chapter 8: Truth be told... Secrets within...

The following day in the Pokémon school in Alola was filled with laughter and friendship, as Bobs very Pokémon Rowlet, and Lana's Popplio joyfully chased each other around the room, having a good time. Pikachu, ,Rockruff Togedemaru, Bounsweet, and Akemi played their own game while their trainers sat and watched the adorable scene commence. Houndour was on the other side of the room, where it wanted to be left alone in a corner, napping away a meal in the corner next to a bookshelf.

"Isn't funny at times where you wish you were a Pokémon yourself?"

Sophocles watched the playtime between everyone, concentrating on the thought of what it may be like being a Pokémon.

"Not at all, sometimes I think to myself if I ever wanted to become a Pokémon myself, so your A-okay!"

Everyone besides the one and only had a nice thought of what if they were their favorite Pokémon, but Lillie on the other hand kept a responsible eye on the egg she was to keep safe until it hatched.

"Oh Lillie, you've had your eye on that egg for over three hours. Loosen yourself and join the rest of us, will ya?"

Sophocles gestures Lillie to join the class, but Lillie's gentle touch on the egg loosened any ambitions she may of have and sighs.

"Excuse me everyone... I only wish for the best of this egg... I hope that there will be no harm for it..."

Watching the girls hand on the egg, she gentle smiles for the day it was bound to hatch, even if it wasn't going to be for a while.

"Don't worry Lillie! That egg is going to hatch into something we all might haven't seen yet! Then you'll definitely stand out from the rest of the crowd!"

Ash smiles, watching Pikachu having a blast with the others, while Bounsweet rested upon Mallows arms, taking a five minute break from the action, until it couldn't help itself but to use Sweet Scent on its own, lightening the classroom with its aroma.

"I just can't ever get enough of Bounsweets delightful personality! It's only the best!"

Everyone focused on Mallows friendship towards her own Pokémon, no one was aware that Houndour woke itself up, picking up a highly concentrated scent in the room, sniffling, huffing, and following, the Pokémon lead itself to Bounsweet in a non-threatening way.

"Uh oh, looks like Rowlet has some competition Ash. A battle for Sweet Scent."

Kiawe chuckles to himself while talking toward to Ash, which his comment flew over his hairy head, when he took a peak at his own Rowlet, who slept even through the Sweet Scent.

Bounsweet lands onto Mallows arms, than bouncing right off of her, almost landing into the jaws of the curious Houndour for a quick taste. The Pokémon has shown to defend itself against those who want to swallow or to consume Bounsweet, without hesitation, the Pokémon swats the Houndour from reaching physical contact.

"Oh snap! Houndour!"

Bob gets up to check on the Pokémon, it wasn't injured or anything, but growled until it's tongue to be countered by such a harmless Pokémon like Bounsweet.

The owner of each Pokémon jumped, everyone else surprised by the act of the very action Bounsweet portrayed in the classroom.

"Oh geez! I'm so sorry about that! I know it's good for Bounsweet to defend itself, but that's a little too far!"

Mallow held Bounsweet, watching Bob pick up his Houndour which wasn't happy it was attack right in the face, but things for Bob were a bit different in his eyes.

"I-Its okay really!"

Bob switches gears and looks at his Pokémon.

"Houndour! Why would you do something like that to a friend of ours? It's not something you can eat!"

Talking down to the Houndour, Lillie calms Mallows tenses, while Lana does the same with Bob, until the two breathed in, the two looked at each other.

"I'm sorry Bounsweet pounced you without warning... Let me make it up to you!"

And with that, Mallow scribbles a piece of paper and hands it to Bob, who was interested on what the girl wrote.

"Thanks Mallow, but you really didn't have too,"

Trying to shake it off, hoping to pin the whole thing toward himself, Mallow nods and clenched her hands together.

"That right there is a coupon for a discounted meal at the restaurant my dad owns! He's okay with the discounts as long as I inform him about it."

Despite her gift, Bob felt as if he couldn't take it whatsoever, he urged to her that he was fine in one piece, but by the time he could, the bell rings.

"Welp, schools out. I gotta go. Come on Akemi, we've got a job to prepare for... Again."

Saki was the first to leave, being followed by her two Pokémon, as well as everyone. Lillie, Kiawe, Lana waved goodbye, as they all headed home, but Sophocles ran towards Ash before he dove back home.

"Wait Ash! Before you go, I was curious if you wanted to come over at my place in a few days and do something?"

Accepting the request, Rotomdex took note on Ash's schedule so he'd have time for him when the day comes.

"Recorded on my data! You're ready to rock Ashzzz! But for the meantime, letzz not forget the training you scheduled for Pikachu!"

Rotom reminds Ash, who brightens up, running down the street to reach Kukui's place as fast as he could, stranding Bob with no one else to turn too, Rowlet in his hands confused.

"See you for dinner! Hope our cooking isn't a disappointment!"

Mallow winks at him, as she and Bounsweet headed out, as Bob on the other hand, slumped to the nearest park bench, and sighs. The problem wasn't that Bob had plans, nor was it that he was to return to the hotel at a certain time in the night. The problem that the invitation came out of nowhere, he wasn't able to make it up to her because Houndour started the whole scene, despite what the others would think.

"Man... First I leave Lana hanging... Now Mallow?... Their both sweet girls... Like candy... And I'd eat those two pieces because I'm a fat slob!..."

The boy mumbles to himself, the guilt and the weight of his debts has really gotten him down more than it should. Towards Mallows restaurant Rowlet stood at the door, Bob took a handle, until a brilliant idea snapped into his mind! To makes things even with Mallow, he just needs tell her sometime he has yet to tell Lana!

"Cmon Rowlet!  I've gotta score to settle!"

The boy enters the restaurant with a knifes high in the air, paused to see all the people who currently were seated. The place had a nice setting, nothing touristy, but a nice mellow setting for a relaxing meal. The place wasn't too busy, nor was it too free, Bob scanned a free table to sit, until he sees a waving man getting his attention.

"Ahh! Bob! Alola! It's been awhile!"

The principle of the Pokémon school Samson Oak, speaks forward and gestures the boy to take the free set in front of him, which Bob did, Rowlet current sitting on his head.

"Hello principle Oak. I see you're currently in a good mood today."

Bob breaks the settling silence as the man smiles and nods.

"It'll take more than a few loads of stress to ruin my day! Heart of Tauros! And Lucario within!"

The man positions his hands in all these whacky forms to mimic the Pokémon he mentions, which Bob lightly chuckles to the man's humor.

"Nice one! I suppose you could say that I'm as tall as an Exeggutor here in Alola! I'm happy and I'm walking, but I'm not Wingull'ing anything!"

Samson and Bob had a good laugh over pokepuns, some people chuckled, and some people wished they would settle down. After a good laugh of puns and jokes, Bob took a deep breath.

"So Samson, you enjoying your job as the principle of the Pokémon School?"

In no doubt, the man couldn't help but nod the instant the question was thought up of.

"I love everything about my job dear boy. I love the location, the responsibility, and I would like to befriend each and everyone of the students who go there!"

Hearing that meant he couldn't possibly mean EVERYONE who attends classes, thinking of anyone that could be a pain, there was only one student that would be impossible to sit down too, and befriend without some sort of supernatural or any uncommon trait.

"Even someone like Saki?..."

Bob rudely snorts out and chuckles just to make it okay to clown around a bit, but the man even nods, as if it was a real question.

"Even her. The quiet ones always have a unique trait deep within them. Just because they aren't very talkative, doesn't mean they aren't human."

Hearing that from someone as positive as the principle can really shape up a persons negative thoughts. Bob wanted to ask several other questions about people like her, but the mention of Saki attracts the attention of a certain girl with green hair and a short shorts apron.

"Hiya Principle Oak! It's good to see you back!"

Mallow smiled as Bounsweet hopped on her head with glee, as Samson chuckles at the energy of the two.

"Good to see you too Mallow! I'm so excited to eat, I could just Jumpfluff into the sky and ride the eye of the storm like Thundurus and Tornadus!"

Bob encourages the man to continue with his comedy gold jokes,  as Mallow had a sweatdrop, but happy to see the boys enjoy themselves. Taking out a notepad, the girl was back to work.

"Excuse me if I'm taking your time during work... Let's see, I would like a grilled sandwich with crisscut fries please!"

Scribbling down the man's order, Mallows innocent eyes darts at Bob, who sweats from choking in his own words.

"Can I have uhh..."

Gazing upon the menu of the restaurant, he comes across his item of choice, something to go easy on her, so she wouldn't have to go through the troubles of preparation.

"A Caesar Salad please?..."

He adds a crooked toothy smile to cover up the fact that he doesn't want to stress Mallow, but wasn't working. In fact, the girl puts her hands on her hips, and shook her head in disagreement.

"Oh Bob. I know what you really like to eat! A Caesar Salad wouldn't fill you up near satisfactory! You have a discounted coupon for any meal! I'm a tough girl when it comes to the kitchen!"

Hearing that surprises the boy, hearing Mallows pride when it comes to the kitchen, and groans in guilt, which questions the two.

"Did... Did I say something that upset you?... I'm sorry if you really weren't that hungry... I regret saying that now..."

She immediately takes back what was said, as Bounsweet stood in the back of Mallows leg, but Bob shook his head, trying to her from falling apart, something how he tried with Lana.

"No no no! It's not that I'm NOT that hungry! I-I-It's just that-"

Before explaining what's been bothering Bob about this entire coupon idea, screeching wheels of motorcycles could be heard from outside of the restaurant, followed up by an argument from one side.

"Now who interrupts my side of this day?"

The children taking a peak outside, three teenagers wearing black with a chain made all of these funny hand gestures toward an innocent fruit-cart man, blocking the road only from a loosened wheel.

"Yo, yo, yo! Y'all have any idea how low you are blocking up our way from being us?"

The leading motorcyclist with blue hear gives a piece of his mind to the nervous wreck of a market owner.

"Please please! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to block the road! M-My carts wheel slipped right off-"

The second one to speak, had pink hair, and had a certain flare to her eyes.

"We don't care about the whose it's or the what's it's bub! Somebody's gotta pay for wastin' Team Skulls time! So light up and give us your fruit, all of it!"

The girl had a hand on her hip, knowing that she meant no joke, the man shivered, couldn't back away any further cornered against his own fruit stand.

"Yeah! What my big bro and sis said! It's either the fruit or the destruction of it!"

The last and the shortest of the three who call themselves Team Skull. Mallow definitely wanted to stop these lowlives from harming the innocence of a fruit owner, but definitely didn't have any of the strength of a Pokémon trainer. But Bob, was a different story.

"B-Bob, your not planning to intervene... Those crooks are dangerous!"

The girls warming bounced off of him like a light off of a mirror, as Bob headed forward to the group of thug-looking teenagers and the cracking man.

"How cliched is this Rowlet? A group of three calling themselves after a group name?... Yeah I thought so... But wait! Except no grown ups or a talking Meowth to be speaking off!"

Grabbing the attention of the three, Bob taunts them to focus from the man to him, who get a slightly disgusted face for insulting them.

"Talking Meowth huh? Soon you'll be seeing'em when we handle you chicken legs!"

The leader chuckles at his own joke.

"Hah! Good one Tupper!"

The girl of the group laughs. Bob slightly annoyed, for a seconding thinking about how Saki would react to these three meddlers.

"Aye Wrap, Zip.  I say we kick today's warm up here and'den swipe everything' this other guy has. Who's got this little boy?"

The boy steps back, only to see Wrap walk in front of him, ready to take him on.

"I'll do it. Looks like you'll need a snack just to get started!"

The miscreants laugh, as Mallow watches in anticipation, hoping that Bob doesn't loose the incoming match that was about to take place.

"Oh don't worry, imma enjoy an entire meal when I'm done mopping the floors with you! Rowlet! It's time!"

The bird Pokémon zooms off of his shoulder and stands in front of him, ready for battle.

"Little birdies under-matched against my flying Pokémon, Zubat!"

The bat Pokémon comes out ready to battle too.

"Do your worst. Come on Rowlet! Use Tackle!"

Staring off was a bang, Rowlet barges in to deliver a bruising Tackle on the opponents Pokémon, but the battle had just begun!

"Lucky hit! Zubat! Use Astonish!"

Right from recovery, Wrap's Zubat counters with an attack that pushed Rowlet back right to Bobs side of the field, but the two flicked the sweat on top of their face, and resumed.

"Oh your in for a surprise coming up, Rowlet use Peck!"

Zooming and striking the opponent right out of the air, the grunts grew impatient for the boy's downfall.

"Whaddya doing Wrap! Yer suppose be kicking his keister! Not letting him do that to yours!"

Tupper yells toward the girl to step up her game, while Zip stood right beside him yelling,

"Y-Yeah! What big bro just said!"

Desperately trying to resume, Wrap makes her move.

"No boy is gonna make a fool out of me! Poison Fang and put an end to this match!"

The typing on the incoming attack surely shook Bob, until he thought to himself if he could trick the opposing side with a typing disadvantage!

"Rowlet! Stand your guard and use Leafage!"

Firing away the leafy wind right in the Pokémons way, Zubat looses flight and is sent back out of control.

"Now I say we put an end to this! Tackle now!"

Taking down the Pokémon right where it was Rowlet grubbed the Pokémon with its talons and hammered it right into the ground, no way the Pokémon could go on from there. Wrap jumped in disbelief when her own Pokémon was knocked out.

"No no no! No way in any shape or life that I could lose to the likes of you!"

Bob took a step closer with his Rowlet sitting on top of his head. He gestures his hand for the three to go away, Mallow resumes watching the entire thing, which the three hopped back onto their motorcycles and road off.

"You ain't seen the last of us! I'd watch your back if I was you!"

Wrap yelled before the three left the scene, as the fruit man shook the boy's hand for his heroism repeatedly, as Mallow and Bounsweet congratulated him as well.

"Nice job Bob! I didn't think you'd drive them off just like that! That really took some guts!"

After an aware of a watermelon from the man before he left off too, the children and their Pokémon enjoyed the evening with a healthy snack.

"Thanks for the meal and snack Mallow... I'm sorry for acting so complicated back their... It's just that... I'm not so faun of people giving me things so generously..."

Scratching his head, Mallow wondered what the boy was talking about, before resuming what was on his mind.

"Well... What I'm saying is... I want to be even with you for this gift... So I'd thought I'd tell you something before I tell Lana this... My secret..."

Gasping while chewing on a watermelon, she leaned in just waiting in anticipation on what this secret could be. Can she even handle a secret so juicy?

"It all started on a cold rainy day in Kalos... Because of the harsh weather, I couldn't go outside to play, so I flipped through the channels on the TV hoping that something good was on during the weekday, but I was soon losing fate when all I saw were overly sappy soap-operas and cop/mystery shows that older people love... Until... I stumbled upon a... Unique show..."

A flare in Bob's cheeks rose, Mallow and Bounsweet leaned in closer, mowing something personal was about to be spoken.

"Wh-what is it?... Tell me! Tell me please! I won't tell a soul!"

"Bou-Bounsweeeet!"

The two begged, as Bob groans in embarrassment. He didn't have any other choice this far but to continue.

"I flipped to this anime channel I'm not very faun of... And I... Saw this... School  girl anime... Errrrrrrr..."

He dozes off hoping to leave it at that, but Mallow wanted more details. She shook the table, there had to be SOMETHING about this anime that could be so juicy about.

"This particular anime was... Colorful... It starred girls with bright colored hair and eyes, and have the skin of normal, girls. But their... Their... Their..."

Now going into the broken record distraction, Mallow lightly pats his back, despite holding back the jittering energy within her of this secret, and it even shows, her smile could barely stay in piece, so Bob had to spit it out before she popped.

"Cheerleading!.... They also do cheerleading..."

Mallow slams her hands into the table, jumping up to know that he watched an anime about cheerleading high school girls.

"So that's it! You like an anime about cheerleaders!"

She blurts without much consideration to keep it a secret. Bob shuts her mouth closed in embarrassment to keep from others hearing even if no one else were in the restaurant. Closing time.

"HUSSSSH! It's not the anime in particular!... Look... I have a... a... A 'thing' for watching a cheerleader performance... The choreography, the positioning, the rehearsal, the three piece uniforms, the pompoms, the not over done makeup, the... The big bows that match perfectly on their head-Mallow! Oh geeez I am a mess!"

Bob slams his head into the table and pretends to bawl, over his secret. Mallow pats his head and calms him down from breaking down any further.

"It's okay Bob! Really! Cheerleaders are pretty and creative! It would be crazy for a boy to not find the least amount of attention towards them! Really!"

Hearing that softened the boy up immediately, and picked his head up.

"... Really?... I thought of it as a creeper thing... I mean... It's cheerleaders in the one pieces and their bows-you know, I don't want to go into details, so I'm gonna head out..."

A big huff, Bob and Rowlet made their way to the door, but before he left, he turns his head over to the girl and asked,

"Y-Your not gonna tell anyone this are you?..."

Mallow shook her head, as the boy left. Praying, just in case...
