Previously on Pokemon Chaos and Order...

Ash and Serena got to a garden near Striaton City, called 'the Dreamyard'. After it is revealed that our heroes are being watched, someone manipulates Serena's dream, causing her to be terrified of Ash.

Serena runs away from Ash and hides in a forest, eventually falling off a cliff.

In an amazing example of teamwork Ash and his Pokemon use their various skills to save Serena and show her that Ash has no malicious intentions, and only wants the best for her. Serena also might've had a realization about Ash and her own feelings.

"Look! There it is!" Ash said excitingly, pointing at the city downhill. "ASH! SLOW DOWN!" Serena tried to say while breathing heavily, trying to catch up with Ash. Ash turns back to her and giggles. "If you wanna catch up... YOU'RE GONNA HAVE TO CATCH ME!" "PIKACHU!" Ash and Pikachu exclaimed before 'surfing' down the dirt hill they were on.

Serena took a moment to catch her breath as she made her way to the top of the hill. After catching her breath, she followed in Ash's footsteps and starts to surf down the hill after him.

"That's no way to treat a lady Ash!" She teases him while catching up to him. "IF YOU WANTED ME TO TREAT YOU LIKE A LADY THEN YOU SHOULD START ACTIN' LIKE ONE!" He teased back.

"Oh you DID NOT just say that!" She smirked. "FINE! FIRST ONE TO REACH THE STRIATON GYM WINS A BROWNIE POINT!" "PIKA!" Ash says as he increases his speed. "OH YOU'RE ON!" She says while increasing her own speed.

After a couple more seconds, the two of them hit the ground. They don't think that's enough though, and the two start to run at top speed to the Striaton City Gym.

The two friends (yes, Serena was able to try and think of Ash as more than just a boy... FOR NOW!) hurry up to a weirdly shaped building, to which they presume to be the Gym.

"I'M GONNA GET THERE FIRST!" Serena proudly proclaimed while running, somehow getting ahead of Ash. "IN YOUR DREAMS MS. NO!" Ash teased, while picking up his own speed.

The two then run side-by-side, until they both arrive at the Gym together... and out of breath. The two then collapse to the ground, trying to rest. They then start to laugh.

After a few minutes of catching their breath, Ash and Serena get up and start to walk to the Gym. "So how does this 'Gym Battle Challenge' even work?" Serena asked in curiosity.

"Well..." Ash began to explain. "In every Region there're at least 8 Pokemon battle institutions, called 'Gyms'. Each Gym has a specific Trainer that you have to battle, known as a Gym Leader. Each Gym Leader specializes in a particular Pokemon Elemental Type. After you defeat the Gym Leader, you earn yourself a Gym Badge, a symbol of honor and proof that you defeated a specialist!"

Ash continued. "Earn yourself at least 8 Gym Badges and you're allowed to enter the Pokemon League. In the league, you have to battle dozens of Trainers who also earned 8 Gym Badges, until you're the last Trainer qualified. After finishing the League Conference, you are allowed to challenge the 4 strongest Trainers in the Region, the Elite 4. Defeat them and you get to battle the Champion, the strongest Trainer in the Region! Defeat him or her... AND YOU BECOME THE NEW CHAMPION!"

All the while that Ash was explaining his goals, Serena was listening carefully. 'Ash has a dream...' she thought to herself. 'Do I have a dream...?'

Serena's thoughts were interrupted by their arrival in a big salon that looks like a restaurant.

Two waiters then walks up to Ash and Serena. One had red eyes and red hair. He was wearing a black and white waiter outfit with a red bowtie and a white apron wrapped around his waist. The other had the same clothes and overall appearance to the first except blue instead of red.

"Hello, my name is Chilli" said the red. "And I'm Cress! Welcome to the Butler Café..." the blue said. "Shall we escort the two lovebirds to a table for two?" They asked in unison. Ash and Serena's faces began to heat up and turn a deep shade of tomato-red.

"N... NO!" Ash tried to say in embarrassment. "I'm here to challenge the Striaton Gym!" The two smiled. "Okay then, sorry for the embarrassing misunderstanding..." they apologized. "Please follow us..."

Ash, Serena, Cress and Chilli then go to the back of the restaurant, revealing a Battlefield.

In the middle of the Battlefield is standing another waiter. He is wearing the same outfit as Chilli and Cress, except his bowtie is green. His eyes and hair are also green.

"Welcome to the Striaton City Gym!" He welcomed Ash. "I'm Cilan! Your Gym Leader for the day! And today you shall either feel the sweet taste of victory, or the bitterness of defeat!"

Ash walked up to the Battlefield, while Serena walked to the audience stand. "My name is Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town!" He exclaimed. "And I'm here to become the Unova League Challenge!"

Serena's eyes widened. 'He's a Kanto native?' She thought to herself. 'Maybe he IS the boy who saved me back then...' Cilan then pulled out a Pokeball.

"My specialities are cooking... AND GRASS TYPE POKEMON! SO LET'S GO! MARACTUS!" Cilan exclaimed while throwing his Pokeball up in the air, releasing his first Pokemon.

It is a cactus-like Pokemon, with large ear-like extensions. These extensions feature dark green spiky arrangements at the base, yellow spikes further up, and flowers, with pink petals and yellow centers, at the top. It has a yellow spike on its head, yellow eyes and a spiky-looking mouth. Other dark green spiky arrangements adorn its neck, the wrists of its yellow-fingered arms, and base. Its base features further such green spikes arranged in a five-pointed star.

"MARACTUS!" It cried out while dancing the cha-cha. "I've never seen this Pokemon before..." Ash murmured, pulling out his Pokedex.

Maractus, the Cactus Pokémon

When Maractus dance in rhythm, they sound like maracas shaking. They make their homes in dry desert-like areas.

Ash smiled. "That's a pretty memorable Pokemon to battle against!" He said, pulling out a Pokeball. "Alright, FLETCHLING I CHOOSE YOU!" He cried out while throwing the Pokeball, releasing his Fletchling.

"Fletchling! Fletchling Fletch!" It chirped happily, ready to battle. The Gym referee then walked up to the center of the Battlefield.

"The Gym battle between Cilan the Gym Leader and Ash the challenger is about to get underway!" He exclaimed. "This is going to be a 2-on-2 battle! The battle will be over when both Pokemon of either side are unable to continue! Only the challenger will be allowed to substitute... ALRIGHT! BATTLE BEGIN!"

Cilan and Maractus started the battle. "ALRIGHT MARACTUS, LET'S START THINGS OFF WITH SUNNY DAY!" He commanded. Maractus' eyes then started to glow red and yellow. "MARA... CTUS!" It cried up to the sky, causing the Gym's skylight to open and the sunlight to intensify.

Ash and Fletchling then shielded their eyes, not expecting the harsh sunlight. 'Man... I wasn't expectin' that' Ash thought to himself. "That's not gonna help you a lot! FLETCHLING USE ACROBATICS!" Ash commanded.

"Fletch... LING!" It chirped as its body started to glow blue. Fletchling then began to zip around the battlefield before it started to dive into Maractus. "Maractus dodge it please!" Cilan asked his Maractus, who's body began to glow in a green aura before dodging Fletchling's Acrobatics with incredible speed.

"WHOA! IT'S SO FAST!" Ash exclaimed in surprise. "Why of course!" Cilan spoke up "My Maractus' ability is Chlorophyll!" Ash suddenly gasped, "Huh? AH OF COURSE!" Ash exclaimed.

"ASH!" Serena called out to Ash from the sidelines. "What does Chlorophyll do?" "Chlorophyll is an ability that increases a Pokemon's speed while it's sunny..." Ash explained. 'Using Sunny Day with a Pokemon that has Chlorophyll is a brilliant strategy... I have to think about a new strategy...'

"If you're not gonna make a move..." Cilan began, snapping Ash out of his thoughts, "Then I will! MARACTUS USE PIN MISSILE!" He commanded. "MARA!" Maractus cried as it pointed its claws forward, causing its spikes to glow white, before shooting out white pins surrounded by a lime-green aura. Keep in mind that it did all of this in just a second or two.

"Ah! FLETCHLING DODGE QUICK!" Ash quickly commanded, just a little too late. Pin Missile made a direct hit. "DON'T LET FLETCHLING RECOVER! USE NEEDLE ARM!" Cilan quickly called out.

Maractus' arms then became surrounded with green energy-orbs with four spikes in it. Maractus then charges forward with blinding speed, hitting Fletchling directly. "FLETCHLING!" Ash called out, worried about Fletchling.

"Fletchling... can you still battle?" Ash asked Fletchling, who was now lying on the floor. "Fletch... FLETCHLING!" Fletchling quickly stood up and spread its wings with pride. "ALRIGHT! THAT'S THE SPIRIT BUDDY! "PIKA PIKACHU!" Ash and Pikachu cheered up Fletchling.

Serena was looking worried. 'I've never seen Ash battling before... But I know he can win!' She thought to herself before standing up. "COME ON ASH! SHOW THAT GUY WHO'S GOING TO BE THE FUTURE CHAMPION!" She called out to Ash. Ash was struggling to figure out a new strategy to battle Cilan, when Serena reminded him of what he can do. Ash suddenly thought back to when he saved Serena from that Watchog and something in his mind clicked.

'SERENA'S RIGHT!' The present day Ash thought to himself in the Gym Battle. 'I'M GOING TO WIN THIS! NO DOUT!' "ALRIGHT FLETCHLING! I HAVE A PLAN!" Ash called out to his Fletchling. "FLETCHLING!" Fletchling called back to its Trainer, waiting for its orders. "NO MATTER WHAT YOU'RE PLANNING IT WON'T WORK AS PLANNED!" Cilan tried to intimidate Ash, "USE NEEDLE ARM!"

Maractus then used Needle Arm again, and charged towards Fletchling, still with incredible speed, leaving a green trail of energy behind it. "FLETCHLING! NOW USE DOUBLE TEAM!" Ash commanded. Fletchling nodded before starting to vibrate its body and moving from side-to-side with incredible speed, creating the illusion of multiple clones.

Maractus suddenly stops in its tracks, not knowing which Fletchling is the real one. "Having a lot of speed doesn't help if you don't know who to attack!" Ash chuckled. Cilan started to worry a bit himself. "Maractus!" He called out to Maractus. "We're just gonna have to attack all of them! USE PIN MISSILE!" Maractus then shot out its Pin Missile attack, trying to hit the real Fletchling.

"NOW FLETCHLING! ACROBATICS!" Ash commanded. The real Fletchling was revealed to be standing behind Maractus. Fletchling then quickly zipped through the air and hit Maractus directly, Maractus not being prepared. "MARACTUS!" Cilan called out to his Maractus. When the dust cleared, Maractus was lying on the ground. "MARACTUS IS UNABLE TO BATTLE! FLETCHLING WINS!" The referee proclaimed.

Cilan returned his Maractus to its Pokeball. "We tasted defeat, but you spiced the battle up!" Cilan spoke to the Pokeball. "Now take a nice rest..." Cilan then pulled out his second Pokeball. "LET'S TASTE DEFEAT TOGETHER! GO PANSAGE!" He called out while throwing his Pokeball up in the air, releasing his second Pokémon.

It was a simian, green-and-cream Pokémon. It had oval, black eyes, large ears with light green insides, and a tiny, black nose. There is a broccoli-like sprout atop its head. In the sprout's foliage are three yellow, tapered seed-like shapes. Its muzzle, upper body, and skinny forelimbs are cream-colored, and its hands seem to have no fingers, aside from a thumb. Its lower body is green with small feet, and its long tail is tipped with two leaves. It's of course, a Pansage.

"PAN PANSAGE!" It cried out. "Never seen that Pokémon before either..." Ash murmured as he pulled out his Pokedex.

Pansage, the Grass Monkey Pokémon

Pansage offers leaves on its head to Pokémon that have low energy. The leaves relieve stress.

'This one might be tough...' Ash thought to himself. "'K Fletchling! Hang in there!" Ash assured his Fletchling, who just nodded and kept flapping its wings. Serena meanwhile saw the determination and friendship in Ash's eyes, even though she's seating far away from him. 'Wow...' She thought to herself in realization. 'Ash believes in his Pokémon... he allows them to make their own decisions... he really is different! He cares about his Pokémon... and about his friends... I can't believe I blinded myself so much from a single bad experience in my past...'

"ALRIGHT FLETCHLING USE PECK!" Ash commanded. "Fletch!" It nodded before flying towards Pansage, as its beak began to glow white. "OH NO YOU DON'T! USE WORK UP!" Cilan commanded Pansage. Pansage suddenly raised up its arms in the air, and becomes surrounded by a red aura.

Once Fletchling got super-close to Pansage, it raised its head up and fiercely pecked the top of Pansage's head, creating a cloud of smoke. As soon as the smoke cleared, it is revealed that Pansage was barely affected, and Peck only left a dirt mark. "BUT HOW?!" Ash wondered, knowing that Work Up only raises the user's Attack stat. Cilan chuckled, "You're gonna need more than that to defeat my Pnasage! NOW USE ROCK TOMB!" "WHAT?!" Ash cried out in surprise and confusion.

"FLETCHLING USE DOUBLE TEAM! QUICK!" Ash swiftly thought of a counter-strategy. Fletchling quickly created the illusion of clones once again. 'It won't work this time!' Cilan thought to himself. Pansage then raised its hands up in the air, causing a plethora of heavy boulders, surrounded by a white aura, to appear out of nowhere.

"SPREAD THEM!" Cilan commanded. "HIT ALL THE CLONES AT ONCE!" "Paaaan... SAAGE!" Pansage let out its cry as it quickly pulled its arms appart, causing the boulders to spread out around the battlefield, causing at least one of them to hit each one of the clones. "FLETCHLING NO!" Ash cried out, seeing the Rock Tomb hit Fletchling. Fletchling quickly fell to the ground, it tried to get up, but eventually it had no more energy left in it, and it collapsed.

"FLETCHLING IS UNABLE TO BATTLE! PANSAGE WINS!" The referee exclaimed. "Fletchling return!" Ash said as he pulled out Fletchling's Pokeball and returned it to it. "Take a good rest, you deserve it!" Ash spoke to the Pokeball. Ash then turned his head to Serena. 'You're right Serena...' he thought to himself. 'You were right back then... and I know you're still right now! I came up with "Don't give up 'till it's over" but you taught me what it really meant!' Ash smiled to Serena as he put Fletchling's Pokeball back in his belt. 'I'm going to win this just for you!'

Ash turned over to Pikachu. "'K Pikachu, are you up for this?" "PIKACHU!" It answered giving its Trainer an arm pump and running towards the battlefield. "I'll take that as a 'yes'". "OKAY PANSAGE! SPICE THINGS UP WITH SEED BOMB!" Cilan commanded. Pansage then opened its mouth and shot a barrage of glowing seeds at Pikachu.

"DODGE IT AND USE QUICK ATTACK!" Ash commanded. "PIKA!" Pikachu squeaked while dodging Pansage's Seed Bomb attack, even though the seeds were exploding behind him. "Pi... KAAch... PIKA PIKA PIKA PIKA PIKA PIKA!" Pikachu then becomes surrounded by a white aura as it lunges at Pansage with incredible speed, hitting Pansage directly.

"NOW PANSAGE! USE ROCK TOMB ONCE MORE!" Pansage quickly got back up on its feet and launched its Rock Tomb attack against Pikachu. "NOT THIS TIME!" Ash exclaimed. "USE IRON TAIL! HURL 'EM BACK AT IT!" Pikachu then used Iron Tail as a bat to whack the boulders back at Pansage all the while squeaking, "PIKA! CHUA... PIKA!"

Pansage was able to dodge most of the boulders but it got hit by one of them, causing it to get thrown off balance for just a moment. "NOW'S OUR CHANCE!" Ash proudly and loudly exclaimed. "NOW! USE THUNDERBOLT!" "PIIII... KAAAAAAA... CHUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" Pikachu squeaked as it rubbed its paws on its cheeks, causing yellow and blue sparks to fly out of them. Pikachu then becomes surrounded by a yellow and blue electric aura, before releasing all of its electricity at once into the form of a powerful yellow and blue lightning bolt surrounded by purple rings.

Thunderbolt hits Pansage directly, causing a huge amount of damage. Ash's, Pikachu's, Serena's and Cilan's hearts were all pounding, waiting for the dust cloud that was created to dissipate. Once it did, Pansage has collapsed down to the floor, completely out of energy. "PANSAGE IS UNABLE TO BATTLE! PIKACHU WINS! WHICH MEANS THE VICTORY GOES TO THE CHALLENGER... ASH!" The referee exclaimed as Cilan returned Pansage to its Pokeball.

"YES!" Ash exclaimed while jumping up and down. "WE DID IT PIKACHU! WE WON OUR FIRST GYM BADGE!" "PI PIKACHU!" Pikachu squeaked happily, as it jumped up to Ash, giving it a big hug. Cilan then walked up to Ash. "We might've tasted the bitterness of defeat, but at least we were defeated by an amazing competitor!" Cilan congratulated Ash on his victory. "As proof you beat me, I award you with this... THE TRIO BADGE!"

Cilan gave Ash the Badge he deserved. The Trio Badge was shaped like a bow tie. It may also bear a resemblance to an opened pea pod, which contains two large peas one green and one blue, with a smaller red pea at the center.

Ash happily took his prize. "Thanks a lot Cilan!" He said while taking a moment to marble at his achievement. Ash then put the Badge in the Badge Case he received from Professor Juniper.

Serena quickly ran up to the battlefield. "CONGRATULATIONS ASH!" She happily congratulated her friend. Before Ash could respond, something explodes in the Gym. As Ash, Serena, Cilan, Chilli, and Cress stand up to investigate, they hear giggling.

"PREPARE FOR TROUBLE YOU KNOW THE DRILL!" They heard a woman say.

"AND MAKE IT DOUBLE, YOU'LL GET YOUR FILL!" A man replied to her.

'Why did they follow me up to Unova?' Ash thinks to himself before hearing the woman continue, "TO PROTECT THE WORLD FROM DEVASTATION!"

"TO UNITE ALL PEOPLE WITHIN OUR NATION!" The man replied. "I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS!" Ash screamed at the two who appeared in front of them.

"PIKACHU USE THUNDERBOLT!" Ash swiftly commanded, "PIII... KAAAAAA... CHUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" Pikachu squeaked as it released another blast of powerful energy at the two, causing an explosion.

The two are revealed to have been flung up in the air with incredible speed, all blaming each other for what happened, their feline Pokemon revealing that it can talk. Though if there's one thing they can all agree on is that... "WE'RE BLASTING OFF AGAIN!" They all yell as the sore higher and higher until they dissapear, leaving only a sparkle in their place.

Serena then turns over to Ash, "Who are they Ash?" She asked curious. "That's a long story..." He answered her. "But don't worry, we have a long trip! SO LET'S GO!" He calls out as he starts to run out of the Gym, Serena quickly running after him.

Hey guys! Let me just explain a few things that might be confusing in this Chapter. Number one is that off 'screen' Ash's Pikachu learned Quick Attack instead of Discharge. And number two is that I'm sorry Team Rocket had a rushed first appearance... don't worry though! They're gonna get A MUCH MORE important role down the line. Here's next Chapter's summary:

Ash and Serena start to head over to Virbank City, sight of Ash's second Gym Battle challenge. On their way there they encounter a Trainer from the Kalos Region called Nate.

The mysterious group called Team Rocket then suddenly attack the three but are scared off by two Trainers, named Trip and Miette. Serena has a gut feeling that she saw Trip in the past and Ash has the same feeling for Miette.

Who can our heroes trust? Who will be their new Traveling Companion and who will end up stabbing our heroes in the back? What do Team Rocket have to do with this?
