Part 27. Virginia's Plea

Pitter-patter, pitter-patter said Virginia's small black heels across the metallic flooring as she marched endlessly throughout the hallway ahead. Her body shivering from nervousness as she composed herself among the darkness

"Hello?" She yipped as she waltzed her tired trembling legs along.

Being terrified of the situation. The more she fretted the more ready she was for someone to pounce on her. However, as she advanced ahead. She had the sinking feeling someone was observing her close by. But who, or where she could not tell? All she could see were her feet in front of her after each step she took.

Gripping hold of her Poké Ball off her belt pocket. She released the capsule from her throw. Liberating her Pokémon from within. She wanted the option for him to remain close.

"Follow me Oddish." She whimpered to command.

"Odd!" Yelped the little blue weed like creature with no hands. The Pokémon had leaves that outstretched above his head. While waddling up to his owner to remain close.

Virginia couldn't see well in front of her. However she did her best to adjust her vision to the walls narrow point of reference. The relief of knowing there may be light up ahead and her Pokémon keeping her company helped her avoid going insane. This helped her move forward comfortably. However, something told her. The hallway up ahead seemed to be coming to a close.

The only thing obstructing her view was the silhouette outline of a human figure. Muscular in stature. He had a low crown shaped head with red eyes. Peaking through the darkness.

The girl squeaked in her tracks from watching the moving eyes in the darkness all around her.

"Who's there?!" She yelped with daunted fear.

The creature peaked out his lizard like head through the light. Startling the two in the hallway as they observed the creature sway back and forth between the end of the hallway and the t intersection.

"Machoooke!" Pronounced the humanoid beast.

The monster padded his way inside what looked to be a loft elevator between the t-intersection of the hallway. The metallic gate between him and the door slammed shut. While simultaneously both doors closed with the humanoid creature inside. Climbing his way up towards the top.

"Should we follow him Oddish?" Inquired Virginia.

"Dis-dish." He nodded with a confident squeak.

The girl frantically booked after the creature in a desperate attempt to catch him. Higher and higher the creature went. Until the bell sounded on the final floor of the building. The elevator rested on its hinges towards floor twenty-five.

Luckily there was an elevator to the right of where the creature was discovered. This one was also a lift elevator which would be useful if Virginia wanted to meet Hanz within the timeframe given.

Thirty minutes was not enough, however it was all she needed in order for her to survive Solress's threat. She certainly didn't want to die and those repressed emotions of fear were all the more present because of the situation we were in.

Now we only had twenty minutes left. It was either be killed and wait or attempt the inevitable by putting a stop to Kaiser's operation, once and for all.

"Let's go!" Shouted Virginia nervously.

The two reached through the main gate of the lift machine. As Virginia frantically shut the gate, the automatic doors sealed shut.

Glancing around the room, she noticed a handle that protruded from the wall beside it.

"Oddish-odd!" Shouted Oddish to draw Virginia's attention.

Oddish knew that the handle was their way up to the twenty-fifth floor.

The girl nodded with a smirk and proceeded to grab hold of the stiff control. As she fiddled with it, she felt a second knob protruding from the top that had a spoke on it.

She realized as she pulled, it would allow the elevator to move anywhere. However, one thing got her attention.

The spoke of the handle had to be pressed down with her fingers. She held both of her hands together along the stiff handle gently and curled her hands to pull the lever down.

Finally, and with enough effort. The pull was able to lift her up towards her destination. The elevator churned and rocked about, like it was about to fall off its hinges. However it was quite stable for the most part.

After climbing up toward the top, the elevator came to a complete stop on floor twenty-five. Virginia could see as soon as the doors opened. A figure standing at least fifteen feet ahead. And right next to him, the very same creature Virginia had spotted before that looked to be about half his size.

"Welcome Virginia." Said Hanz.

"I hear that a member of your crew is trying to kill you?" He Inquired.

The girl's legs shivered by the sound of his voice. His deep raspiness had such alluring and stunning power that it would put even a mere vulpix to shrink before his presence.

With enough courage however, my friend Virginia was able to saunter her way out of the elevator.

The Oddish moaned and hissed at his opponent as she followed after her. Assuring that if he touched her, he would use his blades of grass to cut him where he stood. Rattling his head and twirling his blades. Oddish was glaring for a fight.

"Do you really think that you'll survive long enough with a Pokémon like that?" Inquired Hanz.

"He-he's all I've got." Said Virginia with soft tone.

Hanz was only looking down on her, indeed her power was weak compared to hers. But he found it rather amusing that a girl like her would find her way to his quarters and without impediment.

"Seems like you are one who looks to others for assistance rather than relying on the strength of your own?"

Clearing her throat she asked. "And what's wrong with that?—

"Everything! The mind was designed for one purpose only. Your purpose, however, you are one that shrinks in the face of danger, you keep tagging with others so that you can take advantage of their strength."

Virginia clenched her fist from that statement.

"This was the reason you followed after your comrade Solress."

"Razor-Leaf Oddish!" She shouted.

The Pokémon pounced to life as he skittered along the floor with his two short stubby feet. Spiking his leaflets up in the air. The little sprout like Pokémon spun the leafs clockwise like the Pokémon was about to take flight.

The sprout released three of those leafs toward the giant grey humanoid lizard who finally made his appearance under the light of the Earth above the ceiling. He looked like a muscular tv wrestler. With black spandex and a three way crown separating along the top of his noggin.

The leafs cut along the creature but did little to no damage to the beast as he took the hit with ease. Smiling confidently towards his opponent. Hanz glinted his glowing grey eyes toward Virginia's insignificance while gesturing his Pokémon to attack.

"Seismic Toss, Machoke."

The beefy Pokémon hurled himself toward Oddish. Grabbing the Pokémon by the hair of his leafs and tossed the small insignificant Pokémon up into the air. Careening him toward the ground. Oddish squeaked and crashed toward the ground.

"Maaaacchooooke!!!!"

Shouted the Pokémon as he used his physical prowess in beating his opponent senselessly. Oddish was not getting up after such an awesome and powerful physical move initiated by this monstrosity.

The air began to thin inside the building. Oxygen depleting. Virginia fell to her knees. Her eyes glazed from shock. She was about to white out from existence. Her survivability inconsequential. She didn't have the effort to face the monster that was before her. This was her only Pokémon.

There was nothing left for her to do.

"So weak." Pitied Hanz.

"Yet here you are now, Kneeling before an Apostle of Love. Thinking that you even had the chance. At least Black Clover had a bit more strength behind her. You are nothing—pathetic—

"Enough!" She shouted with tears streaming down her face.

"Enough? Don't you tell me enough!" He growled.

"You joined Team Rocket so that you could have a job! You went with Solress so that you could be useful! You went with Leaf so that you could survive! You are like a leech, one who sucks the life out of those you deem necess—

"Stop! P-please." Bawled Virginia.

"I'll do anything I beg of you!" She shouted while gritting her teeth. Tears constantly flowing down her face.

"P-please, teach me how to be worthwhile for myself?"

The man marched quickly toward her. Eyeing her with ill contempt.

"Pick up your head and stand you piece of garbage."

Grabbing a handful of her hair, violently lifting her up to face the horrid scar curved across his dejecting wrinkly face. His staunch breath mixing along with her perfume.

"You want to grovel about your problems. You better say that you want to better yourself. If you continue to rely on others."

"You die."
