Freshman Year (part 15)

After a while after homecoming, it was still the same for Dawn, well, except things feeling worse. School, home, it was awful.

Her life wasn't even worth it anymore. Well, except to Barry and her mother. After homecoming, most of the time she's been sleeping at Barry's house along with her mother. It wasn't a problem since Barry's mother had divorced with Palmer when he was still only in 3rd grade.

Dawn does feel happier, but the thing is, her father gets even more mad now when she doesn't come home, and it never ends well.

She doesn't tell anyone but Barry, he was her best friend anyone could imagine. Dawn loved May, Serena, and Misty, she really did.

But she was afraid to let them know the truth about herself. She was scared about them knowing.

Numerous times she cried into Barry's shirt, and he said everything would be better. At school, she just got picked on and bullied by Ursula, Miette, Brianna, Hilda, Giselle, and others. Her friends would stand up for her, but she wondered why they even bothered anymore.

Wasn't she a burden to them?

"Dawn?" She looked up to see her mother smiling at her. She snapped out of her deep thoughts to look at her mother, who started walking to her bed.

"Hey mom." Johanna sat down next to Dawn, keeping her smile on her face. She did have good news for her, but it would be a hard choice for her to decide.

"I want to talk to you, wondering what you'd like to do after this year. I know that this year has been so, so terrible and as a mother, I failed. I failed you, an I want to help you be successful, not just for me but for yourself and...your younger brother."

Dawn looked at her mother with tearful eyes, her mom has done everything for her, why would she say that?

Her mother continued, taking a shaky breath. "So, I was thinking of transferring you to a better school next year, to a smaller high school. I've looked some up and I think that this one would be so awesome for you."

What? Is she serious?

Dawn looked up in interest, feeling hope inside of herself. "What school is it?"

"It's in Sunnyshore City, it's a school twice as small as the one your going to right now. It's called Sunnyshore Academy."

Dawns eyes widened, wasn't that on the other side of Sinnoh?! Why there ? Couldn't she just go to a school in her hometown, Twinleaf?

"Yeah, I knew you'd think about how far away it is." Her mom said, reading Dawns mind once again. Dawn shrugged her shoulders, not knowing what to say.

"Dawn, I really think it'd be a great opportunity for you. I-"

"Aren't those academies expensive though? What about you?" Dawn asked worriedly. Johanna shook her head, still smiling. "I can make it happen, trust me. Plus, you won't need to worry about me, I'll be fine."

Dawn knitted her eyebrows together in confusion. "Well, it would be expensive to get a house there too, Sunnyshore City is a big place and it's expensive."

"Dawn, this is the difficult thing I made for myself, but I didn't want to be selfish and keep you where you're unhappy. So you would attend school there and have a roommate, just like people at Western, like your friends. The thing is....is that I would stay here." Johanna smiled sadly, knowing that it was the right thing to do for her own daughter.

"But...but what about dad? What about Barry? I don't want to be selfish." Dawn quietly said, feeling worry and sadness build up. Yes, that would be the dream opportunity, but could she leave her worries behind her?

"Dawn, no need to worry, I promise. You still can skype, call and text me and all your friends, including Barry."

"Doesn't that require more expensive plans?"

"Yes, but I'm willing to do it."

Dawn though about it for a few minutes, and nodded her head. "I wanna try it, I really do."

Johanna sighed in relief and smiled happily, glad that her daughter wants to try something else that'll help her succeed. "It's a great school, I'm sure you'll love it there. Besides, maybe you'll know someone there."

"Am I allowed to come back and visit for holidays, like Christmas?" Dawn asked, curious to ask questions now that she decided to go next year.

Her mom laughed lightheartedly "Of course honey, I would want you to visit!" Johanna hugged Dawn tightly, the both of them smiling and laughing together. Johanna kissed her daughter on the head, then got up and left the room to go downstairs where Palmer was making some tea.

Barry burst into the room all hyper as usual "Hey Dawn! What's up now?" He jumped onto his bed, making Dawn lift off the bed a little from his impact.

"Well, I've decided to go to a different school next year."

Barry instantly froze hearing the words from the blunette. Did she just say that she was basically transferring to a new school?!

"But Dawn! You're the best and coolest person I know! Who's gonna cheer for me when I'm playing football, basketball, or when I'm running the hurdles in track?! Or when I'm playing tennis?!? I'm gonna miss you!" Barry whined, flopping his arms onto the bed. Dawn smiled and shook her head, knowing that he'd react something like that.

" I'm sorry Barry, but I'll come back and visit sometimes."

"Just for that, I'm gonna fine you big time! Now I'm gonna have to upgrade my texting and calling plan along with updating Skype too!" Dawn sighed, while Barry kept groaning and whining. He sat up crisscrossed way and crossed his arms, facing Dawn.

" You don't have to do that-"

"Woman, yes I do! You're not gonna leave me hangin' like this! I'll fine you double if you do."

"Okay, you can. I just didn't want to be a burden for you, that's all." Barry shook his head dramatically, making his fluffy hair flop around. "You've never been a burden. Some people are just stupid. Hey, wanna go play some video games?" Dawn springed off the bed in excitement and jumped a few times while Barry followed her. "Last one there is a rotten egg! Since it's Easter, they're gonna be a double rotten egg!"

"I'M FINING YOU DAWN BERLITZ!"

Gary: WHAT?!? NOOOOO!!!!!

Ash: DAWN CANNOT LEAVE US!!

JC: Oh well!

Skye: You could've written more you lazy asshoe.

JC: Fine. I'll do it next chapter. This was just to get an update in that seemed legit enough.
