Chapter 7: Rock and Poison (Part 2)
Third Person POV
After pushing the door to the Pewter City Gym open, Issei began to make his way inside of the building with Tana walking beside him, and both Misty and Caterpie followed closely behind the two.
The moment that Issei stepped foot into the building, he immediately took notice of two things that greatly confused him a little, and they were the baroness and the lack of lighting within the gym. The fact that there weren't any people both inside or outside the gym was a little weird to Issei because from what he knows about gyms; which he guessed he inherited from the body he now has, a lot of people and specifically pokémon trainers looks up to the Gym leaders as mentors.
Issei would've expected to meet other trainers who were working under the gym leaders, trying to better themselves and learn more about pokémon. So why was there no one here?
The gym couldn't be closed for the day, mainly cause Issei was able to open the front door; which means that there has to be someone inside the Pewter City Gym. The second reason why Issei knows that someone has to be inside is tied with the fact that the lights are turned off.
With the room being in darkness, it could be something that the Gym Leader was trying to do to surprise any new trainers; catching them off guard with their appearance... or they probably wanted to just scare the absolute shit out of any children that come inside.
Why?
Issei has absolutely no idea whatsoever, and frankly, he kinda doesn't want to know either because that isn't why he came to the gym.
Either way, Issei knows that someone was inside; most likely, the gym leader and the brown-haired boy were ready to meet them.
Unfortunately, Misty, on the other hand, didn't seem to realize what was going on and looked around with a raised eyebrow.
Misty: "Huh? there's no one here?"
She looked at Issei.
Misty: "Maybe the gym is closed"
Issei couldn't help but smile.
Issei: "Misty, if the gym was closed then..."
He then glanced back at Misty.
Issei: "Why was the front door unlocked?"
Hearing this caused Misty's eyes to widen in realization, while both Tana and Caterpie looked at the two humans with looks of confusion; not knowing what they were talking about.
Misty: "No, you saying that..."
Issei nodded his head.
Issei: "Yep..."
He soon turned his attention away from Misty and faced forward with a determined look on his face.
Issei: "Quite hiding in the darkness, I know you're there!"
Silence.
Silence.
Silence.
Silence.
???: "Impressive..."
In that moment, after the voice was heard, the entire room was illuminated by the lights turning on, which allowed both Issei and Misty to see the owner of the voice. Up on a small podium, sitting down with their legs crossed was a man who looked to be only three years older than Issei. He had tan skin, spiky dark Kournikova hair, and his most notable feature from what Issei could tell was the fact that his eyes appeared to be closed?
Issei couldn't help but blink in confusion at the sight before him. He honestly thought that he was imagining things because there was absolutely no way in hell that this was real.
Why were his eyes closed?
Could he even see Issei?
Issei shook his head a little.
Issei: 'I'll worry about that later...'
Man: "I'm impressed. How did you realize that the gym wasn't actually empty?"
Issei smiled at the question as he pointed at the front door.
Issei: "Kinda easy when you're able to open the front door"
The man couldn't help but chuckle a little.
Man: "Yes, I suppose thay is true. Perhaps I should try a different method for next time"
Issei: "I take it that your Brock, the Pewter City Gym Leader then?"
The man; whose name was Brock, nodded his head.
Brock: "Indeed I am, now tell me. Why have you come here today"
Issei remained silent for a moment. This was it. There was no turning back now; he came all this way to see if he was capable of defeating a gym leader. Now was his chance to prove if he and Tama had grown since the start of their journey.
Issei took a deep breath, exhaled through his nose, and took a step forward.
Issei: "My name is Issei Reyes from Pallat Town, I have come to Pewter City to test my skills against yours"
The brown-haired boy bowed slightly to Brock.
Issei: "Please accept my challenge, Gym Leader Brock!"
Brock stared down at Issei in silence, kind surprised by how kind that he was being. It was clear to tell that he was different from the last trainer who came to the Pewter City Gym. The last one was a pretty stronger trainer and had some talented pokémon alongside him, but he also had arrogant and prideful behavior by saying that defeating Brock was "too easy" for him.
It was nice to finally meet a trainer who knew how to be respectful, but that wasn't the only thing that Brock noticed from the young man in front of him. For some reason, Brock couldn't help but get the feeling that there was something special about him.
It was hard to explain, but it was like there was a spark; no a fire within the young man that was waiting to grow and that battling against Brock would help fuel that flame and help it grow into something entirely different.
Something special.
Something amazing.
Something....
....Out of this world.
Brock: "Tell me, is this your first gym match?"
Issei nodded his head.
Brock: "I see, then you should know that a gym match is for pokémon league authorization. There are special rules"
Issei: "Oh, I know about that, but..."
A small smile grew onto Issei's face.
Issei: "I get the feeling that your rules aren't gonna be tough for new trainers, right?"
Brock: "That is correct, I shall use the same rules as I have with all trainers that challenged me..."
He stood up from where he was sitting.
Brock: "We both shall use two pokémon each, no more than that. Understand?"
Issei: "That's fine by me"
Brock soon glanced over at Tana, who was standing by Issei's right leg.
Brock: "Tell me..."
He pointed at Tana.
Brock: "How long have you been with your pokémon for?"
Issei: "How long I've been with Tana?"
Brock could tell that the word "Tana" was merely a nickname that I gave Fenikin, but he didn't say anything about it and simply nodded his head.
Issei: "Um, around 2 weeks"
After saying those words, Issei found himself blinking in confusion from what he just uttered. Did he just say 2 weeks? Why did he say that? there is no way that it has been two weeks since he was killed by "Yuuma" and was transported to the world of Pokémon.
Yet, for some reason, Issei just felt compelled to say that it had been 2 weeks. He could be wrong, and it has been that long. Maybe Issei hasn't been paying attention since he has had a lot on his mind. However, it's strange since it has felt like it's only been around a couple of days since he departed from his old world to this one.
Brock: "Two weeks, you say?"
Issei nodded his head.
Issei: "Yes, sir"
Brock glanced down at Tana once again.
Brock: "I will admit that you seem to have bonded with your pokémon..."
He then looked directly at Issei with a serious expression on his face.
Brock: "But you clearly done know about type advantages, your fire type won't be much help in this battle"
After saying those words, Brock fully expected to see Issei get annoyed and isn't about it like some of the previous trainers who came to the Pewter City Gym. Despite being with their pokémon for long periods of time, they still lacked any sort of intelligence for even the most basic type of pokémon knowledge.
However, much to the gym leaders' surprise, Issei didn't get annoyed by his words. In fact, he simply let out a small yet loud chuckle.
Issei: "Oh, trust me. I know thay fire types aren't gonna do much to your rock types"
Brock: "Yet you're still gonna battle using your fire type?"
Issei simply nodded in response.
Brock: "Why?"
Issei: "Why?"
He glanced down at Tana, who looked up at Issei witha. smile on her face and determination in her eyes. Seeing this caused Issei to chuckle once more.
Issei: "That's simple...."
He looked back at Brock, allowing the man to see the determination within the brown-haired boy's eyes.
Issei: "Cause I believe in Tana!"
Brock stared at Issei in silence. It had been a long while since the last time he had heard a trainer say that they believed in their pokémon. Normally, a trainer only sees a pokémon as nothing more than a tool for them to use how they desire, and it was quite rare to find one that actually cares about them as equals.
The only ones who do treat pokémon as equals are usually children who don't fully understand the world and those that have actually been saved by pokémon. It had happened before I'm the past, long before Brock was even born, but he had read about it growing up.
Even the last trainer he fought saw his own pokémon as nothing more than aimple tools for him to acchive his goals, though he didn't outright say it because he was too busy gloating to some gorgeous cheerleaders that he won the match without much difficulty. But Brock could tell that he didn't respect his pokémon either, well not fully that is because there is a small chance that he does trust them.
Anyways, it was quite nice to know that there was a new trainer who treated their pokémon with kindness.
Brock: 'This trainer...'
A small smile grew on Brock's face.
Brock: "Well then, shall we begin the battle?"
Issei smirked.
Issei: "Ready whenever you are, Brock"
Brock couldn't help but chuckle at this before he raised one of his hands and snapped his fingers. When he did that, Issei heard two doors opening, one to his left and the other to his right.
This got the attention of the young man and Misty, who watched as a rocky landscape began to move out from the darkness; no doubt with the assistance of a machine, and interconnected with each other in the middle of the room, directly in front of Issei.
Issei: "Woah..."
He glanced over at Misty.
Issei: "Are all Gyms gonna be like this?"
Misty simply shrugged her shoulders
Misty: "I wouldn't know, this is the first time I've been to a different gym"
Issei: "I see..."
Issei turned his attention back to Brock, who leaped down from the podium that he once sat upon, taking out a pokeball and pointing it forward.
Brock: "Let the match begin!"
Issei: "Right!"
He looked down at Tana.
Issei: "You ready for this, Tana?"
Tana looked up at Issei with a look of determination in her eyes.
Tana: "Fen! Fen! kin!"
With that, Tana leaped onto the battlefield and narrowed her eyes at Brock, showing that she wasn't gonna back down from this battle; no matter what Pokémon the Gym Leader decides to bring out. It didn't matter to the fire fox Pokémon because she was gonna give it her all, even if she loses the fight; she knew that her trainer will win because she believes in him.
Brock, who saw the look in Tana's eyes, couldn't help but smile.
Brock: 'Those two have a strong bond...'
He smirked.
Brock: "Well then, allow me to introduce you to my partner as well!"
He threw the Pokéball.
Brock: "ONYX, LET'S GO!!"
The moment that the pokeball hit the ground, it opened up to reveal the Pokémon that was inside, and Issei couldn't help but stare at it with a mixture of shock and awe.
The Pokémon in question was massive, easily dwarfing most buildings from one to maybe three stories tall. The body of the pokémon was serpentine-like in nature and was made up of large gray boulders and little pebbles. It also had a long horn atop its head and small eyes.
Issei: "Holy shit!"
Issei immediately took out his pokedex to get some more information about the pokémon that he was facing.
Pokédex: {"Onyx, the Rock Snake Pokémon. It rapidly bores through the ground at 50 mph by squirming and twisting its massive, rugged body"}
Issei's eyes widen.
Issei: 'Something that big can move that fast!?'
Ddraig: ['Well, you knew that this wouldn't be an easy fight. Right, partner?']
Issei gritted his teeth a little.
Issei: 'Yeah, but that was before I came across a rock snake that's almost as fast as a bloody cheetah!'
Ddraig simply chuckled.
Ddraig: ['Don't worry, partner. Tana doesn't seem worried']
Issei looked at Tana, who was glaring at the Onyx, which was growling back at the small fire fox Pokémon.
Ddraig: ['Plus, you got THAT as your backup plan']
Issei: 'I do, but only if Tanan can't take it...'
A smirk grew onto Issei's face.
Issei: "Alright, Tana. let's do this!"
Tana: "Fen! Kin!"
Brock couldn't help but smile as he looked up at Onyx.
Brock: "You ready, Onyx?"
Onyx roared loudly, signaling that it was ready to battle as well.
Brock: "Well then, use tackle!"
Onyx roared as it launched itself towards Tana, who dodged out of the way of the incoming attack which destroyed a nearby rock; creating a small dust cloud from the impact that Onyx left upon thr battlefields terrain.
Issei: "Tama, use ember!"
Tana: "Fen! kin!"
Tana launched small flames from her mouth towards Onyx, but the mouth that they landed on the pokémon's rocky body; they did absolutely nothing to him.
Brock smirked.
Brock: "That won't work on Onxy!"
Issei: "Worked as a small distraction"
Hearing this caused Brock to blink in surprise, wait can he even blink? his eyes are closed?
Brock: "Huh? what do you mean?"
Issei smirked.
Issei: "Where's Tana~?"
Brock looked to where Tana was suppose to be after dodging Onyx's tackle, but to the gym leaders surprise; she wasn't there. In fact, he couldn't see her anywhere on the battlefield.
Not even Onyx knew where the fox Pokémon was located and it was way bigger than everyone in the Pewter City Gym.
Brock: "What! Where is she!?"
Issei didn't respond to Brock's question at first, in fact, all he did was widen his smirk a little bit more.
Issei: "Why don't you ask your partner~"
Brock looked towards Onxy, only to see Tana climbing on Onyx's back.
Brock: "Onyx, she's on your back!"
Onyx glanced back and noticed the small fox that was latched onto its neck, this caused Onyx to roar loudly as it began to shake Tana off its back, but she was holding on pretty tight.
Onyx kept roaring and trying to get Tana off itself, causing the rock snake to repeatedly slame itself into more and more of the terrain; crating more and more rumble and dust to appear.
Neither Issei nor Brock could tell what was happening within the dust cloud, although there are a few times where they can get a visual on things such as seeing parts of Onyx's body or spotting the color of Tana's fur. This went on for a good long while, with both trainers simply watching in silence, waiting for the perfect opportunity to make the next move.
Suddenly, Onyx rose up from the cloud of dust, with Tana clinging directly onto the rock snakes head.
Brock: "Onyx, use di-"
Issei: "Tana, now is the time. Use heatwave!"
Hearing those words caused Brock's eyes to widen in a mixture of shock and confusion. Did he just say heatwave?
Hearing her trainers command, Tana gave Onyx a small smirk before she roared out and unleashed a powerful wave of immense heat, directly point blank into Onyx's face. This action caused a small explosion to appear, which sent Onyx crashing down into the floor.
Brock: "Onyx!"
Issei looked up to see Tana falling towards the ground after being sent back from the explosions shockwave, and without waiting a second, he ran forward and caught her in his arms.
Issei: "Tana, you okay!?"
Tana looked up at Issei, allowing him to see that she was covered in some scraps and bruises, which signaled that using heatwave at such close range did more harm to Tana than Issei realized.
To be fair, issei didn't expect a literal explosion to appear from the attack. That wasn't a part of his plan. He simply wanted to inflict a little bit of burn onto Onyx, not what just occurred.
Issei: "Damn, I'm such a idiot...."
He looked over at Brock and Onyx.
Issei: "Hey, Brock! is Onyx okay after that!?
Brock was surprised by hearing the brown-haired boy's words.
Brock: "You're... worried about Onyx's health?"
Issei: "Of course, both he and Tana took a major hit from the explosion"
He gently placed Tana back onto the ground.
Issei: "You take a rest Tana..."
Issei turned his attention back to Brock.
Issei: "I'm not having Tana battle anymore, instead..."
Issei reached for his belt and took out another pokeball, one that caught Misty's attention because the last time she checked that wasn't the one that Issei used to capture Pidgeotto with.
Issei: "I'll use this one, that alright with you and Onyx?"
Brock remained silent at first, unsure on what he should say before he looked over at Onyx.
Brock: "Onyx, can you continue with the battle?"
Onyx merely looked at Brock and nodded it's head to its trainer.
Brock: "Heh, should've known..."
A smile grew onto his face.
Brock: "You're not one to go down easily, are you buddy?"
Onyx growled before it turned back towards Issei and let out a mighty roar, sending a small shockwave through the gym.
Issei: "Heh, good to see that Onyx still got some fight in him!"
He smirked.
Issei: "But let's see how he makes of this!"
Issei threw the pokeball onto the field, and once it hit the ground, it opened up to reveal the Pokémon that was inside. The moment that Misty saw the Pokémon, her eyes were left widened in absolute shock from what it was.
Misty: "No way! Is that what I think it is!'
Issei: "Yep, it is!"
Nidoran: "Nido!"
Nidoran stared down the towering rock snake pokémon with narrowed eyes, waiting for Issei to give the command to attack.
Brock: "A Nidoran, I must say. I didn't expect this to happen..."
Issei couldn't help but chuckle.
Issei: "What can I say, Brock..."
He smiled at the gym leader.
Issei: "I'm full of surprises!"
Brock couldn't help but smile back at the brown-haired boy.
Brock: "That you are..."
Issei looked down at Nidoran.
Issei: "Nidoran, use double kick!"
Nidoran: "Nido!"
Nidoran began to charge toward Onyx with incredible speed before it leaped up towards the towering pokémon's face.
Brock: "Onyx, use bide!"
Onyx growled as Nidoran soon unleashed its attack and struck Onyx's face with a pair of powerful kicks, causing him to flinch with each blow that he took. Issei didn't know how hurt Onyx was from the explosion earlier, but he does know that double kick will be super effective again him.
Fighting type moves were very effective against rock types, so it won't be long before Nidoran takes it down. However, the move that Brock told Onyx to do has him a little bit worried.
Brock: "While using bide, Onyx can't attack until he has been attacked two times"
Issei was surprised by this.
Issei: "What, aren't you worried that Onyx won't be able to withstand the next attack?"
Brock smiled.
Brock: "Onyx be defeated?"
He shook his head.
Brock: "He won't be because I believe in Onyx"
Onyx looked back at Brock and let out a soft growl, making it's trainer smile at the huge rock snake.
Issei saw this and he couldn't help but smile because it reminded him of his bond with Tana. He hasn't known her long, but... he had grown quite attached to her.
Issei: "Well then, Brock..."
He smirked.
Issei: "Let's see if Onyx can hold out! Ready Nidoran!?"
Nidoran: "Nido! Ran! Ran!"
Issei: "Alright, use dou- what the!?"
This got the attention of both Brock and Misty as they looked over at issei, only to see numerous children ranging from 10 and under grabbing onto Issei; preventing the brown-haired boy from moving.
Boy 1: "You leave Onyx alone, you big bully!"
Issei blinked.
Issei: "Um, what's going on!?"
Brock: "Stop it! all of you, get off him! this is an official match!"
However, the children refused to let go of Issei.
Girl 1: "But Brock, we know how much you care about your pokémon!"
Boy 2: "That's why we can't watch Onxy suffer from another attack!"
Issei was very confused right now. Who were these kids? why were they preventing him from moving? why did it sound like they knew Brock personally? These were all questions that were currently going through Issei's mind right now as Tana watched what was happening, and she was trying her best to get the kids off her trainer without harming them.
But then, Issei realized something about the kids when he glanced down at one of them that was holding onto his arm. It was a boy, and he looked almost identical to Brock, even having closed eyes, which still confused Issei.
Issei: 'Wait, are these...'
He glanced over at the rest of the kids.
Issei: 'His family!? why are they here, and what do they mean by suf-'
Issei's eyes soon widen in realization.
(Flashback)
Hearing her trainers command, Tana gave Onyx a small smirk before she roared out and unleashed a powerful wave of immense heat, directly point blank into Onyx's face. This action caused a small explosion to appear, which sent Onyx crashing down into the floor.
Brock: "Onyx!"
(Flashback End)
Issei: 'I see... they care about Onyx's well-being like I care about Tana's...'
Issei took another look at the children, which clung onto him, refusing to budge a muscle and the look on their faces; issei seemed that half of them were on the verge of tears.
The brown-haired boy soon grew a small smile and looked at Nidoran.
Issei: "Nidoran, come back!"
Nidoran glanced back at Issei in confusion.
Nidoran: "Nido?"
Issei nodded his head as Nidoran soon came back over to Issei, much to the confusion of Brock and Misty.
Brock: "What do you think you're doing?! this match isn't over!"
Issei: "You're right, Brock. It isn't, but..."
Issei managed to get the kids off him, gently placing them on the ground and giving some of them head pats. He then had Nidoran return to her pokeball before he picked up Tana, who looked at her trainer in confusion.
Issei: "That explosion that happened earlier was a mistake, winning the match like that isn't how I wanna do things"
Brock: "Huh!?"
A smile grew onto Issei face.
Issei: "But don't worry, I'll challenge you again and when that happens... we'll have a fight to remember"
With that, Issei turned and began to walk away fron the battlefield which left everyone speechless.
Although, Misty soon began to let out a small sigh.
Misty: "Jeez, he had be so hyped up and then he goes and bes a nice guy..."
A small blushed crawled onto her face as she soon smiled.
Misty: "But I guess that's why I travel with him..."
Caterpie: "Pie! pie!"
Misty looked at the bug-type pokémon.
Misty: "Come on, let's catch up with him"
Caterpie: "Cat! pie!"
Brock simply watched as Issei made his way out of the Pewter City Gym in silence. Was that it? Brick was honestly starting to enjoy the battle with Issei and this is how it ends?
Brock: "Maybe I got my hopes up..."
Onyx growled at Brock, gaining his attention.
Brock: "Huh, Onyx?"
Onyx growled.
Brock: "What is it?"
The rock snake pokémon merely glanced it's head towards the direction that Issei walked off in, like it was tellings it's trainer that he knew what he should do about it.
Brock: "You sure?"
Onyx merely nodded his head.
(Time Skip brought to you by Issei and Tana sleeping under a tree together)
The sun was slowly setting over the horizon as Issei and Tana were currently walking down a pathway, they just left the pokémon center not to long ago after the pewter city nurse joy; who also knew his mother, fixed up Tana's injuries.
Now that she was all healed up, Issei needed to figure out what the next course of action was. He'll most likely camp out the night with Misty and Caterpie and maybe challenge Brock again some other time. He enjoyed the battle despite the fact that he didn't really get a chance to use Nidoran who was looking forward to the battle.
As for Tana...
Issei: "Hey, Tana..."
Tana: "Fen?"
She looked up at her trainer.
Issei: "I know that we haven't really gotten much wins under our belts since we left palat town, but..."
He glanced down at the fire fox Pokémon, giving her a kind and gentle smile.
Issei: "You did well against Onyx"
Issei soon kneeled down next to her and proceeded to give Tana some head pats, scratching the back of her ears, which caused her tail to wag a little.
Issei: "I'm proud of you, Tana"
Tana looked at Issei with a smile and a small blush on her face from Issei's kind words. She was glad that she was making her trainer proud.
Issei: "Now then..."
He stood up and dusted off his pants.
Issei: "Let's go meet up with Misty and Caterpie, shall we?"
Tana: "Fen! Fen! kin!"
Ddraig: ['I would hold that thought, Partner']
Hearing this got Issei's attention.
Issei: 'Why?'
Ddraig: ['Cause look who's coming over to us right now']
Issei simply raised an eyebrow in confusion, not really sure what the Welsh Dragon was talking about until...
???: "Issei! Issei, wait up!"
Issei: "Huh?"
He turned his head in the direction of the voice and was greeted by the sight of Brock running up to him.
Issei: "Brock?"
Once the gym leader arrived up to the brown-haired boy, he took a moment to catch his breath.
Issei: "What are you doing here?"
Brock: "You forgot this"
He held out his hand to Issei and opened it to reveal something that left the young man speechless, it was a badge; the boulder badge that he would've gotten if he had defeated Brock in a battle.
Issei: "A-a badge!? your giving me one!?"
Brock nodded his head.
Brock: "That's right"
Issei: "B-but I can't accept that, I didn't defeat you properly!"
A small smile grew onto Brock's face.
Brock: "While that is true, you didn't. But I still want you to have this badge, after all it was Onyx idea"
This caused Issei to be even more surprised than he currently was already. Onyx was the one who wanted Issei to have the badge. Why would he do that? was this because Issei asked if Onyx was alright after the explosion that he took to the face?
Issei: "Onyx did this..."
Brock nodded.
Brock: "He did, I'm not sure why myself but...
He smiled.
Brock: "I trust Onyx and he hasn't let me down yet"
Issei: "Guess that's why your siblings were so upset over him getting hurt"
Brock scratched the back of his head after Issei said those words.
Brock: "Yeah, sorry about them..."
Issei smiled.
Issei: "It's alright, Brock. No harm done"
He soon chuckled.
Issei: "It was honestly cute to see then working together like that, you must be proud"
Brock didn't say anything as he slowly glanced over to the settle sun.
Brock: "Hey, Issei. Can I tell you something"
Issei: "Hm? sure thing, Brock. What is it?"
Brock: "You see... I never really wanted to be a Gym leader"
Issei's eyes widened.
Issei: "Huh?! you didn't!?"
Brock nodded.
Brock: "To tell you the truth, I get more of a thrill at raising pokémon rather than having them battle against one another"
Issei: "So you wanted to be a pokémon... breeder?"
Brock nodded his head.
Brock: "I did and still want to but..."
He soon looked towards the ground, letting out a small sigh.
Brock: "I have a duty to my younger siblings, I can't leave them alone"
Issei: "Brock..."
Brock soon clenched the hand with the boulder badge tightly as he looked back at Issei with a look of determination on his face. Well, what Issei believed was determination because frankly, it was kinda hard to tell with the fact that his eyes are closed.
Brock: "Issei, please take this badge and fulfill my dream!"
He held it out to the brown-haired boy.
Brock: "Do what I could not do! Will you do that for me?"
Issei stared at Brock in silence, taking in every single word that he had just said before he turned his attention towards the badge that was currently resting in his hands.
Tana watched in silence as a small smile grew onto her trainers face.
Issei: "Alright, Brock. I'll do it..."
He took the badge from Brock's hand.
Issei: "I'll complete your dream while I'm on my journey"
Issei glanced down at Tana.
Issei: "Right, Tana?"
Tana: "Fen! Fenkin!"
Issei merely chuckled at his starters response and Brock smiled at the young man in front of him.
Brock: "Issei, thank you..."
Issei: "It's no problem, Bro-"
???: "Brock..."
Hearing the new voice caused both Issei and Brock to perk up as they turned towards it and see none other than Flint walking up to the duo.
Issei: "Flint? what are you doing here?"
Flint didn't respond to Issei's question as he merely looked towards Brock.
Flint: "It's time that you go and follow your own dreams..."
In that moment, Flint grabbed onto his beard and red beanie and much to the shock of Issei; he proceded to take them off and reveal his face to them, which looked like a older version of Brock.
But seriously though, how long had he been wearing that thing for?
Issei: "F-flint, you were wearing a fake beard!?"
Flint nodded.
Flint: "I was..."
Issei: "Then, who are you really?"
Brock narrowed his eyes at the man before him. It was a man that he never thought that he would ever see again, a man who hasn't been around for a very long time.
Brock: "It's my father..."
Silence.
Silence.
Silence.
Silence.
Issei: "EHHHH!?"
Tana: "FEN!?"
Ddraig soon began to chuckle at Issei and Tana's shocked reactions.
Ddraig: ['Did you really not recognize him?']
Issei: 'You knew!? and you didnt tell me!? wait a second... How did you know!?'
Ddraig: ['Simple, the eyes gave it away']
