Corrina looked at Neil blankly, the water from the pool laid on her body stagnant.
"Huh? Why are still here?" She said almost lifeless.

(Oh shit! I broke her!) Neil panicked.
"Um, Corrina my badge?" He asked nicely.

"Oh sorry, I almost forgot it, the badge!" Corrina hands the badge to Neil, "This is the spiral badge it increases the defenses of all of pokemon as well as allowing your pokemon to use Surf, and here's a gift from me TM18 rain dance, you want anything else?" She said in a bossy tone.

"Nope, that's plenty, thanks Corrina" Neil expresses his gratitude and bows.

"You really are a genius, no wonder I lost to you, but I won't give up, I'll beat you someday" Corrina winked at him as he headed out of the gym.

As soon as he stepped outside of the gym, his phone rang out, this was Amala calling him.
"Hey Neil, remember we're supposed to meet up in the sunlight Inn, also I've got something for you, something that could help your project".

Motivated, Neil rushes into the Inn south of the gym and meets his colleague sitting on one of the chairs listening to the news.

«The Cyenn region's first champion has been crowned, before this there wasn't even a pokemon league here, but hopefully this is the first step to development»

Neil greets Amala and the two begin discussing.
"Congrats on your fifth gym badge, as a gift here take this map" the blue-haired woman hands over a dusty old map to Neil.

"Thanks. This map... It's pretty banged up, where you get it" The guy said trying not to sound ungrateful.

"My researchers at the Covelite ruins found it inside that mural we looked at, it has something to do with the secrets of mega evolution, but it's quite damaged".

"Hmmm, I see, well I'll have sort that out later on my journey". Neil said as he put the map in his bag.

"I'm sure you can, you're a genius after all, also take this HM, it's surf it should allow your aquatic pokemon to swim you across bodies of water " Amala sited.

After a few more exchanges Neil left Amala to rest a bit in the inn and headed to oleander city for his 6 gym badge, he felt the need to wrap up his gym challenges as fast as possible now.

North of the beach Neil managed to catch a water type star fish Pokemon that carried him from the Carragreen path to the vlva path and then when the sun was about to set, he stopped his sea voyage at the quiet town of Purslane village.

The town was big with numerous story buildings around, however the people seemed scarce and peaceful, however a few individuals were acting odd, wearing white clothes and dark sunglasses while moving around secretly.

Neil spoke to a few individuals here and learn that a few years ago a trainer by the name Leon stopped an organization by the name of "Dark workers" from taking over but a few members are still around observing.

The next day Neil continues on his journey l, going through the Hyacinth path which to no surprise, had a bunch of hyacinth flowers around, the scent of the flowers made Neil smile as it was a pleasant scent.

Before long a familiar face came into Neil line of vision.

(Ugh, it's him), as the scientist wantedto take a path across the individual, the person in question rushes towards Neil at full speed.

"Hey professor! Remember me! It's Trevor! The prosecutor gave me back my original Pokemon to use, so now I want to test if you're strong enough to face the shady!" The loud detective said.

"Oh, like carrying the entire double battle back then wasn't enough" Neil rolled his eyes and brought out his pokeballs for a battle, and so did Trevor.

"Come out"
"Meowstic! You're up!"
"Mienshou, I choose you!".

Neil sends out his starter while Trevor sends out a cream and purple colored fighting weasel.

"Let's start with a little protection, use light screen" Neil shouted.

"Not a chance" Trevor stated, "mienshou go behind them and use circle throw"

The weasel quickly got behind the cat and flung it back at Neil, the cat then switched places with Umbreon in the battle, this caught Neil off guard allowing Trevor to get another move in.

"Now mienshou! Brick break!" Trevor yelled.

"Miiiiiieeeeeen!" The weasel delivers a powerful chop to the head of the black fox doing super effective damage.

"Don't let up, another brick break!"
"Umbreon counter it iron tail!"

The two pokemon attacked at the same time however Umbreon couldn't withstand another hit especially with this one doing critical damage to it's already injured head, however it managed to get a clean slash at Mienshou's left hand.

"Return Umbreon! Crobat go!" Use air cutter" Neil continues.

"Dodge it" Trevor tells his partner, but despite the weasel's speed the speed of literal air blades are faster and make short work of it.

"Shoooou!" Taking on the full load Mienshou faints and Trevor sends out his next pokemon.
"Gardevoir, I choose you!" Trevor sent out a whit and green humanoid pokemon with a red spike Popping out from

"Get in close and use poison fang!" Neil shouts.

"Bbbbbaaaatooo!" Crobat latches on to Gardevoir arm and sank it's teeth in.

Trevor smiles as he sees crobat fixed in place."Finish it with a point blank Psychic Gardevoir!"

"Garrrrdevoiiir!" Gardevoir launches a psychic attack that knocks the immobilized bat on it's injured arm.

"Fine, Meowstic come through!" Neil sends back his starter.
"Use thunderbolt!"

"Cover the field with Toxic Gardevoir!" Trevor orders.

The humanoids spins around spreads purple goo all around severely poisoning the cat while in turn taking heavy damage from the thunderbolt.

"Meowwww" the cat cries as her energy is continually drained by the poison.

(Tch, She won't last for long) "Meowstic use one more thunderbolt!" Neil said ferociously.

"Counter it with Dazzling gleam!"Trevor retaliated.

The two powerful psychics launched their attacks at it other, however instead of colliding the attacks grazed each other and both landed critical hits knocking out both pokemon.

"Return Gardevoir!" Trevor said recalling his pokemon back, "That was an awesome performance".

"Meowstic come back", Neil did the same, he was down to his last pokemon while Trevor still had two left so he thought up a new strategy....... «Total offense».

(This guy is as hard headed as ever, so I'll just need to pound it harder!), Mega Blaziken you're up!" Neil sends out his strongest Pokemon.

"Blaaaazzee!" The flaming chicken shouts in anticipation.

"Pyroar, I choose you!" Trevor sends out a fire lion pokemon to battle, "use crunch!".

"Counter with double kick!" Neil reacts and Blaziken kicks the lion twice with outstanding speed knocking it out instantly.

"Tch, guess I'll have to use my trump card, Scizor! I choose you!" Trevor sends out his last pokemon a bipedal red ant pokemon pincers for arms, it was roughly the same height as he was.

"Scizorrrr!" The ant yells.

Now I'll show you the power inherited from my master! Mega evolve Scizor!" Trevor takes out his police badge and reveals it to have a key stone embedded in the center, the stone reacts to Scizor's scizorite(mega stone) and transforms it's pokemon, making it's pincers even sharper.

"Heh, that won't save you, Blaziken is a permanent mega so she's stronger! Use blaze kick!" Neil shouts as his pokemon rushes the ant with a fiery foot.

"Aerial Ace, Scizor!" Trevor shouts and the red ant slashes at Blaziken with white aura covered pincers damaging her super effectively.

"What?! No way that bug is faster!" Neil was confused by the sudden turn of events.

"Heh, Scizor and I have been training for years to improve his speed stats, now low and behold, the perfect speed EVs!" Trevor yelled with all his strength, "Continue on with a flurry of aerial aces!"

(EVs... Effort values, the strength gotten from countless battles, guess Trevor is a pro trainer after all however), "If you think Blaziken won't surpass her current speed then you're mistaken! Blaze kick!"said Neil.

The two pokemon launch attacks at each other, matching blow for blow, pincer vs claw, the clash illuminated the entire forest with red and white light until.

"Blazeee!" The chicken jumps up into the air.

"One final attack! Full power! Double blaze kick!" Neil shouts as Blaziken lunges at the Ant with two flaming feet at high speed.

"I won't let you! Scizor! Use X aerial ace!" Trevor commands and Scizor combines two of his moves to create a power green cross cutting attack that soars through the sky and collides with Blaziken.

A huge dust cloud appears as the two pokemon clash one final time, and as it settles... The winner is revealed.

Blaziken stands triumphant as Scizor collapses and reverts to his normal form.

Trevor recalls his partner and so does Neil.

"We'll that for sure shows you can defend yourself " Trevor says as he rubs the back of his head.

"Tch, Stubborn fellow" hissed Neil.

"Remember, the shady has ears everywhere, that's how they know everything, I need your help since you're a brilliant scientist after all, you stand a chance against the scoundrel!" Trevor continued to rant.

"Why are you so obsessed the Shady anyway, it's like the only thing on your mind" Neil asked as the subject was beginning to irritate him. "Is it because you're a detective?".

"No... Not that all, 2 years ago, the Shady killed my master, he thought me every I know and the shady murdered him in cold blood... I'll get my revenge by bringing them to justice!" Trevor proclaimed.

Neil looked at the detective's pure eyes and smirked (Guess he's not Completely bad after all).

"Alright, professor I'm sure we'll meet again soon, and hopefully that's when we'll take down the shady" Trevor says this as he walks away into the forest.

"..., Guess I'll keep going to, my next badge should be around the corner" Neil said as he stretches and keeps moving forward to the next destination.
