Kenny closed the door behind them, his expression shifting from shock to concern. He guided Dawn to sit on the examination table, his hands gentle but firm on her shoulders.

"Dawn," Kenny said, his voice serious, "you walked through a snowstorm to bring me food. That’s sweet, but it’s also reckless. What were you thinking?"

Dawn opened her mouth to respond, but all that came out was a weak laugh. "I... I just didn’t want you to skip your lunch..."

Kenny sighed, running a hand through his auburn hair. "You're unbelievable." He grabbed his stethoscope and gently placed it on her chest. "Deep breath, Dee Dee."

Dawn obeyed, though her breaths were shaky.

Kenny’s face grew more serious as he listened to her heart. Then, he reached for a thermometer, placing it in her ear. When it beeped, he frowned at the number.

"Dawn," he began, pulling the thermometer away, "your temperature is low. How long were you out in the cold?"

Dawn avoided his gaze, fidgeting with her fingers. "Not that long..."

Kenny placed his hands on his hips, his expression stern. "Dawn Hikari, you are freezing, and your pulse is faint. This is serious."

His tone made her flinch. Her lower lip quivered as her eyes filled with tears. "I... I just wanted to help you," she whispered.

Kenny froze as he saw her tears spill over. "Oh no. Dawn, please don’t cry," he said, his voice softening instantly. He set down his tools and stepped closer, wrapping his arms around her trembling frame. "I didn’t mean to upset you. I’m sorry, Dee Dee."

Dawn clung to him, burying her face in his chest. "You sounded so mad..."

Kenny sighed, resting his chin on top of her head. "I wasn’t mad, sweetheart. I was worried. You mean so much to me, and I can’t stand the thought of you getting hurt."

Dawn sniffled, her tears starting to subside. "I just wanted to do something nice for you..."

Kenny pulled back slightly, cupping her face in his hands. "And I appreciate it more than you know. But next time, please don’t put yourself in danger for me, okay?"

Dawn nodded, a small smile tugging at her lips. "Okay."

Kenny kissed her forehead gently before grabbing a blanket from the corner of the room and wrapping it around her shoulders. "Now, let’s get you warmed up and make sure you’re okay."

Dawn giggled softly as he tucked the blanket snugly around her. "You’re such a softie, Kenny."

Kenny smirked, brushing a strand of hair out of her face. "Only for you, Dee Dee."
