Previously in Pokemon Chaos and Order...

Our heroes encountered the Team Plasma Grunts Attila and Hun once again, this time they were trying to steal a bag from two Trainers named Kevin and Lillie.

After some instructions it is revealed that Kevin will be participating in the Unova League and already has all eight Gym Badges necessary to enter.

Nate challenges Kevin to a three-on-three Pokemon Battle which results in a draw. During said battle Nate's Quilladin has evolved into Chesnaught.

Now our heroes set sail for the Driftveil Gym, so Ash can win his 5th Badge.

Ash took a deep breath as he stood in front of a building. 'There are people who already have won all 8 Gym Badges...' he thought. 'I need to pick up my game... here I go Driftveil City Gym Leader!' Ash then starts to walk towards the building.

Before Ash could enter the Gym though, he saw a green haired boy walking out. "HEY ASH!" The boy called out. "Oh, hey there Sawyer!" Ash replied to the boy. "Are you here to challenge the Gym Leader?" Sawyer asked.

"Yep!" Ash replied. "Are you here to do that too?" He asked back. Sawyer chuckled and pulled out a Badge. Ash's jaw dropped. "Yep! I got my third Gym Badge!" Sawyer boasted. "And where's that Travelling partner of yours?" He asked.

"She, Pikachu and a couple of other friends of mine are already down there..." Ash answered. "I just wanted a little more time to train..." Sawyer nodded. "Good luck down there Ash... that Clay is tough..."

Ash nodded before walking into the Gym. Ash saw that, just like the Nimbasa Gym, it was like a rollercoaster, however this time of mine carts and mining trails. Ash shrugged before hopping into one of the carts.

The cart quickly took him to a Battlefield which looked like they were excavating something.

"ASH!" Ash heard his name being called by three familiar voices and one unfamiliar voice. Serena, Nate, Pikachu and Dawn were already at the audience stand. Ash waved to his friends as Pikachu rushed towards its Trainer.

Ash pet Pikachu on the head before turning to the Battlefield to see where the unfamiliar voice was coming from. He saw a man wearing an old-west banker outfit with a white hat. The was holding a pickaxe.

Ash got up and smirked. "So I'm guessing you're the Gym Leader...?" He asked. The man grinned. "Yep! They call me Clay! The Underground Boss!" He answered while pointing his pickaxe at Ash.

Ash stood up and smiled. "I'm Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town!" He said. "And I challenge you to a Pokemon Battle!" Clay smiled. "A'ait! I accept your challenge!"

The referee then got to the referee stand.

"Alright then, listen up!" Said the referee. "The Gym Battle between the Driftveil City Gym Leader, Clay, and Ash the challenger is about to get underway!" He then raised his arm up. "This is going to be a three-on-three Pokemon Battle. The battle will be over as soon as all three Pokemon of either side are unable to continue! Only the challenger is allowed to substitute!"

"A'AIT KROOKODILE LET'S GET TO WORK!" Clay exclaimed aa he threw his Pokeball in the air, releasing his first Pokemon.

It had a thick maroon-colored body, black back, and white stomach. It has five triangular spikes on its back. Its long thick tail, which has three, thick, black stripes. The last stripe covers the tip of the tail. Its legs are very short and directly attached to its feet. The feet are wrapped in black and have three white claws facing forward. Krookodile's arms are short and thin with a black stripe around the elbow. Its long, thin fingers are each tipped with a white claw.

"KROOKODILE!" It roared. 'So he's first Pokemon's a Krookodile...' Ash thought while checking the Pokedex.

Krookodile, the Intimidation Pokemon.

Krookodile can see faraway objects as if through binoculars. Its jaws are strong enough to crush a car.

Pikachu's cheeks then lit up with electricity as it takes a step forward. "Sorry Pikachu..." Ash turned to look at his partner. "Krookodile's a Ground-type, so Electric-type attacks won't work on it..."

Pikachu pouts angrily, but eventually accepts. Ash draws out a Pokeball. "You're up instead! FROGADIER, I CHOOSE YOU!" He exclaimed as he hurled the Pokeball forward, releasing his Frogadier.

"ALRIGHT! BATTLE BEGIN!" The referee exclaimed while bringing his arm down, allowing the Battle to officially begin. "FROGADIER! LET'S START THINGS OFF WITH ICE PUNCH LET'S GO!" Ash commanded, to the surprise of his friends.

Frogadier pulls back one of its fists, which is surrounded by swirling energy which changes from white to light blue. It then starts to glow with a white/light-blue icy-aura with snowflakes surrounding it. Frogadier then began to charge at Krookodile, ready to punch it.

"I DON' THINK SO!" Clay responded. "KROOKODILE! DODGE IT USIN' DIG!" Krookodile jumps into the air, then dives into the ground face first while spinning its body slightly. It quickly disappeared into the ground causing Frogadier to miss and crash into a Gym wall.

Ash gasped. "FROGADIER! Are you okay?" He asked worried. Frogadier quickly leapt out of the wall, back-flipped into the Battlefield, turned around and gave Ash a thumbs up.

"SANDSTORM!" Clay commanded. Frogadier felt where Krookodile was about to leap out of the ground so it swiftly jumped high, avoiding Krookodile's Dig. However, Krookodile jumped into the air with Frogadier, glowing several different colors and then stomps down onto the ground, causing sand to swirl out from under it in all directions.

The newly-formed Sandstorm hit Frogadier in midair, sending it tumbling backwards. Once Frogadier landed however, it was hit by the Sandstorm, causing damage and temporarily blinding it.

"NOW USE CRUNCH!" Clay commanded. Krookodile's teeth glow white and as it moves with its mouth open, white streaks of energy leave them. Krookodile then bites down on Frogadier.

"ICE PUNCH GO!" Ash commanded. Frogadier was charging up it's attack but it was hit by the Sandstorm, causing itself to get sand in its eyes, blinding it and causing it to miss Krookodile.

"KROOKODILE! STONE EDGE!" Clay commanded. Krookodile slams its claws into the ground causing numerous cracks to appear and spread towards Frogadier. When they reached it, they formed a circle around Frogadier, and from the cracks numerous sharp-edged stones appeared.

"FROGADIER NO!" Ash cried put in worry. Frogadier struggled to stand up, but it eventually did. However as soon as it did, it got hit by the Sandstorm. 'Hey, that's it!' Ash thought as he realized how to win.

"FINISH IT KROOKODILE! USE..." Clay was about to give Krookodile another command but was interrupted by Ash saying: "AIM AT THE FIELD AND USE COUNTER-SHIELD!" 'Now what are those two up to?' Clay thought, trying to make sense of what he just heard.

Frogadier tgen began to spin around while releasing a bubbly foam from its mouth, hitting every corner of the Battlefield. "WAY TO GO! BUBBLE'S GONNA STOP SANDSTORM FROM WORKING!" Ash exclaimed.

Frogadier kept spinning until it made it rain a little bit, nullifying Krookodile's Sandstorm. As soon as Frogadier stopped spinning it looked up, causing the water to wash away any sand it had in its eyes.

"HOW DARE YOU?!" Clay asked in annoyance. "USE DIG!" Krookodile then buried itself underground once again. Ash however, was prepared. "USE WATER PULSE AND AIM FOR THE HOLE!" He commanded.

Frogadier then fired a comet-like pulsating body of water at the hole Krookodile made. Krookodile was then flung upwards with the force of the water. "ICE PUNCH!" Ash commanded. Frogadier then charged at Krookodile, its fist glowing cyan and white, before punching Krookodile square in the stomach.

Krookodile was blasted downwards, its body now blue and surrounded by snow. But before Krookodile hit the floor Ash called out: "AERIAL ACE!" Causing Frogadier to become outlined in white, before charging at Krookodile (leaving a white streak behind), and slicing it repeatedly.

Krookodile then crashed into the ground, knocked out. "KROOKODILE'S UNABLE TO BATTLE!" The referee exclaimed. "FROGADIER IS THE WINNER!" Clay then returned Krookodile to its Pokeball.

"I gotta admit, you're a pretty strong whipper snapper..." Clay said. "But there's no way you're gonna be able to defeat my next Pokemon! SEISMITOAD! LET'S GET TO WORK!" Clay exclaimed while hurling his Pokeball upwards, releasing his second Pokemon.

It was a bulky, blue, bipedal toad-like Pokemon. Its underside and the speaker-like bumps found on various parts of its body are cyan with black edges around the belly. Its hands and feet have three bulbous digits. Additionally, it has red eyes, cyan adornments on its legs, and a long tongue.

"SEISMI TOAD!" It croaked. 'So I'm guessing Seismitoad's a Water-type as well as a Ground-type...' Ash thought to himself. "Frogadier return!" Ash exclaimed while returning Frogadier to its Pokeball.

"LEAVANNY! I CHOOSE YOU!" Ash called out while hurling his Pokeball forward, releasing his Leavanny. 'Since Leavanny's a Grass-type it can cause major damage to both Ground and Water-type opponents too!' Ash thought.

"LET'S START THINGS OFF LEAVANNY! USE ENERGY BALL!" Ash commanded. Leavanny then shot a green ball of energy at Seismitoad. "DODGE IT THEN USE RAIN DANCE!" Clay commanded. Seismitoad then slid out of the way of Leavanny's Energy Ball.

Seismitoad then began to perform a dance (similar to the Waterium-Z dance) causing its body to become outlined in blue. Then black clouds began to surround the top of the Battlefield, as a downpour began.

"Seismitoad made it rain..." Ash murmured. "Oh who cares? USE LEAF BLADE!" Leavanny's arms then began to glow green as it swiftly charged at Seismitoad, leaving two green streaks behind it.

Without even receiving a command, Seismitoad dodged Leavanny's Leaf Blade (still outlined in blue) with speed it didn't posses before.

'Whoa! Where'd that speed come from?' Ash thought, trying to figure out a way to explain Seismitoad's speed and a way to beat it simultaneously. Ash suddenly gasped. 'Of course!' He thought after realising what's going on. 'Seismitoad's Ability has to be Swift Swim! That's why its speed is so high now!'

"NOW USE HYDRO PUMP!" Clay commanded. Seismitoad glows blue and it puts its hands together and a blue ball of water forms in between them. The ball of water flattens and turns into a circle. Then, a powerful jet of water fires from the circle at Leavanny.

"USE PROTECT!" Ash commanded. Leavanny then crossed its arms into an 'X' shape, before becoming surrounded by a semi-transparent bulish-green force field, protecting it from Seismitoad's Hydro Pump.

"NOW JUMP HIGH AND USE STRING SHOT!" Ash commanded quickly. Leavanny then jumped high in the air before shooting a thick thread of purple silk, wrapping around Seismitoad, making it unable to move.

Clay gasped, but before he could give out another command, Ash beat him to the punch. "NOW USE ENERGY BALL!" He commanded. Leavanny then fired a green ball of energy, using the String Shot as a trail to make itself 100% accurate before hitting Seismitoad.

"NOW FINISH IT OFF WITH LEAF BLADE!" Ash commanded. "COUNTER WITH POISON JAB!" Clay counter-commanded. Leavanny charged at Seismitoad (with glowing green arms) ready to slash, while Seismitoad's fingertips began to glow purple, ready to stab Leavanny.

At the very last second, Leavanny was able to limbo under Seismitoad's Poison Jab and not a moment later Leavanny slashed Seismitoad with its Leaf Blade.

Seismitoad struggled a little bit, but eventually it collapsed to the ground. "SEISMITOAD IS UNABLE TO BATTLE!" Exclaimed the referee. "LEAVANNY WINS!" "YES!" Ash exclaimed while raising his fist. "You were awesome Leavanny! Way to go!" Leavanny replied by raising its arms enthusiastically towards Ash.

Clay began to stomp his foot on the ground repeatedly. "WHY! YOU! LITTLE! WHIPPER! SNAPPER! PIPSQUICK! Seismitoad return!" He returned Seismitoad to its Pokeball once he calmed down. "YOU'RE REAL STARTING TO GET ME MAD!" He growled at Ash. "I don't like that... if there's ONE thing I will not tolerate, is an unfair battle!"

"UNFAIR?!" "Pika?" Ash and his friends questioned in unison. "What are you talking about? That was just my strategy..." Ash asked on his own. "STRATEGY?!" Clay roared at Ash, startling him. "A young whipper snapper like you should forget about strategy and attack head on! LIKE A MAN!"

Clay then removed his hat. "I guess I'll just have to use my secret weapon then..." he said while crushing his hat with one hand, and grabbing a Pokeball in the other. "Oh oh..." Ash said. "It's power's on a whole different level than the rest of my Pokemon! EXCADRILL! LET'S GET TO WORK!" Clay then hurled his Pokeball in the air, releasing his final Pokemon.

It had a dark brown body with diagonal, red splotches. Three markings are on its front, with two under each arm, and two on its back. It has short legs with small, narrow feet, each containing three toes. Its small white face is long and thin, tipped by its pink nose. Its eyes are set back, on either side of the bridge of the nose.

Under them, on each side, are two thin, red stripes. A large blade roughly twice as large as its face extends from its forehead. The top of the blade contains two smaller blades, resembling fins. Its arms are thick and have three large blades instead of fingers, with two smaller blades on top of the middle ones. On its knees, halfway down its arm, and just behind where its forehead meets its face, are small red spots.

"EXCADRRRRRRRRRIL!" It cried its cry. 'Excadrill sure looks powerful...' Ash thought while grabbing his Pokedex.

Excadrill, the Subterrene Pokemon.

Excadrill can dig maze-like underground tunnels for over 100 meters and is powerful enough to cut through thick iron plates using its steel claws.

"According to my research Excadrill's a Ground and Steel-type Pokemon..." said Nate. "So this battle might be totally different..." Dawn replied. Serena cupped her hands together, as if she was praying. 'You don't need type advantages to win battles Ash...' she thought. 'Show this man-child what you're really made of!'

"Ready to go Leavanny?" Ash asked, to which Leavanny just nodded. "THEN USE ENERGY BALL!" He commanded. Leavanny then shot a green ball of energy at Excadrill. "METAL CLAW!" Clay counter-commanded.

Excadrill then opened both of its claws and holds them both forward. Both claws flashed white before turning into metal. Its claws then begin to rapidly spin letting off yellow static electricity as they spin. Excadrill then blocked Leavanny's Energy Ball, tearing it to pieces.

"NOW LEAF BLADE LET'S GO!" Ash commanded. Leavanny then charged at Excadrill with its Leaf Blade attack. "A WEAK LITTLE ATTACK LIKE THAT WON'T DO A THING TO MY EXCADRILL!" Clay exclaimed. Excadrill then used Metal Claw once again, dodging Leavanny's Leaf Blade and striking it.

"ALRIGHT LEAVANNY STRING SHOT!" Ash commanded. Leavanny then shot a thread of purple silk at Excadrill. "METAL CLAW! One more time!" Clay commanded. Excadrill then used Metal Claw to defend itself against Leavanny's String Shot, tearing the thread of silk apart like it was nothing.

"That didn't work..." Ash murmured to himself. "NOW ENERGY BALL!" "METAL CLAW AGAIN!" Ash and Clay commanded. Leavanny fired another Energy Ball at Excadrill, who just charged at it with its claws in front of it, destroying the Energy Ball.

"FINISH THIS WITH HORN DRILL!" Clay commanded. The silver protrusion on the top of Excadrill's head extends, beginning to spin like a drill. Its body then becomes surrounded by light blue, spiraling streaks of energy. It then charges at Leavanny and stabs it with its horn, creating a huge explosion.

Ash gasped. "LEAVANNY!" He cried out to his Pokemon. Leavanny was then sent flying backwards, hitting the Gym wall so hard it cracked. There was a small circular mark on its chest and it was knocked out cold.

"LEAVANNY IS UNABLE TO BATTLE!" Exclaimed the referee. "EXCADRILL WINS!" Dawn was a bit confused by the whole ordeal. "But Leavanny was only hit by one attack before that..." she said. "How did it lose so easily?"

"Horn Drill is a move that instantly knocks out an opponent's Pokemon if it hits..." Serena explained to Dawn. "I only know this because my mom's Rhydon knows it..."

"Leavanny! Are you okay?" Ash went towards his injured Pokemon and knelt beside it. Leavanny slowly opened its eyes and gave Ash a nod. "Kay, you deserve a good rest..." he said while returning Leavanny to its Pokeball.

Clay smirked and chuckled. "Now what..." Ash stood up, turned around and glared at Clay. "I wouldn't be so cocky if I were you..." he said in a serious tone. "Remember, I still have two more Pokemon, while you only have one..."

Clay laughed at that remark. "Numbers don't matter here!" He said. "Excadrill' wipe the floor with anything you send its way!" "I wouldn't be so sure..." Ash said while drawing his third Pokeball. "FLETCHINDER! I CHOOSE YOU!" He exclaimed while throwing his third Pokeball, releasing his Fletchinder.

"A Flyin' type huh..." Clay murmured. "Smart, but not smart enough..." "FLETCHINDER! USE PLUCK!" Ash commanded. Fletchinder then flew towards Excadrill, then a light blue bird shaped aura surrounds the front of Fletchinder's body.

"USE ROCK SLIDE!" Clay commanded, to Ash's shock. Excadrill jumps into the air, dodging Fletchinder's Pluck attack. It then creates multiple white orbs of energy around itself. The orbs of energy then turn into large grey rocks with white outlines that rain down over Fletchinder.

Fletchinder was sent tumbling towards the ground, hitting the ground with full force. "FLETCHINDER IS UNABLE TO BATTLE!" Exclaimed the referee. "EXCADRILL WINS!" Ash returns Fletchinder to its Pokeball.

"You should just give up while you still can kid!" Clay said in a cocky voice. Ash then glared at Clay again, holding a Pokeball. "My goal is to become a Pokemon Master..." he said in a monotone voice. "I'M NOT ABOUT TO GIVE UP NOW! FROGADIER! I CHOOSE YOU!" He exclaimed while throwing the Pokeball forward, releasing his Frogadier.

Frogadier croaked with all its might, not being intimidated by Excadrill. "FROGADIER! USE WATER PULSE!" Ash commanded. Frogadier then shot a comet-like jet of water at Excadrill. Clay just sighed as Excadrill blocked that attack with Metal Claw.

As soon as Excadrill's claws stopped spinning, it glanced over at Frogadier's location, only to see it was nowhere to be found. Excadrill eventually glanced up, seeing Frogadier there. "WAY TO GO FROGADIER!" Ash said. "NOW AERIAL ACE!"

Frogadier then rapidly slashed Excadrill with its body outlined in white. Clay growled at this. "I'm impressed. But we don't take second prize to anyone! USE DRILL RUN!" He commanded. Excadrill jumps into the air and holds out its arms. It then spins its body rapidly and dives forward, stabbing Frogadier with the protrusion sticking out of its head.

Frogadier was then left barely standing, kneeling down on one knee and panting heavily. "IT'S OVER! USE HORN DRILL!" Clay commanded. Excadrill then charged at Frogadier, ready to end the battle with Horn Drill.

"DODGE IT! DODGE IT! DODGE IT!" Ash exclaimed. Frogadier however, had other plans. It brought one of its fists backwards, causing it to become surrounded by a light blue and white aura. Frogadier then intercepted with Excadrill's Horn Drill by punching it straight in the "horn".

Both Pokemon were struggling over dominance but eventually, Excadrill's body then turned to a reflective blue and was surrounded by snow. Excadrill remained frozen in its place while Frogadier jumped high in the air.

Frogadier creates a blue sphere of energy from in between its hands. It then fires the sphere at Excadrill, the sphere transforming into a powerful comet-shaped jet of water. Once it made contact with Excadrill, it created an explosion of water.

"EXCADRILL NO!" Clay called out. "Excadrill is unable to battle!" Exclaimed the referee. "Frogadier wins! Which means the match goes to Ash the challenger!" "ALRIGHT!" Ash exclaimed while raising his fist. Frogadier then jumped at Ash, giving him a huge hug.

"You were awesome Frogadier!" Ash said while chuckling. Clay returned Excadrill to its Pokeball, while smiling. "Well Ash, that was a battle of guts..." he said while approaching Ash. "Now you need proof that you beat me..." he said while digging in his pocket, eventually grabbing a badge.

It was shaped like a vertical piece of earth, the top half of which has cracked and slid out of place.

Ash took a moment to inspect the badge before thanking Clay, and placing the Badge in his Badge case, next to the Bolt Badge.

Ash's friends congratulated him on a job well done.

Serena starts to train for her next Pokemon Showcase and decides to use Fennekin and Pancham in it. While practicing something angers Serena and she runs away.

She meets up with two Performers named Shauna and Ariana who remind Serena of what it truly means to be a performer.
