In the Palm of my hand
The cave erupted in chaos as the battle raged on. Wisty stood in the center, commanding her Pokémon with precision and confidence, her voice cutting through the roar of attacks. Mew’s Hyper Beam had left a gash in the cliffside, but Wisty’s Pokémon held their ground.
Pikachu and Jolteon unleashed simultaneous Thunderbolts, their combined electricity crackling through the air. The powerful strike hit Mew directly, forcing it to retreat momentarily.
As the dust settled, Quillon was the first to break the silence.
“Wait a second… She has a shapeshifting Eevee… and that Togepi…” He narrowed his eyes. “WISTY?!”
Wisty turned, a sly grin spreading across her face. “Finally, Gary Berry. I was wondering when you’d realize.”
Gary blinked, caught off guard. “You’re here? And you caught Mew?!”
Wisty shrugged nonchalantly, waving her hand as though it were no big deal. “Maybe I did. What’s the big deal?”
Quillon’s face darkened, his fists clenching. “What’s the big deal? You’re a reckless menace, that’s the big deal! And now you’ve gone and—”
“Azumarill, use—”
Before Danika could finish, Wisty cut her off. “Houndour, Flamethrower. Right now.”
The small, black-and-orange dog barked eagerly and unleashed a stream of flames toward Quillon. He yelped and dove for cover.
“WISTY!” he shouted from behind a boulder. “Are you serious right now?!”
Wisty rolled her eyes. “You’re always so dramatic, Quillon. Relax, I wasn’t aiming for you.”
“Could’ve fooled me!”
Meanwhile, Togepi waddled forward, clutching what could only be described as a tiny, Pokémon-sized gun.
“TOGEPI!” Horace screamed, eyes wide as the mischievous Pokémon pointed the weapon at him. He dove behind Goh, clutching his friend for dear life.
“Wisty! Get your little menace under control!”
Wisty glanced at Togepi and sighed. “Togepi, dear, he’s a good guy. Remember? Where’s that robber we were talking about?”
Togepi tilted its head, seemingly in deep thought, before waddling over to Goh.
Goh let out a high-pitched scream. “It’s pointing at me!”
Wisty facepalmed. “Togepi, no. It’s not the redhead. Try again!”
Togepi looked around, then waddled over to Gary.
“Still no!” Wisty groaned. “That’s Gary. He’s not the robber either!”
Togepi huffed in frustration and turned toward Danika.
“That’s blue, Togepi!” Wisty exclaimed. “How are you confusing blue with red? Him!” She pointed emphatically at Quillon.
Finally, Togepi waddled toward Quillon, who peeked out from behind the boulder, his face pale. “What’s it doing?!”
Wisty smirked, folding her arms. “Looks like it’s found the ‘bad guy.’ Good job, Togepi.”
“WISTY, CALL IT OFF!” Quillon roared, scrambling back as Togepi stared him down.
With a satisfied hum, Wisty whistled sharply, and Togepi lowered the gun. It toddled back to her side, looking as cheerful as ever.
Goh clutched his chest. “That thing’s adorable, but it’s terrifying!”
“Yeah, well, you get used to it,” Gary muttered, shaking his head.
Wisty shrugged, a playful glint in her eyes. “What can I say? Togepi’s got character.”
Quillon stepped forward, his temper barely in check. “You’ve got a lot of nerve showing up here, Wisty. What are you even doing?”
“Me?” she said, tilting her head innocently. “Oh, just saving your sorry butts. And catching Mew.” She gestured toward the legendary Pokémon, which had calmed down and was now floating nearby, curiously observing the scene.
Quillon looked like he was about to explode, but Danika put a hand on his arm. “Quillon. Chill. She actually did catch Mew.”
“And saved us,” Horace added reluctantly.
Wisty flashed a smug grin. “See? I’m practically a hero.”
Quillon groaned, rubbing his temples. “I can’t deal with this.”
Wisty patted his shoulder. “Don’t worry, Quillon. I’m here to help.”
Somehow, that didn’t seem to reassure him.
As the dust settled and Quillon’s groaning subsided, Wisty’s phone buzzed loudly in her pocket. She fished it out, glanced at the screen, and sighed.
"Speak," she answered curtly, holding the phone to her ear.
“Wisty?” came Ash’s voice, a little too loud. “Are you with Gary?”
“Yeah,” Wisty said, rolling her eyes. “Him and the cranky old dude I was telling you about.”
Gary, overhearing her, frowned. “Cranky old dude?!”
Quillon scowled, crossing his arms. “I’m not that old!”
Wisty ignored them both. “What’s up, Ash? I’m kind of busy saving the day over here.”
Ash hesitated for a moment. “Well, uh... Pikachu and I are on our way to your location.”
Wisty raised an eyebrow. “Why? You worried I can’t handle things without you?”
“No,” Ash said quickly. “It’s just... you said Gary’s there. And, uh, if Quillon’s around, I figured maybe someone should keep you from starting a fire or something.”
Wisty smirked. “Ash, I already started the fire. I’m just deciding where to spread it next.”
“WHAT?!” Quillon shouted.
“Relax,” Wisty said with a wave of her hand, still holding the phone. “Figure of speech.”
Danika leaned toward Quillon and muttered, “I don’t think it’s a figure of speech.”
Ash cleared his throat on the other end. “Right... anyway, we’ll be there soon. Just don’t... you know... shoot anyone.”
“Togepi’s the one with the trigger finger,” Wisty said nonchalantly.
“Togepi has a gun again?!”
“It’s fine, Ash. I’ve got it under control,” Wisty said, though Togepi was currently pointing its tiny weapon at a random rock and giggling.
“Uh-huh,” Ash replied, clearly unconvinced. “See you soon.”
Wisty hung up and turned back to the group. “So, who’s ready for round two?”
Gary groaned. “Wisty, you are impossible.”
Quillon threw his hands in the air. “She’s going to be the death of me, I swear.”
Wisty grinned. “Aw, Quillon, you’re so dramatic. I’m the spice in your otherwise boring life.”
“More like the chaos I never asked for,” he muttered.
“Same thing,” Wisty quipped. “Now, let’s get back to Mew before Ash and his cheerleading squad show up.”
As Ash sprinted into the clearing, panting slightly from his run, he immediately stopped dead in his tracks at the scene before him. His wide eyes took in the chaos: Quillon glaring daggers at Wisty, Goh trying to keep Grookey from poking Togepi, and Gary just sitting on a rock, shaking his head in exasperation.
And there, in the middle of it all, stood Togepi. With a gun.
"What are you doing?!" Ash shouted, his voice cracking slightly. "TOGEPI, PUT THE HECK GUN DOWN!"
Togepi turned its head slowly, the wide smile on its face not budging an inch. “Toge-priiii!” it chirped happily, waving the gun around like a toy.
Quillon threw his arms in the air. “Finally, someone else sees the madness here!”
Wisty rolled her eyes, hands on her hips. “Ash, calm down. Togepi’s not going to shoot anyone. It knows better than that.”
“DOES IT?” Ash yelled. “Because it’s POINTING THE GUN AT GARY RIGHT NOW!”
Gary flinched and raised his hands. “Whoa, whoa, I didn’t even do anything this time!”
Wisty sighed and crouched down to Togepi’s level. “Togepi, sweetie, we’ve talked about this. No pointing weapons at people unless they’re bad guys, remember?”
“Toge-toge!” Togepi replied, giggling.
“Good.” Wisty nodded approvingly. “Now, who’s the bad guy we were talking about earlier?”
Togepi turned, aiming its gun at Goh.
“WHAT?!” Goh shrieked, diving behind Grookey.
“Not him!” Wisty said quickly, facepalming. “The redhead, Togepi! Come on, we’ve been over this.”
Togepi tilted its head, then shifted its aim to Danika.
“HOW IS THAT RED?!” Wisty groaned. “Togepi, blue isn’t even close to red!”
Togepi looked at Ash next, its head bobbing side to side in consideration.
Ash froze. “No. No, no, no! Wisty, get it away from me!”
“Oh, for crying out loud!” Wisty threw her hands up and finally reached for Togepi. She plucked the mischievous Pokémon off the ground and pried the gun from its tiny hands. “You’re impossible, you know that?”
Togepi blinked up at her innocently. “Toge-priii!”
Ash exhaled in relief. “Thank Arceus.” Then he glared at Wisty. “Why does it even HAVE a gun?!”
“Because it’s useful,” Wisty replied matter-of-factly. “You’d be surprised how effective Togepi is in a pinch.”
“That’s not the point!” Ash shouted.
“Relax,” Wisty said with a shrug, tucking the gun into her bag. “Everything’s under control. Besides, Togepi’s cute, so it gets away with it.”
Gary sighed heavily. “This is going to be a long day.”
