Part 32. Crash Landing on Route 25
Wednesday evening around seven o'clock. Red tussled his shoes across the rough culm of grass that winded it's way towards a cabin by the ocean up ahead. The cabin had an unusual hue to it. Glowing the panels pink from the sun setting towards the Westside of the region.
What Red found the most peculiar was the fact that the cabin itself looked almost abandoned. Like it hadn't been lived in for almost three or more years.
My friend marched his way toward the cabin up ahead. Pulling along the straps of his Poké bag. He angled on determinedly, gazing at the future that was set before him. Like the planets had finally aligned at the proper moment.
Pikachu perked his ears after smelling and eyeing something that had made a strange noise.
"......."
"What is it Pikachu?" He inquired.
"Pika-Pi!" Shouted the quirky yellow mouse. As he gestured with intensity towards the East side of the horizon.
My friend Red looked on with wide eyes as he noticed a massive fireball burning up in the space between the darkened sky and the cabin ahead. His eyes shrunk from fear of the sudden realization.
"Leaf?"
The fireball continued to grow larger in intensity. All around it shined with such brilliance that onlookers along the same path as him were just as surprised at the event that was taking place.
Red turned his back away from the cabin towards the sight as he watched the fireball fly overhead with even greater vigor. Facing towards his Pikachu; he pulled back his hat and nodded to his partner who was gently resting backwards along his cap.
Dashing with such precision, Red did his best to keep up with the speed but to no avail. The object was about to crash towards a giant mountain peak. Suddenly and without warning the object made a loud bang as it broke apart into two different pieces.
Red stopped his motion to examine the tail end of the object as the second one made it's way towards the southern horizon of the sea tens of miles away. This object was headed towards Vermillion city's seaport.
He carefully meandered his eyes towards the object that kept it's mass towards the west as it flew with such rapid acceleration. It was felt even from the Cerulean City residents miles outside of Route twenty-five while the ground began to rumble from the sound.
Red gestured for his Pikachu to follow after the object that was about to make impact towards a massive grassy area. This area was just a few feet along a massive triangular mountain range. Pikachu leaped off of Red's cap and sprinted along the gravel towards the object. Like a speedy bullet, Pikachu flew with extremity. Dodging every hedge, object, and maze path that had to be navigated by it's human occupants.
The patchy grass area was where Pikachu needed to go and he was making it his mission to fly straight towards the impact sight that would possibly lead to my own demise. No surprise to me in the slightest when Red was the one that knew immediately that the object in question took us captive.
Red followed after Pikachu but could not keep up with his own Pokemon's ungodly pace. The object was just a few feet within to make impact along the massive mountain range.
Faster and faster they ran towards the spot where it would land. Sadly, even Pikachu couldn't keep up with the speed of this giant disk like object.
With a flash, it struck alongside the mountain and careened it's way towards the grassy field below. Slowing the hull of the craft to a screeching halt.
"Leaf!" Panicked Red.
As he pounced his feet aggressively across the gravel pavement below him. Pikachu had approached the objects vicinity but quickly halted after the heat and explosion emitted from the craft's core had blown several parts of the hull in many varying directions. The collision generating the explosion was not worth Pikachu's life to go near.
Now that Red had made his way towards the impact sight. He looked stunned, rather blue in the face. There were no words for him to expressly showcase his fear. There were factors that were very likely that I did not survive the crash until...
"Hey! You didn't think I would just survive at all you klutz?!" I shouted from up above.
The boy swiftly turned his hat towards the sky after hearing my voice.
"........"
"Leaf?" He inquired.
I couldn't help but grin back at him.
There you are Red.
Jigglypuff was inflated to a massive size. Like one of those commercial balloons you see in festivals. I held tight to the bottom of Angel's right foot dangling below her while she made her gentle descent towards the ground.
Yellow and his female Pikachu rested graciously a top her buoyant hair-curl. Red looked up at me and couldn't help but smile back.
Now he was sure.
His fear had retreated. The truth of the matter was.
We were friends in high places indeed.
