Colchicine city
For what seemed like days Neil had finally reached the evergreen city and true to it's name every building in the grassy environment were giant brown trees.
No building were concrete, all were natural and nobody seemed annoyed by this.
Neil was a man of science he didn't hate it but staying in this setting made him wary so he wanted to get the gym badge as soon as possible and leave this place.

The supposed gym was the biggest tree in the city however written on a dark brown plank was GARDEN this confused Neil so he decided to ask the 2 individuals standing in front of the entrance.

A man wearing a white suit with dark pink hair addressed another younger looking man in a green hoodie with white hair.

"Thank you Slater" the man in white said "These seeds are just what I needed" he smiled holding a brown bag of berry seeds.

"Your welcome Mr Wind, it's my pleasure spreading the love of plants to others" the man 8n a hoodie smiled back.

They seemed like good friends but Neil didn't have the patience to wait,
"Pardon me" he spoke out.

Wind turned around and gave a 5 second stare to Neil before saying....
"Ah!.... Your the trainer Jacob mentioned, wild purple hair and a lab coat! Neil!" Wind said open mouthed (you wouldn't expect that from a gentleman).

(That spy guy! What rumors has he been spreading about me?!) A vein popped up on the left side of his forehead.

"So what brings you here? Gardening tips?" Wind said as he touched his pink hair.

"you're also a Gardener?!" Slater asked as green stars appeared in his eyes.

"Ummm no, I'm here for the badge, not interested in nature stuff, why would I want tips on how to put a seed in the ground anyway" Neil made apparent.

"Oh, you've got challenger then, Slater" Wind scratches his head.

"Tsk! If you don't like gardening that's your problem, get in when you're ready!" Slater said as if he was fighting with Neil.

Slater then enters the giant tree and slams the door 'bammm!'.

Wind laughs a bit and says
"Wow someone's pissed, yah I would be too" wind said with a strange smile.

"Seriously?!" Neil said surprised.

"Just kidding, anyway have this, it's a micro emitter, it Should help in splicing DNA if you ever need that" Wind said as he handed Neil a small device.

"Thanks but why?" Neil asked curiously.

"Just a small gift, Jacob and I are located in Hola town, visit if your free, bye professor" Wind waved and left town.

(What a strange man, well I better move to the gym)

Inside of the big tree was a giant garden with plants, fruits and flowers of different colors.
Any normal person would find this beautiful but Neil just wandered which one would create a good tonic for sale.

There was a gym maze in the form of a hedge but Neil just cut through everything nonchalantly and met a very pissed off gym leader Slater.

'Sighhhhhhhh!' "I'm a gardener first and a gym leader second, people often think grass type Pokemon are weak, their wrong, grass types draw energy from the earth, how? Cause of roots!
Let's see how your science deals with my roots in a 1v1!" Slater said full of energy.

"Alright then I'll use....'poooop!' " Neil wanted to pull out Blaziken however.

"Snoooooverrr!' snare the Snover came out instead.

"You want to battle? Well, since you are an ice type too, fine" Neil agreed and snare to his position on the battle field.

"Show em your roots Tangrowth!" Slater sends out what looks to be a monster made out of dark purple vines with two big eyes, red finger tips and red feet, it was the same height as it's trainer creepy.....

Neil took his Pokedex and scanned
"Tangrowth the vine Pokemon
A grass type
It ensnares it's pray by extending it's arms like vines, losing a limb or two doesn't bother them as they grow back"

The Battle took place however the main issue Neil has was Tangrowth defense Everytime snare would freeze a part of it's body, the vine Pokemon would plant roots into the ground cut off the frozen part and regrow it.

This was very frustrating and the worst part was Snare didn't have enough power to stop that strategy.

(I'm screwed) Neil thought to himself as he watched the back of a tired Snover.

"Sno sno sno" Snare was panting, he's energy wasn't enough he cursed his own weakness.

"Finish it with nature power!" Slater smiled as he gave this command.

"Tannnngrowwtthhh!" The vine beast put both hands on the ground and the earth around Snare began to glow green until.

'boooooom!' the growth exploded sending Snare back to his trainer.

"Damn it!" Neil said in frustration as he recalled his Pokemon.

"Hahahaha, fear the power of nature!" Slater said laughing.

This was the young scientist's first gym loss however.....
Neil calmed down and walked out of the gym and into the Pokemon center

After he healing Snare, the snow monster and Neil had a heart to heart.

"Listen I'm not angry, we still have a chance to win the badge but we'll need to change something" Neil said.

Snover looked incredibly sad as it sat looking at Neil.
Unable to understand it fully he asked his psychic cat Meowstic to translate.

Meowstic then said using a huskier voice "Feel free to use Blaziken, she's your strongest Pokemon after all, I'm too weak" meowstic said translating Snare's words.

Neil was torn between doing things the easy way(using Blaziken) or doing things the right way (showing Snare that his not weak).

On this journey he had learnt that a Pokemon is stronger when doing something it's passionate about if he killed Snare's passion by using Blaziken the snow creature was as good as useless then.

"Snare there are things only you can do and this is one of them! I need you okay!" Neil chose to utilize all his Pokemon even the weaker ones cause a weak Pokemon is strong in certain situations.

Snare was surprised but ultimately he understood what Neil was getting at.

From his right pocket Neil took out the micro emitter and a dried up leaf.
"This is entering mad science territory......... I hope Cybil never finds out what I'm about to do" Neil says as sweat drops from his forehead.

Neil returns full of confidence while Slater still looks pissed

"Come back for more already?" Slater taunted.

"I'll win this time, just wait and see! Snare let's go!" Neil sends out his ice type Pokemon

"Then I'll use Tangrowth again!".

The Battle started and once again Slater used the same technique.

"Tangrowth use Ingrain!" Slater ordered.

Knowing he would use the same trick Neil prepared a new secret attack
Counter with Frenzy plant snare!" Neil ordered and snare went to work.

"Snooooovvvv!" Snare's back exploded and 2 giant green vines came out and plunged into the ground
'grrr grrr grrr' the vines wrapped around Tangrowth's vines

"Tannnnnnn!" The vine monster cried as it's arms were being pulled until
'snapp!' snare pulled outTangrowth's arms from the very ground with his back vines.

"The hell?! No way snovers can't learn frenzy plant!!!" Slater shouted in confusion.

"Well thanks to science mine can! Now Snare use blizzard!" Neil ordered
(I spliced Snare's DNA with that of a Bulbasaur's giving him some qualities of a starter, I also decreased the cool down time of Frenzy plant to 10 seconds)

Steam cleared from Snare's back allowing him to attack again and he released a gust of frozen wind
"Veeerrrrrrrrrr!" The ice creature yelled as snow engulfs the grassy battlefield and covers Tangrowth.

"Damn it, clear the storm with nature power!" Slater yells.

"Tannnnnnn!" A bright green light emerges from beneath Tangrowth's feet clearing all the snow however...

"Snare now Ice punch!" Neil yells and Snare sprints towards the vine Pokemon.

"Snoosnoosnosnoosnooverrr!" Releasing punch after punch of icy doom Snare completely dominates the Battle completely until....

"Tan.........gr..." The mighty vine Pokemon succumbs to the frost and faints(ICE>GRASS)

"No Tangrowth!!!!" Slater yells as he rushes to his fallen partner.
"You did great buddy thank you" Slater thanks his Pokemon and returns it to it's ball.

"Snooooo!" Snare out of nowhere begins to glow light blue.

"Seriously! An evolution?!" Neil shouts in surprise yet again his Pokemon surprise him.

Snowflake escape from his body, as he grows bigger, his arms and feet get muscular as his belly also grows bigger making him slower, his head is now completely white with his black scar and purple eyes, 4 spikes appear on his back and his tail is now the shape of a small Christmas tree.

"Abomasnowww!!!!!!!!" Snare cries happily spreading snowflakes in the air.

It's blizzard attacks can cover an entire mountain, in rural areas they are known as Ice monsters.

A brief memory of Burvine mountain returns to Neil's mind and he laughs a bit
"Congrats Snare!" He says smiling.

"Bommbommasnow!" Snare gives a thumbs up with his 3 fingers.

Slater approaches Neil with a less pissed off expression.

"I lost the battle the moment I let you cut Tangrowth roots, I admit defeat here the Bud badge is yours" Slater hands the badge to Neil.

"Alright my 4th badge, 4 more to go!" Neil happily hold the green and silver tree shaped badge to his face.

"Well you see, science wins this round
Tree hugger" Neil gives a Cocky smile pissing off Slater.

"Why you!!! I ain't giving you my TM giga drain for that!!!" Slater expresses with an angry face.

And those the 4th gym is conquered, Neil is definitely proving himself to be a good Trainer
