Girafarig

" Sprigatito? What happened?"

The cat meowed. She walked to the forest and meowed urgently.

" What's she saying, Wist?" Ash asked.

Wisty did not reply. Her face was white.

" How long?*

Three meows.

" Oh no. That's not good." The eight year old girl scooped the cat and ran into the forest.

" Should we follow?* Ash asked.

Misty nodded. " I think so."

They started running into the direction they had seen Wisty had went, dodging rocks and logs and ducking under tree branches.

" Uh.... where'd she go?" Misty asked as they slowly halted.

Ash looked in all four directions. " Uh......"

Meanwhile, Sprigatito stopped in front of a bush. " Sprigatito!" she exclaimed as she nudged Wisty forward. Wisty stayed in the bushes as she gasped in awe at the sight before her.

It was a giraffe of some sort.

" Wonder what that is. Hope Ash doesn't mind I took his old PokeDex. It's still working, and Ash has a new one, so there's no reason to let this go to waste." She turned it to the lowest volume and opened the Dex, its cover covered in stickers of flowers.

" Girafarig, a psychic Pokemon. They are usually found in savannahs and grasslands, so seeing one in the forest is a remarkable discovery, Ash."

" My name is Wisty!" Wisty groaned.

" Pardon me. I shall add that to my database."

Wisty smiled. " Good. Anything else I should know?"

" It's attacks consist of thunderbolts, psychic powers, mirror coat and psychic fangs, so proceed with causion."

" Fangs.... that would be a great collection to my POkemon. But first, I have to make sure its okay. And return it to its family." Wisty muttered.

The Girafarig heard Wisty and whimpered slightly.

" Based on how it sounds, this one is a baby." Dexter informed. " It should be with its mother."

" Oh, the poor thing! I can't capture it! I have to help it!"

Wisty put Dexter in her pocket. " Don't say anything, okay?"

" Understood. I shall remain as silent as possible."

" You too, Snowflake."

The cat nodded and walked to brush off against her leg.

" Let's do this."

She slowly walked out of the bushes, making sure not to make any sudden moves.

" Hey," She whispered. " You're okay. It's okay. I just want to help."

The baby backed up, but then collapsed, letting out a painful moan. Wisty's heart sank.

" Shhhhh, it's okay. You're okay."

Wisty reached to pet the giraffe's nuzzle, but it pulled away.

" Easy, easy, easy!" Wisty tried again, this time more slower. The baby backed up a little more, but Wisty kept her cool.

" There we go. Easy, girl. Easy." Wisty muttered as she finally put her hand on the baby's nuzzle.

" What happened?" Wisty gently inquired as she knelt down beside the baby.

" Girafarig!"

Wisty turned to Sprigatito. " What did she say?"

" Tito, sprig, titototo!"

" Oh, you poor thing." Wisty muttered. " I have a brother, who has a friend. His name is Brock. He's tall, and he's a Pokemon Doctor. He'll know how to heal your leg."

" ....is name is Brock. He's tall, and he's a Pokemon Doctor. He'll know how to heal your leg."

Pikachu's ears perked up. " Pika pi!"

Ash looked at him as he lazily spun a POkeball on his finger. " You heard her?"

" Pika pi!"

Ash caught the ball and stood up. " Then let's go!"

They ran through the bushes and finally found Wisty. She was petting an animal by the mane.

" What's that?" Ash asked as he rummaged for his Pokedex.

" A Girafarig." Wisty replied without looking.

" A what?"

" Girafarig. Usually found on Savannah."

" What's the gender?"

" Female."

" How do you know?" Misty asked.

" See the one spot on its back?" Wisty asked. " If it were a male, it would have had two."

" Oh."

Ash looked confused. " Wait, so you can figure out a gender of a POkemon...... by its appearance?!"

Wisty nodded. " Don't worry. Charmander, Squirtle, Pikachu, Bulbasaur and Pigeotto are all male."

Ash breathed a sigh of relief. " Thank goodness."

" But what's it doing here?" Brock asked.

" I don't know. But its leg in injured and it needs food. Pikachu, Ash, Misty, Brock, get it food. I'll stay here and keep it calm."

" But shouldn't we first asses its leg?" Brock asked.

" One- it's a HER. Two, no. Food first."

" Bu-"

Wisty turned. " Food. First."

Ash, Misty, and Brock exchanged glances, knowing Wisty was serious. Her calm yet determined demeanor left no room for debate. They nodded in agreement.

"Alright, Pikachu," Ash said, kneeling down to his partner. "Let's go find some berries or something for Girafarig."

"Pika!" Pikachu responded with a quick salute before dashing off with Ash close behind.

Misty and Brock followed, disappearing into the dense forest in search of food for the injured Pokémon.

Wisty turned her attention back to the baby Girafarig. "It's okay, girl. They're bringing you some food." She softly stroked the Pokémon's mane, trying to keep it as calm as possible. Sprigatito stayed close, keeping an eye out for any danger.

The baby Girafarig gave a small, pained whimper, its leg twitching slightly as it tried to move. Wisty frowned in concern. "I know it hurts, but I promise, we'll take care of you. Brock will help with your leg as soon as we get you fed."

Sprigatito meowed softly, pressing against Wisty's leg for reassurance.

"You're such a good girl, Snowflake," Wisty whispered to her Pokémon. "Thanks for guiding me here. I wouldn't have known what to do without you."

After a few minutes, Ash, Misty, and Brock returned, carrying armfuls of berries, herbs, and some grass they had gathered.

"Here!" Ash said as he knelt beside Wisty, holding out the food. "I hope this helps."

Wisty nodded gratefully. "It will, thanks. Let's see if she'll eat."

Slowly, Wisty offered a handful of berries to the Girafarig. The Pokémon sniffed cautiously at first but then, feeling safe in Wisty's presence, started to eat.

"That's it, girl," Wisty said softly. "Eat up. You'll feel stronger soon."

Brock, who had been studying the Girafarig's leg, finally spoke. "It looks like a sprain, maybe a slight fracture. We'll need to bandage it, but I'll have to be careful not to stress her too much."

Wisty nodded in agreement, her eyes still focused on the baby Girafarig. "I trust you, Brock. Just be gentle."

Misty, who had been quiet for a while, finally spoke up. "Wisty, how did you know how to handle all of this?"

Wisty smiled faintly. "My brother's always getting into trouble, and I've learned a lot by watching him. Plus, Brock's taught me a few things over time."

Ash, still spinning a Pokéball on his finger, smirked. "Looks like you've got the makings of a great trainer."

Wisty's eyes twinkled. "I've had a good teacher."

As the Girafarig continued eating, Brock began carefully tending to its injured leg, wrapping it with some bandages he had brought along. The baby Pokémon remained calm, trusting Wisty and her friends.

Once the bandaging was done, Brock sighed in relief. "That should help for now, but we need to get her somewhere safe so she can heal properly."

"Agreed," Wisty said, standing up. "We'll find her family and make sure she's taken care of."

"Yeah," Ash added. "And if Team Rocket's involved somehow, we need to be ready for anything."

Wisty nodded, her gaze firm as she looked out at the surrounding forest. "Let's get her home."

The Girafarig, though, let out a wail. All eyes turned to her.

" What happened, June?" Wisty asked.

" Girafarig! Rig, farig!"

Wisty looked at Sprigatito, who looked quite concered. " Snowy?"

" Sprigatito, Tito!"

Wisty gasped, and she might have inhaled too much air, because she choked.

" Wisty!" Ash jumped up, running to her and thumping her back.

" Thanks." Wisty gave him a thumbs up, then turned to the animal. " Are you serious?"

" Rig!"

" Uh..... what's going on?" Brock asked.

Wisty turned to the others. " June was abandoned here by her family."

A quiet moment of sadness filled the air. The others looked at the young Pokémon with sympathetic eyes, realizing the gravity of the situation.

Suddenly, one of Wisty’s Pokéballs, which had been loosely attached to her belt, rolled off and stopped in front of the Girafarig. Without hesitation, June reached out with her nose and tapped the ball.

In a flash of red light, the Girafarig was pulled into the Pokéball, and it shook briefly before the center button glowed green, signaling a successful capture.

Ash's eyes widened in surprise. "You did it, Wisty!"

Misty gasped with delight. "She caught herself!"

Brock chuckled, shaking his head in disbelief. "That's one way to join a team."

Wisty stood there, still processing what had just happened. A moment later, a huge grin spread across her face. "Yeah, I guess I did!" She reached down and picked up the Pokéball, holding it close to her chest.

Ash, full of excitement, rushed over to Wisty and gave her a congratulatory hug. "That was amazing, Wisty!"

Misty and Brock joined in, offering their own congratulations. The joy of the moment seemed to wash away the previous tension.

Wisty, with her arms wrapped around her brother, beamed. "I guess June is part of the family now."

Sprigatito meowed happily, and even Pikachu let out a cheerful "Pika!" from Ash’s shoulder.

As they pulled back from the group hug, Wisty looked down at the Pokéball in her hand. "Don’t worry, June," she whispered. "We’ll take care of you, no matter what."

Ash grinned and patted Wisty on the shoulder. "Looks like you're well on your way to becoming a great Pokémon trainer, Wist."

"Yeah," she said softly, gazing at the Pokéball. "I think I am."
