Goh's check up
" Okay, Goh, take a deep breath and relax." Gary advised as he presses the stethoscope to goh's chest.
Goh nodded and slowly inhaled air, holding it in for as long as needed.
Gary nodded his head. " Good. A few more things and you'll be able to go out and look for Mew for sure."
Goh nodded as he fidgeted with the edge of his sleeping bag.
Gary took out a penlight and clicked it on, shining it into Goh's eyes. " Look straight ahead." He said, pointing to Grookey who was playing on the table.
Goh nodded slightly, and Gary checked, one eye after the other, taking his time to ensure they were bright and healthy.
" Good."
Gary leaned in with the otoscope, gently tilting Goh’s head to the side. “Hold still, this won’t take long,” he said, as he carefully inserted the tool into Goh's ear, examining for any signs of infection or blockage.
Goh sat patiently, though the sensation made him fidget slightly.
“Looks good,” Gary murmured, switching to the other ear. After finishing the ear check, Gary set the otoscope aside and grabbed a small rubber hammer.
“Alright, time to check your reflexes,” Gary said, crouching down in front of Goh. “Relax your legs.”
Goh tried to stay calm as Gary tapped the rubber hammer gently on his knees. Each time, his leg kicked out slightly, reacting to the stimulus.
"Perfect," Gary said with a small smile. "Your reflexes are sharp as always."
Gary straightened up and set the hammer aside, pulling on a pair of gloves. “Now, let’s check your throat. Open wide for me.”
Goh obediently opened his mouth as Gary peered inside with a tongue depressor, shining the penlight to get a clearer view. “Say ‘ahh.’”
“Ahhh,” Goh said, feeling slightly awkward but going along with it.
“Hmm, no swelling, no redness. Everything looks good here, too,” Gary said, taking off the gloves and tossing them into the nearby bin.
“Alright, last thing,” Gary said, his expression turning more serious. “I need to feel your stomach, so just lie back and relax.”
Goh lay down on his sleeping bag, pulling his shirt up slightly to expose his abdomen. Gary’s hands were firm but gentle as he palpated Goh’s stomach, pressing down in various areas to check for any tenderness or abnormalities.
“Any pain here?” Gary asked as he applied a bit of pressure on the right side.
Goh shook his head. “No, it feels fine.”
Gary continued his examination, working methodically, ensuring that there were no unusual lumps or discomfort.
“Alright, Goh, everything seems perfectly normal,” Gary said after a few moments, taking a step back. He gave Goh an approving nod. “You’re in good shape.”
Goh let out a breath of relief, sitting back up. “So… I can go look for Mew now?”
Gary chuckled lightly. “You’re good to go, but take it easy out there. No overexerting yourself.”
Goh smiled. "Thanks, Gary! I feel a lot better."
Gary patted Goh’s shoulder. “Just make sure you stay hydrated and rest if you need to.”
At that moment, Grookey jumped onto Goh's lap, clapping its little hands as if celebrating the good news. Goh laughed, giving his Pokémon a playful pat. "See, Grookey? We’re ready for the next adventure!"
Gary smiled, packing up his medical kit. "Just remember, even the best trainers need to take care of themselves."
