CHAPTER 15 - DON'T BURGH ME!

Previously in Pokemon Chaos and Order...

Our heroes arrive at Castelia City, sight of Ash's third Gym Battle Challenge. Ash was about to challenge the gym, but it was closed for the day.

After a visit to the Pokemon Center, the three meet a girl named Ellie, who asks for a battle. Nate accepts and the battle ends in a tie.

After the battle, Ellie freaked out and hurled Ash against a wall, while growling at him to stay away from Serena. The Gym Leader, Burgh, witnessed the event and to cheer Ash up, he accepted his battle request.

.......................................................................

The next day...

Ash, Serena and Nate were waking up. Ash barely slept the previous night because of the whole ordeal with Ellie. Serena questioned why she wasn't staying at the Pokemon Center, but the two didn't want to Rattata out Ellie so they came up with an excuse.

They told her that Ellie went to visit her family and will end up meeting us whenever. The three then got dressed, and ate their breakfast.

After eating their breakfast they headed straight to the Gym, the Gym Leader promising to battle Ash first thing in the morning.

Once the three arrive at the Gym they noticed that it resembles an Art Studio more than a Gym.

"Hello... someone there?" Ash asked while knocking at the door. "The Gym Leader told me I could have a battle today..." suddenly, someone opened the door. It was a man, around early 20s, wearing a green jersey with a Pokeball drawing in it.

"Are you Ash Ketchum?" The man asked. Ash nodded his head. The man smiled. "Great! Burgh has been waiting for you! Come in!" He motioned for them to enter.

"Hey Ash!" Serena put her hand on Ash's shoulder before he walked in. Ash turned to face her. "Good luck!" She said with a cheerful smile on her face. Ash smiled an nodded back before the two walked in.

Inside was a battlefield (no surprises here), but it looked different. It had trees surrounding the field, and what appears to be a botanical preserve.

'Where's Burgh?' Ash thought to himself, before hearing rustling noises coming from somewhere behind and above him. He quickly turned over to face the source of the rustling, only to see the same man from the previous day, on a tree branch, playing with a Sewaddle.

"OH ASH!" He exclaimed, clearly glad to see him there. "It's great to see you! Now are you ready to get into your Gym Battle?" "YOU BET!" Ash exclaimed, excited for the battle he was about to have.

"Pi Pikachu!" Pikachu squeaked in determination. Ash turned over to look at his partner with a worried expression on his face. "Sorry Pikachu..." Ash said in a sorrowful tone. "I think you're gonna have to sit back and cheer for this one..."

Pikachu lowered its ears in disappointment, but ultimately understood. "Pika!" It squeaked while giving its Trainer a thumbs up, before hopping over to the audience stand, landing on Serena's lap.

Ash and Burgh stood in opposite sides of the Battlefield, and the man who greeted him at the door turned out to be the referee. "THE CASTELIA GYM BATTLE BETWEEN ASH THE CHALLENGER AND BURGH THE GYM LEADER IS ABOUT TO BEGIN!" He exclaimed.

"THREE POKEMON PER SIDE! THE MATCH WILL END AS SOON AS ALL POKEMON ON EITHER SIDE ARE UNABLE TO CONTINUE!" Burgh then drew out his first Pokeball. "It is a Gym Leader's duty to show you my choice of Pokemon first..." he said. "And that choice is... CRUSTLE! LET'S GO!"

The Pokemon Burgh chose was orange with resemblance to an insect or crustacean. Its most distinguishing feature is its enormous shell, which resembles a cut-away block of sediment with multiple layers and strata visible. The tips of its pincers and six feet are dark gray. It has two glaring yellow eyes.

"CRUSTLE!" It cried out. "Woah... never seen that Pokemon before..." Ash murmured before taking his Pokedex.

.......................................................................

Crustle, the Stone Home Pokemon.

With its powerful legs, Crustle can travel great distances while carrying a heavy stone on its back.

.......................................................................

Ash smirked. 'I know exactly which Pokemon I'm gonna be using...' he thought while grabbing a Pokeball. "'K, ROCKRUFF I CHOOSE YOU!" He exclaimed while throwing the Pokeball forward, releasing Ash's first Pokemon.

"RUFF!" It barked. "ALRIGHT NOW! BATTLE BEGIN!" Said the referee, allowing the battle to officially start. "ALRIGHT ROCKRUFF! LET'S START THINGS OFF WITH ROCK POLISH!" Ash commanded.

Rockruff's body began to glow blue and cyan. After the glow subsided, Rockruff's fur was more reflective. 'Trying to make sure you get a speed advantage against my Crustle? Clever boy Ash...' Burgh thought.

'But it won't be much use against THIS!' "CRUSTLE! USE SPIKES!" He commanded. Crustle then created an orange, brown and silver orb of energy between its claws. It the blasted the orb upwards, causing it to explode into a million black and silver hook/nail-like sharp objects.

(Like this...)

The objects then spread around Ash's side of the battlefield, disappearing with a quick, red flash. "OH MAN AN ENTRY HAZERD?!" Ash asked in shock and confusion. "What's an Entry Hazerd?" Serena asked Nate. "It's a type of move that causes damage to Pokemon as soon as they enter the battlefield..." he explained.

Serena turned to look at Ash with a worried expression on her face. Pikachu though, was losing it. Cheering his Trainer up as hard as it could. "PI KACHU! PI KACHU! PI PIKACHU!" It squeaked.

Ash took a deep breath and continued. "K Rockruff, we gotta watch out for those Spikes!" Ash warned. Rockruff barked and nodded. "ALRIGHT USE ROCK THROW!" He commanded.

Rockruff then shot out a barrage of small rocks from its tail. "I don't think so..." said Burgh. "USE ROCK WRECKER!" He commanded.

Crustle then put its claws together in front of it and a small gray stone with a red aura around it forms in between them. The rock then grows larger until it is as large as Crustle itself. Crustle then fired the boulder at Rockruff's Rock Throw, smashing the rocks to dust and continuing on its track.

"ROCKRUFF QUICK! USE ECHOED VOICE!" Ash commanded. Rockruff then roared a super-sonic roar, causing light-grey soundwaves to spread across the battlefield, utterly destroying the boulder and doing major damage to Crustle.

Burgh gasped in surprise, but then chuckled. "Lights, please!" He said while clapping twice. "Time to show you what Bug-type Pokemon are made of! X-SCISSOR!"

Crustle's claws glow light blue. It then puts its claws together in front of it and a light blue 'X' like energy with a magenta and green outline, appears in front of its claws. Crustle then quickly spreads its claws appart, causing the X-shaped energy to be blasted forward.

"WAIT THAT'S NOT HOW X-SCISSOR WORKS!" Ash yelped in surprise at the unusual way Burgh's Crustle used a Physical move. Because of both Ash's and Rockruff's shock, X-Scissor scored a direct hit on Rockruff, sending it tumbling backwards.

Rockruff managed to shake of the damage it took and resumed its battle stance, growling all the way. "Your Rockruff has a strong spirit..." Burgh complimented. "But unfortunately it won't be enough to defeat Crustle! NOW USE X-SCISSOR! ONCE MORE!"

Crustle pulled the same trick off again, blasting the X-shaped energy forward. This time though, Ash was prepared. "NOW ROCKRUFF! INTERCEPT IT WITH ROCK THROW!" He commanded, before Rockruff blasted a bunch of small rocks at the X-Scissor, creating a cloud of smoke to block Crustle's vision.

Suddenly, Burgh heard Ash's voice. "USE STONE EDGE!" Before Burgh could react, cracks appeared around the ground Crustle was standing on, blasting sharp-edged stones at it.

"CRUSTLE!" Burgh cried out. When the dust settled, Crustle was defeated. "CRUSTLE IS UNABLE TO BATTLE! ROCKRUFF IS THE WINNER!" Declared the Referee. Nate, Serena and Pikachu cheered Ash up on the sidelines as Burgh returned Crustle to its Pokeball.

Without even taking a second to think, Burgh drew his second Pokeball. "SCOLIPEDE! LET'S GO!" He exclaimed while throwing his Pokeball forward.

It was a centipede-like Pokemon. Its segmented body is dark magenta, except for its smooth, dark gray underside. Long, slightly bent horns similar to antennae extend from its head, as well as an identical pair of horns on its rear. Purple bands decorate these horns, and teardrop-shaped rings of the same color mark each body segment, one on each side of its body.

"SCOOOOLIPEDE!" It cried out. This time it was Serena's turn to wonder about that Pokemon and inspect it with her Pokedex.

.......................................................................

Scolipede, the Megapede Pokemon.

Scolipede catches its opponents with great speed and attacks using horns on its head. Scolipede is highly aggressive and will not give up until victorious.

.......................................................................

"K Rockruff, can you still battle?" Ash asked. Rockruff barked happily and waged its tail. "ALRIGHT! IN THAT CASE... USE ROCK THROW!" Ash commanded. Rockruff then blasted a barrage of rocks at Scolipede.

"DODGE IT THEN USE TOXIC!" Burgh commanded. Scolipede then moved its slender body like an Ekans being charmed, dodging all of the rocks. Then purple sparks began to flow between Scolipede's horns, before grey smoke came out of its mouth, forming the shape of a skull and crossbones.

The smoke image was then blasted forward towards Rockruff, the skull engulfing Rockruff's entire body before dissipating. Rockruff was then surrounded by purple sparks and it was whining in agony, as its face turns green.

"ROCKRUFF NO!" Ash called out for his Pokemon obviously worried. "NOW FINISH THIS OFF WITH SMART STRIKE!" Burgh commanded. We get a 'closeup shot' of Scolipede's eye, seeing Rockruff's reflection in it. Then Scolipede forms a red target mark on its eye.

(Imagine something like this...)

Scolipede's horns then start to glow silver and become surrounded by a blue aura, before lunging forward at Rockruff. "DODGE IT!" Ash tried to tell Rockruff, but the pain from being poisoned disoriented it, causing Scolipede's attack to score a direct hit.

After the dust settled, Rockruff was lying on the ground, knocked out. "ROCKRUFF IS UNABLE TO BATTLE! SCOLIPEDE WINS!" The referee exclaimed. "Thanks a lot Rockruff..." Ash said while returning Rockruff to its Pokeball. "You deserve a good, long rest..."

Serena looked at Ash, and she saw that he had a look of devastation in his eyes. She saw how much pain he had in his eyes, seeing as he just witnessed Rockruff being in so much pain.

"DON'T GIVE UP ASH!" She yelled at him, catching his attention. "YOU'RE THE GREATEST TRAINER I KNOW! YOU CAN'T BE TAKEN ABACK BY ONE LOSS! DON'T GIVE UP TILL IT'S OVER ASH!!!!!" "PIKACHU!"

Hearing Serena's cheering gave Ash new confidence and energy. 'Serena's right!' He thought. 'I'm going to win this no matter what! Now what Pokemon should I use next?' He began to inspect the situation.

'I gotta watch out for Scolipede's Toxic and Smart Strike... OH! And for the Spikes! I almost forgot! I know exactly what to do!' Ash drew out his next Pokeball. "FLETCHINDER! I CHOOSE YOU!"

"FLETCHINDEEEEEEEEER!" It proudly skwaked while spreading its wings. Burgh simply shrugged. "You can't always count on type advantages to win a match!" He warned. "I know that!" Ash replied. "BUT IT SURE HELPS! FLETCHINDER! USE ACROBATICS!"

Fletchinder's body began to glow blue before zip around the top of the battlefield before beginning to dive into Scolipede. Burgh just sighed. "USE ROCK TOMB!" He commanded. Scolipede's eyes then glowed white, before a dozen grey boulders outlined in white surround Scolipede, before being hurled at the upcoming Fletchinder.

"DODGE THEN POWER UP WITH YOUR SMOKIN' HOT FLAME CHARGE!" Ash commanded. Fletchinder started to zip around the boulders so fast it seemed it was teleporting, not allowing any of the boulders to hit it.

Fletchinder's body (still glowing blue) became outlined by red, orange and yellow flames, getting faster by the second, hitting Scolipede directly, creating a huge explosion. When the dust settled, Scolipede was taken out in one hit.

"SCOLIPEDE IS UNABLE TO BATTLE! FLETCHINDER WINS!" Exclaimed the referee before Burgh returned Scolipede to its Pokeball. "I'm impressed..." Burgh said. "No one has been able to defeat my Scolipede in one hit... but I must warn you... you'll need all the luck in the world to defeat my last Pokemon!" He said showing Ash the Pokeball.

"WELL BRING IT ON!" Ash exclaimed, his voice full of confidence. "Good to hear you're really confident..." Burgh said. "NOW LEAVANNY! LET'S GO!"

His third Pokemon was a thin, yellow, bipedal insectoid. It has a broad, split leaf around its large, round head and it has long antennae that end in semicircles. Its eyes are red with no apparent sclera.

Its tiny thorax is dark green, and its long abdomen is yellow and covered in a green leaf. Its hands are long and leaf-like with a "bite" taken out of each. Its upper arms are also leaf-like, but with a vein of yellow at the top. Its thin legs are yellow with dark green, thick segments around its upper legs, making them appear armored.

"LEAVANNY!" It cried its cry. "Woah! That's Swadloon's evolved form!" Ash murmured, before (you guessed it!) pulling out his Pokedex.

.......................................................................

Leavanny, the Nurturing Pokemon and the evolved form of Swadloon.

When Leavanny finds a small Pokémon it makes clothing for it with its arm cutters, using leaves and sticky silk.

.......................................................................

"FLETCHINDER! WE'LL MAKE THIS QUICK!" Ash exclaimed. "USE PECK!" Fletchinder's beak began to glow white and it began to dive at Leavanny. Burgh snapped his fingers. "USE STRING SHOT!" He commanded.

Leavanny then shot a big thread of purple silk, surrounded by a blueish aura, from its mouth, wrapping it around Fletchinder's body. Fletchinder suddenly crashed to the ground, not being able to move.

"CUT THAT THREAD WITH STEEL WING!" Ash commanded. "OH NO YOU DON'T! SOLAR BEAM!" Burgh commanded. Leavanny collected a huge amount of sunlight and concentrated it into a yellow and green orb, before blasting it forward in the form of a powerful beam at Fletchinder.

When the dust settled, Fletchinder was knocked out. "FLETCHINDER IS UNABLE TO BATTLE! LEAVANNY IS THE WINNER!" The referee exclaimed. "Fletchinder you did an amazing job... return..." Ash said while returning it to its Pokeball.

"Well... I guess it's up to you now..." Ash said while staring at his third Pokeball. Ash took a deep breath before pulling the Pokeball backwards to gain momentum. "SWADLOON! I CHOOSE YOU!" He exclaimed while hurling the Pokeball forward.

"SWADLOON!" It cried its cry. "Swadloon! I know Leavanny is naturally stronger than you!" Ash said, trying to motivate his Pokemon. "But I believe in you! I KNOW YOU'RE GONNA WIN THIS!" Swadloon nods and turns back to the battle.

"ALRIGHT! LET'S SHOW 'EM THE NEW MOVE YOU LEARNED WHILE TRAINING!" He said. "USE ENERGY BALL!" Swadloon opens its mouth, and forms a green energy ball in its mouth, and hurls it at Leavanny, hitting it directly.

"This won't help you!" Burgh said. "USE LEAF STORM!" Leavanny raises its arms and multiple green leaves start spinning above it body. The leaves are then blasted towards Swadloon. "DODGE IT!" Ash cried, but Swadloon was paralyzed with fear.

Swadloon was hit by the hurricane of leaves, being whipped around inside it. "SWADLOON!" Ash cried out for Swadloon, as the Leaf Storm subsided, causing it to crash to the ground.

"NOW FINISH THIS LEAVANNY! SOLAR BEAM!" Burgh commanded. "PROTECT!!!!!" Ash tried to command, Swadloon tried to create a force field to protect itself, but it was hit by the Solar Beam before it could do it.

But something strange happened. Instead of taking damage, Swadloon absorbed the light, becoming surrounded by a lime green aura as its body began to change. As soon as the Solar Beam stopped, Ash's "Swadloon" looked like a mirror image of the Pokemon standing in front of it.

"LEAVANNY!" It cried. Ash just stood there in shock. "You... you Evolved...?" He asked. "Vanny!" It cheerfully said, in a tone which reminded him of Serena. Ash smiled and kept the battle going.

"ALRIGHT! USE RAZOR LEAF!" He commanded. Leavanny's arms started to glow green, and with blinding speed it slashed Burgh's Leavanny, leaving a green energy trail behind it.

"WHOA! LEAVANNY JUST LEARNED LEAF BLADE!" Ash excitingly said. Burgh gasped. "LEAVANNY USE AIR SLASH!" He commanded. Burgh's Leavanny's arms glowed blue, and it slashed the air, sending a blue slice-like shockwave at Ash's Leavanny.

"BLOCK IT WITH LEAF BLADE! THEN USE STRING SHOT!" Ash commanded. Ash's Leavanny's arms glowed green and blocked the Air Slash, before shooting a thread of purple silk at Burgh's Leavanny, wrapping it.

Before Burgh could tell Leavanny to escape, Ash spoke. "USE THE STRING SHOT AS A TRAIL AND USE ENERGY BALL!" Ash's Leavanny blasted a ball of green energy at Burgh's. The Energy Ball used the thread of silk as a trail, hitting Burgh's Leavanny directly, creating a huge explosion.

Burgh gasped, anxiously waiting for the dust to clear. Once it did, Burgh's Leavanny was on the ground. "BURGH'S LEAVANNY IS UNABLE TO BATTLE! ASH'S LEAVANNY WINS! MEANING THE VICTORY GOES TO THE CHALLENGER ASH!" Exclaimed the referee as Ash was jumping up and down in excitement.

"Well Ash... I never thought you would have such an easy time going through my Pokemon..." Burgh admitted while walking towards Ash. "As proof that you defeated me, I award you with the Insect Badge!" Burgh then presented Ash with a badge. It is shaped like a green heart divided into three parts or the wings and body of an insect.

Ash inspected the badge for a bit, before thanking Burgh and placing it in his Badge Case, next to the Toxic Badge.

Our three heroes waved goodbye to Burgh as they walked out of the Gym. "So... where do we go now?" Serena asked in her usual cheerful tone. "I bought a new map, this time with the locations of all the Unova League Gyms!" Nate responded.

"But I left it at the Pokemon Center... be right back!" Nate ran off to the Pokemon Center, leaving Ash and Serena alone. When one tried to talk to the other, the other would speak up as well, making it impossible to have a normal conversation.

Pikachu caught the awkward atmosphere and so it decided to leave the two completely alone. "Pika Pi!" Pikachu squeaked. "Huh? What is it buddy?" Ash asked. Pikachu motioned towards Nate, who was still visable, though barely.

Ash blushed at the thought of him and Serena being alone, but ultimately let Pikachu keep Nate company. As the two figures vanished from the two's sight, Serena finally mustered up the courage to speak.

"Um... Ash..." she stuttered. "Wh... what...?" He asked, stuttering back. "I just... I just wanted to congratulate you on your third Gym Badge..." "Oh! Thanks..." he replied, secretly disappointed that that's all she wanted to say, even though he doesn't know why.

"So... have you figured out your dream yet?" He asked. Serena looked down. "N... no..." Ash put his hand on her shoulder. "Don't be stressed!" He said, giving her his signature smirk. "You'll find a dream eventually! And until then, remember never to give up till it's over!"

Serena chuckled, and the two start to walk back to the Pokemon Center to meet up with Nate. Little do our heroes know, someone with purple hair, and red eyes, is watching them, and she's not happy.

Hi guys! Infinityalbi10 here! And please don't be stressed about the cliffhanger-like way this chapter ended! This is not supposed to hint at the fact that Ellie is planning something bad for the two... okay she is! But that's not the point! The point is, I ended the chapter this way because I decided to make Ellie a recurring character!

Once again, Ellie was created by LeaFxVortex and if you want to make a character for my story, just reply to the message I've sent on my conversations about just that and I'll hopefully find somewhere to put him/her in! Okay, this outro's gone long enough! Here's next chapter's summary:

Our heroes make their way back to Route 4, their heads intended on getting to Nimbasa City, sight of Ash's next Unova Gym Battle Challenge.

On their way there, they find out that Team Rocket is attacking a nursery home, and trying to steal rare Pokemon eggs.

Our heroes scare them off and as a thank you, the owners grant Ash a mystery egg. At the same time though, Serena's egg, that she got from Dawn, starts to hatch.

What are Team Rocket planning? How will our heroes fend them off? What kind of Pokemon will hatch from the eggs?
