In the Palm of my hand
" Our Pokeballs aren't working either!" Horace exclaimed.
Quillon sighed. " We will have to rely on Azumarill, Weavile and Grookey."
" Grookey?"
Goh looked at his Grookey and smiled. " Don't worry, we'll be fine."
Then Gary squinted as he looked ahead. " Hey Quillon? Is there someone else that's supposed to be here?"
" No, it's only us. Why?"
" Because there's someone with an Eevee and Togepi climbing the cliff."
" What?!" Quillon whirled and saw there was, indeed,. someone climbing the cliff.
" Hold on you two " the person said. " We're going up!"
Quillon cracked his neck. " What are they doing here? Don't care. If they're here for Mew or any of the other Pokemon, they're answering to me."
Danika put a hand on Quillon's shoulder. " Quillon chill out. Maybe they're not bad."

"Now, Weavile." Quillon ordersd
"Azumarill." Danika added.
"Blastoise. Come on out."
"Blastoise.*
"Hey. What are you doing?" Goh demanded.
"I think having a battle is our best plan." Gary replied.
"I kind of think it's just playing around." He said but threw a Pokeball anyway.
"Cinderace."
"Okay, I'll run support for you all."
Suddenly, the girl the saw earlier slid between them, her arms spread out. " No." She said, her voice echoing through the cave. " You're not doing anything. Let me speak to it."
Horace cleared her throat. " Uh, miss, with all due respect -"
" Horace I love you but don't say anything that'll make you regret having lunch."
Horace blinked. " You know my name?!"
The girl shook her head. " Never mind that. Roll call!"
" Toge toge Priii!"
" Eeveevevveve!"
" Sprigatito!"
" Char!"
" Totodile!"
" Chika!"
" Alcremie!"
" Houndour!"
" Jiggly!"
"Appletun!"
" Rockruff!"
" Cherubi!"
Clefairy!"
" Ponyta!" The Galarian Ponyta yelled.
" Amura!"
" Altaria!"
" Shaymin!"
" Cinccino!"
" Milo!"
" Palafin!"
" Deerling!"
" Girafarig!"
" Mantyke!"
" Flamigo!"
" Wooloo!"
" Cubchu!*
The girl stood tall. " Look, Mew mew. Look at them all. Remember that day? Remember, Mew? Remember the day?"
She fished a Pokeball out of her pocket and pressed the button, enlarging it. " Remember the day? You wanted me to hold out a Pokeball. Then you pressed it, and you were mine? Remember Mew?"
Goh blinked. " You caught Mew?!"
The girl nodded. " Mhm. Sure did."
" Toge toge toge toge toge toge toge Priii!"
Mew ignored. " Mew? Mew mew mew mew mew mew mew."
It fired solar beam.
The girl gasped. " Eevee turn into Sylveon now and use Psychic!"
The Eevee backflipped and turned into Sylveon, then attacked.
But mew wasn't done.
" WAIT A SECOND THAT'S HYPER BEAM!" Quillon screeched.
" GET OUTTA THERE!" Danika agreed.
The girl didn't move.
" Okay guys this is it." She said. " Fire types, I need fire spin! Water types, half bubble and half water gun! Eevee I need Leafeon and Razor leaf! Rest of grass types vine whip! Flying types gust! Jigglypuff I need your song!"
" Jiggly!" Jiggly took a deep breath. The girl gasped and clamped the Pokemon's mouth shut.
" When I give the signal not now!" She yelped.
Then she shook her head. " Psychic I need Confusion! Ice type use blizzard! Let's go everyone!"
The Pokemon carried out the attacks, but it wasn't enough.
The solar beam went right through.
But the girl wasn't done.
She took a Pokeball out and looked at it. " I didn't want to use you but I have to."
She threw it and yelled, " PIKACHU GO!"
the yellow rodent came out.
" PIKACHU THUNDERBOLT!"
" Pika.... CHUUUUUUUUU!"
" GO PIKACHU!" the girl yelled. "
EEVEE, TURN INTI JOLTEON AND HELP PIKACHU!"
" Leafeon!" The leaf Pokemon backflipped, and it turned into Jolteon.
Then it used thunderbolt.
" GOOOO!"
As the intense clash continued, the air grew heavy with energy. Jolteon and Pikachu’s combined Thunderbolt crackled across the cave, their power illuminating the area. Mew responded with an almost playful grin before darting out of the way, leaving the attack to strike harmlessly against the rocky wall.
Wisty clenched her fists. “Mew, come on. Just listen to me!” she shouted, her voice breaking slightly. “I know you remember. You have to!”
Mew hovered in place, its curious gaze settling on Wisty. For a moment, everything fell still, save for the occasional drip of water from the cave’s ceiling. The silence was broken by Gary, who finally managed to catch his breath.
“Wait a second,” Gary muttered, narrowing his eyes at the girl in the center of it all. He took a step forward, as though trying to place her. “Quillon, you said you didn’t know who this was, right?”
Quillon, still bristling from earlier, folded his arms. “Obviously not. But I don’t care who she is—she’s reckless and interfering.”
Gary ignored him, his mind racing. He squinted at the girl’s Pokémon: a Togepi, an Eevee—no, now a Jolteon—and all the others she commanded with ease. Something about her mannerisms tugged at the edges of his memory.
“Wait…” Gary whispered, his tone shifting. “Shape-shifting Eevee. Togepi. That attitude…” His eyes widened in realization. “Wisty?!”
At the sound of her name, the girl froze. Slowly, she turned, a sly grin spreading across her face. “Finally, Gary Berry,” she said, her voice dripping with mock exasperation. “I was wondering how long it would take for you to figure it out.”
“Gary Berry?” Goh repeated, barely suppressing a laugh.
Danika tilted her head, intrigued. “Wait, you know her, Gary?”
“Know her?” Gary exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air. “Of course, I know her! Everyone does!”
“Not everyone,” Quillon muttered darkly, glaring at Wisty.
“Oh, don’t be like that, Quillon,” Wisty said with a smirk, clearly enjoying his irritation. “Still holding a grudge because I beat you that one time? Get over it.”
“That one time?!” Quillon growled. “You ruined everything that day!”
“Yeah, yeah,” Wisty waved him off dismissively before turning her attention back to Mew. “I’ll settle your bruised ego later. Right now, I have bigger things to worry about.”
Before anyone could say anything else, Wisty’s Jolteon let out a triumphant cry, drawing everyone’s attention. Mew had stopped its antics, its large eyes fixed solely on Wisty. It floated closer, tilting its head curiously.
“There you are,” Wisty murmured, her voice softening. She held out her hand, palm open. “Mew, come home.”
Mew hesitated, glancing back at the group. Then, slowly, it moved closer, landing gently in Wisty’s hand. The air grew warm as a faint glow surrounded them.
“Wait…” Horace stammered. “She really caught Mew? Like, for real?”
Goh was speechless. “That’s… that’s impossible. Right?”
Gary shook his head, still trying to process everything. “With Wisty, nothing’s impossible.”
Wisty looked over her shoulder, her smirk returning. “Well, it’s been fun catching up, but I’ve got places to be.” She recalled her Jolteon and Togepi, giving the group a wink as she turned toward the cave’s entrance.
“Wait!” Gary called. “Wisty, you—”
But she was already gone, disappearing into the shadows. Only her laughter echoed back, carrying a faint, teasing tone.
“See you around, Gary Berry!”
