Previously in Pokemon Chaos and Order...

Serena had her second Showcase and despite problems and others trying to put her down she was able to win with flying colors.

Our heroes have also met a Performer named Star Beautifly (she's gonna be more relevant later)

The next day...

Serena and Dawn decided to have an early day practicing routine. It was Dawn's Piloswine vs Serena's Piplup, the two trying to see who can dispel the other's attack in the most elegant and creative way.

"PILOSWINE! USE ICE SHARD!" Dawn commanded. Piloswine creates a light blue ball of energy between its tusks and then blue shards of multiple variants of blue colored ice shards shoot from its nose, with a light blue aura surround the shards, leaving behind a light blue trail behind them.

"Oh no you don't!" Serena exclaimed. "USE DRILL PECK!" Piplup's beak starts spinning like a drill. Piplup then jumps up and starts to spin around its own axis, causing the Ice Shards to be disintegrated like a tree through a wood chipper.

"NOW BUBBLE BEAM!" Serena commanded. The inside of Piplup's beak glows light blue and it takes in a deep breath. It then releases multiple light blue and orange bubbles from its beak at Piloswine.

"PILOSWINE! USE FURY ATTACK!" Dawn commanded. Piloswine's tusks then flashed white before rapidly stabbing the bubbles, causing them to pop.

"I think it's a good time to call it a day!" Dawn said before recalling Piloswine. "Agreed!" Serena said before recalling Piplup.

Ash then came out of the Pokemon Center. "ALRIGHT! Next stop the Mistralton Gym!" "PIKACHU!" He and Pikachu exclaimed happily.

Our heroes then started to walk around Mistralton City and soon, they found the Gym.

But to say that the place was crowded would be and understatement. The four were baffled by the amount of people in line to the Gym. "Whoa! Why so many people want to challenge the Gym now?!" Ash thought out loud.

"It's crowded like this everyday..." the four heard a man's voice behind them. When they turned around they saw who the man who spoke was.

"Excuse me but... who are you?" Nate asked. "My name is Miles, I'm the former Gym Leader and the current Gym Leader's grandfather..." he explained.

"How can the Gym Leader have so many battles in just one day?" Nate questioned. Before Miles could answer though, an airplane started to lose altitude near them and was about to land.

"You'll see..." Miles chuckled as the plane landed. As soon as it did, a woman hopped out of the plane, not wearing your usual pilot uniform.

"Welcome all of today's challengers!" She exclaimed cheerfully. "I hope you've made reservations! Cause today's Sky Battles won't be easy!"

"Sky Battles?" Ash questioned. "What are those?" (Don't!) A little kid waiting in line overheard Ash's conversation and decided to butt in. "Only the most amazing type of battle!" He exclaimed. "Look! Skyla's about to have one now!"

The kid pointed out to a the first Trainer in line. He was a boy with dark-brown hair and brown eyes. He had a little mole next to his right cheek. He was wearing a red hoodie.

"Well Skyla I hope you're ready to face Marco Diaz's awesome Pokemon powerhouses!" He exclaimed before grabbing two Pokeballs out of his belt. "SAWK AND HAWLUCHA! LET'S GO!" He exclaimed while throwing the two Pokeballs high in the air.

Two Pokemon came out. One was a bipedal, humanoid Pokemon with a lean, blue body and rocky skin. Its head is oblong-like and low on its shoulders, with an ornate sideways z-shaped black feature that forms its nose and its left brow. Its hands and feet each have three digits, with its feet and toes coming to a sharp point. It wears a light blue Karate gi with a black, v-neck collar that extends down to its black belt.

The second was a small, bipedal bird-like Pokemon. It has red, cape-like wings that are connected to its tail with green undersides and small clawed hands. It has red chest feathers, a white abdominal area and legs with small yellow feet. It has a green, mask-like face with an orange stripe down the middle, as well as orange rings around its eyes. It has a small, red beak, and a white patch underneath it. It also has three orange tassle-like appendages jutting out of the back of its head. Its eyes have black sclera and large yellow irises.

Both Pokemon let out their cries. 'Whoa! Check out those Pokemon!' Ash thought before checking the Pokedex.

Sawk, the Karate Pokemon.

Sawk train high up in the mountains by punching trees and rocks and the sound can be heard from far away.

Possessing an artistic way of executing its moves, Hawlucha takes great pride in their elegance.

"Now it's my turn!" The Gym Leader, Skyla, said as she took two Pokeballs out of her belt. "SWOOBAT AND SWANNA! BLAST OFF!" She exclaimed before throwing her Pokeballs high in the air, releasing her two Pokemon.

One was a blue, bat-like Pokemon. It has fused, pointed ears with striated, lighter colored insides and a pink, heart-shaped snout with a single nostril. Two wide, rounded teeth are visible in its lower jaw. A mane of shaggy, light blue fur surrounds its neck. Its black wings have a claw at the joint, and its small black feet have three toes each. It has a bare, pink tail that is twisted with two short prongs at the tip.

The other was a swan-like Pokemon with primarily white plumage. Its beak is long and yellow topped with a black cere, and it has several white feathery features adorning its head. It possesses a long, curving neck. With a fluid neck and a strong bill. Two light-blue feathery features, similar to those on the sides of its head, are present on its underside. Its legs are small.

'Okay, so let's see how these Sky Battles work...' Ash thought, ready to see some action. But the action he thought he was going to witness was a little less than what he bargained for...

Instead of calling an attack, Skyla closed her eyes and imagined the outcome of the battle. She imagined her Swoobat taking care of Marco's Sawk and her Swanna easily overpowering his Hawlucha.

After imagining the outcome of the battle, she shot her eyes open and had a confident, yet cocky smile on her face. "I'm sorry, but with these Pokemon you don't stand a chance against me..." she said. "No Badge for you today!"

"WHAT?!" Marco yelped in surprise. "That... that wasn't even a battle!" "Well this is how we work in my Gym!" Skyla exclaimed. "Now get out, you're holding the line!"

Marco had no idea on how to comeback at Skyla so he just walked away, pouting. Ash and the others meanwhile saw what happened with their jaws dropped.

"What..." Dawn said. "... the..." Nate continued. "... Distortion..." Serena continued. "... World...?!" Ash finished. "What was amazing about that?!" Ash questioned. "That wasn't even a battle! That was nothing!" Nate exclaimed.

The little kid from before then glared at them. "YES IT WAS!" He growled. "Skyla's so strong that she can tell the outcome of a battle by just imagining it!" Nate's face went red. "LIKE HECK SHE CAN!" He growled before stomping his way over to Skyla.

"HEY! Discount Emilia Erheart!" He said teasingly. "Excuse me you can't cut in line, you'll have to wait for your..." "I'M WON'T ALLOW THIS TO CONTINUE!" He yelled, interrupting Skyla.

Nate then sighed. "Look... Battles aren't just for quote unquote 'fun'..." he explained. "Battles test the bonds we share with our Pokemon. Our abilities to rise up from the ashes whenever we lose and to help others rise up from their ashes when we win. You can't predict with 100% the outcome of a battle!"

Skyla just sighed, creating a gust of wind that blew a stran of her hair upwards. "Then you don't know about me!" She said. "Listen, if you want to have a Battle then you go for it! But my schedule is soooooooo busy that I don't have time for battles!"

'Well then maybe you should check the length of the line of Trainers who want to face you daily!' He thought. Nate then smirked. "If you're so good at predicting the outcome of any battle with any challenger..." he took two Pokeballs from his belt. "Then I demand that you battle me in a real battle!" He then threw the two Pokeballs upward, releasing his Tyrunt and the Pokemon that his Honedge evolved into.

It was a Pokemon that resembled two swords sheathed on a plaque. Each sword has a pink eye with a black, linear pupil on the hilt, as well as a pink, tassel-like arm emerging from the handle. The swords are able to communicate telepathically, and they use this ability to carry out complex attacks that are unstoppable even to those skilled at swordplay.

"Unless of course... YOU CAN'T!" Nate exclaimed proudly. Skyla then imagined the outcome of the battle. 'It's gonna be hard but my Pokemon will eventually prevail...' she thought. 'But what the heck? I'll amuse him!'

"Okay kid, if you want a battle... that's what you'll get!" She said. "But don't say I didn't warn you when my Pokemon make you fall from haven!" "Believe me..." Nate said with a serious face. "THEY WON'T!"

Some time later...

Nate and Skyla entered the Mistralton Gym and stood on opposite sides of the Battlefield.

Miles then walked up to the referee stand. "The battle between Skyla, the Gym Leader, and Nate, the challenger is about to get underway..." "Grandpa we know the rules..." Skyla whisper-yelled to him.

Miles sighed and brought both of his arms upwards. "Alright! Battle begin!" He exclaimed. "I'M GONNA START THINGS OFF WITH DOUBLADE!" Nate exclaimed. "USE SWORDS DANCE!" He commanded.

Both of Doublade's swords were removed from their quilts and began to hit each other rhythmically. "THEN I'LL BE GOING WITH SWOOBAT!" Skyla exclaimed. "USE ASSURANCE!" She commanded.

Swoobat's eyes glowed purple, then its whole body became surrounded by a purple, shadowy aura. Swoobat then charged at Doublade striking it with its claws/talons.

'Dang it!' Nate thought. 'Assurance is a Super Effective attack! I gotta watch out for when I attack it!' Skyla smiled. "If you're not going to make a move, I will!" She exclaimed. "USE GUST!"

Swoobat's wings then glowed light blue and it began to flap them, releasing a powerful gust of wind. "DODGE IT AND THEN USE SWORDS DANCE AGAIN!" Nate counter-commanded. Doublade then did the same dance move as before to increase its attack power.

"USE ASSURANCE AGAIN!" Skyla commanded, causing Swoobat to charge at Doublade again. "DODGE IT AND THEN USE NIGHT SLASH!" Nate commanded. Doublade swiftly dodged Swoobat's attack before its two swords started to glow purple. It then charged at Swoobat and slashed it with both its swords.

"NOW USE SWORDS DANCE ONE MORE TIME!" Nate commanded, causing Doublade to "dance" again. 'Our attack power's at its max!' Nate thought while smirking. "LET'S FINISH THIS WITH ONE ATTACK! SACRED SWORD!" He commanded.

Doublade's body glows purple. Then a long, sword-shaped glowing, golden aura appeared on both of Doublade's swords. It then charged at Swoobat.

Instead of being intimidated however, Skyla was smirking. "NOW USE STORED POWER!" She commanded. Swoobat's eyes glowed white before it began to flap its wings, causing four pink/purple/blue fiery orbs to form and blast towards Doublade.

The orbs began to surround Doublade, before blasting it with purple and pink lightning blots, causing a huge explosion and a pink light, resembling a beacon, to blast upwards towards the sky.

"DOUBLADE NO!" Nate cried out in shock and worry for his Pokemon. When the dust settled, Doublade was lying down on the ground, knocked out cold. "Doublade is unable to battle!" Miles exclaimed. "Swoobat wins.

"You did your best Doublade, return..." Nate said before returning Doublade to its Pokeball. Nate then looked up at Skyla. "Now for my second Pokemon! TYRUNT! DO YOUR BEST!" He exclaimed while throwing his Pokeball forward, releasing his Tyrunt.

Tyrunt roared in pride and power, ready to battle. "TYRUNT! USE DRAGON CLAW!" Nate commanded. Tyrunt's claws then grow longer and glowed green. It then charged at Swoobat and sliced it with its claws.

"USE GUST!" Skyla commanded. Swoobat then flapped its wings again, creating another gust of wind. The gust of wind hit Tyrunt, but because of its weight, it didn't take a lot of damage.

"NOW ASSURANCE!" Skyla commanded. Swoobat then charged at Tyrunt with its talons glowing purple. "DRAGON TAIL!" Nate commanded. Tyrunt then jumped in the air, dodging Swoobat's attack before its tail became surrounded by a purple scale-covered aura and it slapped Swoobat.

"NOW FINISH IT OFF TYRUNT! ANCIENT POWER!" Nate commanded. Tyrunt then unleashed its Ancient Power attack at Swoobat, hitting it directly and causing a big explosion.

"OH NO SWOOBAT!" Skyla cried out in worry. When the smoke cleared, Swoobat was lying on the ground, knocked out cold. "Swoobat is unable to battle!" Miles exclaimed. "Tyrunt is the winner!"

Skyla then returned Swoobat to its Pokeball. "You flew too close to the sun..." Skyla whispered to the Pokeball. "You deserve a goid rest..." Skyla then wasted no-time in grabbing her second Pokeball. "SWANNA! BLAST OFF!" She exclaimed while throwing the Pokeball high in the air, releasing her star Pokemon.

"Let's see what you got!" Nate said with a smirk. "TYRUNT! USE ANCIENT POWER!" He commanded. Tyrunt then unleashed its Ancient Power attack aiming straight at Swanna. Skyla however, wasn't intimidated. "USE HURRICANE!" She commanded.

Swanna's wings then glow light blue and it began flap them, releasing a powerful, tornado-shaped gust of wind. The wind was so strong that it blew away Tyrunt's Ancient Power and kept going, hitting Tyrunt directly.

"If we can't attack from a distance we'll attack up close! CRUNCH GO!" Nate commanded. Tyrunt's jaw then became outlined with a white aura resembling teeth. Tyrunt then jumped towards Swanna, ready to chomp down on it.

"Not so fast..." Skyla said while wiggling her finger to say 'no'. "USE LIQUIDATION!" She commanded. Swanna's body then became surrounded by blue rings of water. It then flew straight for Tyrunt's stomach, leaving a streak of sparkling water droplets behind it.

Swanna's attack was strong enough to hurl Tyrunt downwards towards the battlefield, creating an explosion of dust and a huge crater where Tyrunt landed. "TYRUNT NO!" Nate cried out in worry.

"NOW LET'S FINISH THIS SWANNA!" Skyla said with a confident voice. "USE BRAVE BIRD!"

Swanna then flew high up into the sky with incredible speed. It then did a flip and began to nose (or in this case beak) dive back to the earth like a missile. The speed in which Swanna was going was enough to create enough air-friction to envelop Swanna in red-yellow flames.

Swanna the presumably crashed to the ground, creating a cloud of smoke. But almost immediately from said cloud of smoke, Swanna emerged, now flying at top speed towards Tyrunt, surrounded by a pixelated aura of blue and white flames (which made its body appear black and blue).

Tyrunt didn't have enough time to even process what was going on before it was hit by the full force of Swanna's Brave Bird attack. Swanna then pushed Tyrunt into the nearby Gym wall, crashing into it.

"TYRUNT!!!!!!!!" Nate cried out. After a few moments Swanna hovered back to its position, covered in dirt and panting uncontrollably. Tyrunt however came crashing down to the ground. When the dust settled, the battle was over.

"Tyrunt is unable to battle!" Miles exclaimed. "Swanna wins! Which means the victory goes to Skyla the Gym Leader!" Skyla then blew some hair away from her face. "Well that was a waste of time..." she said before returning Swanna to its Pokeball.

Nate then ran towards Tyrunt and knelt next to it. "You did incredibly well Tyrunt..." he whispered. "You deserve a good rest..." he then returned Tyrunt to its Pokeball.

"Well now that we know that my Sky Battles clearly are fair..." Skyla said before yawning. "I think I'm going to have to cancel the rest of the battles for today, I'm just so tired..."

"You can't predict the outcome of battles as well as you think Skyla!" Serena yelled to the Gym Leader. "My brother is a great Trainer! He might've lost to you but that means squat!" Skyla then walked over to our heroes.

"Look, I know you don't understand what it means to be busy all the time, grownup stuff..." she said, clearly undermining them. "But the results don't lie, I can see every possible outcome of a battle, and thus I can judge which Trainers deserve a badge and which Trainers don't. Your brother just proved that..."

"Oh yeah?!" Ash cut into the conversation. "Now listen to me Dr. Strange! You got lucky this time, but if you really think you can predict every, single, possible outcome of any battle... LET'S SEE YOU BATTLING ME!" "PIKACHU!" Pikachu agreed with its Trainer.

Ash then hopped off of the Audience stand and grabbed another Pokeball. "FLETCHINDER! I CHOOSE YOU!" He exclaimed while throwing his Pokeball high into the sky, releasing his Fire/Flying type Pokemon and one of his first captures.

Fletchinder let out a mighty skwak and it was clearly burning up with determination. Skyla took a glance at Fletchinder and Pikachu. "If you really want a battle with me I'll grant your wish..." she said.

"But I must warn you..." she continued. "Just like your friend, this battle will be difficult, but with the Pokemon you chose, only Pikachu can really beat my team!" "Then we'll be seeing you in exactly 24 hours!" Ash exclaimed.

After Nate's crushing defeat at the hand of Skyla, Ash decides to challenge her to a Pokemon battle, even though she claims he doesn't stand a chance.

Will Ash be able to overcome the challenge that Nate wasn't? Will he be able to win his 6th Gym Badge? Will Skyla learn her lesson?
