Gym Three

"Brycen?" I ask, "as in the former gym leader?"

"Yeah," Brycen replies, "Hilbert saw me as a threat and took my trainer's license. He was worried my ice Pokémon could defeat his Zekrom. I gotta ask, why are you doing this?"

"One reason is that I can't sit idly by while this region falls apart around me."

"You said one reason," Brycen inquires, "what's the other?"

"I don't want to talk about it," I reply, "let's go." We head the the studio. I'm given a team of Pokémon based off of Alder's. I'm told to lose the battle. I have no intention of following the script. I get on the stage. The actor playing Hilbert grins.

"You are a fool," he smirks, "it has always been meant to be this way. Bloodshed is the way battling was meant to be! Surrender Alder!"

My line is, "you're right..." Instead I reply, "have you seen what bloodshed has done? Did you see what happened in Hohhen? You are a cold-blooded murderer. I will stop you, no matter the cost.

The actor bursts out laughing. "Well then," he smirks, "you haven't seen how strong Pokémon can become when they kill. Here Greg, let me show you." He sends out Darkrai. Well, now I'm in deep shit. This isn't some actor, this is Hilbert!

"Fight me," he smirks. I refuse. "Do it!" He demands.

"So you can kill my Pokémon?" I ask, "you're a coward. Always hiding behind Darkrai, challenging anyone you know can't beat you. This is a one-sided battle, and I will not get the shit beaten out of these Pokémon to make you look good."

"I could kill you," Hilbert smirks.

I slowly reach into my pack. "So," I stall as I search for something hard, "you really do believe in killing don't you? What happened to you Hilbert? You stopped team Plasma to prevent Ghetsis from putting such beliefs into action, but then butchered the elite four's Pokémon. Afterwards, you killed Alder's too. Why? You did so much good."

Hilbert holds a cracked premier ball. He strokes it gently. "He showed me the truth," Hilbert replies, "Ghetsis taught me something I'll never froget. If a Pokémon holds back, even a little, against a foe who intends to kill them, they will die. He killed my Victini, Victory."

"Real creative name there," I comment.

"He laughed," Hilbert continues, "that haunting, malicious laugh. Then, there was darkness, and next, victory, but it wasn't enough, I wanted more, no, I needed more. I killed his Pokémon, all of them. I need to be stronger, I will hold nothing back. I will not lose again. Stay out of my way kid, this is your only warning. Now, shall we finish up this film?"

"Funny thing about that," I reply grabing the hard core of a petcha berry, "I already have." I throw it at Hilbert and sprint away. I dash for the exit. The owner of the studio stops me. "Nice work kid!" He congratulates, "this'll be a hit for sure! Someone standing up to Hilbert live? Million dollar scene right there! How can I repay you?"

"You got a boat right?" I ask.

"Yeah," the owner replies, "what about it?"

"Can you give me a ride to Burgh's gym?" I ask.

"I guess,"  the owner replies, "but we better go now, before Hilbert gets angry." The owner shows me to his yacht, and we head to the next town. After finally arriving, I continue to the gym, but I run into Hugh, chasing a Plasma grunt. I notice a patch on the grunt's uniform, a black skull and crossbones surrounded by a ring of fire. Hilbert's symbol that he puts at the entrance of every gym. I had overlooked it before because I didn't think much of it, but why does a Plasma grunt have that symbol?

I order Blaze to use rollout, tripping the grunt. "So," I ask, "whatcha steal?"

The grunt gets back up. "What's rightfully ours," the grunt replies.

"Let me handle this," Hugh stops me from acting any further, "you're gonna return my Oshawot."

I look around at the city. It's infested with various bug type Pokémon. Garvantula webs are scattered throughout, and venipedes scutter about freely. One wrong step and I'm lunch for some bug. I grab the grunt by the collar. "Give back the Oshawot," I growl.

"It's our rightful property!" The grunt replies, "the egg was Plasma property before this kid snatched it and hatched it! He stole it from a warehouse a year ago!"

"And you took such GREAT care of it," I sarcastically snap back, "it's not yours, not anymore. Give it back."

"No!" The grunt replies. I throw the grunt into a web. A garvantula slowly begins to crawl towards him. The grunt screams as a garvantula slowly crawls towards him.

"Give it back," I demand, "and I'll burn the web." He hands me the pokeball containing Oshawot. I give it to Hugh. I order Blaze to burn the web.

The grunt scurries away like the coward he is. "Thanks man," High thanks me.

"No problem," I reply. I continue to Burgh's gym. Avoiding the bug Pokémon as they scitter about. I notice there's not many people out, and those that are out have rock Pokémon with them.

The most consistent thing, is that they're afraid. They're all afraid that they'll become a venipede's next meal. That a garvantula will nest next to their house. This was once the crown jewel of Unova's achievement and industry. Now, it's a city of fear.

I enter the gym. The gym is even worse than the streets. It's a massive bug nest. Burgh, the Bloodbath Battler, is the only trainer, and he's at the top.

I begin to work my way up, avoiding garvantulas, joltiks, venipedes, whilipedes, and other bug Pokémon. Doing so is difficult to say the least. I'm forced to climb up webs and go atop nests. I finally reach the top, and the look on Burgh's face makes it all worth it. His jaw is wide open, and his eyes are wide as dinner plates.

"How the hell did you get up here?" Burgh asks.

"I climbed," I reply, "let's get to the point."

"Nah," Burgh replies.

"What?" I demand.

"This gym was designed so that no one would dare come up here," Burgh explains, "I'm not really ready for a battle."

"Let me ask you something," I grin, "I just climbed up Garvantula webs and Venipede mounds. Does it look like I give a flying fuck about what you want?"

I send out Blaze. "Send out your Pokémon," I demand, "or better yet, give up without a fight."

Burgh sends out his Pokémon, and Blaze being a fire type, the battle is extremely easy.

"Listien and listien good," I demand, "this city was once the crown jewel of Unova, and you and Hilbert tore it to shreds. Call an exterminator or something. I'll be back in a few days. If things haven't improved, I'll burn this gym down, understood?"

"Yeah," Burgh replies, "but if you fail, I'll have no choice but to return this city to it's former state. I wouldn't stand a chance against Hilbert."

I leave the gym. I proceed to leave town. However, a man in a black, blood-stained lab coat blocks the way...
