Chapter 39: There's plenty of Pokémon in the Ghoulish Sea!
After the weirdest introduction to the new Island Trail Captains, a whole new day rose upon on all four islands in the Alola Region! Some people such as Bob exactly knew how to spend his morning. Quickly, he wakes up Rowlet and hops on the couch, it was that time of the day in which all binge-watchers know and love to do.
"Time for High School Spirit Rowlet! Wake up! Wake up!"
He urges his own partner to wake up to it wouldn't miss in today's episode. Right before Bob had finished setting it up on the TV from a well-known Anime App on his phone, the two spent the morning watching three episodes of all the cheerleader action a boy in school could ever imagine. It's beyond how Bob remains skeptical about Lana, while he has no problem watching girls perform such majestic moves in sync, looking gorgeous at it.
"Throooo?"
Rowlet turns its head at the practice routine of Chloe, Patty, Briana and the rest of the wonderful cheerleaders Bob couldn't resist. A plate of hot pancakes he ordered from room services really sunk into seat, waiting what was to come next of the show. It was then the two gasped, their attention focused on a boy who simply watched the cheerleader practice for next weeks home game.
"Ooooooooooooohh fuck!.. It's him! The bastard Aaron! What's he gonna do this time?!"
The young man in the southern jeans and the stunning hat was known for being on the same soccer team the cheerleaders were known to root for, but despite his cool structure, he was mostly looked down by the girls for his demeaning and lack of energy he presented for the sport of soccer. Despite the weighed disapproval, there was only one girl who didn't look him down like they all did... Chloe.
"If that bastard ever thinks of touching my Chloe, I'm hitting him with a baseball bat!"
Bob yells at the Tv, Rowlet chirping for Chloe to make a run for it. The show resumes with Arron walking toward the girls. murmurs flickered on wondering what Arron may have been up too. But he does the one thing Bob, Rowlet, any boy on the show, and anyone outside of the show could have ever pulled off without a dark shade of blush or a shred of regret doing. Aaron walked right up to Chloe and puts his own hat on her head, and says out loud.
"It's time Chlo. It's time I stop cowering of how I truly feel for you."
And pecks his lips right into hers, the girls on the show screamed of what they have witnessed, and so did Bob.
"THROOOOOO! Throoooooo-??"
"That motherfucking cookie stealing fucker!"
Rowlet and Bob squawked and shouted in circles just as the credits rolled to the episodes ending. This lasted only about
three minutes, before the neighbors pounded on the door to keep quiet, which he did.
"I... I'm just in shock, how could Aaron just thrown himself to do that?? After three dates! The first disastrous one, the other two mediocre! And he does that to her??" Whyyyyyyyy!"
Punching his pillow in a fit of exaggerated anger, Bob finally vented himself of what happened on the show, deciding to call it a day from the anime and plopping back to his couch with some regular television.
"... At least... He makes more sense then what I actually do."
Rowlet flaps right by him on the seat like a pet and pecks at his side.
"He knows... How to perk an interesting relationship... And I... Don't know how to. I don't know what to do in that sort of thing..."
Flipping channels with Lana on his mind, returning to the head thumping of irregular heartbeats and his actions towards her. He turned off the tv and to take a minute to picture it. Perhaps if he would just give it a chance, maybe even he could be cool with the idea of her being obviously flirtatious with him, and he could do the same to her.
"You know what Rowlet...? I think I'm gonna give this a shot." He threw himself up from the couch and headed for the cell phone on the nightstand. He waited for a call from Lana's place after the hesitation of asking her out to hang, even if he knew it wasn't a direct correlation of a date. Finally, someone picking up the phone, but sadly it wasn't the girl, but her mother.
"Hello?"
She picked up, which shuddered the boy from the person he wasn't trying to get ahold of, but plays it the best way he could without any awkward assessment.
"Errr... Hello. This is Bob, a friend of Lana's from the Pokémon school..."
"Oh! Bob! Hello there! Excuse me for the surprise there for a second. This is Lana's mother speaking, my daughter told me some things about you."
Hearing that only made Bob anxious, wondering if that was a good or a bad thing, but if Lana had the obvious crush for him, chances are that she may have only told good things about the boy.
"I-Is that so?"
"Absolutely! She's told me you're quite the Pokémon trainer!"
"Well!... T-Thank you!... Is Lana home by any chance?"
"She is, but she's currently giving our Lapras a bath right as we speak. But your always welcome to stop by, I believe she's almost finished."
"Sounds good, I will be there in an hour or two. Thank you, bye!"
He hangs up the line and changes his clothes. Something not too informal, but something casual. Stepping out of the hotel, the boy trails out of his room to ask Lana out on a date, hoping giving this a chance will do good for them both.
The path to Lana's house on the shoreside felt more like a journey in a fairy tale to slay a Dragon Type Pokémon, his steps weighed down, as if we was really wearing armor for the occasion. He obviously had his doubts, and he had his vision of this, but luckily he wasn't alone on this. Rowlet, his best friend rested upon his shoulder knew that he had to show him that there's no need for that attitude.
"You're right Rowlet, I just neeeeeeeeed to be myself, that's all! Then... Ask her out for a nice lunch. Easy as pie!"
Despite getting out into the air, it didn't boost his confidence as much as he would've liked. He comes around a corner of a block and crosses the street. While doing so, his mind was lost in the static of High School Spirit,
"Cmon Bob! You got this! Now or never, and then-! Then... Uhh..."
He slows his pace down and think about something he has forgotten about a pep rally the cheerleaders had on the show.
"What was the thing Patty said before that game on the rainy day?"
Expecting himself to fish out the answer from his mind, a sudden voice happy answers him as peppy and cute as she could.
"Let's dance through the rain and bring the thunder!"
The sudden in voice answer scares the daylights out of the boy, for a second thinking that Lana had caught up with him after the news from her mom, but he was pretty far off here. An Acquaintance of his, a while back, a girl who blended into a Halloween party, the same one whose heart began pumping feeling after accepting her charms and making her feel special. Acerola happily waves as Bob was confused on a couple of matters.
"Oh-oh... It's you..."
Bob meekly said what he could even muster on the spot. The girl couldn't help but to twirl around with a light blush on her face and pose a fabulous hand-to-hip posture.
"Thaaaaat's right! Acerola here! Coming to you on the spot! I never knew you were into anime Bobbie! Add that to the things we already have in common!"
Her energy was almost too much for the boy too handle, although he wanted to make a run out of her sweet sweet clutches, he just couldn't do it. There was no way he wanted to be an asshole to someone whose been so kind to him.
"... So I take it that your into High School Spirit too...?"
There his legs settle into position, Acerola's eager movement charms the boy, something about that big smile of hers seemed so different than anyone he has ever met.
"Ya-ha! Haven't missed a single one! Any-who, I missed you Bobbie! It felt forever since we last seen each other!"
She missed his presence so much, he grabbed the boys right hand and gave it a tight grab, yet peaceful. A sudden thumping from the heart and a major blush flares inside, but he couldn't resist and let the girl roll anyway.
"I... Missed you a lot too! I feel pretty blue without you!"
Saying that cheesy compliment could make a real commoner gag, but Acerola's eyes glitter even more hearing those from the boy who doesn't want to throw her out a window.
"Bobbie! That's soooooo sweet of you! Well now that you're here... Cmon and let's go have some fun!"
"F-f-f-fun, what now??"
Grabbing the boy by the hand, the girl ran through the sidewalk, where they ended up at the local town park, a place the girl seem quite faun of.
"W-what's going on...?"
Bob scratched his drying throat, as Acerola twirled in front of him.
"You and I are having our date here silly! It's perfect!"
The thumping in his heart raced hearing how much Acerola was into this date of theirs. Bob didn't even consider it romantic at first, but Acerola had no problem of getting into that swing.
"First stop, let's go get us a snack Bobbie!"
"W-well Acerola, I really think I need to tell you someth-err..."
His sentence ended up drowning itself out as he follows the girl for the said snack of a sweet Malasada. Under the shade of a tree on a park bench, the two enjoy a wonderful refreshment, even under the pressure in the boy.
"Tasty! I hope your enjoying your treat Bobbie! Looks like you got a lot of sugar under your chin!"
Straight up, she went in and scooped it all up with her finger and wipes it away. Bob desperately attempted to tell her about Lana, but Acerola giggled and kicked her feet on the bench.
"How have you been Bobbie? Everything at the house is great! My three buddies are spooky friends anyone can ask for! I even met another ghost type Pokémon I could show you later!"
This date already felt like it was speeding down a hill at a fast speed, Bob only looked down upon the ground with the half eaten Malasada on his chest, but it wasn't then until Acerola asked when he hasn't respond.
"Bobbie? Is everything okay?"
"T-totally Acerola! I, just need to talk to you about something important..."
Here it comes ladies and gentlemen, the big misconception most guys and girls mistake their first ever date on.
"Y-your not having fun are you...? Bobbie I'm sorry! Perhaps I was trying too hard into forcing you-"
"It's not that! It's not you, it's just me right now-WHAT?!"
He couldn't believe what he was saying out of his mouth. The most cliched way to cover up that common misconception.
"Acerola... C-Can I talk to you that's really worrying me?"
"Anything Bobbie! I'm sorry for blurting that out..."
Back sitting on the bench, Bob exhaled whatever had just happened.
"So... You remember my friend Ash from the sleepover right? Well... He recently found out that a girl has a big crush on him, and she isn't afraid to be all lovey-dovey with him. Then, there's this other girl who also really likes him. I don't know if it's a crush high, but she likes him too. I really want to help out a friend, I just worry about him..."
Back at the Professors place, Ash sneezed all over a letter he was sending to his mom to tell her about his current adventure so far.
"Dammit! It's ruined!"
Back in the park, Acerola blinked as she tilted her head to what Bob had said.
"That... Sounds like a tough love triangle to handle."
"Oh you have no idea, I'm confused too."
Acerola thought about an answer as best as she could, but came out with a possible solution.
"Perhaps... He should think about which one of those girls he actually has big feelings for... If anime has taught me anything, it's that love isn't easy, something that you have to earn!"
Bob can relate on the earning part, despite Arron not deserving Chloe in High School Spirit, he had the courage to pull his charisma forward and show him just how much she cared. Despite that, Bob felt lag in that answer because he couldn't ditch Lana so simply. It could really hurt her feelings, so he had to pretend that it was a great answer.
"Thanks! That really helps Acerola! You deserve a... Noogie!"
Bob playfully wraps his arm around the girl and gives her a noogie that quivered her like a Bug Pokémon using Struggle Bug.
"Stooop that! Stooop that Bobbie! That tickles!!"
Acerola giggles as Bob let's go, and then hugs her for the advice, hoping it was convincing enough to her.
"Thanks again Acerola, that date was really something! I promise you it'll be something else the next time we hang out!"
"..."
Acerola didn't move from the hug, and then smiles in that big charming way of hers.
"Deal!"
Bob honestly blushed a little big as the two waved goodbye and headed their own directions. The girl on the other hand danced and twirled over her excitement, until she noticed something on the ground she had stepped on.
"What's this?"
She picks up a card with a scratch or two. A plastic key that belongs to a hotel, which she knew it was Bobs because it slipped out about the quickdraw hug. She slips it into her own pocket as she attempted to catch up to the boy to return his belonging.
The sun was at the point of beginning to descend downward for night to come. The air's temperature hasn't dropped majorly, but still quite noticeable of it to become a tad more chill than usual. Bob walked through the streets of Hau'Oli City, reaching the shoreside for the one house he knows Lana currently lives in. The girl and her Popplio just stepped out, waving to her mother she'll be back in a moments notice, but she didn't expect to see the boy in the view across the street.
"Oh! Bob! I wasn't expecting you to be HERE here!"
Looking both ways, she crossed the street with a welcoming smile, hopefully meaning that her friendly status means that she'll be easier to talk too.
"Yeah, heh. So if your mom hasn't told you yet, I did actually make a call this early noon to see you."
"My mother sure did tell me about you! What did you want to talk about?"
Deep down, Lana can feel the question she's been wanting to hear for a while now, and she had the perfect way to answer it. Secretly embracing her excitement!
"Lana, spending time at the Pokémon school for me has been a blast lately! Without the support from you or the rest of the class, I would've remain in hatred of this place! But I'm more than happy to stay!"
"No worries! It's good to see your Alolan spirit grow in the making!"
"Pop! Popplio!"
"Heh. Tho I was thinking... Perhaps you and I... I don't know..."
Lana tilted her head with patience, knowing that the question was about to let loose from his lips, but before he could even say the words "date" or "hang out alone", Acerola ran towards the two, out of breath she was able to catch up to the two.
"Bobbie! *pants pants* You dropped your room key, silly!"
Picking right from her After checking his left pocket, he gasped as he thanked the girl before he would realize he lost it in the park. Cousin Ernesto hated replacing room keys because of the damn progress to even copy them out.
"Don't thank me Bobbie, because I had a great time with you today! Can't wait for the next time we hang out!"
"... Hang out you say, huh?"
Lana asked now with a fake smile she made towards the girl, for ruining the moment with her and Bob, who took the opportunity to introduce them.
"Lana, this is Acerola, that girl I told you I met at that sleepover with the other guys! Acerola, this is Lana, she goes to the same school as I do! Really something with the water I'll tell you that!"
"Nice to meet you, Lana!"
"... Ditto ditto... Popplio..."
The two shook hangs as Lana remained quiet after being so... Confused yet targeting now.
"Welp, Imma let you two in peace, bye Bobbie!"
"... Bobbie?"
Acerola skips away, while Lana stood there with a sudden flare in her stomach.
"That Acerola! Isn't she something isn't she?"
"... Yeah, she is. B-but you wanted to ask me something?"
"Oh that's right! Perhaps you would like to hang out sometime after school?"
The moment is ruining by the girl who suddenly appeared out of nowhere to the blue girl. She could nod, her mood now fake as the two headed back home. Bob snuggles in bed after watching late night tv, and stares at the dark ceiling.
"That actually went better than I expected! Things are now running smoothly and now my romantic worrying is finally over!"
Somewhere in Alola... The two girls in different locations with different moods.
"Hi Mimi! I'm back home! I gotta tell you about the sweetest boy ever! He wants to hang out again! I'm sooooo excited! I gotta make the next time something he won't forget!"
"... *Sigh* If Acerola thinks he can call my Bib nicknames, than she has another wave incoming... I'll take him before she could... But for now... Harper! Sarah! Who wants to play Monopoly Jr.?"
