Chapter 42:Another Brionne to Bounce Bubbles!

It was another sunny day in Alola on Melemele Island, Ash and his Pokémon took a day off from training and spent the day out on the beach, treating themselves from a week of chaos down at the Pokémon School. While not as many of the locals stepped outside for schedule reason after another, a fair amount of people also enjoyed the beautiful beachfront. Ash, Pikachu, and Rowlet splashed in the water, cooling themselves from the blazing sun and temperature. Litten spent its time dozing off from all the moving, which Rockruff instead ran on the sandy beach, leaping over Ash's backpack in its own amusement. Rotomdex hovered a distance above the water to keep its circuits from shorting out in contact with the water but managed to hang around with Ash and his Pokémon.

"Alright, Pikachu! Here comes the big one!"

Ash massively splashed water on his Pikachu, which pushed it across from him but returns the splashing with joy.

"Pika! Pika-chuuuu!"

With the vigorous motion of its propelling tail, Pikachu managed to knock Ash off balance, his block of a head thumps right to the sand, but instantly thrusts back up for air. Ash breaks into laughter, Pikachu and Rowlet get a kick out of the silly gag. He heads back onto the shore for a break from playing and sat on a towel he had set on the sand, he huffed as he sat down. He and his Pokémon decided to go grab a frozen treat to enjoy in heat, so he sets out to the food courts and waiting in a line at the ice cream stand. He was finally up to order, and when he did, he had to... Double check to see if it was a legit stand.

"Say... Is that license for your ice cream legal AND legit??..."

Ash back in cop mode for a second just had to appear to make sure he wasn't supporting some illegal corporation just like with "Alola's Winter" but the employee at this stand sweatdrops as if Ash was just being goofy.

"Um... Yes...?"

"Oh! Goodie! One double scooped Rocky Road and Butter Pecan, please! With a bag of Pokébeans!"

Purchasing what he had just ordered, he licks his treat with sparkling eyes on how flavorful the top scoop was to him and hummed with satisfaction. He wanted to enjoy the rest of his cone closer to the water, so he parked himself onto a large rock on a mini trail that led him closer to the surface and enjoyed his cone from top to bottom.

"What a scrumptious cone!"

Ash stretched his slightly sticky hands in the air and then proceeds to scrub off them off with sea water, which wasn't exactly sanitizing them, but same general idea to guess. Suddenly, footsteps on the rocky shore approach him, at first worried it was a lifeguard warning him that he was at a spot that was off limits, but it was only a girl he had made an acquaintance of.

"Oh, it's you, Ash. Didn't expect you to be out all the way here."

Lynn and her uncommonly colored partner Pokémon stood right next to her, carrying a box of fishing lures and a fishing rod as if she had plans to get on her way.

"Hiya Lynn! Long time no see!"

Ash stood up to see someone who hasn't been around for a length of time, noticing Popplio have grown since their first battle. Lynn places her wrists on her hips, high-class confidence and huffed a hardy laugh.

"I'm glad you noticed my Pokémon before I could even say it! My shiny Popplio has evolved into a Brionne!"

The new Pokémon clapped its flippers while balancing on the ones in the back, Ash simple had to get a better angle of it, Lynn enjoying her new appearance.

"Bzzzt!"

Rotomdex hovers towards the Pokémon and takes a quick registration in its data.

"Brionne, the Pop Star Pokémon, A Water type. It gets excited when it sees a dance it doesn't know. This hard worker practices diligently until it can learn that dance."

"I wouldn't mind if I ran into a Brionne, that would be so cool to see it dance!"

Ash's eyes sparkle, right until Lynn lends him the rod in her hand. She was onto something at first but then parks herself on another open rock.

"I was gonna see what rare Pokémon I could discover today, but maybe, juuuuuust maybe... If you really want to test your luck, you can amuse me and see if you have what it takes to find yourself a Brionne."

That was the type of thing Lynn would drag Len to tease him to the brim of his vest, but he didn't seem he to be around, so Ash took the rod and raise it in the air.

"Challange accepted! Lets goooooooooooo!"

Similar to a Pokéball, Ash tosses the line as far as he could, until the lure tapped the surface of the water, feeling like Lana for a second, without the massive crush on Bob, because he don't roll like that. About eight minutes have gone by, feeling a weak tug.

"Here we go now! Bring me a rare Alolan Pokémon!"

yanking the rod, Ash and Lynn barely caught a small glimpse of the Pokémon that splashed in the water, until something else forcefully bashes it off the lure, taking the bait instead.

"What the hell??"

Linda's mouth twisted as she watched what was just unfolding while Ash pulls the Pokémon to the rocky shore. He, Pikachu, and Rotomdex pulled the rod with their might until something unbelievable splashed out of the water.

"Briiiii! Briiiiii!"

The exact same Pokémon who stood by Lynn tackles Ash right into the water, taking the rod in his hand with him. Ash splashes, he gasped for air, but the Pokémon was cuddling him, he could barely breathe in its clutches.

"Oh no! That Brionne is trying to drown him! You-you got to do something Pikachu!"

Rotomdex panics, telling Pikachu to do something before Ash ended up sleeping in the fishes himself any deeper in the water. Pikachu's ideal plan was to zap Brionne, but Lynn puts a cork in that idea by wagging her finger.

"No, no, no!" Zapping Brionne would only zap it, Ash, and anything around them at least within a mile radius! Perhaps even father! What you want to do is to get them out of there, push them with out in Iron Tail! On the water!"

Following Lynn's instructions, it's powerful Steel-type move actually threw them out of the water, impacting the damp sand on the shore, everyone rushing to shore on what had just happened.

"Th-thanks buddy... I thought I was gonna be fish food there..."

Ash breathes for air, looking right next to him was a regular Brionne quite down on itself. It wasn't upset from the Iron Tail, but it's neglect and ignorance from Ash. Which honestly made him a tad guilty.

"Hey-Hey... I'm sorry, you-you weren't doing anything bad..."

Ash crawled to the gloomy Pokémon using his hands and knees, and gently lifting its head with an open hand.

"You just wanted to be friendly, is that it? Why don't we start all over? I'm Ash!"

Hearing Ash be okay with its presence, Brionne clapped its flippers and pounced him with cuddles, Ash could hardly catch a breath from his laughter.

"Oh please! For crying out loud! Are you gonna catch the thing or not??"

Lynn awkwardly stood their watching the bonding between the two, sitting up and looking at the Pokémon.

"Huh... What do you say Brionne? You wanna travel with Pikachu and I?"

"Briii!! Bri!!"

Taking out a Pokéball, Ash lightly taps it on the Pokémon's head, as it dwells itself a home within. Ash smiled as he held the Pokéball, Lynn at first still couldn't believe Ash found himself a Brionne just like that, but at the same time glad he made friends with it so fast. So she sat by him as they watched the waves splash onto the shore. Lynn and her own partner sat together while Ash had his own and his Pikachu watching the rolling waves.

"You're not like most other boys I met before are you Ash?"

She breaks the silence, asking Ash an interesting question that could go anywhere.

"Nope. I didn't even consider that. I'm just me with my head up."

"Yeah, you're definitely something different."

She rolls her eyes at Ash's very unique behavior, but he stretches his feet on the golden sand and buried his hands into it, a comfortable feeling warms him up.

"If I may ask Lynn. How did you and Len end up meeting in the first place? And why is it that you act so high and mighty over him?"

Lynn slightly blushed as if she were to be mistaken to be in some sort of relationship with him, but she hid her face and slightly pushed him for mentioning Len.

"Don't get the wrong idea, but... that kid needs help. Like, a lot of it."

A small silence fills the air to make sure Ash was following up what was going on.

"Help?"

"Y-Yeah, that kid is as stiff as a twig fallen from a tree Ash. If it wasn't for my superior grade-A help, Len would've been a plastic bag in the wind wishing to start again!"

Referencing a Katy Perry song, Ash couldn't help but to consider a line to draw here. He may have though Lynn Perhaps was exaggerating about her relationship with Len, but of course wasn't mentioning anything that may make her gush.

"Yeah... I do remember you hissing at Len to leave you alone despite his generosity so I'm sure you're not being completely honest with me..."

"What-Ehh, nan-who?? I was only worked up from practice and he caught me on a bad time! That's all!"

Flustered like a custard, Lynn looks away from at, denying anything more he had to say about Len... until she eventually comes out and says it herself.

"So maybe Len... Is the only loyal friend I have... Happy?"

"Loyal?"

"Yes, Ash! Geez! No matter how many times I must shoo him off or I insult him, he... Doesn't leave..."

Sounding like a bad thing, Lynn huffed and traced her finger on the sand and traces a stick figure to drown her feelings or keeping her from going apeshit about it.

"So perhaps... Without him... I... wouldn't have been able to... evolved my Popplio..."

Ash lightens up to Lynn's confession, he was mostly doing so to bug her, but she ends up slapping him on the forehead for attempting to tease her.

"I'm not finished! Sure I tell him to fuck off, but really, I want him to stay around with a grape soda you know?"

"Totally! Break time is over Lynn. Thanks for the fishing lesson!

Ash nod as he stood back up in the air with his Pikachu and his newly caught Pokémon right beside him, the four ended up waving her a goodbye to continue their day together while Lynn... Had other priorities on her mind.

She wandered back to the area Ash had first met and even battled her, knowing she could find him there. Len sitting on the grass with a nice blanket under him. A picnic basket with a delightful pb and j sandwiches all done up with the crusts cut off and wouldn't you know it? He even carried two big cans of grape soda were waiting for her, she couldn't be happier as she joins him for a toast of their friendship.
