Chapter 25- The Dreamscape
JAMES' P.O.V.
I open my eyes, and see nothing but white.
'Where the hell am I?', I think.
"You're in the Dreamscape.", a voice says.
I quickly turn around, but no one's there.
"Wh- who are you?!", I shout, my voice echoing into the white void.
"I'm Xerneas.", the voice says.
My eyes widen as I remember the deer that I saw so many years ago.
"Y- you're that deer I saw!", I say in realization.
The same deer from before, suddenly appears right in front of me.
"Indeed I am James.", she says with a smile.
"What happened to me?", I ask.
"You were shot in the chest by Samantha Thompson.", she explains.
I gasp, as I now remember what happened.
"Am I... dead?", I ask.
She smiles.
"Not quite, but you were close. In fact, you technically WERE dead. For about two minutes. But the humans were able to revive you in time.", Xerneas says.
"So where am I now, in reality?", I ask.
"As of now, you're in a hospital. I put you in a coma so that way you could fully recover from your injury. It's been around two months now. As of tomorrow, I will have you wake up from your coma, for you are almost completely healed. And I should also congratulate you.", Xerneas says.
"Congratulate me on what?", I ask in confusion.
"On your child of course.", she says.
My eyes widen.
"Child?! What're you-", but I stop mid sentence as I realize who Xerneas is talking about.
"Oh my god... Hope.", I whisper to myself.
Xerneas nods.
"She's pregnant with your child.", Xerneas says.
I look at Xerneas.
"How the hell is that supposed to work? I thought two separate species of mammals couldn't have babies from mating! So what, is my child gonna be some weird abomination of nature or something like that?", I say.
Xerneas smiles again.
"Don't worry, your child won't be like that. She'll look just like her mother, but she'll be able to talk actual words. So other humans will be able to understand her.", Xerneas says.
"Well, that's sorta a relief.", I say.
"I must go now. It was nice seeing you again James Johnson. I hope we'll cross paths again one day.", Xerneas says as she starts to fade away.
"Hopefully it won't be during a similar situation like the one I'm having now.", I say.
Xerneas chuckles, then she's completely gone.
Right as I fall back to sleep, I hear the faint sound of a steady heart monitor, beeping.
