"What was that?" Selene asked Shadow, "it's a song I've been working on." He said in a slightly sad tone while looking back up at the moon, getting lost in thought once again. She moved close to him, "what's wrong?" She asked him getting him out of his thoughts.

He sighed, "it's time I tell you what happened, the truth"

Flashback go the date of the 1980th circulation, 6th alighnment, 20th of moon, 12:00p.m.

Shadow's POV

I was young, like around 5 years old at the time, maybe 6. I was so very curious, and as you would know curiosity comes at a cost. It was raining and for unknown reasons, I went exploring, I hadn't realized I had entered a dangerous area. The ground where I was, was super unstable, and because of how bad it was raining, some small small holes in the ground would get flooded.

The next thing I knew the ground under me broke open and I nearly fell into an underground river. If it weren't for my dad I wouldn't be alive today, he came running and then grabbed me. He got me to solid ground. After he got me to solid ground he was hanging onto the edge of the pit, I was trying to help, but in the end my effort to help was in vain.

I was crying as I was scared I'd lose him, what he said to me made me realize he'd accepted his fate. "Never give up, keep pushing forward, even when things are going rough, never give up. Don't let others get to you, or harm you, never change. You are the pride and joy of my life, and you always will be, even in the afterlife." That's what he said to me before he fell to his death.

I was crying a lot as I walked back home slowly because I was afraid of what'd happen when I got home. When I got home I was soaking wet, but I didn't really care about that. I told my mother what'd happened, I expected her to be mad but instead she hugged me and tried to calm me down. Somehow the other pokémon in the schools I had gone to later in life after that had found out I had no father, so I would get bullied by them, sometimes even beaten for no reason.

Flashback end, back to present day, 3rd person omniscient

Shadow hadn't realized that tears started falling down his face.
