(Emily's POV)

"Cyndaquil, I'm coming!" Emily ran after the Ariados who took Cyndaquil.

"Quil!" Cyndaquil cried.

As the Ariados used the trees to its advantage, occasionally disappearing from sight.

Emily skidded to a stop when she realised that she couldn't find that Ariados. Cyndaquil's cries for help was gone as well.

"Cyndaquil!" Emily shouted, but there was no reply.

Upset, she sat on a large stone, unsure of what to do. I promised that I will always be there for Cyndaquil, but I am not there for him now, she thought sadly.

"Wooper?" the sound of a Pokemon reached her ear.

A light blue Pokemon with stick-like things that resemble whiskers hopped over to her. "Wooper!" it called.

At first, Emily ignored the Pokemon, but it was persistent. It used Water Gun on her to get her attention, which worked.

"Just leave me alone," she snapped.

"Wooper! Wooper!" it kept calling.

That was when Emily realised that the Pokemon seemed to be wondering what's wrong with her.

"I'm sorry," she muttered. "It's just that I just lost a Pokemon very dear to me."

"Wooper?" it seemed to ask a question.

"An Ariados took my Cyndaquil," Emily said hesitantly, wondering if the Pokemon could understand her words.

"Wooper!" it cried, beginning to bounce away.

Is it trying to lead me somewhere? Emily wondered, following it.

The Pokemon was fast and agile, bouncing over logs that is in its way easily.

Emily almost crashed into a tree when it stopped abruptly. She looked up, surprised to see a large wooden hut.

"Why did you bring me here?" she asked.

"Wooper," the Pokemon said, beginning to slam on the door.

There was a click - the sound of the door being opened. The person who opened it was a female, and she looked quite young, but definitely older than Emily.

She was wearing a pair of pink, rubber gloves and wore a shirt with a flower design, complete with a pair of jeans. "What's the matter, Wooper?"

"Wooper! Wooper!" it gestured to Emily.

"Who are you?" Emily asked.

"Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Carina and I live in this forest," she replied. "Please, come in."

When they were inside the cozy hut, Carina turned to Emily.

"So, what seems to be the matter?" she asked kindly.

"My Cyndaquil was taken by a group of Spinarak with an Ariados as their leader," Emily explained, feeling a wave of sadness as she remembered the scene. "I tried to follow, but that Ariados seemed to just disappear."

"So that's why Wooper brought you here," Carina mused.

"Wooper? So that's what this Pokemon is called?" Emily said.

"Yes, many of them live in that big lake, along with a few Quagsire and other Water type Pokemon," Carina said, patting the Wooper gently.

Wooper stared up at Emily and gave her a smile.

"By the way, you should avoid touching Wooper with bare hands," Carina piped up. "Its body is covered with a layer of film, which keeps Wooper's skin from drying up. However, it is very poisonous."

"Got it," Emily answered.

"Now, onto the case about your Cyndaquil," Carina began. "For as long as I can remember, the Spinarak and the Ariados shared a fierce rivalry with the Pokemon of the birch forest, which is not far from here. While the oak forest is ruled by the Bug type Pokemon, the birch forest is ruled by a group of Ferroseed and Ferrothorn. When their forest ran out of berries, they began to invade the Ariados' territory."

"Couldn't they fight back?" Emily questioned.

"Yes, they did, but they were no natch for the lead Ferrothorn's powerful Steel and Rock type moves," she sighed. "Not to mention Ferroseed's powerful Explosion attack."

"Since Ferrothorn is a Grass and Steel type, Fire type moves would be great against it," Carina continued.

"So that's why they took Cyndaquil?" Emily exclaimed.

"Yes," Carina nodded solemnly.

"Then what should I do?" Emily asked. "I have no other Pokemon, and I don't know where the Ariados is hiding."

"Wooper!" Wooper called.

"Wooper knows the way," Carina said, smiling.

"Thank you for all your help!" Emily called as she began to rush out.

"Wait!" Carina called her back. "There's something bothering me."

"What is it?" Emily asked impatiently.

"Wild Ferroseed usually live in caves and get their food from sucking up iron from the rocks. But for some reason, they settled in that forest. It is unusual to see them there, and to see the berries gone so fast," she said seriously. "Whatever you do, be careful. This may be more complicated than you think."

"I know," Emily said, feeling a singe of worry. "I will be careful."

"Good luck!" Carina called. "Maybe you could be the one who will end the fighting between the Pokemon, once and for all."
