Part 43. Blue's Conflict

When we had met fate inside the StarWarp, all communications with Blue had ceased. The one trainer left in Kanto to fight off the threat was Solress. Being destined to face him down alone, toward my most sworn enemy.

The waves had begun to fall to calming waters and the storm was beginning to fade after the StarWarp had rocketed to a near stand still. Blue seemed dumbfounded that we had somehow disappeared. As if the machine vaporized us from within the cabin.

The room's atmosphere ceased to a quiet whisper as the StarWarp had hummed to a close. Solress, was grinning with wide satisfaction; his maddening stare had stupefied my poor rude friend the world over.

His emerald green eyes watched with intent anger, inquisitively studying the room around him. According to him, the machine had been switched off. But the only obstacle stopping him was the Professor himself.

Professor Solress was so overjoyed by the fact that his experiment was a success. All the fame in the world could not compare to all the amazing success of being able to allow humans and Pokemon to dimensional travel from one universe to another.

It truly was the most terrifying breakthrough the scientist had ever created and what was even worse, he had won from showcasing to us the greatest invention he had ever achieved in all of human history.

The problem now was the fact that he had lost his mind from fits of laughter and pitiful bursts of tears. The deranged man had truly realized that his goals in being able to show the world the true measure of his madness was what he cherished the most.

What was unfortunate for him was his constant need to be acknowledged. He was looking for someone, anyone, to praise him. But all there was before him were nothing but emptiness inside and an unnerving, quiet atmosphere from others aboard the ship. The man was pitifully alone.

"I have finally achieved what the world has to offer and you don't seem the least bit surprised that it was a stunning achievement?" Asked Solress with a squeak.

"Yeah, like Leaf, I don't care about you and your invention either. It's about time that you get off your high horse and come back to reality. Your audience has left you here pal. You're pathetic, weak and I ain't even the least bit impressed with the StarWarp—

"How dare you! I've worked real hard to realize the magnitude of this invention! Do you understand my hard work I have accomplished here!? The least you can do is at least show a bit more respect!"

"Respect? Ha! I'll praise the man who is selfless in his efforts to help both people and Pokémon alike. All I see from you is someone who is depressed, sad, a soulless shell of their former self. You have no self-esteem, you liked Leaf so much that you constantly relied on her opinions and had craved her attention, your expectations of a girl is astounding—

"Shut up! Dragonair, Ice-Beam!" Sneered the quirky man as the Dragon had elevated himself into position. Throwing out his neck in order to expel a beam of cold crystallized ice from out of his mouth.

"Watch out Wartortle!" Shouted Blue to his Pokémon on the wooden deck of the cabin.

The turtle was not fast enough to avoid a powerful blast of cold breezing air that had encased around his body so quickly, that it froze most of the Pokémon's movements around that cold hard shell.

"Water Gun Wartortle."

The shell had broke free from the ice with incredible response time and the creature hunched forward with his limbs facing behind his back. Wartortle expelled a powerful spout of fresh water straight at the Pokémon's eyes.

The brunt of the blast had nearly knocked the poor elongated Dragonair off balance but he was able to retain his stance. Gazing at the shell turtle Pokémon with a glare that would tare the ship by the seams.

"Dragon Rage!" Shouted the scientist to his Pokémon.

The beast proceeded to gather in light from within its mouth. His eyes glowed from the intense power that was becoming one with this Pokémon. Dragonair slipped out from his mouth the aurora colored beam straight toward Wartortle and Blue. Fire had accompanied the beam as the pressure had exerted itself against them.

Throwing them with aggravating force across four different cabin walls, the Dragon simultaneously bodied them both through four sheets of metal which truly had done a number on him.

Wartortle had been completely knocked out from this move, Blue however, was conscious but injured slightly from the attack proceeded from Solress's Dragonair. Blue remained prostrate on the floor beneath him. He needed to react quickly, time was running out; he could hear a slight disturbance of rock and metal being pushed aside from the massive slithering beast. Blue couldn't see where the Dragonair was going to appear from next, there was just too much debris to be able to account for where he would strike.

"Return Wartortle!" He shouted, while desperately retrieving his injured Pokémon from within the capsule.

My friend then reached into his bag pocket to seize another PokéBall to summon another within his party; he wanted to use this Pokémon against Red for a battle but this Pokémon was the only way Blue was ever going to survive a fight from the massive snake.

Gripping the ball with a tight clasp; he had tossed the ball into the low visibility before him. The ball bounced a couple times from the initial strike. Which was good news, of course; he could hear the ball release his new Pokemon's form. Despite having a hard time seeing him. Blue was certain this Pokémon would be reliable enough of a choice when it came to being able to sense the Dragonair around him.

The bipedal form that materialized from the harboring plastic had cat like ears perking from his cone shaped head. He had a tan appearance and brown plated armor around his limbs and torso. The Pokémon's tail was striped brown and tan near the tip and it looked to be pointing towards the sky as the Pokémon floated in midair. This use of mobility proved useful for this Pokémon. It certainly had no use for physically walking with his small three pronged feet. Relying mostly on his Psychic abilities to remain aloof above the ground.

Blue tried his very best to get up from that destructive bombardment summoned by Dragonair but it was no use, the boy was in immense pain. His own clothes were shredded from head to toe with cuts and bruises all over his body.

Blood trickled down from his head and oozed toward the ground. Having been struck from Solress's Dragon Rage amounted to an abrasion that was struck between his crown.

"I am in pretty bad shape."

"I need to find a place to hide, I can't let him kill me like this."

The boy looked around him, trying to find an opening that would prove useful for him and for the survival of his Pokémon. There was one place he knew that he could hide and that was near the top of the ship itself.

If he could hide there for a while; he would be able to find rest enough to better prepare for Dragonair's onslaught from Solress. Once victory is assured; he would have a better shot at opening up the portal for us to make it back for our final return. But this was not the time.

"I need to hide."

"Abra Teleport!" Commanded his trainer.

"You don't leave during a battle! Dragon Rage again Dragonair!" Shouted Solress once more.

The slim Dragon creature flung back his neck once more to try and absorb energy within its slick slender body. As the light had encapsulated his mouth. The creature blasted its aurora colored energy beam straight towards Blue once again.

Barreling toward the boy with swift intent to annihilate his very existence. The boy closed his eyes, wondering whether or not he'd even survive this very ordeal. Then he smiled at himself with assured confidence. He knew that if he entrusted his Pokémon's abilities to protect him they would ensure it at all costs.

Abra created a portal by curving his hands together in a circle. Instantaneously the Pokémon had flung himself towards his trainer as the violet ingress convoked from the creature had enveloped them both in the same space before Dragon Rage could even reach them.  Materializing them to a sudden location within a split second. Whoosh! They had arrived to the very location that Blue had imagined.

Both the injured boy and Abra were on top of the roof of the S. S. Anne. While there, they sat between two massive twenty-foot smokestacks that bellowed out steam from atop the ship. The boy couldn't remain standing in one place. He needed to lay down on the ground quickly.

Groaning from his injuries and desperately muttering to himself on ways of how to get us back. He could not move, it was all too paralyzing. Despite how discouraged he was, it still made his goal seem so far out of reach. All Blue wanted to do was to win. Yet, he too, was all alone and he had never been more defeated in such a humiliating manner like this.

"Maybe Solress and I aren't so different after all. I underestimated how powerful this trainer really is."

Truth could not have been more clear from what Blue had just experienced. He had lost the battle against his opponent. While he was aware he was cocky about his appearances and had won many battles against his opponents. This person was different. He had the intent to end him right then and there; he needed to be more reflexive. Blue needed to counter his most powerful moves. But how, was the main question?

The uncertain truth was the foghorn that had blared into the unknown night. Blue was not strong enough to subdue his opponent and if he intended to free us from within the other world. He needed a plan of action and he needed to assure his own victory.
