A Event that happened years before
Y/N's Adventure....

A few years ago from now, a war sparked among Kanto and another region known as Hoenn. Kanto was later joined by the Kingdom of Sinnoh and Hoenn by the fledgling [Verity Republic]. The war took place among the few unfortunate regions of the world. This war was known as The Great Pokémon War. It was also the first known war to include Pokémon into their battles.

The war was caused by multiple fairs that happened from Kanto and Hoenn's expansions, Kanto acquisition of Dewford island, Kanto seizure of saffron international organization.

Men had no choice but to join, mothers, elders, and kids stayed back at home and took care of Kanto. Causalities were high, Hospitals increase and criminal rate increase and children soon were given more rights, by age as long as they tame or own a Pokémon.

Among this war that cause such change within the world was one pilot sergeant that took part in this battle. His name was...

LT Surge POV

Within the beckoning clouds of war a green plane with and American striped paint against the side flew high into the air. A brave muscular man took a glimpse at the vanilla creamy clouds along with his allies that were also in planes, this squad was his air force platoon. He gave out a signal with his hand to his allies and they nodded and followed up behind as he soar down. The group came down aiming sight in a territories fortress. The lieutenant pointed at the dark territory and followed up with a signal.

Ruthless commander: "Hmm? Diving down my territory, fufuu! Then come you fools! My pawns will die by their country!" The commander swift his arm, and his soldiers fire missiles. Lock on the target at hand the missiles soar high into the air at maximum speed.

Swiftly dodging Surge was fortunate to evade with a 360 barrel roll.

A plane blown up behind Surge as a caring allied lost their life. Sent off into a fury rage Surge pursuit forward ignoring the plan entirely.

"Lieutenant! Wait!" A close friend of his and partner and crime barked out following Surge. And explosion boom behind Surge's plane. In terror to see the chipped off left wing, soaring down under the clouds, everything turn red for Surge.

LT Surge: "Why you die!!!" Surge lost all focus as his rage took over him he fired all in the held carrier blasting the fortress down. But Surge got two close as a turret fire putting a number of bullet shells underneath Surge's plane. Surge dive down soaring sightly above the water, as he rose up causing a mirage of water, the turrets fire at the water, to an empty wave. Surge came twirling and firing down at the base as he dive and ascend immediately dropping behind a bomb.

Ruthless commander: "Bwaahh!! Damn you!!" An explosion boom from the fortress. Lieutenant Surge won the war but to what cause, as he tried to make his escape one of the soldiers grab a rocket launcher with his dying breath firing it at Surge's plane. To his success he hit Surge's left wing.

LT Surge: "Agh!! Damn it!" Surge skyrocketed down eighteen meters away from the fortress but not the battlefield. Surge took a deep breath, as the plane crash down. Surge had ninety seconds to escape before the plane engulfed in flames. Surge rolled out but in pain he couldn't mode his leg. He crawl to see two of his allies still alive but injured on the ground. "Hey!" Surge manage to pull all the strength up to stand. "Don't you wanna make that luxury cruise you can't die yet. And you don't you want help those kids get around, you said you'll make the best bicycles this region will ever know of. So get up! ... please... I'm sorry."

Surge looked down to see a short, chubby rodent Pokémon, covered in yellow fur with two horizontal brown stripes on its back. It's cover it's small mouth, and lower it's pointed ears with black tips. Weeping brown eyes over pity for the man. It sparked up its red circle cheeks, pondering over what to do.

LT. Surge: "Get outta here it's dangerous here." Surge said to the Pokémon trying to scarred it off but it only led to more electric Pokémon to join in. Sudden Surge eyes widen to hear the cocking noise of numerous of guns. Surge was silent to be surrounded by a large army of enemy survivors with the ruthless commander being one of them. He grin with a grim stare.

Ruthless Commander: "Aye yah hahaha! Yes! Lieutenant Surge from the U.S to side with Kanto. You was a fool to posed me but it's only natural after all. When things got real countries had to choose sides and unfortunately yours chose the wrong side. You had no choice to fight for your country after all. So I'm giving you a proposal, become my pawn or died in this pit of a waste that you are."

Surge thought of one thing, if he survived he would devote his entire life to cautious to never let others suffer over his reckless ever again. Surge remain silent slit blood at the ruthless commander.

The ruthless commander eye twitches in fury rage he laughs before rising his hand into the air hauling fire. "Then die then!

????: "GYAOO!!" He slowly waver his hands down confirm to execute when he and everyone there suddenly heard a roaring sound. There eyes widened as the electric Pokémon made out a battle cry of anger.

Ruthless commander: "Bwahaha!! Then you can die too! You little RATS!!" He told his men to point their weapons at the Pokémon. But it suddenly started raining extremely hard. The sky turned dark and the cry returned once more.

????: "GYAOooo!!"

Ruthless Commander: "Blah what the hell!?" When a struck of lightning whitening vision. A bird appear before them.

??????: "Gyaoooooo!!!!"

"After that day I realize I lost on who I should really be. I forsaken who I am and even did the unforgivable... I devoted my whole life into that day, to my actions and even still after my mistakes.... But still!

Even after all the sins I've committed, I will guide this kid, not to follow my footsteps

Jim Gai halted Y/N before he approached Surge.

Jim Gai:"I didn't get to tell you this last time so allow me to this time, Champ in making! Lt.Surge has a nickname. People refer to him as the Lightning American! He's an expert on electric Pokémon! Birds and water Pokémon are at risk! Beware of paralysis too! Lt.Surge is very cautious! You'll have to break a code to get to him!" Y/N nodded and smile he made a serious stare as he approached the Gym leader's arena.

LT Surge: "So ... you actually came back. Ha, this pipsqueak kid."

Y/N: "I came for one thing and I'm not leaving until I earned it!"

Pikachu: "Pika..chu!"

Misty: "You can do it Y/N!!" Misty holler from the stands next to Jim Gai, and Brock.

Brock: "I wonder were Green went off too? I'm sure she doesn't wanna miss this?"

Misty: "Don't worry about that annoying little brat, she'll come around sure, I guess."

Brock: "That's —"

Jim Gai: "shh, It's starting."

LT. Surge: "You won't live long in combat! Not with your puny power! I'll tell you, kid, electric Pokémon saved me during the war! But you won't be so luck! They zapped my enemies into paralysis and I'll do the same to you!"

Surge twirl his Pokéball summoning spherical Pokémon that resembles a Poké Ball with eyes and minus the button.

Jim Gai: "So he's using three this time. Now he's showing more respect.

Y/N quickly followed up summoning out his Squirtle.

LT. Surge: "Sonicboom!" The voltorb launches shock waves towards Squirtle that had no choice but to tuck it's self in its shell due to the piercing speed.

Y/N: "Quick! Water gun!" Squirtle still in its shell quickly spin around releasing water from the openings of its shell.

LT. Surge: "Do a 360 barrel roll!" Voltorb following the command of his code spinning its body while taking in squirtle's water gun.
It's Not very effective...

LT. Surge: "Now take position! Shock wave!!" Surge flex with a stylish counter posture, as his Pokémon in sync reposition it's self blasting squirtle away.

Y/N: "QUICK! Dodge!!" Y/N beg but Surge glare.

LT. Surge: "YOU CANNOT ESCAPE!!!"Squirtle eyes widened, unable to even see the attack coming it quickly tuck its self into it's shell. But the super effective attack strikes the squirtle with a quick jolt of electricity. Squirtle still tucking inside it's shell was knock cold asleep. "Shock wave is a fast and unavoidable electric attack! It Zaps the foe with a jolt of electricity that never misses. Bringing squirtle in this war was a crucial mistake it would never survive this cruel world with reckless decisions such as THAT!!"

Y/N: "I Know!! But still I didn't wanna leave squirtle out and hurt it's feelings like I did pikachu..."

Pikachu: "Pika?" Pikachu lower it's ears while looking up at Y/N.

Y/N: "It's fine pikachu and I'm sorry." Y/N pulled out his Pokéball returning squirtle in. He quickly pull out another bring forth Mankey.

Mankey: "Mank!!" Mankey immediately gotten anger that it's opponent was a ball.

Y/N: "I'm sorry Mankey but I need you to Mega Kick that ball!"

LT. Surge: "Not before it take a Zapping dose of Shock Wave!! Charge!!" Mankey eyes widened, unable to even see the attack coming. However Mankey block the incoming attack being push back but not downed. Mankey blew a fuse becoming quite interesting in playing Soccer with this voltorb. It quickly dash Voltorb kicking it into the air and catching it with another kick. "Quickly shock wave that puny it another dose.

Y/N: "Mankey!!" Y/N cried out but it was too late. It struck Mankey, however being called a puny was Surge's biggest mistake. Surge suddenly had to tilted his head over to dodge a incoming fainted voltorb.

LT. Surge: "Well done what expected from just pure guts, however guts and nothing else will lead to mistakes and eventually one that can not be fix! Is that all you have to offer! If so this badge will never in up in that case.

Y/N: "We'll see about that!"

LT. Surge: "Now I'll show you a Pikachu well train!" Surge

Misty: "Oh no he didn't!"

Jim Gai: "Well Surge always had the pikachu family ever since he was saved in the war. I'm sure Y/N was expecting this. That's why... he will make the right decision."

Pikachu: "Pikachu!" Pikachu look up at Y/N sparking up its cheecks.

Y/N: "Not that one Pikachu you know what we came here for so just save it buddy, besides that's just a trap." Surge noticed Y/N taking more control of his team and smirk.

LT. Surge: "Hmm...  Are you scared puny! Don't worry about it I'll zap all your Pokémon to the point pikachu would have to come out!"

Misty: "Geez what's with him! He's so rude."

Jim Gai: "If a pro trainer let an amateur break off his a-game, then he's not worth making to the big leagues. So if Y/N can see that then..."

Mankey: "Mannnn!" Mankey sudden got furious with Surge dispute being weakened only for Y/N to pull out its Pokéball returning it back in.

Y/N: "Sorry bud I can't let you lose control like that I need you after all. Go Charmander! Ember!!"

Charmander: "Char!" Charmamder emerges from Y/N's Pokéball following up with shooting pallets of flames at Surge's Pikachu.

LT. Surge: "What?!" Surge was surprised to see charmander move so quickly so fast from when it came out that it was a dirty trick.

Misty: "Really Y/N!? you can't—!?"

LT. Surge: "Bwahahaha well done! You even burn my friend."

Surge's Pikachu: "Pikaaaa!!"

Pikachu: "Pika pee!!" Pikachu laughs at the side while sticking its tongue out.

Y/N: "That's not very nice Pikachu. Now! Finish em Charmander!"

Charmander: "Char!" Charmander uses ember once more knocking out Surges Pikachu."

Misty: "Awsome! Now all Y/N has is one more Pokémon to beat!"

Brock: "But still it's the one that defeated him... he's Raichu.

LT. Surge: "I think you're starting to get it but you're still steps behind reality that cold world that would take everything from you in a blink of an eye!! You prepare to stop that from happening!!"

Y/N: "And I can I won't hide from this world!"

LT. Surge: "Then prove your ready! Prove you won't let the darkness take away your dream...

"Show em danger! Quick in one zap, strike me down until there's nothin left but a puny! Rule the day! With a volt they can only deal with in cation!! Raichu I choose You!!!"

Surge free a bolt of lightning into the area as Raichu emerges.

Raichu: "Rai!" With one battle cry electricity spark, until it turn blue. Y/N hands glittery but he took a deep breath and held a firm grip, he knew throwing pikachu in there along was suicidal was he had to prepare first in only one way caution.

Y/N: "Bulbasaur Let's go!!"

Bulbasaur: "Bulba! Bulbasaur!"

Y/N: "Leech seed Go!" Y/N co

LT. Surge: "Oh no you don't! Quickly attack with caution!" Raichu evaded bulbasaur's leeches smack quickly in the face with a extremely fast attack that always strikes first.

Y/N: "Tch! Again!"

LT. Surge: "Get em good! Quick attack!" Raichu once more hit bulbasaur with a extremely fast attack that always strikes first. But Surge's eyes widened when Y/N smirk.

Y/N: "You forgot to say with caution!" Bulbasaur held Raichu after being struck, holding me with its vines. The leech seed was immediately equipped to Raichu slowly sucking down its health a turn. "Now Sleep powder."

LT. Surge: "Double Team to rise your evasion!" Raichu created illusionary copies of itself. But it wasn't a problem for Bulbasaur who was still held onto it the original.

Misty: "I don't get it? That was a good chance to use thunderbolt?"

Brock: "It's because it doesn't matter if he did electric moves aren't very effective on grass types."

Misty: "But still."

Jim Gai: "Not at all, you see Surge looks at Pokémon battles as a war it's self sure double team was useless then but I'm pretty sure Y/N knew exactly why Surge did that since his Pikachu also knows double team."

Brock: "Raichu will still be reward the evasion boast, Surge knows that Y/N is trying to weaken Raichu with effects from leech seed while using his own Pikachu to use double team to dodge all its attacks."

Misty: "Oh no!"

Jim Gai: "It's fine Y/N was able to put Raichu to sleep so he got a little time."

Y/N: "Come back Bulbasaur!" Go Charmander! Use smokescreen!"

Charmander: "Char!!" Charmander releases an obscuring cloud of smoke to cover both LT. Surge and Raichu.

LT. Surge: "So you plan cloud me to the depths of hell! But this isn't no where near the hell I've face to always sleep with one eye open!! And so does Raichu!"

Y/N: "WHAT!!??" Y/N was in shock to see a beam of electric strike charmander putting a hole in the dark cloudy area vanquishing the cloud immediately. Charmander dose a back flip landing on its feet, only for lightning bolt mouse stricken deep into charmander with a quick attack.

LT Surge: "Shock wave!!" While having a grip on charmander it explode in electricity smashing charmander up the ceiling, as Raichu lands back down. Charmander falls into the red electric light that sucks em back into its Pokéball.

Y/N: "Tch!" Do it Pidgeotto!" Y/N summons Pidgeotto who soars charges at Raichu.

LT. Surge: "You can't be serious you bring a bird to my lighting! You fool have you learn anything!? Shock wave!!" Before Pidgeotto could possible do anything Raichu struck it down with ease in one shock.

Pikachu: "Pika! Pi!" Pikachu fist pump really to jump in.

Y/N: "Okay Pikachu! I'm counting on you.

Pikachu: "Pika!" Pikachu pounced in as Surge laughs.

LT. Surge: "This again? You must have serious forgot! Your puny Pokémon can't win against Pikachu's evolution Raichu!"

Y/N: "Even so! Even if Pikachu can't win like this, Pikachu is not along those our friends beaten you down to this point, you can't one man army the world." Taken back Surge closed his eye and responsed with a smile.

LT Surge: "Lets finish this!" Thunderbolt!"

Y/N: "Pikachu double team!" To surge's surprise Y/N's Pikachu was faster. It used double team at the neck of time.

Pikachu: "Pika!" 

Raichu: "Rai?!" Raichu surrounded but still being zapped away of its stamina by bulbasaur kick in. It tried to use quick attack but charmander's smokescreen effect its sight.

This was Y/N's plan to break down Raichu with all his beloved friends as Pikachu effective finish em off. Surge smile as he knew this was the end was coming.

LT Surge: "You still can't dodge this Shock wave!!" Raichu perfectly closed in on Pikachu with a unenviable attack. But Pikachu parry the attack with Raichu surprise as Pikachu smirk. "It's time!

Y/N & LT Surge: "QUICK ATTACK!!" The two electric Pokémon dash side by side of each other clashing against each other at hyper speed. The two ran up the wall swift charging in on each other, Raichu vanish from Pikachu's sight upward appearing down with a quick attack however the leech seed weakened its aim barely scratching Pikachu. The two bounce off landing back from were they first clash in front of there trainers both gasping for air.

Y/N & LT. Surge: "Thunderbolt!!"  The two Pokémon charge everything they had into their spark blasting each other with everything they got. The two were in a electric surging clash. Pikachu was being push back as Y/N stare at the same defeat once more. Until he hear a certain feminine voice.

Nurse Joy: "You can do it!" Y/N look back from behind to see Green & Nurse Joy just coming in.

Green: "Come on Y/N I didn't go through the trouble of getting Nurse Joy only for you to lose.."

Y/N: "Nurse Joy!? NURSE JOY!! Aww man I can't lose now Pikachu unleash it all!" In sync Pikachu response breaking Raichu's Thunderbolt blasting through to Surge. As Pikachu's attack surpasses Rachui's Thuderbolt the blast of lighting burst through striking Racihu, it kept going hurling towards LT. Surge.

Surge stood still as the attack came his way within the flash of light Surge though back from when he was on the S.S Ann talking to the Captain of the ship ... .........

S.S Ann Captain: "Lieutenant can I ask ya something?"

LT Surge: "Hmph?"

S.S Ann Captain: "Why did you accept the role as Gym leader?"

LT Surge: "Well," Surge turned his head towards the window and stare into the sea and sky. "I guess it makes things easier, Maybe I'm doing it for a selfish reason, to continue the responsibility to be a leader of something, probably a obsession for power, well that was the feeling at first, But I realized something, I want the next gen to learn the lesson I didn't teach myself back then. I want them to know what, ... it means to be prepared.

S.S Ann Captain: "Hmmm, is that right? It sounds like to me you want kids."

LT Surge: "Annnddd it's about time for me to get outta here! Roger!"

S.S Ann Captain: "I was just joking! Hahaha!! Surge I know you'll succeed and that child will be ready for anything because you're the most cautious guy I know, now."

".... ...Yeah I remember now."

Y/N: "Awww!! Crap!! I messed up!!"

Green: "What have you done you kill him!!"

Y/N: "I did NOT!!"

Jim Gai: "He looks pretty dead to me."

Y/N: "Baaahh! Quit joking around Nurse Joy help!!"

Nurse Joy: "I'll see what I can do."

Jim Gai: "Don't worry about it, Mrs. Joy, I'll call Jenny."

Y/N: " Gwwwaaaa!!!!"

Jim Gai: "I'm kidding, look." Surge got back up and pat the dirt off of himself. As if the shock wasn't nothing. He returned his Racihu back into his Pokéball and walk up towards you he look as if he was about to punch you.

You and Pikachu gulp as you look into the gym leaders eyes.

Y/N: "Listen I didn't mean to-"

LT Surge: "Hahaha!! Now that's a shocker!

Y/N: "Oh...." Surge smile given out his Jean for a handshake. Y/N smile taken his hand shake.

LT. Surge: "You're the real deal kid! Now then, proof of survival of the war take the thunderbadge!" Surge pulled out a sparkle eight-pointed gold star with an orange octagon in the center. Y/N's eyes gotten watery!" Y/N smile looking back at Pikachu as  Pikachu jumped up doing a high five. "The thunderbadge cranks up your Pokémon's speed! It also lets your Pokémon fly lightning-quick anytime kid! You're special, kid! Take this!"

*Y/N was given the TM34 in the TM case.*

LT. Surge: "It's shock wave! Teach it to an electric Pokémon maybe that powerful Pikachu of yours."

Pikachu: "Pika?"

LT. Surge: "Yeah you! You've earn my respect puny, I mean super one! But a little word of advice kid! Electricity is sure powerful! But, it's useless against ground-type Pokémon! So be..."

Y/N: "Cautious."

Jim Gai: "Whew! That match was electric!"

Y/N: "Finally! We got the Thunderbadge!!"

Pikachu: "Pika Pi!! Pikachu cheerfully jumped up performing a stunt.

Y/N: "We did it and it only felt like ten months!!"

Green: "What are you talking about it only took you two days to get that badge here geez your so weird... but still your amazing as always!"
