Chapter 32: Coming soon to the Crazy Theatre near you!

On a cool sunny weekend on the island of Melemele, Lillie and Bob spent the day before school catching a play that's been the quite the word around town, to the point where Hobbes, Lillie's humble employee, and Ernesto, Bob's cousin saw themselves and adored such a menacing wonderful performance. This particular play starred a young man and his own Rowlet, which they wore matching masks, rescue a pretty lady from a maniacal villain who had a Magmar to make sure the mysterious duo weren't any trouble, but soon ate his own words as he ends up in the slammer after a fight that left the audience at the edge of their seats.

"Wow. I did not expect the play to be THAT good, I mean geeeeeeeez..."

Something about the entire thing made Bob think to himself, something that really needs to be considered of. Lillie, who held onto Snowy, while keeping the accompaniment of the rare sparkling Pikipek Lucky, napping on her head. She too enjoyed the play, but unlike Bob, she just thought about the major roles of the play.

"Have you ever wondered how anyone can memorize dozens of lines all for a show? I don't think I could ever bring myself on that stage myself..."

She lightly blushed and even giggled at her own girlish customs, but Bob didn't want to hear how she was such a nervous voice.

"Why wouldn't you want to be part of a play? I mean, I wouldn't mind it myself if I could be on that stage, I mean, I don't even have to be the main character you see? I always saw myself as an underling, or a side character. Now Ash would be a better main character because you know... He's official."

Bob sighed, Lillie patted his back to lift him up from his current position, while Ash can officially enjoy himself here or even outside of here. But the thought of backstage with all your friends did sound a little bit of fun to the girl, so she was sold on the idea of being in a play too.

"Your actually right Bob, we should be in a play! But would that mean we need to make our own play?"

Lillie touched her finger on her face to rethink how the whole process on this worked and to see how it would bring themselves to schedule to rehearse while attending school. But Bob didn't worry as much, he knew Kukui was an understanding man, so a heads up should do the trick, maybe he even knows a connection between anyone who works in that said theater could go down as well, it was all up for time to takes its place.

The next day, Bob and Lillie specifically waited for Kukui to see if they could use the theatre for a play of their own or anything, while the rest of the class waited for his arrival for school to resume. By the time he gets here, he greets everyone with a big welcome.

"Alola class, today's lesson on Alolan history will run a little shorter than today because something just has gotten green lit!"

He winks at the two specifically, giving them the face that he has indeed given permission to use the theatre through his friendship and connections.

"Aye! That's awesome Kukui!"

Bob lightened himself up, while Lillie clenched her hands in the girlish excited way, everyone else was lost.

"Wait, why are we so happy?"

Ash scratched his head, until Kukui gladly clears him the details of his permission. Right then, the rest of the class seemed pretty pumped to take their own breath onto the stage, wowing the audience right off their socks. Saki, being the oddball, tried to be more involving because of her recent withdrawal of her once terrible life, so the least she could do is to sound excited.

"Yay, a play!... Umm, what is this play gonna be about?"

She asked, Bob taking out a piece of paper and a pen and asked everyone to huddle around so they can start strategizing with a major game plan.

"There isn't exactly a plot yet, but that's not a bad thing! Let's all put our minds into it, and let's make a script so fantastic, the box office is going to explode from the good reviews for our play!

Raising his own fist, everyone also thrown theirs as high as they could, Saki being the last one because she still wasn't quite use to the whole anticipation thing.

A few 'harmless' school days trying to pump out a script that would wow the crowed ended up in a couple of, 'interesting' twists and characters added onto the plot. All 8 kids with at least one or two markings on them just to squeeze a little cooperation into the mix. Ash had a large bandaid on his forehead, Bob had a Litten scratch on his face, Sophocles had a puffed up unhealthy cheeks, Lana had a surgeons mask covering her mouth, Kiawe had a bruise on his arm, Mallow had a few gray hairs in a place she desperately didn't want on her head, Lillie's dress (specifically her behind and on her hat) had a huge strawberry shortcake stain, and Saki's hand felt like she punched a rock with full force. It was a tragic that playwriting was much harder than they have hoped for, even if it was just for a laugh.

"That wazzz... Duzzasterouzz..." Rotomdex hovered forward, not even saying another word after five days of... Unfitting pain. Ash just waved his hand, pretending that the last couple of days of was a blast, twitching from the sting of the injury on his forehead.

"No, nooo, noooooooooo Rotom... I thought it was fun writing that entire thing in my eyes."

He didn't even acknowledge that he called the play a 'thing' and continued to walk.

"I for one totally agree. I'm sorry Ash, I shouldn't have tormented Litten while eating a fried Octillary sandwich..."

Everyone lightly nodded, before entering the play to meet the professor and the man who was letting them do they play in.

"Alol-waaaah? What happen to you kids?! You didn't get into any fights did you??"

The owner of the community theatre looked at the kids, as if they all have gotten their own stories of feeling violated in a way. Each kid looked at one another, and spat out each of their own answer at the same time, sounded quite unorthodox and not so humble to a high class man who could purchased a another theatre if he wanted too.

"I bumped my head on the stop sign to school today! Totally not stressed or anything! No worries!"

"I taunted a Litten at lunch, with my lunch. Noooooooot the best of days..."

"Just... Too many thoughts and plot-holes at once while working as well... It's just too much to process..."

"I dipped into the freezing cold water after a hard day at school... I caught a cold..."

"I thought pumping the workout would get my mind off of the comprehensive story telling, and ended up doing more lifting than I could do and... Arms hurt."

"I... Uhh... Tripped onto a pebble after circling for an hour straight trying to think of the perfect conclusion to the end... But I'm okay!"

"I thought a creamy treat could cheer me up after the stress has been piling up... but before I could even have a spoonful of strawberries, I ended up sitting on my desert. The humiliation still lingers me even in a clean dress..."

"I punched a wall. Please hear me out on this. I am much happier than I was before, but THAT, that just was too much to handle..."

Just hearing the individual stories from these children, the old man nods in understatement of what they all went through.

"I understand my children, writing a flowing story is not considered a simple task. But please don't forget that it has been completed by the eight of you and I do wish to see this play in action as soon as I can."

Kukui placed his hand on the old gentleman's shoulder, with a great big smile just for the kids who actually did lift up the children from their current position.

"He's right, I told him there is nothing to be so worried about as long as my beloved class will be the ones to create this play!"

Everyone headed onto the stage, everyone at a sense of joy that they will soon be up their, with a big crowd of people just waiting to see their faces in action under the spotlight. The separate dressing rooms were filled to the brim with costumes, makeup, and all other sorts of accessories and props, it was something to behold.

"For a second, I thought this would just be too new for me to even try, but having another thought, I actually do look forward to give my best right on that stage and sizzle a performance."

Kiawe placed a finger on his chin in a way of positive consideration. Mallow couldn't help but chime in her positivity and bring the girls specifically closer to her.

"Me either Kiawe! We're gonna look so cool while we're all having a blast! I can hardly wait just to start rehearsal itself!"

The old gentleman smiled and peeked at his watch, looking up as if he had other places to be.

"Goodness gracious. I overstayed my own welcome. I must get going now, so I'll leave you the care of my own theatre to you Professor Kukui. But before I do go, I would like you to meet the rest of the cast for your play."

Two adults and presumably a child walked up to the three quickly right behind the curtain waved a bright hand and said,

"Greetings, greeting! We hope you don't mind our performances until the big day!"

The old man left, which the kids and the three actors got right rehearsal, ready to expect the unexpected. But what they didn't know, Team Rocket was under their noses all through rehearsal.

Their plan was quite simple, but yet, risky at the same time. The idea of swiping Pikachu onstage with an audience full of whitenesses is definitely something that normally shouldn't be to be considered in the evildoing minds of plot scheming villains, but at the same, it may not be such a bad idea at all. The reason is to be explained soon enough. An entire week has passed, the opening night at the community theatre was already packed. Everyone behind stage shuddered with the kind of sense of nervousness in the costumes they are to be performing in. But now isn't the time to turn back, it was now time to get the show on the road. The stage was set and the curtain was up.

The stage was set upon an eastern temple on top of a mountain. For a community play, the set wasn't half bad. Sophocles played a man with high expectations, who wore a mask with a painting of a golden crown on it to represent his status as the emperor of the mountain. The soothing strumming of strings on a guitar in the background already had the audience hooked.

"The chiming winds blow, and the falling leaves dance before reaching the ground. If not the conditions trick me, it is the day. The day I must bestow my crown. Let the ceremony begin!"

Sophocles wanted to kneel into the floor, but the force and his measly legs caused him to thump his body onto the floor, the mask he wore contacted the wood stage, making a noise you would hear if the two sources collided together. The audience remained quiet, not so sure if the slip up was purposeful, or by accident.

The chanting drum and the skillful hand of a flute began, both Mallow and Lillie dressed up in a matching white and red pattern kimono walked from opposing sides to join the kneeling Sophocles, but Lillie ends up full fledged tripping herself into the ground like an irresistible klutz. Mallow gasped, Sophocles tried avoiding eye context even behind the mask of his, trying to stay in character.

"Oowie..."

She squeaked, getting back up into her feet, before kneeling right next to Sophocles. The former sync of the girls ruined by the small trip she made to the ground. Next on stage, Kiawe and Bob dressed as the so called emperors guards, but the mask on Bob ends up falling onto the floor when the string holding it in the first place failed to keep on, so he squats and held it in place, no doubt blushing after an embarrassing moment.

"Oh Arcues... One mistake after another..."

He thought to himself, worried that the audience would find this play so repulsive and poorly funded for the quality of the way. Next, Ash and Saki, who had matching black and white samurai kimonos walked onto the stage No one said a word, expecting for another mistake to be followed up, perhaps making a concept here to really think about, but things were alright! Right until Ash started coughing from the dust in the air, it was so unfitting that some of the audience couldn't help but hold their heads in pity for the kids onstage.

"Help me. Please."

Saki looks at little Akemi, who stood right by her before the match could even begin. But before things could get any better, Lana scooted herself onto the stage, with a role so out of place, you could literally hear the stage itself let loose its own agony, of ALL the characters or roles anyone can have. Lana decided she wanted to be a tree. A TREE. A cherry blossom. She was quite satisfied with the pedals blowing from the soft fan within the stage, but the cast itself wasn't. The audience at this point wanted to leave, but decided to stick it out, to see if it could go anywhere, but if one more mistake were made, it would be all over and start to clear out. But luckily, Sophocles clears that silence, and resumed the play.

"Now then! Storm! Ghoul! Today you will be challenging each other for the crown and title as the emperor of all of Japan! My death is soon to be a burden, but I shall live long enough to see who shall reign supre-"

Sophocles belches right at the end of his line, the crowd disgusted with the result, a few people have gotten up from their seats and headed for the exit, in an desperate attempt to keep anyone from leaving, he made the gutsy move to skip over a few more lines and to get on with this staged duel. Ash and Saki traded looks as if Sophocles really just skip over his long paragraph and already commenced the fight, but before Pikachu and Akemi could even step in front of the stage, a gray cloud of smoke puffed the entire theatre, coughing and hacking popped like popcorn in a microwave. Which suddenly a net swoops in with good precision and swipes both Pokémon.

No surprise, Ash could hear the voice of Jessie taunt over,

"Sorry we couldn't stick around for this play, but we just have something important for us to deliver! Bye-bye~!"

For a vague second, it just didn't make sense to Ash or any of his comrades on stage, until the words echoed through his brain with the same voice that followed him over the years on his life as a Pokémon trainer.

"Team Rocket! We can't let them get away! Come on you guys!"

The fog clears up in the stage a little bit, which Ash leaped off the stage like a heroic character who sprinted into the heart of the battlefield. Those around him questioned if this was an actually heist or if this was a serious play to consider to stick around for, Saki and the rest of the class followed, everyone within the theatre couldn't help but watch this whole plot unravel.

"Perfect idea you two! We really did fool an entire building of a pathetic play and smothered us both the Twipes Pikachu and Mimikyu!"

The villains, still remained in their costumes ran out of the theatre, laughing out their own cleverness to trick the building of an actual play. But from behind, Jessie, James, Meowth and Wobbuffet all of a sudden were barraged by a vicious Peck from none other than Lucky, just enough time for the heros to arrive to the scene.

"Stop it right there! Give us back our Pokémon!"

Saki stomped forward, lightly blushed to be standing in the middle of the street wearing eastern-inspired clothing from a dressing room. James shook his head and stuck his own tongue at those kids, taunting them in the making. Murmurs quivered behind the class, Sophocles peeking back, all those said people out in the middle of something that only the class would be involved, but hatched an idea that may turn the table into his favor. He kneeled down on the ground, and spoke in the same emperors voice back within the theatre.

"This is the true test my Samurais. You must work together and best these bandits from stealing my thrown. Conquer and you shall claim your rightful position as the emperors of Japan!"

The crowd gasp, the plot twist was even more interesting then whatever was going on back in the classroom, his classmates began to play along, the girls kneeled and the boys had straightened backs. Ash and Saki took out Pokeballs. The Litten duo returned to the field.

"I don't believe it, these people believe we're still rolling."

Meowth looked past the class and watched the people as their faces were in awe.

"Who cares? This is my time to shine! Now is the day we show off our skills and I shall-"

"Nah this part is long enough! Litten Scratch!"

"Uhh, what she said! Scratch too!"

With the combined effort, the net ripped open, freeing both Pokémon from the trap.

Jessie was full fleshed disgusted that she was cut off by Saki of all people, but before she could take out Mimikyus Luxury Ball, Beware leaped off of the building behind them and swooped them all in its grasp, walking away from the crowd of people. After a moment of silence, Mallow breathed in the relive and spoke.

"You both have done it. Thank you for your inspiring courageousness. My emperors."

She kneel-bows, which Sophocles and Lillie joins her, Kiawe and Bob take a knee to the two, Lana didn't do anything because she still remained as a tree, but everyone else clapped like crazy for the unique turnabout of this play.

"Hey Saki, the Littens are back at it again! Maybe we can grab them something to eat, and maybe we can-"

"Yeaaaaaaaha-no. Maybe some other time. This has been a long day. Let's chance and get home."

The kids returned to the theatre, while the audience simply left for home as the sun began to set, putting an end to the day like any other.
