Part 25. Infiltrating Kaisers Base
The sealed door spiraled open while releasing a platform toward the concrete flooring beneath us. With all Pokémon accounted for in their Poké Balls and leaving Yellow behind in an attempt to pilot the Haunebu. Virginia and I marched off the platform and onto the concrete landing below us.
To my bewilderment, the base had two towers that arched upward. Suggesting this base had been constructed here on this Moon many years ago. The conspiracy theories that so many people in my region had conjured up about Love and its team constructing a base of operations on the Moon was true. The technical achievement Ensign was able to realize was beyond staggering.
I never thought once that Ensign would go beyond the Space race of the early twentieth century in order to subvert the Pokémon International Governments expectation of power. Their battle for hegemony on the Earth was unmistakeable. Ensign needed materials on our own natural Satellite that orbits our planet to further their enrichment of power.
Looking before the towers were glass hallways that stretched for less than a mile across the barren soil. The door looked to be secure. However, multiple Clefairy all dressed in space gear were seen laboring on the landing tarmac at least fifteen feet ahead of the ships landing zone. They all were going in and out of the opening of the glass tube with ease.
This might be a little bit easier than I was expecting.
I turned toward Yellow. Nodding affirmatively that we would be arriving back to Haunebu's ship shortly.
"Yellow, when you arrive toward the main deck of the ship. See if you can get it to take off. Once it's mobile, beam us up. We'll try to escape once we slow them down." I said.
"How long do you think I'll need in order to ensure I'll meet you there?" Inquired Yellow in his helmet visor.
"No less than an hour at least."
Yellow climbed toward the opening of the ship. Eyeing me with a concerned look upon his face.
"You radio me when things get out of hand. Be very careful Leaf. I don't want them to hurt you."
My face blushed within my helmet. I could tell he was certainly concerned by his body language and the way he spoke to me with the tone of his voice.
Yellow saved me once before. I believe he'll save me again.
I nodded back to him, giving him the peace sign while strolling away from the ship.
"I've made up my mind Yellow. I will face it with everything I know how. That is what being a Pokémon trainer is all about." I assured him through my communicator.
Yellow nodded back to me. His concerned look and worry were valid. I was about to face two very dangerous men who each work in two very dangerous organizations. However there was no turning back.
The secured landing platform retreated mechanically within the boiling room and the door sealed shut. This was my first time being two hundred thousand miles away from our planet and now we had accomplished things that many astronauts would dream about in their own lifetime. However it was against our own will.
We were walking on the Moon. Boy, was it a sight to behold. The sky was dark. I could see little to no stars shimmering in sight. The sun permeated the ground as it flowed a brilliant white on the rich soil above it. The canyons were vast and beautifully crafted along the bases structure.
Mom, dad, I wish you could see this.
Virginia was just as surprised at the beauty and benevolence this planetoid created. The elegance of these canyons drew our eyes directly toward the tube that lead us towards the two magnificently bright triangular towers above the rocky structure.
We may no longer be in the Kanto region. But we can still find a way back. Red may even be in those towers too.
I clenched my fists and walked towards the giant glass tube as the colony of Clefairy made their way in and out carrying boxes of materials. They quickly floated up and stacked them each individually on top of each other in a pyramid shape.
"Wait!" Halted Virginia as she pulled me by the rim of my helmet. She hid me behind a large crate to avoid being spotted.
"They'll see us." Said Virginia with a hushed tone.
I lifted up my helmet and I watched them move. They quickly stacked material in the same shapes onto the tarmac.
"What are those boxes they are laying on on top of each other?" She asked.
I shook my head. I was also certainly unsure of what those boxes were. Were they ammo for weapons, or some kind of mining material?
I opened up the crate in front of me. Peaking into whatever these cargo holds have sealed within their spaces. The light glinted a white crystallized sediment that glowed with a brilliant shine. It was an immediate reaction after all.
I'm looking at the material Solress was seeking.
Solress had shown me the same picture of the stones that were needed to evolve Pokémon of a certain type. They were referred to as the Moon Stone.
Solress needs these stones. No doubt about it.
Their structure and brilliant glimmer from the light of the sun proved otherwise.
He's working with Hanz to steal and mine more of this element for something. but what did he mean by rift technology?
Virginia and I watched as the rest of the Clefairy group finished stacking their individual packages and floated right back into the sealed door of the main tunnel.
This was our last chance. We needed to run straight toward the entrance otherwise it would secure completely shut.
Grabbing her by the wrist I pulled her in and we each bounced our way toward the tube.
"Ugh! Hey what are you doing?" Complained Virginia as I strained her wrist.
"Let's move!"
"But what if they see us?"
There was no time. The sliding doors were about to close and if I did not move quick enough we would be sitting ducks.
Ten seconds.
But it was incredibly difficult to navigate along the concrete landing zone. Bouncing along the surface in comparison to our Earth's gravitational field was incredibly slower than normal.
Five seconds.
C'mon body move! Move!
As the doors were beginning to close. I sprang on the ground to forward my motion as quickly as I could. While holding Virginia's arm tightly, I did not want to lose her in this intensely weak gravity. The sensors along my visor were warning me about my beating heart rate. I was on the brink of losing if I did not reach the steps of the entrance in time.
Three, two....
After carefully gliding across the entrance. I had finally sighed with relief.
"Phew."
We had finally made it passed the doors as they sealed swiftly. Barely missing Virginia's ankles in the process.
"What the heck is wrong with you Leaf!? Are you trying to get us both ki—
Suddenly, as we were inside the tube like structure we could feel a powerful force. Pulling us swiftly towards the towers lobby. The pull felt like we were going at least faster than a speeding car along the smooth lunar ground.
It was a sight to behold for both of us. Within the glass tunnel; we could observe movement of the mountainous lunar canyons and beautiful silvery dusted dunes as they hiked up and alongside us while we sped swiftly towards our destination.
The suction from the glass tunnel channelled us headlong toward two giant metallic doors up ahead. I could faintly read text which read as follows.
"L.O.V.E. Industries Lunar Mining Depository."
Kaisers base was within reach. When the doors had swiftly barreled open. The magnetic pull had swiftly dissipated launching both me and Virginia in our spacesuits instantaneously across the deliberately polished ground.
"Ouch." I complained after landing face first upon the floor.
"Eck, where are we?" Asked Virginia nervously.
I didn't know where we were either, however. This wasn't the first time I could sense Hanz's presence inside this very lobby. Something didn't feel right and I felt for sure that Virginia could sense that very danger that was beginning to loom ahead of us.
