Part 24. Ivy's Grand Stage

Observing the boiler deck around me. I could see behind Yellow what looked to be a massive cylinder. The component stood to be about eight to nine feet tall. Green in color, with varying hues of lime to viridian. The device radiated with incandescent intensity. That my ears were familiarized by the sound that I heard when I was abducted aboard originally. Evoking a grinding noise that caused the machine to constantly flow rhythmically with pattern.

Warping and displacing the light within the container as it moved in a jostle. I was intrinsically at awe at the way this power had given the ship the ability to move and float through space time without the need of exhaust or combustion engine like our cars back home. This machine was powered by zero point energy just like Solress described.

Fusion coils? How on earth was Ensign Drake able to obtain such technology?

No wonder Solress was seeking greater power from beyond. He needed powerful energy to be able to help him with his scientific goals. But what are those goals he continues to seek? There was little question in my mind that it was for some invention involving the mineral he needed to obtain.

I need to stop Solress at all costs. Before things go from bad to worse.

"Where is Red?"

The young slender boy shook his head with disappointment from his countenance.

"I am sorry Leaf, when the ship took us up under it's beam. I awoke inside the ship but he was nowhere to be found." He said.

I sighed with relief.

Red had probably escaped before the abduction beam took him aboard the Haunebu. I had already checked all the floors inside the Saucer. If there is no sign of Red the chances of him being on Earth are a good sign.

"Yellow; I know this is going to sound absolutely crazy. But we'll need your help to secure this vehicle for our getaway. But in order to stop Hanz we need to escape the vacuum sealed door to enter the base."

"Where are we?" He inquired.

"The Moon." Answered Virginia affirmatively.

"The-Wha—

Yellow eyed Virginia's logo on her shirt carefully. Furrowing his brow in anger. He was not at all happy to see me associating myself with the enemy.

"Leaf who is this?" Inquired Yellow with sharp tone.

"This is Virginia, look I'll explain everything—

Yellow shook his head while holding stiff to the brim of his hat.

"You don't know what Team Rocket is capable of."

"Who's this numbskull?" She retorted to Yellows attitude with distaste.

"Where is the Pokémon you and Giovanni stored in your lab?" Yelped Yellow with grit and protest.

"Hey-hey! I don't know what you are talking about? I'm not privy to that information. I'm a Rocket Grunt member. So if you want to find that precious Pokémon of yours. You can leave me out of it."

"Don't lie to me!" Shouted Yellow briskly.

I did everything I could to try and calm the commotion. Not knowing beforehand it was going to get condescending with conflicting banter back and forth. I gestured for everyone to remain calm.

"Hey! I know we are not likely to be able to resolve our differences. But we need to work together in order to get off this god forsaken rock." I said with an assertive tone.

There was a small pause, everyone knew they needed to work together but this was going to be a bit more complicated. After a little thought; Yellow had gritted his teeth and pulled back his bag. Relaxing a little; he released the straps. Tipping his hat down away from Virginia's beautifully complex face. She analyzed him curiously.

"If you do anything to that Pokémon in that lab. I swear by it, I will never forgive you. Ya got that?"

She took a moment to let that sink in. Reflecting with a small hint of sorrow. I could tell she was rather offended slightly by her mistakes by the way she looked at him. Nodding her head she answered him assuringly.

"Got it."

Bulby in my arms was shaking. His movements were abstract. He looked pale, like he had been sick for a long period of time.

The Pokémon convulsed and shouted with extreme pain. I knew what was happening to him because of the open bulb but I needed more confirmation by Yellow himself.

"Yellow, what's Bulby saying?"

"He is letting you know that he is ready to evolve."

Evolve? I knew it! The bulb on his back is blossoming Into a new life form. Come to think of it.

I noticed his color was slightly changing into a darker hue. His claws were protruding in a length I had never previously known after obtaining him at the lab. He looked three times his size. Bigger than normal.

"Do you think he'll be okay?" I asked.

"Look!" Gestured Virginia.

"His bulb is opening up." Announced Yellow.

He was correct to assume the bulbs feature would sprout on each corner. Four of those corners had opened up like a Venus flytrap. Extending the leaflets outward Bulby was undergoing a transformation that not many get to witness after their first initial step as a Pokémon trainer. His beautiful pink bulb exposed from the tip of his back as the growth displayed a wondrously bright pink rose bud.

His stumpy legs pounced across the metallic flooring beneath him. The Pokémon had felt no more pain. The transformation was complete.

My word! He's not the same Pokémon I had met before.

He looked very different, the transformation had changed away a lot of his cute baby features. Even his happy go lucky attitude was different. His eyes were piercing red. His jaws protruding from above his reptilian beak like structure.

"What Pokémon did he evolve into?" I inquired curiously.

"That right there Leaf is Bulbasaur's secondary stage of his evolutionary line; Ivysaur."

My eyes widened by comparison on how big he was.

Amazing. He even looks stronger in this form.

I reached into my pocket, pulled up my red rectangular computer device and scanned my Pokémon from where he stood. Giving me a confused look, as if I was an alien probing his brain.

Reading the data collected from this Pokémon the Pokédex was smart enough to register the DNA of my starter and quickly loaded them onto the small screen in front of me.

"Whoah! Ivysaur's a lot heavier from before! He's at least thirty six pounds!"

Yellow chuckled from my comment.

"Looks like you won't be able to carry him around anymore."

"Saur." Sighed Ivysaur in defeat.

"So sorry Ivy." I giggled.

What's it say?" Inquired Virginia.

"It says, when the bulb grows large, it appears to lose the ability to stand on its hind legs."

"And?"

"When it absorbs the nutrients in the soil. The bulb is supposed to blossom into a larger flower from the bud tip shown."

"Incredible, what's his type?" Inquired Yellow.

"He has a poison and grass type variant." I answered after reading the green and purple bar displayed on screen.

"He would come in handy with poison type." Awed Virginia earnestly.

She is right, Bulb—I mean Ivy. Could very well come in handy when it comes to stalling Trainers in a duel. He's my most powerful Pokémon on the team as of right now. That and Lucy combined we may have a chance to stop them both.

"Jiggly!" Shouted Jigglypuff with excitement.

"Saur!" Ruffed the mature sounding partner of mine.

Seems like Jigglypuff agrees. I thought while smiling at both of them.

After standing up from kneeling and taking in all the information I needed. I turned to observe a closet that was partway open. A black dress outfit similar to Virginia's Team Rocket outfit but without the high cut lined skirt and the logo outside the dress. A white space suit with several helmets that had black tinted visors and cat-like headlights hanging above the racks.

These outfits will help us blend in on the base and protect us from losing oxygen. That dress will certainly do well inside the base. Black has always been my second favorite color.

Gesturing to the closet near the corner of the main entrance of the ships middle deck hatch. They followed my pointed hand carefully toward the suits above me and knew immediately what they needed to do in order to survive the element of space.

"Virginia place all Pokémon within their Poké Balls. If we want to leave this satellite with peace of mind. We need all life accounted for."

Both Yellow and Virginia nodded in agreement.

"I like this plan," she said with excitement in her voice.

"I'll remain to see if this saucer can lift off of the ground." Nodded Yellow.

It was time for us to move swiftly but with stealth. If we ever had a remote chance of encountering Solress and Hanz in time. We needed to be sure they would not be the ones chasing us afterward.

To be continued...
