Part 46. Blue's Reckoning

Exiting the office of the Captains quarters, Blue and the Captain meandered their way towards the main floor of the ship. Leaving the heaving disputes the Captain bore behind him as he bravely wandered by Blue's side, twitching with nervousness as to Solress's whereabouts. Blue wouldn't say a word, while walking in the hallway with the Captain straight towards the staircase that lead to the port bow ahead.

Blue's plan was to find the scientist and defeat him before he would be an impediment on our retrieval back to our home world. But this event in time would prove rather difficult; he needed to get serious about his opponent. Believing in his own philosophy, there was always a weakness to their battle strategy. He just needed to see it as he continued to reflect upon his loss from before.

This however, was proving to be more difficult for him to imagine. Solress had the power to defeat him with overwhelming strength, but this strength had to come at a cost.

"You plan to defeat him?" Inquired the Captain.

The boy nodded from his nervous inquiry.

"How!? He's got the whole Team by his side. Not to mention the financial backing of his leader, Giovanni."

"You think he's been amassing this much strength?" Quirked Blue with curious intent.

"Professor Solress has been growing with immense strength. He's been known for his use of Dragon type Pokémon that have the capabilities of going against the Champion's strength."

"Lance?" Inquired Blue.

"But he's been known for his power level's, surely he doesn't have that capability of being as powerful as him—

"Do not underestimate him Blue; he's been known to harness the power of legendary Pokémon. I told you that if you defeated him you would receive a reward. This is all dependent upon your strength and the strength of your Pokémon. If you defeat him. The smuggling of Pokémon will stop on my vessel and we'll have order." Said the Captain with serious tone.

The Captain sure was quick to switch gears from a nervous wreck to one of serious intent. He was aware of this kid's pompous attitude and Blue was conscious enough to know that's what made it difficult for him to defeat him in the first place. If Blue was going to get serious; he needed to level down and think about the possibilities that would happen if he released Pokémon in his arsenal with such magnitude.

Mewtwo was just one of many rare Pokémon that he had ever encountered. In fact there was not a single Pokémon that he felt rather perturbed by. Reflecting back on the event when Red, Yellow and I had witnessed the raw strength and power emanating from the creature when we had initially entered the StarWarp.

It became quite clear to Blue that this was probably not going to be very easy to take down Team Rocket as a whole after all. This sudden realization made him realize just how small he really was in this world. There was only one thing he needed to be sure of.

"I am aware that he is haughty and proud about his accomplishments. He is very much like me personality-wise in that respect. Captain, if you were to battle him and I was in your shoes. What other weaknesses would he hold in battle?" Inquired Blue with eagerness.

"You're asking me?" Asked the Captain with an stupid astonished look upon his face.

"You should be the one to think about that, my survival and the survival of my passengers and crew are at stake!—

"You're underestimating me Captain, I need to know these details because, if I am guaranteed to win this fight. I need to know what he relies on the most when it comes to strength. Battling is a strategy. If I am to look for another loophole in his weaknesses. I'll have a better shot at defeating him."

There was no denying what Blue was saying was correct. You can't go into a battle without the foreknowledge of what your opponent could do, otherwise you would be going in blind. Any form of knowledge would be a key beneficiary to accomplish your goals. Although precious time was needed before their final encounter. Blue was wise enough to ask such questions when he needed to meet his long term goal.

"I hope you are right Blue, we are counting on you to make it right. The thing is; I am not sure about how to really defeat him. Unless his reliance is on raw strength alone."

"Strength?" Thought Blue out loud.

There was no doubt that Solress would use his Dragonair to push his Pokémon's boundaries to their limits. It was the way the Professor commanded his Pokémon, the way he used their attacks.

"I saw the way he used his Dragonair in battle, there is one thing that is clear to me. When he used Dragon Rage he was pretty self reliant on it. He was determined to use that move to cause damage and remove all other options from the equation. If he planned to use this move to try and limit me in my options; he surely succeeded in doing so. If I am to truly defeat him Captain, I'll need the opening first. Once I have that. I'll be able to excel with speed." Blue continued.

"You're saying that you have a way to defeat him at the beginning stage?—

"What I am saying is that you can trust me. I am the grandson of the most renown researcher in the world. If there is anything that I can't do to try and defeat him. All that knowledge that was taught by him to me would have been wasted for nothing.

The Captain looked at the ground solemnly after hearing that declaration. He was surprised to learn that this ten year old boy belonged to his prodigy, Professor Oak. He would go to such great lengths to think through on his strategy and ease his fears so easily by his confidence? There was nothing that evoked that much confidence as much as him. Blue was even determined to accomplish goal oriented tasks, even at the cost of himself and the sake of his family name.

"Blue Oak?" Asked the Captain with somberness.

The boy turned and looked toward the quiet but nervous Captain with his large emerald eyes. Staring at him with intense purpose. The white bearded Captain wanted to be sure that if he had someone of that much influence. Would he be true to his request in being able to stop Team Rocket for good?

"Your convictions are much like your grandfather's. Professor Oak was a member of my squad during the Great Pokemon War that tore the two regions apart. I am amazed to see that you have the same blood running through his veins. Kid, your grandad was the greatest ally and researcher we had in order to defeat Love's Apostles."

The boy continued his walk up towards the final steps of the staircase, listening intently to this man's surprising story.

"There was not a moment that went by where the Professor would not have a strategy in mind. But you, you are his spinning image, you have the ability to predict and even gauge an enemies moves. Just like he did when he was just a soldier among our squad. You need to free your friends right?"

The boy nodded in response to his surprising question. Something was strangely motivating the Captain to remain strong and resolute. Was all this being nervous just an act? This man appeared to be a soldier. One who stood with his grandfather during the crosshairs of history. To Blue he often wondered, if they had a strong connection to each other when they fought together during the War.

As my friend cautiously approached a door at the top of the stairs that lead towards the port bow. The light permeated the darkness that clouded the boy's doubts. Seeping from the window with the determination of heaven chasing the darkness, and absolving his doubts with instant power behind the Captains words.

The light had adjusted Blue's lens and he could observe his opponent through the porthole. It was clear as day. The man was wearing a long lab coat and a red hair curl that fell in front of his ocular goggles. What was even more intimidating were the crowds of Team Rocket grunts by his side, as they all seemed to be looking for my friend eagerly aboard the ship.

"Blue, don't stop, whatever you do, don't stop."

The boy reached in to grab hold of a Poké Ball along his belt. Retracting its form to fit into the palm of his hand. The boy aggressively reached the door handle and pulled it out with swift grace as he marched towards his opponent. Blue courageously approached the aghast group with a menacing look upon his sharp emerald eyes.

"And whatever you do.... You give 'em hell."
