Previously in Pokemon Chaos and Order...

Ash and his friends arrive in Nimbasa City. They defend a girl named Leaf from members of the evil organization Team Plasma, with the help of some old friends of Ash's (and his brother)

After discovering that Red is Ash's brother, Serena reminisces about her brother, who was separated from her when they were younger. After a training battle between Ash and Gary, it is revealed that Nate is in fact Serena's brother.

"ALRIGHT!" Ash exclaimed as he jumped out of the Pokemon Center bed. "TODAY'S A NEW DAY! AND TODAY I'M GONNA CHALLENGE THE NIMBASA CITY GYM!" "PI PIKACHU!"

Ash goes around and opens the drapes of the room, letting the sunlight enter. "C'mon mom... I don't wanna Rhyhorn Race!" Serena murmured sleepily, hiding her head under the pillow.

Ash couldn't help but giggle. He quickly goes to the bathroom to change. After he finished changing, he went over to the bed Serena was sleeping in, and sat down next to her. He couldn't help but give a small smile and blush.

"You take your time Serena..." he said. "I won't force you to wake up just for a Gym Battle..." he quickly pulled over the blanket she had kicked away from her in her sleep. From under the pillow Ash could see the slight smile on Serena's face.

Ash smiled back before quietly walking out of the room and ordering breakfast for him and a ketchup bottle for Pikachu. After the two finish eating their breakfast, Ash was about to knock on Nate's door, but before he could Nate opened it.

"Oh! I didn't know you were awake!" Ash said in surprise. Nate chuckled. "It's a bit impossible to sleep when you scream out like crazy..." he said. "It's also impossible to ignore how you screamed like a fangirl over my brother being the Indigo Plateau Champion..." Ash replied teasingly.

"Touché..." Nate replied. The two laughed for a bit before Nate went over to knock at the door of the room that Ash and Serena were staying at. Ash then put his hand on Nate's shoulder. "Come on Nate... let her rest..." he said in a soft tone. "She had a rough night yesterday... I left her a note so she knows where we are..."

Nate grinned. "You really care about my sister don't you...?" He said in a teasing manner. "Well... yeah! We've been friends for a long time..." Ash replied. Nate's grin grew even bigger. "No... I mean MORE than friends..."

Ash blushed hard at that statement. "Wh... wh... what are you... tal... tal... what are you talking about?!" He stuttered as Pikachu giggled. "And I see that Pikachu has a thing for Serena's Eevee!" Pikachu then blushed hard as well.

"Don't worry you guys..." Nate reassured them. "I won't tell them! But I WILL help you guys get enough courage to tell them yourselves!" Ash and Pikachu let a sigh of relief.

"Thanks Nate..." Ash said. "I owe you one..." "Pika chu..." Nate just smirked. "C'mon! It's time for you to get a Gym Badge!" He said, before rushing down the stairs, Ash quickly behind him.

A few minutes later...

Ash and Nate arrive at the Gym.

"Well... that's a weird design for a Gym that's for sure..." "Pikachu..." Ash scratched the back of his head. "I researched that the Gym Leader is a fashion queen..." Nate said. "I think Serena would've loved to be here..." he grinned, clearly hiding something.

Ash opened the Gym door, and enters. Once he enters he sees a rollercoaster-like monorail cart.

"Huh..." Ash shrugs. "I wonder what that's for..." Nate walks up to Ash. "I think you ride this to get to the Battlefield!" He said. Ash smirked and raised his fist. The two then hopped on the cart, and it started to ride. "WHOA! THIS IS FAST!" Ash says in a high tone, a bit scared.

This is what they see...

Suddenly, the cart stops. But once Ash and Nate get out of the cart, they noticed that where they're staying, is not a Battlefield. In fact, it looks like a Fashion Runway.

"Okay, this does NOT look like a Battlefield..." Ash grunted while crossing his arms. The two look up to a monitor, only to see none-other then Monsieur Pierre, telling people about the fashion show that is taking place.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!" Pierre exclaimed. "I AM THRILLED TO WELCOME YOU TO THE PREVIEW SHOW OF UNOVA'S GOT TALENT! Today, we have a personal friend of the Shining Beauty of Nimbasa City! Let me proudly introduce you to... SERENA!"

Ash's jaw dropped as soon as he saw the model that entered the runway. She was wearing a dark-green dress that resembles a mermaid's tail with two large leaves blooming on either side of the flukes. She also had long whitr gloves that neatly reached her shoulders. The dress had two black, diamond-like shapes on each side of the model's svelte torso. She had a large bouquet of red, ornate flowers around her head.

Ash was stunned to say the least. In his mind, Serena was still sleeping in their shared room. But here she is! Acting as a model for the Nimbasa City Gym Leader.

'Okay... Nate was right...' Serena thought to herself while walking on the runway, posing. 'Nobody here even knows me... and this is a fun stepping ground for me to try the Pokemon Showca... IS THAT ASH?!'

She was instantly snapped out of her thought by seeing Ash standing in the audience, jaw dropped. She instantly froze and her face was so red, you'd think that it would explode. She had no idea of what to do.

After taking a few (long) moments to compose himself, Ash looked over at Nate, who was smirking. "YOU KNEW THAT?!" He asked furiously. Nate scratched the back of his head. "I might've contacted the Gym Leader, and got Serena a place in the Fashion Show..." Ash was about to ask why didn't Nate tell him about this, but he was stopped once he heard the crown booing.

One of them probably yelled this...

Ash was stunned, once again. 'Are they booing Serena?' He wondered. 'Why?' He then turned over to face the Runway again, only to see Serena still frozen, and shaking like she was just unfrozen.

Ash got a serious look on his face before rushing down the crowd and climbing up to the Runway, despite the many efforts of many security guards. He then stood in front of Serena with his arms extending to his sides.

"HEY! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU'RE BOOING?!" He yells, shutting the whole crowd up. 'He did NOT just do that...' was the only thing crossing Nate's thoughts at the moment.

"SHE'S DOING THE BEST SHE CAN!" Ash continued. Serena then managed to whisper 5 words. "Ash... what are you doing?" "No idea..." Ash whispered back before turning over to the audience. "COME ON PEOPLE! THAT'S HER FIRST TIME ON STAGE! SHE'S BOUND TO SLIP UP ONCE OR TWICE! AND IF YOU WANNA BOO SOMEONE THEN BOO ME! I WAS THE ONE WHO DISTRACTED HER!"

Serena believed that her face was glowing red, until she felt a hand on her shoulder. "That was a good speech..." a female voice said, catching their attention. "But I think I can handle this..." Ash and Serena saw a woman with blond hair and blue eyes.

Her hair was also made into two, long, black Tepigtails (pigtail) with an outlet design at the tip. She was wearing a straw hat with a blue bow and a blue and white stylized Kalosian dress.

"It's Elesa herself...!" "I can't believe it...!" "She's soooooo pretty...!" And stuff like this was said all over the audience as the paparazzi were quick to snap pictures of her. It turns out that the audience went silent not because they were stunned by Ash's action. They were stunned by Elesa walking down the Runway.

"You know... the kid's right!" Elesa exclaimed. "Serena gave it her best! And she was much better than most beginners! Not to mention that her mother is a personal friend of mine! So if you boo her... you basically boo ME!"

The audience immediately began to bombard Elesa with apologises, as she walked Serena back down the Runway, while giving Ash a thumbs up, which he happily returned.

A while later, Serena walked out (in her normal clothes) with Elesa to the two boys. She explained to Ash that the previous night she went in a late-night walk and bumped up to Nate. The two then walked about what they missed until the two of them run into Elesa, who squealed in delight at the mention of their mother's name.

As it turns out, Serena and Nate's mom, Grace, was a Traveling Companion of Elesa's. Nate then told Elesa about Serena's new interest in Showcases, and she managed to book a spot for Serena in the preview Fashion Show.

"So Elesa, this is Ash!" Serena introduced the two. "He's a childhood friend of mine!" "Well it's very nice to meet you Ash!" Elesa said while shaking Ash's hand. "Anyone who's a friend of Serena is a friend of mine!" "Likewise Elesa..." Ash replied, a little embarrassed.

"Hey! Is it true that you're the Nimbasa City Gym Leader?" Ash asked, with a little more enthusiasm in his voice. "Why yes I am!" She replied proudly. "My Electric-type Pokemon and me shine brighter than a diamond chandelier!"

"Well then, I'm challenging you to a Gym Ba..." "SERENA GABENA YVONNE!" Ash was interrupted by a woman's voice yelling at the top of her lungs at them, causing Ash to jump high, let out a short scream, and eventually land butt first on a nearby fountain.

Ash, Serena, Nate, Pikachu and Elesa turned to look at the source of the sound, only to see a very angry Grace, riding on a Rhyhorn. "MOM?!" Serena and Nate cried out in unison. "GRACE?!" Elesa added to their confused banter. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!" The four asked in unison.

Grace hopped off of her Rhyhorn before glaring at Serena and Nate. "First and foremost, it's incredible to see you again son!" She said to Nate in a soft tone. "And now for the real reason I'm here... you two are coming home with me!"

"WHAT?!" "PIKAPI?!" Everybody cried out in shock. "You heard me right!" Grace said, crossing her arms. "I wanted Serena to go on her Journey to socialize with people! And now that that's done, there's no reason for her to go on a dangerous 'adventure' where she could potentially get herself destroyed!" She put air-quotation marks on the word "adventure"

"But... but... but..." "NO 'BUTS'!" Grace interrupted her children. "YOU TWO WILL COME HOME, AND PRACTICE ON WHAT REALLY MATTERS! RHYHORN RACING!" Everybody was stunned. They couldn't believe that Grace basically forced her daughter to go on a Pokemon Journey, and now is saying that she never meant it.

"Excuse me ma'am..." Ash stepped forward, shaking to get dry. "I don't mean to be disrespectful but... ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FREAKING MIND?!" "PI PIKA!" Grace's face went from stunned, to angry.

"You..." she said, glaring down at Ash, who started to back away. "You were the kid who was almost destroyed by Team Rocket two weeks ago!" (For more information on that, Chapter 12)

"I WILL NOT LET MY CHILDREN BE DESTROYED JUST BECAUSE YOU SLIPPED UP!" She roared at Ash. Ash's face then went from terrified, to serious as he took a deep breath. "Miss... with all due respect... danger is part of a Pokemon Journey..." he began to explain.

"You don't get to learn about the world by reading a book..." he continued. "If you want to know what a Sitrus Berry tastes like, you eat it! If you don't like the taste, you move on... what I'm trying to say is, Serena and Nate won't be able to fulfil their dreams if you force then to ride around on a Rhyhorn..."

Grace blinked. "You really think MY kids will listen to a dangerous and hyperactive brat over their own mother?" She asked, still letting anger cloud her judgment. "Come on kids! We have no business here!" She said while walking away.

"NO!" Serena and Nate replied in unison, stopping Grace in her tracks. "What...?" She asked, gritting her teeth. Nate instantly stopped what he was doing, but Serena stepped forward. "You heard it right mom! 'NO'!" She said in a determined tone.

"We're not going to let you boss us around like we're nothing!" Serena exclaims, slamming her foot down on the ground. "THIS IS ME PUTTING MY FOOT DOWN! I AM NOT GOING TO LET YOU MAKE MY DECISIONS FOR ME! WHEN YOU DECIDED I WAS GOING ON A POKEMON JOURNEY YOU INSINUATED THAT I WAS MATURE ENOUGH TO MAKE MY OWN DECISIONS! WELL MY DECISION IS I WILL CONTINUE TRAVELLING WITH ASH UNTIL I REALIZE MY DREAM!"

Grace was stunned by the amount of determination in her daughter's voice. She couldn't believe that in barely a month, she went from a boy-hating, anti-social and untrustworthy shell of a girl, to a confident and easygoing (though not a pushover) young woman.

Grace formed a small smile after hearing her daughter's remark. "If you're so confident Serena..." she said in a teasing tone. "I will allow you and Nate to continue on your Journey... IF you and Ash beat me in a battle!" She pulled out a Pokeball.

Serena was confused by her mother's odd request but didn't bow out when she felt Ash's hand on her shoulder while he exclaimed. "WE ACCEPT YOUR CHALLENGE!" "PIKA!" With his fist raised. Grace smirked.

"If you win, I'll allow Serena and Nate to continue on their Journey..." Grace set her conditions. "But if you lose Ash... you'll have to go back home and stop being a Trainer yourself!"

Serena's eyes widened at the sudden realisation that if they lose, Ash will have to give up on his dream. She was about to protest, but was stopped by Ash exclaiming. "DEAL!"

A while later...

The three Trainers settled down on the Pokemon Center's Battlefield. Nate was sitting on a bench, shaking and sweating. Elesa then walked over to the referee stand. "Okay then!" She exclaimed raising her arm. "The Multi/Double-Battle between Ash and Serena, and Grace is about to begin!"

"The battle will be over as soon as both Pokemon of either side are unable to continue! Substitutions and healing of any kind are prohibited!" She then spread her arms to the sides. "Trainers! Bring out your Pokemon!"

Without wasting a moment, Grace pulled out two Pokeballs. "RHYHORN! GOGOAT! THE RACE IS ON!" She exclaimed while throwing both Pokeballs up in the air, releasing her Rhyhorn and another Pokemon.

It was a quadruped and hoofed Pokemon similar to a goat. It was covered in fluffy, brown fur that is dark across the back and light around the belly and legs. Around its neck, it has a thick, green leafy mane that extends down its spine and ends in a short tail. It had two long, curving, black horns that extend over their back.

Rhyhorn and Gogoat cried their respective cries. "Woah... check it out..." Ash said while pointing his Pokedex at Rhyhorn. Serena meanwhile, was doing the same to Gogoat.

Rhydon, the Drill Pokemon.

Protected by an armor-like hide, it is capable of living in molten lava of 3,600 degrees Fahrenheit.

Gogoat, the Mount Pokemon.

Gogoat is able to sense its Trainer's feelings by detecting small changes in the grip on its horns. This allows both Trainer and Pokemon to move together as one.

Ash grabbed a Pokeball from his belt. "Kay! I know exactly who to go with!" He exclaimed. "FROGADIER! I CHOOSE YOU!" Ash threw his Pokeball towards the battlefield, releasing his Frogadier. Serena saw the look of determination in Ash's eyes. This gave her newly found confidence.

She grabbed one of her Pokeballs. "ALRIGHT FENNEKIN! I CHOOSE YOU TOO!" She exclaimed while throwing her Pokeball forward, releasing her Fennekin. Ash's and Serena's Pokemon let out their respective cries, ready for battle.

"Rhydon and Gogoat vs. Frogadier and Fennekin!" Elesa exclaimed while lifting her arm upwards. "LET THE BATTLE... BEGIN!" She brought her arm down.

"FROGADIER USE BUBBLE!" Ash gave his first command. Frogadier then let out a bubbly foam from its mouth, creating a wave of foam, aiming for both of Grace's Pokemon.

"RHYDON! MEGAHORN NOW!" Grace said, without a hint of worry in her voice. Rhydon's horn began to glow green and increased in size. Rhydon then slammed its horn at the foam, splitting it in half like the red sea.

Serena was stunned by her mother's accomplishment, so she decided to try and get the upper hand. "FENNEKIN! USE PSYBEAM ON GOGOAT!" She commanded. Fennekin then fired a magenta beam of energy with multicolored particles from its mouth, hitting Gogoat directly.

"NOW AERIAL ACE!" Ash commanded. Frogadier then hurled at both Gogoat and Rhydon (outlined in white), quickly slashing the two of them. Grace smirked. "RHYDON! PIN FROGADIER DOWN WITH HAMMER ARM!" She commanded.

Rhydon then swings its heavy fist down at Frogadier, causing major damage and pinning Frogadier down so that it's unable to move. "FROGADIER!" Ash and Serena cried in unison. "FENNEKIN!" Serena's Fennekin barked.

"NOW HORN LEECH GOGOAT!" Grace commanded. Gogoat lowers its head and its horns start to glow green. It then fires two green beams from its horns at Frogadier. When it hit, sparkling green orbs of energy fly out of the opponent and into Gogoat, draining Frogadier's energy.

Rhydon then picks Frogadier up and hurled it at the Battlefield. Frogadier was knocked out. Ash, now beginning to worry, returns Frogadier to its Pokeball. "I CAN'T DO THIS ASH!" Serena exclaims. "I CAN'T TAKE MY MOM OUT ON MY OWN!"

Ash's face turned dead-serious. "Serena, listen to me!" He said in a commanding voice. "If you think like this then you'll never get out of your mother's shadow! I believe in you Serena! NOW GO GET HER!"

Serena's and Fennekin's eyes began to sparkle. Serena was determined to win, and Fennekin was determined to avenge Frogadier. Grace however, had other plans in mind. "RHYDON! HORN DRILL! AND GOGOAT! SEED BOMB!" She commanded.

Rhydon's horn spins like a drill and its body becomes surrounded by light blue, spiraling streaks of energy. It then begins to charge at Fennekin. Gogoat then shot out a barrage of yellow seeds, outlined in green and purple.

However, instead of hitting Fennekin, Gogoat actually aimed Seed Bomb at Rhydon! Creating large explosions around Rhydon's body, disabling its Horn Drill. Grace was shocked by what Gogoat has done, but then realized that Fennekin's Psybeam has confused it.

"NOW FENNEKIN!" Serena yelled. "HIDDEN POWER!" Fennekin then forms three light blue, green and yellow orbs of energy around its head. It then fires the orbs at Rhydon and Gogoat, which rotate before colliding. After colliding, there was a huge explosion, in the shape of a snowflake, of light-blue energy.

Once the dust settled, Gogoat and Rhydon were lying on the ground, unable to continue. "GOGOAT AND RHYDON ARE UNABLE TO BATTLE!" Elesa exclaimed. "THEREFORE THE WINNERS ARE ASH AND SERENA!"

Ash, Serena, Pikachu, Fennekin and Nate jumped happily at the results of the battle, with Fennekin hugging its Trainer. Grace returned Rhydon and Gogoat to their Pokeballs and walked up to Ash and Serena.

"Well, a deal's a deal..." she sighed. "You know what this means..." Serena then surprised Grace by giving her a big hug. "Thank you..." she whispered. "Truth is... I was going to let you continue either way..."

Everybody gasped. "WHAT?!" "PIKA?!" "FEN?!" Grace giggled. "When I saw you standing your ground Serena, I knew you and Nate were in good hands! Take care of them Ash!" She said while walking away.

Ash then turned to Elesa. "As I was saying earlier, I would like to have a Gym Battle with you!" He exclaimed while pointing upwards. "As soon as I heal up my Pokemon..." he continued. Elesa smirked. "I'll be waiting for you at the Battlefield!"
