Part 91. The Grand Reunion
The power of being one with this Pokémon. Witnessing his thoughts in real time as I watched him live countless lives, from the day he was born to the day he grew up. Violet came to me, because I was the only one he trusted.
He originally sought the help of the Tenth of Jack. One of the high ranked Apostles under the tutelage of Ensign. He brought upon himself his immense power and admired Jacks's determinative face to look death in the eye and laugh at it.
So he assisted Jack in taking on Trainers of his own and stealing other peoples Pokémon. All because he made a pact with the devil. With the hopeful promise that Violet would reunite him with his mother, but his real mother was not his natural birth parent. This was his story through his mind.
Violet never met his real mother and had abandoned him alone in the wild to fend for himself when he was only a young pup. He had no one, and there was not enough food to scavenge on Route Seven to help with his survival. Not until he met a kind Marowak, who took him under her wing.
The Pokémon was infertile and could not bare children of her own, so she took the opportunity to adopt him.
Marowak, took care of Violet along with another adopted sibling. That Pokémon was Cubone. Violets younger brother.
Cubone had no family either and couldn't remember where his flock had gone. He was tired and confused just as much as Gastly was at a young age.
Cubone looked up to Violet and admired his tenacity and courage under such trying circumstances. However, he was the polar opposite of Violet.
He was scared, afraid, and most importantly, a coward. Violet however, had learned to become more determined in the face of adversity. He learned early on how close to death he had become at the face of hunger, and after being a wailing and wandering soul for many years of his childhood. He discovered the kindness of Marowak along with his newly adopted sibling.
Marowak took them into her shelter in a small cave in the mountains on Route Seven just outside of Lavender Town. Providing them, fruits, worms and many other meals to satiate their hunger pangs. Cubone and Violet were grateful to her, and for a time had lived within her care for seven long years. The battles they endured together in the face of overwhelming nature had brought them close together as a family.
Once they were becoming acquainted with their new home. There was another adverse event that would alter the course of their companionship forever.
An excavation team outside of Route Seven were digging along the edge of the mountain. Their plan was to create a tunnel underneath the City of Saffron so that other trainers would be able to have a direct Route toward Celadon City underground.
This excavation machine ignited to life and began drilling a hole through the mountain. The humans were paving along the rough rocky throng that it caused a massive disturbance within their environment. Many Sandshrew, and Geodude fled their habitats, however, the drill was coming for theirs.
Violet reacted swiftly once their home's exterior was struck by the drill and levitated their bodies off the ground using his Psychic and Ghostly capabilities. They vanished out of view. Departing their crumbling home, they watched on in horror as the cave they once called home had been demolished before their eyes.
After migrating eastward, they wandered through the rocky terrain and with only one tree remaining before the exit of Route Seven.
A group of Team Rocket goons saw their opportunity to steal the Pokémon in front of them. They were desperate for money from their boss and sought to procure them both. However, Marowak fought back. Protecting her young before the group advanced forward with a net and a couple of extendable batons.
Team Rocket resorted to violence by beating her down with the weapons. Each of the goons struggled to net over the rare one they'd hope to obtain for the boss.
Suddenly after continually marring and injuring her further with each stroke of their weapons. Marowak had taken her last breath from those hits. Suffering death by the hands of her captors. An event that tore the family apart and had enraged Violet to anger.
He Cursed the two Rocket Goons and with his instinctive wrath had annihilated them to their doom. Collapsing their bodies violently toward the ground by a powerful gravitational force.
Cubone and Violet were the only family they had and just as opportunity had struck in times of trial. An older gentleman, who had a bald, shaven head, two handlebar mustache's around his lips and wearing black tidy shoes, tan khakis and a light green, green checkered, vest sweater. Appeared from before the crowd. His gaze at the site of the two humans and the Marowak on the ground certainly was a shocking sight to see.
"Good Lord, what on Earth happened here?" He analyzed the bodies carefully checking for any signs of life from each of them. Knowing the fate of the humans and the Pokémon they had suffered. The man turned to face the two Pokémon huddled together who both swelled to tears. Each of them crying out in mourning for the mother that they had all now lost.
"Oh dear, I'm so sorry about all of this..." He reached in obligation to help the poor young ones.
However, Gastly was not trusting of him either and hissed for the old man to stay back. Violet and Cubone lost everything, their natural parents, their foster parent and their home destroyed. Could you blame any situation that any orphan like them would ever experience?
Violet had grown to distrust humans so much that if he dared got any closer he'd use his deadly power against him.
"I know, you lost your mom didn't you?" Inquired the old man with eager softness. His eyes halfway closed as if trying to avoid the squint of the light.
The crying Cubone nodded and ran straight towards the old man's pant leg, clasping hold of his ankle, the poor Cubone buried his face and sobbed for the old man's generosity.
But Violet hissed at both of them. He was so upset at Cubone's lack of courage that all he did was pressure them both with a Nightshade.
"Wait, Gastly, listen to me.....!" It was too late, he felt betrayed, and the fact that Cubone had the audacity to run to a human and seek him for help after all the sacrifice mother and them had put them through. He levitated them off the ground with a powerful, fuchsia aura that surrounded them from his buzzed, gaseous body and tossed both of them further into Lavender Town, because if Cubone decided to be more of a coward and not defend himself and rely on pathetic humans. Why should he be involved further into his own self destruction? Being in the Pokémon world was survival of the fittest and it seemed that Cubone would never understand this. Cubone would rather be tamed by the humans in order to survive, Violet was on his own.
Wandering endlessly throughout the region, like a specter of vengeance. He wanted to find the ones responsible for the death of his mother. He wanted death upon them all and he made a vow that he would be their harbinger. He would later destroy many compounds of other Pokémon that were captured by Team Rocket throughout the region and rescued many that were caged against their will. Gastly didn't fear humans, he hated them for everything they had done and would do anything to stop Team Rocket from taking the same thing away from other Pokémon that they took from him.
However, once he got close to the borders of Pokémon Tower he couldn't see who it was but he sensed the voice of the one who called out to him in the other plane of existence.
"Do not worry my son..."
"Gass!?" He called out to mother.
"I've cursed this place so that it can be our home. Bring your brother to me.... And together, we'll haunt the people that destroyed our home, forever."
After this final declaration from the presence of mother. The gaseous being cackled with joy. He smiled with such wide, and dark satisfaction. His mothers declaration was his clarion call.
To find his remaining family member to reunite with them for an eternity. Marowak was alive and it was time to embark on finding his lost brother. If he was not in Lavender Town; he had to be somewhere close to home within Kanto's borders.
However, Violet grew weary and searched far and wide for his brother but couldn't find him. So he determined that it was an impossible task and Cubone could've been very far overseas after that old man had accepted him.
Then Jack appeared through the mist. His eyes gazed upon his very essence. Almost like he craved the very thing that Violet craved the most. Revenge for the loved ones that were once lost.
"You and I have the same goals. Join me in thwarting Team Rocket's hegemony by joining Team Love, and together, we'll find your brother." He said while reaching out with his Poké Ball in hand.
Violet was hesitant at first, but since this human gave off a powerful essence that he was connected to the Spirit World. He knew almost immediately that he would be the perfect human to help with bringing about Team Rocket's mutual destruction.
Gastly reluctantly joined Team Love for that purpose, but soon understood that their power threatened the lives of all the Pokémon on the Earth and grew distrusting of the leader Ensign who was in charge of the organization.
Violet knew what Ho-Oh's plans were and humans and Pokémon alike would face a doomed destruction if Ho-Oh was not stopped soon and saw me in Vermillion in the hopes to warn me.
He knew immediately that I was to be trusted, since I was the one that had defected from the organization, he sought to possess my soul in order to tell me the dangers of what was to come.
I was naive, but he grew to understand my fear because he sensed that same cowardice in Cubone within me. But instead of dismissing me out of hand, he sought to help me cope with my fear through the possession.
The destruction of the Pokémon world and the life he had lived to try and build my trust, no matter how I revolted against the truth of his visions. He knew that I needed to see this message. He knew that the world was about to turn if we didn't stop Ensign soon.
Violet then defected from his own Trainer in order to put an end to a conflict that would only fuel his mothers anger and that of the anger of the legendary Pokémon.
He told me that I remind him so much of his brother. A coward, yet he wasn't bothered. He helped me to face my enemy head on. To stare down death in the face and laugh at it.
And now that Violet had found his brother in Rock Tunnel. He grew concerned that Team Rocket and Team Love were about to excite The Mother of All Souls' harrowing anger by using his brother as bait to break the Curse and gain control of the Towers growing influence on the powerful Spirits of the damned that have been entombed within this place for hundreds of years.
Now I understand why you went to such great lengths Violet. To try and stop Team Rocket and get stronger to face your enemies. You wanted to get stronger for the sake of your family. What outstanding courage you have...
Suddenly, I saw two figures coming up from behind the staircase behind the group. Misty and Brock were quite shocked to see two familiar faces after such a long journey back from Celadon.
"Sorry we're late guys. Do y'all need a hand?" Exclaimed Yellow with excitement as he pulled his straw hat back to reveal his smile through the darkness.
".................."
Just as soon as Red came to a stop alongside Yellow, he pulled his cap up slightly and just as soon as Pikachu found a comfortable shoulder to rest on after taking the final step. His golden, brown eyes observed that I had changed in appearance and that my smiling gaze back at him was much more determined than ever before.
Their smile turned to shock as they noticed an aura about me that was different.
"Welcome back, you guys brought the item
that can see the Spirit Pokémon?" I asked with an unwavering smile.
"Leaf......"
I had finally become the thing that I feared about my past, only this time. I was in control, I was going to use my return of The Black Clover as a weapon against the very organization I have been so scared and hesitant to face for such a long time.
Then, a Spearow had perched itself on the chandelier above the gravestones. I looked upon him and did not once tremble, my fear and anxiety did not disappear, for I had seen the horror of that miraculous demon countless times that my Ornithophobia had been managed.
"Let's find Blue and Cubone together, and put an end to this wretched Curse once and for all." I commanded with a booming voice provided by Haunter's unique possession. I marched toward the fifth floor of the Tower to find the one friend who understood my anxiousness.
Stay strong Blue, please do not waver. I can feel Raticate's influence in the Spirit World. He is with you till the very end.
