Battling in the Freezing Raid
" I look forward to seeing you again." Gary said as he turned. " Later."
" GARY LOOK OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUT!"
Gary turned to the sky and ducked just as a bird crashed onto the ground, and a person fell off.
The person laughed. " You did good, Pigeot. Return."
Then she stood up and brushed herself. " Oh hi guys. What are you doing here?"
Gary stood up slowly, brushing off the dust from his clothes. He turned, staring at the girl who had just crash-landed. "Wisty," he said, half in disbelief, half in exasperation. "What was that about? You nearly flattened me!"
Wisty grinned, unfazed. "Oh, you know, just making a dramatic entrance." She slipped Pidgeot's Pokéball back onto her belt. "So, what's up? Why are you all standing around looking so serious?"
Ash, still trying to recover from the shock of the near-miss, shook his head and crossed his arms. "We were about to wrap things up here before you dive-bombed out of the sky like that."
Goh, who had been hiding behind a nearby rock, peeked out cautiously. "You really need to work on your landings, Wisty."
Wisty laughed again and shrugged. "Hey, it's not my fault Pidgeot's got a thing for speed! Besides," she added, glancing at Gary with a teasing smile, "looks like I got everyone's attention, didn't I?"
Gary rolled his eyes. "Yeah, you definitely did. Seriously, why are you here? I thought you were off doing... whatever it is you do."
Wisty shrugged nonchalantly. "Oh, you know. Just passing through. I heard you were in the area, and I figured, why not pay a little visit?" She looked around at the group. "Seems like I've got good timing, huh?"
Ash let out a long sigh. "You and your 'good timing.' You never change, do you?"
Wisty flashed him an evil grin. "Wouldn't dream of it, big brother." She glanced back at Gary, who still looked slightly stunned. "By the way, you should've seen your face. That was priceless!"
Gary frowned, though a small smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. "Yeah, yeah. Laugh it up, Wisty. You almost gave me a heart attack."
Wisty winked. "Good. That means I did it right!"
Goh, having fully emerged from his hiding spot, crossed his arms and smirked. "You two have the weirdest sibling rivalry I've ever seen."
Wisty laughed, throwing her arms around Ash and Gary's shoulders. "Rivalry? Oh, please. This is just family bonding at its finest!"
Ash groaned, but he didn't push her away. "If by 'bonding,' you mean terrorizing us every chance you get, then yeah. Sure."
Wisty just stuck her tongue out at him. "Love you too, Ash."
Gary chuckled, finally shaking off the last bit of surprise. "Alright, Wisty, if you're here, then what's your plan? Another raid? Or are you just here to cause trouble?"
Wisty's eyes sparkled mischievously. "Oh, you'll see. Let's just say I've got something fun in mind... but you'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out!" With that, she spun around and waved as she jogged off. "Catch you later, slowpokes!"
Ash watched her go with a resigned smile, shaking his head. "I swear, she's always up to something."
Gary nodded, a bemused look on his face. "Yeah. And somehow, I always end up right in the middle of it."
Goh chuckled, adjusting his backpack. "Well, at least it won't be boring."
"Boring?" Ash repeated, his voice laced with playful sarcasm. "With Wisty around? Not a chance."
